He stopped laughing, and she turned off the music blaring from her headphones. Unfortunately the music had been the only thing covering up the quiet sniffs as she tried desperately to keep from sobbing in front of this idiot. She'd lost the battle of trying not to cry, but she wouldn't sob. No. Not again. She felt his hand against the back of her head and gasped as he shoved her down, wincing and turning her head just in time to keep from breaking or damaging her nose. Ow. Owwww!
He had something to tell her? The ******** was he up to?
"If you ever hurt Jordan again, I'll ******** kill you." Candace fell silent and her eyes opened wide. How did...how did he..!?
She suddenly growled and whipped around, shoving him off her with an elbow to the chest quickly followed by a swift punch to his face. Candace stood then, wobbly on her feet. She was tired, she just wanted to go to her room and sleep now. Except with Clarice she had yet to lose a fight...and to lose to this...this...b*****d!? "Maybe you should know the whole ******** story before you make petty threats against someone you're stuck living with for the rest of your life. a*****e." Candace shoved him aside then, or tried to, before walking past him to go back to her own room. There was a limp in her step, though a stupid little thought assured her that hey...at least it wasn't her legs this time.
Candace, dear..next time? We'll pulverize him until he's dust. Alright? Atropos offered gently, her voice soothing in Candace's head. She nodded, frowning. Next time. Oh, there would be a next time.

Robert didn't need to know the whole story. He just needed to do what was necessary to keep the people he loved safe.
And as he watched Candace walk away, rubbing his face where she'd punched him, he felt confident he had done just that.
