"Well of course." the Mongol confirmed, sighing before approaching the soul conduit and drawing her hand to him. A slight frown marred his lips as he briefly glanced about, making sure that his act would not read as affection if Sarangerel didn't want it to. He didn't see how it mattered so much, though, in the middle of all of this chaos. If anything, no one would notice and it wouldn't matter at all. He didn't recognize the woman who had asked for help just moments before and, to tell the truth, he was also quite convinced that he didn't care about her. All that mattered to the captain was the immediate, and right now he was surrounded with a group of people he knew fairly well. There was Kiran and there was Van and then there was Sara and that was solid enough for the Mongolian man.

He released Sara's hand and turned to Kiran, nodding his head in greeting. "A few people are still alive, I suppose." Bat declared, his tone far lighter than he actually felt. This was a situation in which he felt stretched to his limits, after all. He was a captain and perhaps they might expect him to know what was going on, but he knew no more than they possibly could at this stage. All he knew was that there were bodies, not to mention many unfamiliar faces. It was a scene of devastation away from a battlefield and he honestly wasn't certain of how he ought to be handling it.

Bat glanced apprehensively at the other Lunarians clearly uncertain as to whether or not he ought to trust them. Not knowing someone in this situation was an enormous risk to take if one was to spend too much time in their company. The sides were separating out slowly and spies had become more and more common as the war had progressed. Anyone could fill the role successfully as far as Bat was concerned as he panned over the faces that were not quite familiar. Trusting any of these people here and now was going to be difficult.

User ImageSara looked down at her hand as he grabbed it. she squeezed it with the little strength she had. She was scared, she might not want to admit it to the rest of the group, but she could not hide it from him. She could hardly hide anything from him these days, not after she had spent so much time with him. Sure most of the time he was sleeping but she was there never the less, just like she said she would be. It was still odd to see him up and about, this whole day had seemed nightmarish, maybe she was imagining it all - or would that just be wishful thinking?

When he let go of her she turned, in truth not really wanting him to let go of her. She watched as he wondered over to the other noble, by the looks of it they were the only two in the group. Sara but a hand on the back of his arm, then resting her head against his shoulder for a moment - in truth it was the only place her head could reach, she had forgotten how much he towered her. "I am glad you are okay." She stated closing her eyes for a moment, before heading over to Lestari.

It did not surprise her in the slightest that Bataar and Kiran knew each other. She thought it best not to hover around him, they all had work to do here. Starting with the fact they had to help the woman who had approached them. It made her stomach flutter slightly, not knowing what was going to happen. It made her nervous, for now she would have to trust in them all, trust that they were strong enough to pull through this. Sometimes she forgot they were warriors, maybe that was the motherly instinct inside her acting up - she had always tried to push the thought that they were fighting to the back of her mind. She had never been forced to accept it like she was now. All she could do was help them when she could, it was all she was ever able to do.

It was hard for her to forget the trouble which might be heading their way, the ghosts of the dead were still uneasy, it felt like they were trying to warn her about something, or maybe they were trying to tell her what had happened. Never the less, she could not understand them, there was too many voices, too much confusion and she was not that advanced in her art - not yet.

When she reached the blue haired girl she stepped behind her and put her hands on her shoulders. "This is Lestari, she is my student. Lestari, this is Bataar." She nodded as she leaned down to whisper something only Les would be able to hear, she wanted to make it clear that Les was hers, she knew that sometimes it was hard for a Captain such as Bat to trust or even care about strangers, but if at all possible she wanted him to keep a eye out for her.

Les was a fairly new fighter and Sara did not know how she could cope with the battle to come. "I want you to listen to him, if we do get separated, he will bring you back to me." She nodded, letting go of the girls shoulders. She wanted to know that she would be safe, and she knew with Bataar she would be. She had all the faith in the world in the blue haired Lunarian, but faith did not get you far these days - neither did wishes or prayers. You could never be too careful as the body count indicated.

User ImageThe group grew in numbers quite rapidly, finally deeming the title of "party". What the strange women would ask of them was still unknown. Personally speaking he did not care what the request would entitle, his assistance was offered and that was final. The only thing that seemed to be missing now was some kind of table with food to gather around; Eiji laughed to himself at the thought. Needless to say staying serious was not a forte of his but he was able to keep what was on his mind inside. He never intended to show any kind of disrespect to the dead or the wishes of the group he was in. Staying serious was unfavorable in his eyes but he'd do it to not be rude.

Eiji greeted all that came near with a small acknowledging nod. Watching the reactions the others had when meeting their friends and acquaintances got him thinking. Maybe he should have checked home first before roaming the streets for news. As disappointing as it may be he wasn't as worried about them as he should have been. He knew they'd be fine, but it doesn't mean he should have skipped them by all together. Probably worrying more about one brother in particular he distanced the thoughts from his mind. Well, it's too late for worrying now. In his own defense he can get distracted easily, and seeing dead bodies pile up is definitely a worthy and understandable distraction.

The expressions the others gave off seemed harmless enough but one stood out in particular: wavering trust, knowing the expression well, despite never using it himself. He could place no blame on the man for what was on his mind. In times like these it's only logical to take every encounter with caution Not trusting at all was sometimes better, safer, then even an attempt to try. Eiji simply shrugged off the expectation; can't expect everyone to be as carefree as he typically is.

"Good, good."

The words were almost dismissive, the dark haired woman idly poking a finger against Kiran's cheek as though making sure he was properly there. She tossed her head, pale shoulders sprinkled with scales and beamed a smile at all those who had responded to her.

"Such eager things," came the playful response, and she let go of who she had been clinging to, sweeping across to the white haired Lunarian, her slender fingers drifting through the pale strands.

"You're rather pretty," she crooned, and then her light green eyes fell across a woman with teal hair holding the hand of a rather large and muscular man.

"You there."

The tone of voice was much more commanding.

"You are a soul conduit, are you not? I will require your assistance soon. As for the rest of you..."

The coy look was back in her eyes.

"I am looking for someone very important, though I cannot do it on my own. I have heard rumor that he is within the confines of the city, though he may be in a disguise of sorts. Will you help me in locating him? I will start in the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar."

[ OOC: You may choose either to follow this strange woman or not, but your choice may affect where you go. ]

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. There's one person that Lestari hadn't failed to notice, and that was the large burly looking Lunarian making his way over to them. She narrowed her eyes as he came up to Sara, so it seemed she knew him too. Was this the person she had talked about when they had first met? Now he certainly was not what Lestari had expected of someone Sara might take a liking too, maybe he was of the gentle giant kind, but those scars were hard to miss. Kiran also seemed to know him too, well jeez didn't Lestari feel like a cooped up hen. When he took Sara's hand, Lestari's suspicions were only confirmed, this was certainly the one Sara had mentioned. She watched him with keen interest now, she wanted to know all the details from Sara once they were out of the streets. Les glanced behind her as Sara laid her hands on her shoulder, before glancing back at Bataar. “It's nice to meet you.” She stuck her hand out, his would probably engulf hers completely.

As the woman moved from one person to the other, Lestari took notice of the other that had recently joined them. Another girl clad in pretty purple hues, Kiran had said her name... Van was it? Lestari hadn't really paid attention to anything since Sara had introduced her to Batarr, but Les thought she was very beautiful, she thought the woman clashed with the ugliness of their surroundings, probably why she was popping out like the white haired Lunarian. Lestari could not help but stare at the woman at last, she certainly had not missed the tone of voice she had used with Sara.

There was no way. Lestari was leaving Sara with this woman, no way at all. If she did end up getting separated then she hoped that Bataar would be there as Sara shadow. If anything, Lestari owed this much to Sara for taking the risk of lying for her to get her out of the house and help her as she grew. Les's eyes flickered to Bataar, wondering if he was having the same train of thought as her, if he wasn't the soft giant type, then she prayed he wasn't the big and slow kind. In both cases, at least he could provide as a shield and that's all she wanted, and if he he was indeed whom she thought he was, he wouldn't let Sara come to harm. Why did I ever promise to run...

She was being too playful, too out of place as she pranced from one Lunarian to the other. Lestari was curious, she was not about to help some woman when they knew nothing of who she was, or who she was even looking for, or why she needed to find this person. Everyone was so ready to help, except Les who was most likely to sit in the sidelines, but that did not unveiled the secrets that veiled the woman. “What's your name, and who are we trying to find?” Her tone was patient, and her eyes held a curious look to them. Bars were dangerous places, if Sinta knew she was heading to a bar, she'd have her head. If something did happen, and one of them survived at least they would have some form of name and face.

User Image His eyes flicked downward, taking notice of Bataar and Sara's linked hands. His brow knitted for the briefest of moments then he quirked up a questioning eyebrow. The change in his expression happened quickly before his face settled back into friendly neutrality. If romance was blooming between Bataar and Sara - though from the looks of things perhaps it already had - then it would come as much a shock to him as the relationship between Jianyu and Yue.

His attention was drawn away from his friends as the woman spoke again and poked at his cheek. It was hard to ignore a woman draped over him, and while his focus had been on other things, he could hardly forget the woman's presence. Then the woman had left him, moving over to the white haired Lunarian. He watched her movements like he might read something in the way she moved and interacted with everyone in their group. But it was like trying to decipher some strange code that didn't make a bit of sense to him.

Kiran glanced at Lestari, finding her questions logical given the situation. "My offer to help still stands," he said, still feeling like tagging along with this woman might lead to some answers about what was going on. "But," he nodded toward Lestari, "it would be helpful to know more about the person you want us to find. And what is this about him being in a disguise?" They couldn't exactly help to locate someone if they had no knowledge of who the person was or what he even looked like.

User Image (( Hey everyone, Kaya has gone to Berlin so she will not be able to post for a while, for not just presume that Bataar is following the main group - she will post again when it is, at all, possible. ))

Sara looked at her, rubbing the back of her head with a somewhat nervous chuckle. "I am a conduit, that is right. How many I be of assistance?" She asked, wondering how her abilities would help her find the person she was looking for. Maybe there was a spirit she wanted her to summon, or maybe she needed to interrogate some people who were no longer with us. One thing was for sure, whatever this woman might have wanted, she was certainly not been clear about her intentions - it made her slightly on edge. In truth she would prefer to have more information, yet she did not see what harm could come to such a big group.

Lunaria needed people to trust each other, everyone was too suspicious. She wanted to trust this woman, she wanted to lead by example. Doing so she looked around, giving a warm smile to her team-mates. She reached and held onto Lestari's hand, nodding her head and looking towards the bar. She wondered why this man would need a disguise, or why he was so important.

No doubt some rich Lunarian had gone missing in the chao's.

User ImageBy now he would have noticed that perhaps, he had been sorely mistaken. An eclectic group in terms of appearances and backgrounds yes, but it was becoming quite apparent that most of them in the group were somehow acquainted to each other, either as friends or through mutual friends. That realisation did serve to perturb the young man, but he remained that there was no pressure to get too friendly now. Especially now. Mu Ying eyed the interaction between the Soul conduit and the Captain, keeping his expression unreadable.

The poker face was nearly broken by the woman's sudden advances. Mu Ying stood rooted to the spot as she approached, twitching ever so slightly as she ran her hand through his hair. The Lunarian shifted his gaze towards her but it was not hostile. If she was going to play this game with them... with him... who is to say he couldn't do the same. The young man raised his eyebrows and smiled – only with his eyes – as the woman made her passing comment.

Mu Ying tilted his head towards the woman as she made her demand and request, eyeing her with a little curiosity. Asking mere strangers to find someone in a disguise was most certainly an uphill if not unreasonable. However since the others have spoken he would speak no further.

User Image Growing tired of standing around Eiji adjusted his stance to a more wide spread, self-propped up one as he crossed his arms across his chest. "Haha, your man must be in some kind of trouble if he needs a disguise," Eiji toyed, "But I am still available to assist in any way that I can. This should be interesting." If anything learning that the someone the strange women was looking for was in hiding with a disguise made it all the bit more excited. Eiji was going to tag along on this "hunt". He then began to wonder if this was just the start of something bigger. The atmosphere that came from Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar felt foreign and unwelcoming. Maybe he was away from home for too long.

Sumu's eyes studied the strange woman. Instincts animals can sometimes be more keen to reality and truth but whether or not Sumu was just watching a new face in interest or weary was unknown. He is a cat after all, one can not simply ask him his thoughts. Either was he watched and followed the woman closely, remaining quiet, with interest.

It was about then did Eiji notice just how quiet and to himself the white haired lunarian was. Everyone else was reacting in some fashion but the man simply stood there. Not that it was exactly a bad thing it was just a bit unusual for him to see. Then again there really isn't much one can say in this situation without repeating oneself.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. The Fighter had smiled back at those who greeted her easily enough—it was comforting that she recognized many of the faces in the surrounding group. Even though their allegiances were mixed, it seemed that neither side knew what was going on, and so they could still fight together… at least for now. When Bataar joined the group mere moments after Van herself had, she looked at him and nodded reluctantly. Their relationship had always been strained, and no doubt one of them would have acted on this by now, but the situation was bleak and there was no time for such games.

Van decided right away that she did not like the mysterious woman, and her scaled hands found their way to her belt, touching the hilts of her short butterfly swords. Perhaps it was because she was a stranger approaching a close-knit group of friends, but if this strange Lunarian had really needed some sort of urgent help, she could have done a much better job convincing them of it.

Instead, it merely seemed as though she was out to use them for her own personal gain. Van couldn’t explain how she knew this, but it was something about the mix of the woman’s tone of voice and her purposeful ambiguity. The Fighter herself had been known to employ this tactic often and efficiently, but it had never been for honest purposes. Looking around surreptitiously, the young woman searched the faces of her friends for signs that they felt similarly. She was relieved to find the first vestiges of suspicion among some of them, but still others seemed too happy to help someone too mysterious.

She said nothing, continuing to touch the swords at her waist in case she needed to protect the group. Until she received a satisfactory explanation, Van would not help. She would follow the group now, however—there were only four academy graduates among them, and her skills would be needed if the situation suddenly became violent.

A tinkling laugh escaped the woman's glossed lips, one hand raising to touch her fingers to her cheek.

"What's a name, anyway?" she replied lightly, taking in the teal haired young woman with a faint hint of interest to her pale gaze. "We are given these monikers in order to provide some sort of stability and recognition, yet we often forget that our names are a brand."

"But - " and here she laughed again, light and amused. "I go off track. Please, call me Soray. The man I am searching for is unnamed, however, known only by a series of false names. He is a tall man - old, but distinguished, with black hair that is streaked with grey, tied up. He dresses simply, but carries himself quite well, as though he is someone of importance. He knows much."

The too much at the end was left unspoken, something dancing in Soray's eyes as she peered around at the motley crew. Disregarding Sara's question - or perhaps she just hadn't heard the anxious inquisition - she said "We will start in the Inn - if there is no fortune with us, rumor has spoken that he is somewhere in the North. We will go there next. That is..."

A gaze beneath fluttered, low lashes out at the Lunarians. "If you are still willing to accompany me."

[ OOC: You may now either choose to explore the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar - if you do so, describe very briefly what you are doing - yes, the details are purposefully vague. After you have searched, return to meet with Soray at the front doors of the Inn. If you choose not to search, then you can post waiting for them to return, after which they will head to the North. ]

User Image Kiran's gaze didn't linger long on any particular member of the group. It was his habit to keep alert to his surroundings and observe anyone near him. Given the current situation, the habit seemed all the better as one could never be know when a surprise attack might come.

The woman spoke again, and Kiran's attention drifted back to her. He had never heard of or even seen the man that Soray described to them. A series of false names? It sounded like the man wanted to keep hidden. Kiran frowned as his eyes narrowed at the woman. What exactly did the man know that made Soray so determined to find him? If it was something about the attacks, it might be useful to find him.

"I'll check out the Inn," Kiran announced then he turned and headed for the Inn.

He never had reason to go to the Ichi-Koi Inn and Bar as a customer, but he knew of the place and passed it several times. The whole city was starting to feel like a ghost town with so few people around and even more lying dead on the ground. The Inn seemed to be no exception. As he searched the Inn, Kiran didn't see the man that Soray was looking for or even anything that might be a clue to his whereabouts. Perhaps one of the others would find something.

Kiran returned to the front door of the Inn. "Well, I didn't find anything in there," he said and leaned against the wall of the Inn to wait for the others to rejoin them.

User Image Sara had some interesting memories of the bar...

Being the best friend of a brewer meant that Sara had experience with drink and she knew that she did not really handle it too well. The last time she had been to this place was with Huang and that did not end too well to say the least. Never the less she followed Kiran and headed inside, looking back at Les and giving her a warm smile before she shadow of the door way devoured her frame.

She looked around, however instead of concentrating on the physical characteristic in the bar she had her gaze set on the spiritual, in case any wondering spirit wanted to come forward with information.

Unfortunately nobody seemed to want to come forward and she could not force them to do so. She stayed in a moment more than Kiran but admitted defeat in the end. The girl with the long teal hair came back outside.

Well... that went well.

User ImageWhether or not Mu Ying noticed the attention he was starting to get from the others for being all too quiet and naturally, suspicious, the young man certainly did not show signs of it bothering him. It was true that the young man was more inclined towards anti-social tendencies, but the fact was that he was on duty, chit chat or small talk unless relevant for acquiring information was all very unnecessary.

Mu Ying took in the information about the man Soray gave, creating a vague mental impression of what he was to look for. Vague, because as she said, he was to be in a disguise. The Lunarian nodded to her before he stepped into the bar. Curious, quite curious indeed. It seemed there was still a fair crowd with the mood to drink despite the situation just outside on the streets. Mu Ying knew of course that a bar was more than a place for merry making. Sharp eyes scanned the place thoroughly, taking in all possible clues and information available to him. Having been trained since young for this type of task, Mu Ying was quick to zero in to the two or three greying men in the bar. While some of the others from the “search party” have left already, the lunarian took a moment more to observe the men carefully. Dispositions, the way they carried themselves. However, minutes later, his gut feeling told him that they weren't quite it. But then again, his gut feeling was irrelevant to this.

Stepping back outside, Mu Ying drew to Soray's side and spoke softly into her ear. “There is one or two men in there that might match your description.” The emphasis on the word might meant that while they did conform to certain parts of her description, it wasn't an entire match. “The gentleman there in the balcony ... and the one two tables left from the right corner,” he said as he gestured lightly. “But.” But there was a but.

What do you think?” He wouldn't be offended or surprised if she were to disagree.
