"Freya?" he repeated, side tracked. "He's crushing on Freya? What a jackin' MORON," he muttered, shaking his head. "Oh, I bet that's REAL ugly, too, knowing her..." He frowned, his mind whirling to get back on track. "Now we should do it even more, cuz if the guy ever DID get into this school he'd wind up dead by the end of the first day."
He looked her in the eye, placing his hands on her skinny shoulders. "You and me, we're friends, right, Lark?" he asked, a wicked grin pulling at the corner of his lips. "You want him to know you're doin' fine on your own, makin' new friends, right?"

Lark nodded, her mouth twisted. "Yer tellin' me. He's such a nong, Ket is. Almost went to talk to this ghoul's boil 'cept when I made th'threat she poofed up like an angry cat -- this was all b'fore I socked 'er in th'eye." Lark exhaled loudly, tucking away her hankie in her vest pocket.
"Yer th'best friend I got here, Roch," she said earnestly. "I'unno if Ket really cares much 'bout th'friends I'm makin' here. He clams up when I talk 'bout meetin' you n' your weapon." He'd piqued her interest, though. "What're you thinkin', boil?"

Clams up, huh? Hmmm. Maybe, but he wasn't too sure. Either way-- His grin turned positively evil. "Let's show him how well you're doing," he said. "Pictures with a friend, hell, I'd want to know my best friend was happy at school. And nothin' better to prove it than pictures! You and me, whaddaya say? And you can show him just how NOT jealous you are of him and his new pal."
He stood. "Let me finish up my guitar real quick, want her to look pretty for the picture, y'know? Then we'll have a photo shoot!"

But.. her face was still so puffy from crying, her nose red and snotty. Roch seemed pretty excited about it, though... and it did seem like a pretty good idea. She doubted it'd make anyone jealous, but ... at the very least it would make her feel better about being stuck at this school. At least she had friends like Roch, and... even Savior, right?
That made her feel immensely better.
Lark smiled at Roch. "Alright, then." Screw her puffy eyes and snotty nose. This was taking her mind off of things, and that's just what she needed.

"You'll have to get cleaned up again," he said before pulling the faceplate down and starting to work. No point in doing it when she looked like she'd been crying. No, she needed to look happy. But this would take a while, the puffiness would fade before he was finished, he figured.
He didn't rush the sharpening, it was important. And it was almost half an hour when he was done, his guitar looking sleek and sexy once again. "There we go," he said, tugging his helmet off. "Let's go get you cleaned up and find a place to take pictures!"

Lark exhaled, reaching down to pick up the helmet he'd given her when they'd first entered the smithy. The entire time he worked at his guitar, Lark lost herself once more in the sparks that flew. She thought about Ben, mostly, and terror kept seizing her chest. No, she couldn't start crying again.
By the time Roch was finished with his guitar, the redness had mostly faded from her nose and her eyes had become less swollen. For that she was thankful, and when Roch tugged her helmet off, she did as well. His guitar was gloriously honed, and Lark gave it one last appreciative glance before peering up at him again.
"Right, then." She cleared her throat. "Where d'ya think we should go t'clean up? An' I ain't got no idea where t'go for pictures, neither."

"How about we show him parts of the school while we're at it?" he asked. "You could say it's a tour of sorts, or something, and while we're doing that, we'll stop by Professor Malcolm's place, in case you still don't believe me about Ben," he added, heading for the dorm building again. "I ain't sure if he's got a weapon or a familiar, but he's older than us, so I figure he could tell you for sure."
He turned back to look at her. "But I SWEAR there's nothin' wrong with Ben."

Lark nodded with a grin, one that was reminiscent of the Lark before this last ordeal with the hunters and the horsemen. That spark dimmed slightly when Roch mentioned Ben.
"I wanna believe ya, Roch," she sighed. "I'll.. I just need some time t'make sure everythin's right. That's all. I.." she trailed off. He was such nice boil, trying to reassure her that everything was going to be fine, that Ben was whole and all she had to do was grow the balls to summon him.
"I'll try t'night," she promised. "I swear. I'll try t'night and I'll text ya?" It wasn't something that she wanted to do in public -- how humiliating would it be if Ben WASN'T okay? Lark didn't even want to think about it.

"Okay," he said slowly, "but look," he added, digging into his pocket and showing her a badge. "I got Malcolm's badge. He's one of the professors I would trust to be honest about this. So, y'know, if you really want to know before you try--"
He shrugged and slipped it back into his pocket, heading through the dorms and down the stairs to his own room. "Bathroom's right there, ah... just shove the hair stuff out of the way if you need to," he told her. "I didn't bother to clean up too much this morning--actually, I should check my hair, too. That helmet always screws it up."
He headed for the large bathroom, standing in front of the mirror and digging through the massive amount of hair products. There was plenty of space for both of them.

Lark took a moment to boggle at the massive MASSIVE amount of hair supplies that littered the bathroom. She was distracted by them, picking one up to read the label before setting it down to pick up another. Repeating this a few times, Lark grinned at Roch.
"Y'got more hair crap here'n I do," she chuckled softly, shaking her head. It was the first laugh that had managed to squeeze past the knot in her throat. Lark playfully fussed at his slightly-mussed hair. "Silly boil." She shook her head before turning on the sink and splashing her face with water. It felt so nice against her hot face.
Reaching out for a towel, Lark grabbed at air while squeezing her eyes shut.
"I'll give 'er a go tonight, Roch. Y'don't have ta -- y'got a towel mate? -- y'don't have ta worry, yeah? Jus' gimme yer number and I'll text ya t'night. I jus' ... I can do it, Roch. I jus' need some time's all."

Roch pulled out a towel from under the sink, handing it to her. "Okay," he said. "Now, c'mon, lets go take some pictures!" he said, once she had dried off and he was positive his hair looked good.
"Let's start in front of the dorms. You got a camera in your phone? Or do we need to use mine?"

"I got a camera," she nodded, lifting a brow at him while she dug in her back pocket for her phone. "Dad made sure I had th'latest model for some reason. I'unno." Presenting her phone to him, she beamed. "There."
As they made their way to the front of the dorms, Lark paused. "Y'know, I think Ket might appreciate these pictures," she said slowly. "Even after I told'im not t'come, he still says he's gonna try to." Lark shook her head. "He's so stubborn."

"Then we'll be doin' a good thing!" Roch said shamelessly as they headed out to in front of the dorm. He turned so his back was to the building and motioned her over. "Now, we'll do this," he said, draping an arm over her shoulders. "Take a picture of us with the dorm building in the background."
Oh, he would probably burn in hell for things like this. But it wasn't going to stop him.

Lark instinctively leaned into Roch, wrapping her arm around his waist while she held her phone out so that she could snap a picture. This was pretty good, actually, and Lark couldn't wait to show Ket. There wasn't any jealousy in what she was doing, and she wasn't trying to do anything that would invoke jealousy in Kettil. She was just ... happy.
For the first time since coming to school, and despite her terror regarding Ben, Lark was happy.
"How's tha' look?" She held her phone out to Roch so he could give his opinion.

"Looks good! Your friend, is he a reaper, too? Or is he something else? Cuz we might want to get a picture of the other dorms too," he said, grinning. He, unlike Lark, was being evil, and enjoying it. "The monster dorm is seriously cool, and the demon dorm is all sorts of overdone," he told her, heading for the next dorm. "I ain't so fond of the ghost one, but I've got some friends there now. And the undead dorm isn't too bad, either!"
He seemed to have friends in all of them, if you listened closely. The question was, how many of those friends were ghouls?
