Vanessa, after reading the text message, had trailed in just in time to hear Dr. H starting to speak. She moved to a wall, her long orange hair barely touching the white surface in places where the hair waved out. She listened to her division leader's explanation of who the woman chained to the table was. So, this was one of the four great Horsemen? Or at least a heir to that role? Vaguely, Vanessa wondered which horse had been the one to kill her back during her trial.

Seeing as this was going to be a lesson on observation, a trait she would need to improve on if she was going to be a good Life Hunter, Vanessa turned her attention to the woman. She was gloveless and shoeless, and Vanessa spotted one of the scarlet hand covers against a wall, the other in the woman's hand from when Dr. H placed it there. Death had those wings, a fitting image when compared to every possible cultural reference to life's end.

A thought occured to Vanessa, and she told herself she'd have to ask it later. The question in her mind was: Did Death lead the Reapers of Halloween?

Minerva couldn't help but fall silent as the heir spoke up, kicking a hip outward slowly while her arms crossed just below her bosom. Something about comic books and nerd-rage stole her attention momentarily, eyes bouncing from each of the boys before a tiny smirk curled at the ends of her lips; cute. But it would soon die away as Death continued; a horrible sinking feeling causing her brows to furrow worriedly.

Unlike the others, the death trainee didn't know what to say. According to the Doctor they would be 'beginning' very soon, which would probably take care of any lingering questions she may have...but around the heir of Death, the giant horse as others claimed her to be; Minnie didn't exactly feel comfortable enough to follow along with banter of any sort.

So, with a brief nod of acknowledgement to most who entered (a particularly long stare for Vanessa, a quick smile suggesting an approach?) Minerva took to twirling a dirty-blond strand around a single finger while listening to the back and forth commentary shared between the other trainees.

The fist bump was returned before Before gave the "heir" his full attention. "So she's Death? Wait, air?" he blinked, trying to figure out how exactly that related to Death. She's the air to Death but... did Death need to breathe in the first place?

It took him some time to figure out the proper spelling "Oooh, heir like with the h-e, not the a-i one... Huh..." he tilted his head as he stared at her, then leaned to Bix to whisper, "She looks kinda young... would've thought she'd be... iunno older-looking or something..." Before was not one to talk. He didn't look his age of twenty one and many would agree he certainly didn't act his age. "So we just... watch her all creep-like?" he whispered again.

Aleister had gave a small wave to Harrison, he couldn't help but to wonder what had happened to the other. However he stayed quiet as he listened to everyone else talk. To be honest he wasn't really sure what to do, listening to Dr. H he titled his head, don't enrage her?

<That's useful advice, 'don't piss her off'. I mean really Al she's shackled what could he heir of death do since she's shackled?> Puca was trying to start something it seemed like, instigate Aleister into doing something dumb.

<I don't know what you want me to do but I'm sure not going to be the one to Piss her off pookie.> Aleister informed his weapon.

"If we are quite ready to pay attention?" The doctor drawled, pulling a small scanner from his pocket, "I'll explain what you are expected to do in the examination rooms. This is a FEAR scanner," he held the item up, "You press the little greenlit button on the side, and then scan those made of FEAR. This will take only a moment, my dear." He explained to them slowly, running the scanner down slowly, several inches from Death's body. The green light turned blue and he pulled it away.

"And there you have it. Now the next step is also quite simple." Replacing the scanner, he now pulled out a very familiar thermometer-esque item. "Now, Lady Death, while I'm sure you're no stranger to pain, I'd rather avoid inflicting it upon your lovely person." He held the item out to her, "If you would, please place the narrow end in your mouth until it gives a small chime."

The Doctor had her undivided attention in almost an instant - in that sort of adoring hero sort of way. Cass might have been on a crash course for disaster if she considered Dr. H to be a role model of any type, but still he did tell the best stories (she could happily use the one about Excalibur as a bedtime story for herself) and now he gave the most lovely instructions on..scanning, it seemed.

Curious.

She watched him, fascinated and perhaps almost gleeful in that twisted little obsessive way she was becoming about things related to their little island home.

Well, that first step seemed simple enough, though one burning question popped into her head and the only thing keeping her from immediately blurting it out was Nicodemus sitting on the brakes in her head going "NO NO NO NO NO NO". She'd hold onto it and maybe ask with an adoring and fascinated look on her face about it later.

I love you, murderous fatbird.

It seemed to be almost like a check-up of sorts. So the Horsewomen, Death, was their patient, was she?

Alright. So Death. He was cool with just calling her that. A part of Deryk wondered if he could get away with Lady Deathstrike despite the fact that she really didn't look anything like her. Eh, he better not.

When Dr H spoke up again, he turned towards him and stared at the device curiously. Peeking around, he tried to get a better look, intrigued with the technology. There was also the thermometer, which also sparked some curiosity. Though, he was still a little confused at what they were planning on doing with Death here. Right now it was like she was just getting checked up.

Maybe they were trying to see what made her tick?

Aisa stared pointedly at the narrow object that the Doctor held out for her. She turned her head inquisitively, turning to glance at the fear scanner. Her carefully cultivated poker expression disappeared as she threw her head back to chuckle, coal black hair bobbing up and down as she fingered the thermometer-like object between her thumb and pointer finger, the smooth material rolling easily in her palm.

"That must be why you are called Doctor." She couldn't seem to help the laugher that came on and off everything her eyes landed on the object, shaking her head. Her other hand lifted to run her fingers through her sleek hair, pushing her bangs back, her hair gathering over her shoulder as she found some sort of hilarious amusement in the check-up routines. Both hands pulled at the tips of the long cylindrical object, her thumbs bending inwards as if she was about to bend the trivial object.

But bending it held less appeal, so she didn't.

Had he examined the other heirs in their trivial human routines? If so, did Connie eat the thermometer? Aisa could imagine Cym throwing it at the doctor .. And Eris burning the little stick with a mere lifting of her fingertips.

Nevertheless, the heir was surprisingly docile as she followed the first step of the doctor's instructions. The inconspicuous object was likely to be harmful~ However, with a room full of fear-imbued weapons, a deus ex leader backed up with trainees .. There was only the slimmest of chances that it would not be forced down her one way or another. If this implanted a chip or something of that sort, Aisa wasn't averse to the idea of slicing her own stomach to force the object out of her body. With the insanity coursing through her, she might go even farther~

A distinct sound could be heard throughout the room-- A sort of "khk" sound.

Did Aisa just bite the themometer?

Before watched in silent fascination when Dr. H began to explain and demonstrate the use of the scanner. Though he was silent, Before's mouth was curled into a small "O" as the Life Hunter Division leader offered what he assumed was a thermometer. Huh. So these things had body temps too? Interesting... But could it be measured the way a human's was?

Looks like he wasn't going to find out until later when he heard a faint crunch. Uh... teal eyes blinked as he quirked a brow. "What's that supposed accomplish?" he murmured to his fellow trainees. He could ask Death herself but he wasn't interested in getting in her sights. Let that be Dr. H's job > n>

"The call me doctor for quite a few reasons, you know." He murmured, eyes fixed and intent on the woman's actions. His lips twitched at the sound of the thermometer breaking, "As you may note, our guest's teeth are quite strong. You would be advised to keep your fingers at a safe distance." The thermometer gave a painful dying chime before half of it dropped away from her mouth, the doctor's swiftly hand plucking it up midfall. "Thank you, my dear, your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Well..." he turned to the rest of the gathering.

"Chances are at least part of her race and subspecies information got recorded, but we really will need a full read. And on a regular basis. Fortunately we have you adventuresome little goslings, ready and willing to risk a few fingers in the name of Science. Three times a day one of you will be performing these two simple tasks. Though I will be expecting you to keep the Lady in some measure of comfort, so please do see to any of her ah...less deathly needs, hm?"

Fingers drummed against her cheek as the procedure began, fully attentive to the Doctor's every word with a narrowed appreciation for his lack of fear. Her lips were fixed in place and unmoving while Death was scanned, waiting with a wrinkled brow for something to go horribly wrong.

The cracking sound in between the whites of their captive was alarming, but not exactly what worried her. Dropping her shoulders from their suddenly tense position, Minerva released a breath of relief and tilted her head some with interest. So the purpose of all this was to gather information. To learn more about the horsemen and their roots, so to speak...Minnie couldn't help but feel a trickle of excitement, sliding a hand across her shoulder to brush what strands of hair she had been playing with earlier. This she could handle! This she didn't need very much preparation for! There had been four of these things with Caelius when he came strolling into the fields of Halloweentown- it seemed that they were lucky enough to get the semi-obedient one. At least it seemed that way...

Minerva thought on this, blinking several times.

Well I'm thinking that those chains are probably more than just shackles to keep her from taking too many steps forward. They must have some sort of electrical current in them, or something that would promote good behavior..? Otherwise I highly doubt we would be left to care for her on our own like this.

Well, she's the heir to some death horse. I don't think anyone would really get a good vibe from her.

Another smile crossed her lips, small and meant for no one but Blythe.

"For how long?" Minerva chimed in as the doctor finished, tilting her head slightly. "Will we all be tending to Death's needs at some point, then?" Not that she wanted to.

Cass stared at Aisa when she broke the thermometer off in her mouth, with a sort of awe. A pathetic awe, but she looked up to the Doctor as he explained why he'd been demonstrating the action of scanning the Horsemen and all of these careful measurements that were being taken. Species information? The thought that there were more Horsemen than just the four (clans) came back and was mildly horrifying, to be honest.

But she didn't press it.

"Will we be assigned rounds for when we do this, or will it be on a volunteer basis, sir?" the adoration from the mist trainee spoke everything; She would do all the things for him. All of them. Well, all of the ones she had in mind with the scanning and risking her fingers. Not..other things. But still.

Cass, calm down. Your fangirl is showing...

Before's gaze bounced from Dr. H to Aisa to Dr. H then Aisa and back, all the while his expression indicating he was so not "IT" for this particular task. Ahahaha no, please no, he's fine with being a gopher for their guest but he is not putting his hands or fingers or body parts anywhere near her. He doubted he'd be able to catch anything broken in mid-fall the way Dr. H had. Even though Caelius might have been a badass on the field, there was just something different in the badassery that the Life Hunter Division leader displayed.

Is it possible that it's because he has charm and charisma? And that he doesn't feel the need to use such obviously physical means of discipline? I do admire someone capable of subtlety.

... Then why did you pick me? :/ Before mentally asked.

Oh silly Before, I chose you for a multitude of reasons. Subtlety is not one of them. Rest assured, I am your partner for as long as you will have me.

That placated Before enough to chime in on Cass' question, "Is it going to be done one person at a time? Or in pairs or groups?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 03, 2011 12:03 am

Half of the thermometer remained in between the wet grip of Aisa's teeth, ignoring the remains that fell into Dr. H's hand. Two slender digits extracted the narrow metallic object from her tongue, brushing briefly against the flat curve of her teeth. She stared at the inner parts of the object, wondering how they invented such useful little sticks. All of these little things with their gears and chips .. The pad of Aisa's thumb ran curiously over a sharp corner, a consequential result of her bite, a thin red line piercing the thin flesh.

But sticks were sticks. The slightest bit of pressure, added with a slicing pressure .. Fingers could be bitten off as well too, couldn't it?

Aisa's head tipped back, her fingers curved at a short distance above her open mouth, the little droplets of blood falling sweetly onto her tastebuds. Blood always held such a distinctive but delicious quality, each drop different from the rest. Perhaps, while she was here, she might be able to taste a sample of some delectable hunter blood.

She would get a chance, if these trainees were expecting to get three samples a day. They were risking enough to merely get one, her sly smile couldn't hide the skeptical scoff that echoed loudly throughout the room. Her eyes tipped to the side, giving a rounded glance to the trainees situated amongst various walls of the room. She gave a tiny shake of her head, the silent gesture behind Dr. H's back, promising that any trainee who tried would be fulfilling a sacrifice of their hands in the process.

The leftover thermometer made a soft screeching sound, the sound of sharp metal trying to dig into a much deeper metal. Metals dragged against each other, Aisa was delighted by the presence of her brand new sharp toy.

"Musical, isn't it? For my first request, might I ask for a dying puppy? Minipets can only die so much before they disappear~ I've been craving a human animal for such a long time. They bleed and bleed some more.."

From her excited tone, she could have been a child asking for a gift from Santa. Clearly, these trainees would be indulging like a pot-bellied fairy tale of a man. These trainees could grant such a simple request, couldn't they? Suddenly, Aisa seemed to be moved by a new idea, a pause in the musical metallic melody.

".. Perhaps, one of you care to be a puppy?"

"Why until we no longer need to, Minerva. It's quite possible that all of you will indeed have the opportunity to contribute your time to our current little project, but for now..." he pulled out a second thermometer, and took Cassandra's hand in his own, firmly placing it in her palm. The doctor closed her fingers over the piece of equipment, and gave them a small pat, "I will leave it in these very capable, extremely persistent, hands."

He let go, and turned to Before, "Ahhhhh....Mister Bates, yes, please do be of assistance. The rest of you should consider yourself very thoroughly volunteered. You'll find a clipboard outside in the hall, the time of your shift and who you find yourself with depends on how quickly you sign yourself up."

The doctor winced at the sound of grinding metal, and his grin was slightly toothier than usual as he bowed slightly to the captive, "It was, as always, a pleasure, beautiful Death." And with that he made his exit, leaving the trainees with the slightly bloody, increasingly creepy, and alarmingly excited horsewoman.
