"Tentacle things." She repeated, as if she didn't hear her right. Meanwhile, the ball of fluff continued to squirm, looking up at Ariane with its shining, beady eyes - eyes that seemed to yell 'LOVE ME, PET ME PLEASE'; she couldn't resist scratching it behind the ears with a sigh, allowing the pup to lick her gloved hand.
Those things are pure evil.
"How do the doll things even dirty their cage?" She frowned, finally done with the fluffy evil's cage; even as she walked away, she could hear it whimpering and feel it looking at her... Looking at her with sad, puppy eyes that would make most girls melt; maybe that's why she chose not to look back.

'Magic. Extremely inconvenient, disgusting, messy magic." Normally, Clarice was all for magic, at least the kind that they could manipulate. But poop magic was a bit much. "But...they are pretty easy to clean up after, considering the rest. Just a bit of gravel to or stuffing to sweep up." That didn't keep her from skipping over the tank that held the Hellma doll. Having taken the real deal's class once before, she felt no need to even come near the miniature version.
"Doesn't mean I don't still want to drop them all into in a lava pit, because somethings in this world just shouldn't exist."
Like evil moving dolls. Or mimes. Mimes were pretty creepy as well. And those people that painted themselves gold or silver to be a living statue. That was like a horrible combination of both dolls and mimes, and that was just five flavours of wrong.

"That is..." She made a face, moving onto the next cage which oh so conveniently held one of those dolls; it stared at her with unblinking eyes, and she frowned, not taking any chances as she held onto the doll while cleaning the cage, "None of them should exist... Most people still don't believe in them."
It's funny how the world works.
... Then again, the hunters technically don't exist. They were more mystical than Bigfoot - which she was sure she would run into one day.

The assistant gave a soft snort, and picked up a battered looking box with little cat legs and a tail poking out through holes in it. Some times she was tempted to look inside, but something are just better left unopened. "People may not believe in them but.." a small television flickered inside one of the cages, and a doll began crawling out of it, "...they certainly do still fear them."
Placing the trashcat back in it's tank, Clarice went to wash her hands, "And that's all that they need...for a human to be afraid. In a way, it makes a certain sort of twisted sense. Even humans use fear to gain power...Halloween just takes it all to a very literal level."
She glanced back at Ariane, "That doesn't mean I don't resent the hell out of what they've put us through, though."

"Wasn't there a saying?" She muttered, deciding to follow the example set by her dear hunter senior by stopping her duties as well, closing the cage she had been cleaning, "People fear what they do not know... Learning about these creatures actually make them less scary." It's actually unnerving how human-like some of them looked, especially when facing them for the first time.
She tossed her gloves into the basin, along with the cloth she had been using, before washing her hands; she might not have touched any of those minipets directly, but ugh... She frowned and scrubbed harder.
"I think a lot of us share that resentment," She flicked excess water off her hands, "Or we wouldn't be here."

"Better a little angry than dead, or comatose in a pod," Clarice dried her hands and then turned to the other woman with a smile and a clap on the shoulder. "You aren't bad for a trainee." And because she couldn't quite help herself, "How would you feel about feeding the piranhas?"

She thought about Dean, still in a pod, and almost winced; perhaps the guy needed to be angrier... He was always such an old man. Why couldn't he have been an angry old man?
"That, I would have to agree with," She hummed, raising an eyebrow before grinning, "And you aren't bad for a non-trainee hunter." She was starting to think that most of the people who got promoted out of trainee level lost their sense of humor along the way, and were all grumpy, sadistic-
... Okay, that could easily be a coincidence or Clarice's sadistic side showing.
"Piranhas," She echoed, adjusting her hairband, only to have part of her bangs flopping over her forehead again, "Only if I get to feed them poison, but I doubt the bosses would be happy with me wasting their resources... On the fish. Ohhh, have you ever fed them one of those before?" She pointed at the boxes of leftover fear candy.

"I suppose I can let you skip the piranhas this time," her smile was distinctly toothy, "and yes, yes I have. They started jumping a good five feet out of the water, out of sheer fishy terror. I didn't even know fish could be scared, not like that. One almost took my ear," She sounded a bit wistful. A couple had gone straight for H's crotch, and even though he hadn't actually been harmed, there had been a moment when he had pinwheeled and nearly fallen in the water. It was one of her fondest memories of the doctor.

Ariane would love to have access to that particular moment of Clarice's memories.
"Ah, so Fear Candy inspires fear when taken by a non-Halloween creature," She mused, trying her best not to look too thoughtful, in case Clarice thought that she was planning anything when she obviously wasn't. She laughed, rubbing her chin, "Should have known..."
She then paused momentarily to lean against the sink, "I don't suppose they had been tested on any other... Specimens? Other animals?" Or, you know, humans, for example.

The assistant gave a soft snort and rolled her eyes, "Like trainees? Are you kidding me? We don't even have to try. It's become something of a staple when it comes to the I dare you, types. Not to mention the dangerously curious and the occasional self-styled practical joker." Clarice gave Ariane a stern look, "If you happen to see anybody pulling s**t like that, make sure it's in moderation. Taking too many can cause some serious health issues." Like exploding into a hundred meaty little chunks. Darwinism in action.

"In moderation," She repeated after Clarice, "Got it. you can count on me~" She might be somewhat tempted to try it out on someone for herself, but she wasn't stupid; when you cause problems in school, either do it in such a way that you would not to be found out or make sure that it would not get you expelled.
Where expelled meant possible coma forever.
"Is there anything else?" She was pretty sure there wasn't anything else to do, but just in case there was more to helping out in the labs than just feeding tiny Fear creatures, "If not, I should probably keep those things-" She gestured briefly at the leftover Fear Candy and cleaning supplies, "-back into the closet."

Picking up a clipboard, the assistant logged the time and minipets fed. The count on me got wry smile, but she let it go without any further lecturing. Clarice could only stand to play teacher for so long, and Ariane didn't seem stupid or reckless enough to merit it. "Yeah, just put everything back, and that's all I'll require for today. Thank you, Ariane."

"You're welcome, Clarice. With any luck, we might have the chance to work together again," She answered, humming as she gathered up everything and placed them back into the closet. Making sure that nobody was looking, she then slipped a fear candy into her pocket before leaving, closing the door and heading out of the labs.
This should be amusing... For her at least.
