While she explained the importance of leadership in their community, Calder only threw his head back and mouthed 'bla-bla-bla' and wanted to flop back dramtically. However, he was connected at the moment and pulling back meant pulling Riley forward. "I don't have insecurities." He said, sticking his tongue out at her. Yeah. Denial. Very mature.
Aside from that, hearing that she would actually just HANG with Christof was a plus in her favor, and he stood up straighter, more serious than just a second ago. "It's a start. The main thing is that you treat him as a person. He puts value in everyone else. He needs to put value on his own to make his own decisions and not feel so damn bad that he does things he likes. Chrsitof already has a bad master. I've met Dr. Fell. He sucks. Big time." Calder had to shiver just thinking about the guy. "He doesn't need another owner like that. He needs ANYTHING but that."
He looked about a moment before settling his eyes back to her. "I guess if you could do that, I won't be so huffy around you. Give ya a chance and .." He rolled his free hand in the air to finish his sentence. "Christof is just very important to me."

He is important to me, as well. Riley snapped back quickly, looking at him with a sullen expression. Then we have an agreement. I would shake you on it, but, we are already holding hands enough. Now, to the task at hand - if you cannot manage this on your own, perhaps we should go see Cricket about this?

"Okay. Okay." He said, not wanting to be snapped at. Especially when they were this close. "Then we can agree that's he's important to both of us." Though Calder felt he thought Christof was more important to him than Riley, but he wouldn't voice that thought.
As for Cricket, he was against it. "No. I don't want to go to Cricket. I'm not sick. She'll just get upset I wasted her time, and I don't want her to know and this isn't that sort of issue at all. She has enough students to deal with with all the recent injuries." He didn't feel he got off on a good food with Cricket, and he tried to avoid her office as much as he could.
No. He had to find another way. Not water. No. Not that around Riley. Never again. Not acid. He wanted to keep his limbs, and Christof would beat him if he burned off Riley's' hand. The suggestion about....lubrication might work. His skin was gripping, and maybe if they had something to break that suction....something slippery....wet...
Calder perked up, open his mouth as an idea dawned, and then closed it as he reconsidered it. What would his boilfriend say? Though Barth did tell his secret with the thorns to him. It was only fair he could got to him with this little problem, and the boil did produce slime. Biting his lip, he opened his mouth again. "We should go to see Barth. He could help."

Barth? Riley's hesitance was instant, but her reassessment proved positive. No, you're right. He probably would have something helpful in his arsenal. In fact, she was liking this idea more and more as she thought about it. Yes. Brilliant. Calder, let us go seek out Barth for assistance.
Was that a gleam of mischief in her eye? Naaaaah.

Calder smiled, glad that Riley wasn't going to throw a fuss. In fact, she seemed to be happy about his idea. Of course that just meant it was a smart one. Rising up, he more or less was already holding Riley's hand, and for that reason helped her up.
While it was awkward and he tried not to look at anyone as Riley and him held hands all the way to the demon dorms, they soon arrived at Barth's, Calder trotting a bit ahead as he was a little eager.
He knocked on the door. He had to be the one to tell Barth what was going on first.

"Yes, hello? Who is it?" Barth asked from behind the closed door. He was very fortunately in between naps, and therefore awake and able to do things like answer his door.
Scratchy music was playing inside, from what sounded like a gramophone.

Calder hit his forehead against the door, not wanting Barth to have a conversation with him through the door. He hoped he was at least on his way over. "BAAARRRTTTHHH!! It's me! Your - " He paused, trying not to glance at Riley. " - It's Calder! I need your help. Can you open the door please?"! He didn't want anyone else coming down these hallways and wondering what he and Riley were doing holding hands.

When the door opened, Barth was very clearly happy to see Calder.
"What do you- err,"
His expression went straight to confusion, then unease.
"hello, riley."

Riley had remained suspiciously quiet. When Barth opened the door, she made sure she was on the far side, and therefore only visible after the door had been completely opened. When she heard her name, her eyes crescented gently in amusement.
She lifted her hand, which coincidentally still held Calder's, and waved it. Oh. Hello Barth. Lovely to see you again.

Calder was flustered bringing Riley here, especially in the situation they were in, which was why he wanted to be the first to talk and set things straight. "Hi Barth. I'm in a bit of an emergency here with Riley that we wanted to urgently fix. See, Riley had mentioned we'd need some form of, well, lubrication, and then I thought of you, since we'd need to get a bit slippery in hopes of releasing, I mean I hope that will happen since we're already tried and it just didn't seem to work, and since we wanted it to happen as soon as possible I rushed right over to ask you for your help." He was breathing quick, glad he got the first word in.

Barth looked very slowly from Calder to Riley, trying to digest this information. Lubrication. Relief. Out of breath. Holding hands.
He asked, as calmly as he could muster, "...You aren't under Contract, are you."

Riley was also glad Calder got the first word in. They were fantastic words. All she had to do was smile.
Barth's response made her laugh, but he never heard it. Instead, she leaned just slightly to the side, took Calder's shirt by the collar, and pulled it slightly.
Huh, I don't see my mark on his chest.. Calder, did I accidentally mark you when you were on top of me?
This was simply delightful.

Calder hadn't been expecting that response. "Why would I want to be under contract for this? I never asked to be attached to her." Like anyone would wish for that! Well, then again, he could think of one undead who would.
When he felt fingers around his neck, moving his shirt collar and between his cravat, he jerked back and placed his free hand on his neck. "Don't." It was a warning. There was a lot of concern he had for anyone who went near his neck. He would have stepped back more, but he knew he was limited.
He kept an eye on Riley before looking back at Barth. "She didn't mark me. Like you said. No more marks. I just needed some help and thought of you. Since, well, you came to me before for - well, things." He didn't want to mention thorns in front of Riley since he knew Barth wasn't comfortable about the topic. "...and now I have a thing." He held up his hand that was attached to Riley. Of course it just looked as if they were holding hands.
"We're stuck on each other."

Barth tried to reprocess as Riley peeled away the shirt from Calder's neck and chest.
"I'm...I'm not still napping, am I?" he asked a little hazily, then checked his vest pocket as if it would produce a piece of paper with the answer on it. "Ah," he said, when he didn't find one, and mysteriously came to the conclusion, "Not napping. Alright."
He took a deep breath.
"Things," he repeated, very severely.

This game was fun. Extremely fun. But she was still standing in Barth's doorway with her hand attached to Calder's - and Riley was never very patient.
So she ruined the game for everyone.
With a quick sigh, she rolled her eyes. Okay. I am not ******** you boilfriend, Barth. His hand is stuck to mine. Help him out before we enlist Christof and a set of knives on the matter. Can you help, or not?
