Candace glanced toward the door as H warned against strenuous activity. She knew exactly what he meant. He should know better than to think she didn't have enough self control she'd just do that with Jerry right here! Hmph! But Jerry quickly had her attention again as the doctor left and he insisted it was fine. But...but they..they nearly killed him! An accident?! Ugh. Fine. She was frowning when he was able to see her face again, scooting the chair closer to the bed and pouting her lips. "I suppose..." Her eyes darted toward the door. How long had H been in here? "What else did you two talk about? Inquiring minds would like to know~. He didn't upset you, did he? He's a terrible troll, that man." She had to know if H said anything...suspicious.

He called her his hero and her cheeks flushed faintly, giggling helplessly as he gently stroked her face with the back of his knuckles and closing her eyes. Oh, how she adored this sweet man. Even when he was injured in a hospital bed he was sweet and tender. "Fine, fine. Just...please be more careful next time? I like having you in one piece, honey."

She, huh? Candace said nothing of his little slip. It was a girl. What girl would beat up Jerry? Even by accident? Who had this kind of strength!? Clarice? No, Clarice would have been here owning up to her own fault she was sure. She'd done that with Candace! Maybe he would slip again if she didn't point it out.

When Jerry's smile took on an expression she had never seen before her eyes widened. He was smiling like that while saying he and the doctor talked about her. "You...talked about me?" Oh god. Oh god. What did they say about her? Did H say anything? Was that why Jerry was smiling like that? Why was he smiling like that! This wasn't funny, Jerry! What did that smile mean?! Keep calm. Keep calm. Don't let on you're worried, it will only seem suspicious. "Uh oh. Should I be worried?" She was trying to stay light and amused, but inside her gut was twisting with worry and nerves.

You wouldn't be feeling like this if you just stayed faithful and loyal to him and stopped trying to go to the pumpkin patch with that doctor. Candace made a slight face. I don't even know what that means.

As he sat up she reached out to help steady him if he needed it, calming down at the sudden kiss she was given and smiling helplessly. Ugh, he was the sweetest man alive. She held one of his hands in both of hers and peppered the back of it with sweet kisses after he had settled down again, seeming somewhat okay with..a manly heart to heart. Jerry didn't seem traumatized, or angry, or sad; in fact the man appeared to be happy. What had they talked about..? "Ah, I see. Just be careful with him, alright? He's a troll. A terrible, terrible troll who'll eat my little Jerrygoat." Candace paused and stopped kissing his hand to make a face at what she just said. Her Jerrygoat? Where the ******** did that come from? "Wow, Candace. Wow. That was...forget I said something so stupid, babe. Please. I beg you."

Candace looked up again, her expression softening as he apologized. He didn't need to do that. She sighed and smiled, and then she stood up to sit on the edge of the bed where there was space instead of in the chair, holding Jerry's hand and leaning in close. The back of her knuckles gently stroked his cheek as she rest her forehead carefully against his. "It's fine, don't worry. Just rest up and recover, okay? I'm going to buy you a bubble for Christmas if you don't start being more careful against whatserface." Would he forget he hadn't said her name and try to correct Candace? She certainly hoped so. "Is there anything you'd like right now? Aside from the glasses?"

On the bright side? He was laughing. Even if the joke was awful. But it was infectious, snickering at first until she suddenly snorted and gave up on trying to hold back her own laughter. That was the dumbest joke she'd ever heard! And she'd been the one to say it! Haha! "It so was! Don't tell anyone I said that, okay? Or I'll have to punish you." She accompanied those last five words with her fingers walking playfully up his front until she tapped his nose, leaving a kiss there after. But he groaned and she sat up sharply, looking very unsure of what to do. "Are you sure you're okay? Would you like me to get someone? Ah...water? I can do that. Yes." She bit her lip nervously, tilting her head to one side at his words. Karma for wh--oh.

Sigh. "I'm sure he doesn't fault you. I drugged him with those cookies that make you feel super happy and he hasn't disowned me yet." Because cookies totally compared to a near death scare. "Aw, honey. Don't say that! I thought the same thing until I actually got it!" She paused a moment when he told her H actually said he was almost ready to be promoted. H, really? Well wasn't that...actually nice of him to say! Maybe she didn't have anything to worry about after all.

Candace smile, brushing back Jerry's hair with her fingers. "Of course I do. You've come a long way since coming here, darling. We all have." A pause. "Most of us have, anyway. I think you're ready, and I'm not just being biased." She caught his lips for a sweet, lingering kiss before sitting up again. "Now, you wanted water. Did you want anything to snack on to go with it?"

She couldn't help but smirk at his comment about blood loss, snickering and brushing her lips against his cheek. "Then I'd hate to cause any sudden changes in your blood flow." Candace teased affectionately, her smirk softening to a smile as he called her his pretty nurse. Hey! That was right! She was a Mist hunter trainee, and mist hunters were supposed to perform the duties of all the divisions, right? This was great training! "I won't play doctor, but I'll play nurse. You just be good and stay here and I'll be right back with that water." Because he was totally going to get up and run out to go do things right now. Totally.

Giving him one last kiss she stood and nodded, brushing his hair back. "I will. Promise." She walked out then in a hurry, not wanting to be gone longer than she needed to be.

By the time she returned Jerry had fallen asleep and someone had turned the lights off, assuming it a courtesy. She was very quick to flick the switch to turn them back on, her mild panic softening when she saw him sleeping peacefully. She'd probably know if he was awake. Duh. The door was closed and the glass was set down on the table beside his glasses before she sat down in the chair and pulled it up to sit close beside his bed. Sighing quietly, Candace gently took his hand, kissed the back of it, and gave it an affectionate squeeze. "You're going to give me gray hairs if you keep this up, Jerrbear." She said quietly, settling down to fold her arm on the bed and use it as a pillow, holding his hand against her lips and closing her eyes.
