"NO NO NO, YOU NEVER GIVE UP, that's not how it goes, okay!!"
Someone seemed to be a little too into it- as if she'd forgotten she was supposed to teach, as opposed to actually.. battle. She'd thwacked him hard when he mentioned giving up, but..
Whoops?

The sword came at him faster than he could even blink, and it was all he could do to stagger backward away as slash after slash came at him, slicing through Fear Shield, and through white coat and sweatervest to cut deep into the flesh beyond. By the time he hit the ground, there was nothing but red soaking his chest and chin, Roar vanishing in green light as he lay motionless on the grass.

"JERRY!"
Oh god oh god oh god what had she done this wasn't fun anymore.
"Jerry? JERRRYYYY wake up wake up please I can't carry you on my own oh god Jerry?" Reine was trying anything she could to wake him up- to the extent, at least, of prodding and shoving, though she avoided the wounds, naturally; the sight of blood all over his white jacket made her feel sick.
"Jerry Jerry wake up please it's okay you don't have to fight Robert I'll do it for you please just.."
First Spencer, now Jerry. Tears trickled down Reine's cheeks- even the cookies did nothing for her now.

But Jerry did not wake up, his head lolling with every jostle, every prod, limp and nearly lifeless. And the blood kept flowing. He could probably use some first aid.

She couldn't leave him there- no way, what if there were strange things lurking in the bushes or if there was some kind of species of vulture around that preyed on near-dead hunters oh god oh god--
Biology 101, Reine.
Still bawling, the trainee pulled her phone out, and called the only person she thought she could count on now.Nio Love I DIDN'T MEAN TO DO IT BOBBY I REALLY DIDN'T PLEASE COME HELP ME PLEASE HE'S GONNA DIE WE'RE AT THE TRAINING FIELDS PLEASE..... -click-

Robert was.. in a pickle.
There were pressing matters at hand. Matters that needed.. taking care of. And yet, he had picked up the phone when he realized it was Reine's number, and heard her yelling - and then hanging up on him.
Well, that took care of matters in a different way, sadly.
A few minutes later, a very disgruntled and unsatisfied looking Robert was walking out of his room, and jogging over to the training fields. Whoever Reine had just beaten into submission was clearly almost dead, and she didn't have the guts to finish the job.
So he would.
Except he wouldn't, because it was Jerry, and he loved Jerry. So when he saw Jerry lying bloody on the floor, he smacked his forehead.
"God. Damnit."

She threw herself at him, still wailing.
"I was just gonna help him and toughen him up a bit so he'd be able to beat you this time all he wanted to do was sing with you Bobbyyyy..."
She looked back at the bleeding man, and sobbed even harder.
"Pleaaaaaase Bobby could you carry him to the infirmary for me I can't.. I can't manage on my own and I really didn't mean to do this please don't tell boss I'm so sorry I'm so sorry.."

Robert stared at Reine's sobbing, prone form, then turned back to Jerry, and sighed.
"Yeah.. you got him something good, didn't you, kitten?" Robert murmured, bending down onto his knees to check the body. Cuts, welts, bruises, ooh, that one was oozing rather spectacularly..
Robert brought his arm up to his mouth and ripped the hem of his sleeve with his teeth, tugging until the fabric came off in a strip. He used that strip rather crudely, shoving it straight into the most gaping of wounds, to stop the flow of blood.
His arms slid underneath Jerry's body, carefully bringing the man into his arms, before standing with smooth movements to reduce the jostling. He gave Reine one more guarded, worried glance. "He's gonna be okay, you know." He hefted Jerry in his arms, and nudged his head forward. "He's been through worse. We all have. We all will."

"He's gotta be okay," she whimpered. "He was talking about a choir and all that so happily, I.. I want to see that happen, too."
Reine watched unhappily as Robert patched the other man up, furiously wiping her tears away. There wasn't much else she could say, given the circumstances- or rather, she didn't feel like she could say anything, having been the one to hurt him that badly.

Robert groaned when the choir was mentioned, and nearly dropped Jerry right there and then.
"Is he still going on about that? Look, it's great that he's doing it and all but-"
He suddenly remembered exactly what Reine had said in her blubbering, and sobered up quickly. "Hold on a second. You were trying to help him fight me? All this.. all this was about me?"
He slumped, giving Reine a scolding look.
"I know we're on good terms right now, kitten.. but that don't mean you can get to meddling in my affairs. That just ain't right."

"That's because he looked so sad about it I didn't want him to be sad," she wailed, tagging along with him and clinging to his jacket as they walked to the infirmary. "You should've seen how happy he looked when I said maybe I could help him and that's all I wanted to do really I mean..."
Reine turned up to look at him. Puppydog eyes. Bottom lip quivering.
"I just thought.. I could do something for him... It's not like it's about you, I mean, I'm not asking you to do it or anything it's just maybe he could've had a better chance with getting you to join or something.."

Well, at the very least Reine's explanation made him feel better. He loosened up, giving her a soft nod as he carried the body in. "Well, that's all right then. That's a good thing you tried to do, kitten.." His eyes fell on Jerry's bloodied face. "Though, I would suggest.. maybe next time try to do your good deeds with a little less force."
He tried not to laugh. No, he really did, but the fact was, he knew Jerry would be all right, and he also knew that Reine had just beat the everloving s**t out of a man who'd been in practice far longer than her. There was also the small fact that Reine had beaten him into submission - twice.
"God damn, kitten." Robert finally chuckled out. "I am glad you're on our side."

"Iwasn'treallytryingreally," she retorted, her voice small. "Just you know he was all I'm gonna give up and I didn't think he should because he was doing pretty good and..."
Reine stopped walking, her hand still clenching Robert's jacket tightly.
"I don't want to hurt you guys," she whispered. "Not anymore- not like in the trial, because we're phoenix and we have to.. stick together and.."
The girl lowered her head just a bit, to hide her blush.
"Please don't tell boss, I promised I'd keep myself in check.."

Robert stopped in his tracks, craning his head to the side to stare at her incredulously.
"This is you when you're not trying?" His voice hitched up at the end, eyes widening in disbelief. "What the ******** would have happened if you were trying, would his HEAD have exploded?" His raucous laughter bellowed out from his mouth, only to get stifled when he realized he was shaking Jerry. "Ah, s**t."
Robert continued walking, giving Reine a side glance every so often. "You shouldn't be so worried about the boss finding out, Reine." Robert murmured. "These are spars. I mean, me and him did it. Me and Jerry, we did it. The boss even took on Maddie. We all do this to get ready for the real battles."
His voice softened. "He's not gonna be mad at you. I promise."

"Don't joke about it," she cried, swatting him on the arm before squeaking and backing off quickly-- "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that either.."
Sniffling, she trailed behind him; they would reach soon, and then hopefully Jerry would be okay.
"You can't tell me you get used to the sight of people you care about.. hurt?" Maybe she'd eventually get to that point, but she couldn't imagine it now. Reine imagined Jordan- or Petra (because Robert couldn't carry Robert), broken and bleeding, in Robert's arms, and started crying again.
"It's different, okay, I don't care if I beat them up, because they're not you.."
