"Who?" he asked, trying and failing to imagine her in a dress. "Did you burn the dress afterward?" he asked curiously, already picturing it up in flames. And yeah, that party did sound sucky, he thought. His party had been a hell of a lot more fun.

Danny's worried expression dropped to an eye roll. Of course Roch wouldn't even remember. "Oersted. My brother," she said flatly.
A smile crossed her face when he mentioned burning the dress. How did Roch know her so well? She laughed and then said, "No, my mummy spent a lot of seeds on it." Danny wasn't about to mention how she spent the rest of the week in dresses too. Definitely not going to mention that.
"But ... yeah, I went to Oersted's for a week, and it was really boring. Like REALLY boring. A bunch of stuffy business dudes. I couldn't leave the building either. I tried once and a guard told me I couldn't." Honestly, even if she left there wouldn't be much to do, so she had decided to just stay in her confines. "I even burned up a guy's paper stack, and that was boring," she pleaded, trying to stress how unbelievably boring it was.

"Hmmm? He want you to burn them?" Roch asked casually, but seeing something dirty going on if that were the case. Innocent kid used to cover up something dirty-- Well, they were demons, so he guessed it made sense to do that sort of thing. But still.

Danny gave the boil a confused look. "What? No I did it when no one was looking. For fun." Obviously. He knew that she did stuff like that at random, didn't he?
Sighing, she added, "I didn't see much of Oersted at all. He's always up in his office being big and important. Even night's when we were supposed to have dinner, he forgot." Stupid, stupid Oersted.
"But," she amended hopefully, "On Frightday, Moure and Rikki came over for dinner!" She looked up at Roch furiously, "Oh yeah, you were supposed to come too you know." She clearly wasn't over his rejection, even though she had already forgotten the rejection that happened a few minutes ago.

"Yeah, but it woulda been a dinner like the one you told me about earlier, right?" he said logically. "I would have SUCKED at that sort of dinner, even if I had come," he finished proudly. "So everyone was better off! Besides, I'd way rather hang out with you at Spooks for a night. We'll go out for dinner when you can move without wincing, alright? My treat."

Danny stared at her friend. "We both know you can't pay for that." It wasn't an insult, it was a fact, at least to Danny's knowledge. Then again, maybe while she was gone, Roch shaped himself up. Got a fine job, and was now a gentleman.
... Nahhhhhhhhhhhh.
To clarify, she said, "No it was a nice dinner at a fancy place, but no one was dressed up or anything. We just had fun, the three of us. Well three, and then Moure had to leave for... stupid Edel." Did she say that last line bitterly? Maybe just a little.

"I said at SPOOKS. The pizza place? I can afford a pizza or two," he said, rolling his eyes. "I ain't THAT poor. And Pop's been sending more allowance lately," he said. "Probably because he saw me watching what I ate on vacation. I get a few hundred seeds every other week now." Which still wasn't much, but he supplemented with his guitar. "And pick up another hundred or so playing on weekends," he added.
Then he frowned. "Danny... you ain't got a crush on Moure, do you?"

Danny was actually quite impressed with Roch's self-sufficiency, though she didn't comment on it. She couldn't imagine having to play her guitar on the weekend just to get food. She liked her food right where it was; in her fridge (even if her fridge was kind of scary).
His question caught her totally off guard though. "What?! - ow," she said, recoiling after having such an animated response. "No, no, no!" she protested, "Moure's just a really close friend. I just don't like him spending so much time with Edel, Roch. You ... You know how much I don't like her," she added the next part a bit quieter, "And why..."
Waving her hands, she cleared the entire thing from the air. "Moure's not the one I like."

"Huh... wait," Roch said. "If Moure isn't the one you like... then who is?" he asked quietly. He sensed a problem coming up, but he wasn't quite sure why. Maybe she liked someone he didn't like or know or something?

Danny's eyes went wide. Shoot, she had just let it slip, didn't she? This wasn't good. This wasn't good at all. Now Roch would have an excuse to make fun of her.
"No one! I don't like anyone!" she blurted. Her words were that of denial, but the crimson blush streaking across her face revealed her secret. She absolutely couldn't tell Roch who she liked. Not a chance!
Besides, he had just gotten done telling her that all friends who go out just ended up breaking up with each other. Roch would scold her for liking someone that was close to her, and she would feel bad about it. She just couldn't tell him!

He frowned, now certain that something bad was going down. "Danny... nah. When you can tell me, tell me alright?" he said quietly. "I won't force you or anything." But he didn't like it. He was positive he didn't like it, not if she was denying it that strongly.
Danny didn't keep secrets from him. Not usually.

Danny felt really bad when Roch frowned like that. It seemed a tad foreboding, and definitely sad. Was he a bit hurt? Danny had just spent so long getting him happy, and now he was back to the sad faces. She had an inner argument going on with herself, but eventually one side gave into the other.
"O- ... Okay but you can't tell anyone alright?" she looked him in the eyes seriously, and sat up, wincing again. She couldn't risk saying it up to his face and having someone listening from behind her! Eventually the pain subsided and she rested her chin on his shoulder again.
"I mean it okay!" This was scary. What if Roch got mad at her? What if Roch scolded her? Something about this was scary, but also ... exciting? She'd never told anyone she liked someone. It was new.

"I won't tell anyone," Roch agreed. Whether he would DO something about it or not, he kept to himself. "Who do you like, Danny?"

Danny was about to lean in to whisper in his ear and reveal all when...
She chickened out.
"Y-You really can't tell anyone okay? And no laughing!" she said very seriously. Really she was just buying more time for herself. Why was this so hard? She told Roch everything! SO why was this so different?

"Danny, if it's a ghoul I ain't gonna make fun of you, seein' as you're manlier than I am in some ways," he teased. "Just go on and say it already. We both know it ain't me and it ain't Moure, I really doubt it's G, although he's pretty awesome--"
