Hel was a special kind of sleeper. She stayed where she had fallen asleep all night, and even on her side still, and oh sweet Sally, did she like to sleep. When Mot started stirring it did not wake her at all, no, she kept sleeping. Hel’s breathing was rhythmic in her slumber, and after a moment longer, she did do something!
She rolled onto her stomach. Closer to Mot. Her face was still turned in his direction, and a soft sigh was heard, as she resumed sleeping, now in a favorable position. Upon her back, her wings twitched. If it wasn’t for that little movement…she’d almost look…dead.

She was closer now, and Mot had very little room to move back. Should he get out of bed? Would that wake her? She looked so happy and peaceful, albeit nearly motionless that he couldn't bring himself to wake her at all. Instead, he rolled to his back, hoping it would put more distance between them, but it was rather redundant. She was still there, so close.
A ghoul in his bed.
A ghoul in his bed...
Mot's nerves started up again, nervously looking to the side at the sleeping figure as she slept, wringing his hands together. What would happen when she woke up? Soon, he started to appreciate her sleeping form. Hel was almost always so rambunctious and energized. Seeing this, her sleeping and at rest form was so different and refreshing. His nerves settled slightly. Only slightly.

Hel’s sleeping form was content to stay there for a few minutes…but then her sleeping self decided to move again.
The reaper wiggled closer to the cowboil, wiggling and wiggling until her cheek was now resting on his shoulder and her hands were resting on his upper arm. Hel gave another content sigh now, starting to curl up against him. Oh this was nice….very nice indeed!

Mot's face slowly formed into one similar to that of horror. Hel was too close for comfort. This was not like a hug, which was usually quick, and easily escaped from. This was... this...was..
Cuddling.
Mot had never been comfortable with it. He didn't know how to deal with it. His heart raced, his cheeks flushed. What could he do? What was he supposed to do? It took every ounce of him not to panic. Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic! But her face was so close, he learned, as he made the mistake of turning his head toward her. Way too close. They were nose to nose. He inhaled sharply, every nerve in his body tensed to the breaking point.
Mot yelped loudly, and shot upright, sliding his back into the wall, arms clinging to it as he stared down at Hel with a fearful expression and glaringly obvious flush of red across his pale skin.

Unfortunately for Mot, Hel came from a very touchy-feely family. When she was younger, she would often crawl into Freya’s bed to sleep with her, thus, she was no stranger to the act of cuddling. It probably helped she was pretty fond of him already too.
Her nose wrinkled when it brushed his, and eventually, it was the sound of him yelping, the jerking of his body away from hers that would rouse her. Hel woke with a start, at the yelp, the sudden pull, and then the sound of a body being pressed against the wall. She stared at Mot wide eyed for a long moment before her lids drooped sleepily, and she then did a slow look around of the room she was currently in. It was hard to tell what was processing in her mind at the moment, but it had something to do with the fact that this wasn’t her room.
The ghoul gave a thoughtful, sleepy hum, rolling onto her side, back towards the edge of the bed. She closed her eyes again, and was quiet for a long moment, almost like she had drifted back to sleep, before she spoke up. “…I wasn’t kidding about the sleep over, apparently.” She murmured sleepily.

Mot stared at Hel as she stared at him. What would she do?
Sleep, apparently. Mot's mouth hung open, inwardly freaking out over what to do until she seemed to speak again. "Y--yeah uh.. I uh.. thought you..were kidding..too.." He stammered, fidgeting with the fabric of his shirt again. Ugh, he felt way dizzy all of the sudden. Mot huffed, running a hand through his tousled hair. Had he slept enough? He still felt Jack awful. That's what he deserved for not sleeping for two or three days in a row.
"Um..di-did you sleep well?"

Eventually, Hel’s eyes opened and she rolled out of Mot’s bed. Landing on her feet, she then brought her hands above her head and stretched, eliciting a few sounds of her bones cracking. She gave another loud yawn before clumsily spinning on her heel to face the grim reaper.
“I did…how about you? When did you wake up, friend?” Why was he pressed against the wall, and why was he huffing…and why did he seem flustered? Hmmm…

"I uh.. a short while ago.." Mot answered, keeping his awkward position on the wall.
His eyes darted around, slowly relaxing. "Um.. okay. My head hurts. But, I'm okay." He didn't feel like he had during the night. The unease and terror were dissipated. His nerves numbed slightly. Now rather than anxiety, he just felt tired. He supposed this was how one felt while healing.
"I might try and nap.. later.." He admitted uncertainly. "Um.. actually.. Hel?" He asked softly.
"I need a favour.."

A small smile was on Hel’s lips when she learned that he had only woken up a bit ago. Excellent! That meant he slept through all the night! He slept through all the night. That was amazing. Simply amazing. The reaper was pleased!
“…Ah…would you like some painkillers them, friend?” She questioned with a tilt of her head. “I can go get you some…” The reaper had some in her room, of course! Hel also looked pleasantly surprised when Mot said he was going to try and nap. Super ambitious in the sleep department, she whole heartedly approved, but it was his next question about a favor that had her leaning forward eagerly. “Yes? Anything, what can I do for you?”

Mot hesitated, but nodded slowly. "Yes, please." Battling a headache along with the burns was just overkill. Maybe after taking them he could have a small breakfast and then nap. Never had he ever wanted to rest as much as he did now. Though honestly he'd never been this injured.
He shifted nervously, but slid himself closer to the edge of the bed. "About our training.." He trailed off, his eyes lowering for a moment. He couldn't believe what he was about to request.
"I'd like to step it up a few levels." His eyes turned upward to Hel, looking determined despite being so tired. "After all that's happened, I know now more than ever that I need to be stronger."

Hel would go get the pain killers, as soon as she heard what this favor was.
A brow rose as he brought up training. My, oh my. These past two days were just full of surprises…this time of the good variety. She noted his determined look, and was quiet for a long moment. Hel straightened, resting her hands on her hips as she stared out the window thoughtfully. “…Mot.” She started, her tone turning serious as she looked back down at him. “…If you want to train with me, and if you want me to step it up…that means your performance and drive will have to as well…and when I say that…I mean you can not hesitate to lay a hand on me or harm me. Is that understood?”

Mot kept his gaze on Hel, anxiously waiting to see what she said about this. Her terms were hard for him. But tht was also part of the reason he needed to do this. He had to get past his comfort zone. There would be no repeat of the disaster that was this field trip. He did not want to watch his friends die. Never again.
"Understood." He answered sternly.

The reaper held her hand out to him, to shake, to finalize this agreement they were making.
“So help me Jack, Mot O’Boyle that we make this agreement and you refuse to lay a finger on me.” Was that a threat? No, that was a promise. Where before she would just give him a hard time about not wanting to battle her…now…now things were too different. If he wanted to train with her, and wanted her to kick it up a few notches, she would not tolerate the hesitation anymore. It’d just be waste of her time and his.

Mot took the hand without hesitation despite the threat. Honestly though, he did widen his eyes when she used his full name. That sent a chill up his spine.
He was serious. Protecting his friends was a much larger priority than his own discomfort with physical contact. It would be very hard for him, but he needed to push through it.

Once his hand was within hers, she gave it a firm shake.
Her expression remained rather serious, until it melted into a small chuckle and a light grin. “…Let’s get stronger, together.” She promised. She gave his hand one more firm shake before releasing it, but held a finger up. “I will go get those pain killers now…also…I’m going to make us some breakfast!”
