Hel stuck her pinky in her ear again and swirled it for a moment before pulling it out.
‘Nough said.
“Ah, I’m looking, Riyo, and I do not see your point.” Hel replied. “…I…I think there are other ways to express adoration for someone, so it isn’t like holding hands is a necessity?” Hel’s statement ended up turning more like a question. She liked to think she had a grasp on this topic but she really didn’t. She could only go on what she learned from gossip magazines, stories, and epic poems. The reaper took another sip of her shake as her brows furrowed. “You never know, friend. One day, right? In the future?”
Hel took another long sip of her shake. She could only avoid the question for so long, so she was going to milk this excuse for all it was worth (hurr hurr, get it? Because she’s drinking a milkshake). With her mouth preoccupied, she was spared from answering for a bit longer.

To Hel's attempt at a sweet sentiment, Riyo could only laugh. "Other ways to express adoration? I'd like to see how well that goes over when I try to pass off screaming and insults as affection." Because that seemed like a big part of Riyo's life, though the valkyrie had managed to distract her from the question.
"I dunno Hel. Somehow I don't think I'm a relationship kind of person. I mean, I’ve got more baggage than a family on vacation. Why would I want to lay that burden on someone else?” It sounded more like Riyo was trying to convince herself than the reaper. Yanking her shake back, the ghoul took a big sip of it. “Suppose I’m not selfish in at least that respect.” The feline added after she finished.
“But that still doesn’t answer my questions. So what is it Hel? Got the teenage love fever? Writing someone’s name thousands of times on notebook paper? Stalking them mercilessly down the halls? Dreaming of their face in the middle of the night?” Riyo couldn’t help but smirk at the thought of Hel getting twitterpated. It was too amusing. “Or do you just want it?”

Hel fiddled with the straw of her milk shake. “…I yell and insult a lot too, I’ve noticed…to people I am very fond of...so yes, I do believe if can be a sign of affection.” Someone had to understand…right?
The reaper twiddled her straw some more, her brows furrowing. “…You make it sound like you’re the only one who has concerns…but you’re not. Everyone does, right?” Hel took another sip of her milkshake, trying to point out that saying she had problems wasn’t a legit excuse to not be looking for love. It seemed now though, that the reaper couldn’t stall on the question any longer, and Hel shifted a bit uncomfortably. If there was one thing she was aware of…it was that there wasn’t really a point in trying to fib to Riyo. She was one of those few that just knew when she was fibbing. “…A little bit of both.” Hel muttered, taking another, longer sip of her milkshake.

Oh... So... It was a sign of affection...
... Heh...
Riyo's eye twitched at the aspect of being in a relationship filled with insults, yelling, and physical abuse. It would be... A lot like her parents. Almost identical, really. She didn't remember much, but she did remember her mother smacking her father across the face one time.
Sure, everyone else had concerns, but she didn't give a s**t about everyone else. "Whatever. With all of you up in my business, I don't think I need a-" she lifted her hands and did air quotations. "-special someone."
Oh, but the kicker was about to happen. When the valkyrie started to look uncomfortably, the feline leaned forward with a smirk, silently sipping her milkshake as she waited for an answer.
A little bit of- !! Oh man. This was too good. Waaaaay too good. Pulling back from her frozen treat, the smirk grew into a grin. "And just who would that be?" Like she didn't already have her guesses, but it would be fun to pull it out of the reaper. "I won't tell." And she wouldn't... Unless Hel started showing those pictures of a certain inebriated cat ghoul.

“You okay there, friend?” Hel questioned curiously, raising a brow as Riyo’s eye twitched. She took another sip of her shake, staring at Riyo as the cat demoness made air quotations. “…You never know…you could have us and someone special, eh?” Maybe very wishful thinking on Hel’s part but…hey…to each her own. She could dream, right?
What Hel was suddenly not liking though was how Riyo leaned forward in interest, and was smirking, and it got worse as the smirk turned into a grin. The reaper was now wishing she never stared at that couple. Hel level a flat look at her as she sipped her shake, and could help but also do a major eye roll as she questioned her about who it was. Oh, Riyo was just messing with her now. “Like you don’t know.” The valkyrie muttered, glaring down at her milkshake now.

"No, that's okay." 4 other people (she had to include Shun since he was everywhere Mitsu went) were enough for her.
But that wasn't important right now. The spotlight had changed to Hel, and Riyo could only look at her with a knowing smile. Like she didn't know? Well, now hold on. "Wait..."
The feline leaned back in her chair. "Wait wait wait. I get it. It's Mot, isn't it?" The ghoul's lips curled in as she tried to hold back a laugh, her red eyes lighting up like a kid who had just been handed a plate full of spookies.
She needed to say something, but she couldn't do it without laughing. Oh, what the hell. "Oh my Jack. Hahaha! That is too cute." Why was she so amused by this? Even she wasn't sure. "THAT'S why you were so jealous of him doing the googly eyes at Lizzy! Oh man. I just pictured you carrying him down the aisle. Oh sweet Sally! Hahahahah!"
She paused to wipe a tear from her eye. It had actually made her laugh so hard she was tearing up a little. "Oh man. Mot in a dress. You in a suit. Too great." This would probably come back to bite her, but right now she didn't give a s**t.

Hel started to drum her fingers on the table as Riyo seemed to ‘try and figure this out’, slowly drumming them for right now as her brows started to furrow. As quickly as Riyo was becoming amused, Hel was becoming irritated, and once she said Mot’s name, the ghoul just gave her a flat look before looking off to the side, pouting.
The reaper scowled, loudly, once Riyo said cute, and her short fuse was already at its limits regarding this topic, especially with how the cat demoness was howling with laughter. As she then went on to say that Hel would be wearing a suit and Mot would be wearing the dress as she carried him down the aisle well…Hel had enough. The reaper slammed a fist on the table, growling at the ghoul. “Knock it off.” She snarled. “It’s not funny and it’s not like anything is going to happen anyways.”

Aww, apparently Hel didn't think of it as funny. In fact, she looked pretty serious. When the ghoul slammed her mighty fist down on the table and gave the milkshakes a little extra shake, the feline's ears folded back and the laughter ceased. Oh, yes. Serious matter. Mm. Okay.
"Um." Riyo started with a raised eyebrow, forcing the image of Mot in a wedding dress out of her head. "You know, you probably wouldn't stop if I did the same thing, but I'm feeling particularly unappreciative of laughter today so I'll let it slide." She pointed out before getting back to the matter at hand. Riyo just had to let the valkyrie know she was being the 'better man' in this situation. Reaching out to take the straw, she fiddled as she thought.
"In all honesty, it's not a real big deal. I suppose it's an interesting contrast, but your last statement confuses me. Why don't you think anything is going to happen? Trade in the damn spear for a bow and arrow. I'm sure cupid's looking for holiday fill-ins."

There was that small swell of satisfaction at effectively ceasing Riyo’s laughter with the pound of a fist, and maybe she would have enjoyed it more were it not for the subject matter they were discussing.
Hel leveled a flat stare at Riyo, and then narrowed her eyes. “Wrong. I wouldn’t be laughing, at all.” This subject was something the reaper took rather seriously, so the cat demoness would come to find out. She took another sip of her shake, staring down at it with a furrowed brow before rolling her shoulders once more, and she looked a bit disturbed at the ‘trade in your spear’ comment. “Riyo, I will never, ever trade in my spear!” The fact that the cat demoness was poking fun and being sarcastic went right on by Hel for now, as she took to fiddling with her straw too, and raised one shoulder in an odd shrug. “…It’s…just…nothing is going to happen.” The reaper murmured lamely. “…He is rather fond of Lizzy.” Not her.

"Right, well. I suppose we won't find out." Since Riyo would never get herself into a relationship... Or so she thought.
Jeez, Hel was really serious about this s**t. The feline's brow furrowed as he looked upon the more than a little upset reaper. "Yeah, I know." The ghoul shrugged as she acknowledged the fact. "So what? It's puppy love. It's not like Lizzy wrote her name on him or some s**t. You should be familiar with the quote 'All's fair in love and war', no?" At the very least, it SOUNDED like a quote Hel would know.
Tail swaying behind her, Riyo seemed to sink into deep thought. "I don't really understand why you're so bent over this. Aren't you the valkyrie who charges into battle unperturbed by the odds no matter how much they may be against her?" She added the mocking tone for affect in hopes to drive the point home. "Really Hel, the odds are probably much more fair in this situation than you think. It's just a war that requires a different kind of weapon."

Riyo was making some pretty valid points but…Hel just wasn’t letting herself be comforted by them. The reaper rested her chin in her hand, staring out the window as she twiddled with her straw and snorted softly. Her gaze shifted back to Riyo, and her lips were still pulled in a sour frown.
“I am the valkyrie who charges in, even when the odds are not in my favor…because there is always a chance, a glimmer of hope that perseverance and determination might pull me through…but this…” This being emotions. “…Riyo…you can not force someone to love you.” Hel muttered sullenly, and then shook her head a bit. “…I…I am not saying that’s how I feel right now but…you know what I mean you…you can’t force someone to feel differently about you.” The cat demoness mocking didn’t go unnoticed, but at this point in time, Hel didn’t have a spitfire counter for it.

The cat ghoul couldn't help but grimace at Hel's new found pessimism. "Hel. You really are thinking too much of this." Riyo pointed out, an unwanted yawn managing to escape her. "I know you can't force someone to love you. Believe me... I know... Sometimes, you can't even persuade them with the sincerest effort. But Jack damn, you're throwing in the ******** towel before you even set foot out there! You know what you're doing? Being a coward, that's what. You're afraid to try anything because 'oh no, what if he doesn't feel the same way?'" Now she looked irritated. Why was SHE giving this talk to Hel and not someone else?
The demoness shook her head in disapproval before finishing off her milkshake and setting the glass down on the table rather roughly. "Feelin' sorry for yourself, huh? Sorry that you weren't born as some pink-haired spider ghoul with a nice figure? Because that's pathetic. If you WANT something, then WORK for it and stop WISHING that it's just going to FALL AT YOUR FEET." That... Had probably been just a little bit louder than an inside voice.

…Was she thinking about this too much?
The reaper pondered this over, before she snapped once more at Riyo’s words. Quite a few things easily set her off. Throwing in the towel. Coward. Afraid. Feeling sorry for herself.
Hel abruptly stood, her fair and dark hand snapping across the table to grab Riyo by the cravat she wore, and she pulled her up a bit from her seat as she snarled at her. “That’s an awful lot of lip from a ghoul who I found lamenting at the wishing well.” Hel’s tone was by no means quiet, and certainly at this point they were starting to get a lot of alarmed stares. “I am not waiting for anything to fall at my feet, Riyo, I am choosing to do nothing because we have agreed you can’t force another to change their feelings for you!”

There went the neighborhood.
Riyo hissed as the reaper grabbed her by the cravat and literally swept her off her feet. "You're a b***h!" The feline hissed out in anger, the rage in her eyes accenting the bags rather well. She did indeed look insane as Hel had said on that sunny fateful day.
"And you're a STUPID b***h for thinking that forcing someone is the only way to get them to like you!" Leave it to Riyo. She was practically asking for that knuckle sandwich. She gave a toothy snarl before her own hands reached to grab Hel's apron in an attempt to hold her the same way. "WHAT'S THAT HEL? ALL I CAN HEAR IS A CHICKEN CLUCKING WHEN YOU TALK!"

“So original, Riyo.” Hel snapped, not at all fazed by the b***h comments.
There were other, more juvenile comments to get her goat, after all.
“You’re not listening to me! I do not think that forcing someone is how you make them like yo—“ Chicken, clucking? Oh, it was over now. In a fit of anger, Hel reacted the only way she knew how. With violence. The reaper pulled her head back and then slammed it forward, head butting the demoness. She clocked Riyo right in the face with her head.
