"You're good to go. You look very hot. I bet you could have your pick of any guy in this place."

It was the first outward indication she gave that she'd caught on to his inclination and wasn't judgmental for it. It wasn't a big deal, much like the seasons. It simply was, and was natural. Anyway, she wasn't about to go pouting about something she couldn't change. After all, if things kept up this way he could be her favorite shopping partner and might even let her start taking him to thrift stores to see how they do things on the other side of the tracks.

Now that was an idea. She coughed to cover the snicker that threatened to escape her lips. She stood back and crossed her arms, observing her creation. "You look great! Espresso now?" She assumed he would wear the clothes out of the store, offering the tags up to the clerk since changing back into his uniform seemed like a waste. Not when he looked this good and she found, to her great surprise, that she was spending time with him and didn't feel bad. She wasn't guilty or upset. She felt normal.

She especially liked the coat.

Laughing he shook his head. "Perhaps, and be that as it may I'm not one to be so casual about dating." He didn't ask how she had guessed or knew he preferred guys. It didn't matter and wasn't something to make a matter of. it was like making a mountain out of an ant hill. It was a little thing and didn't matter much to him, so little in fact he didn't question her he simply went with the flow.

Yup, he was not changing back in to his uniform only so he could be rung up and change again. It was an utter waste of time to do such a thing. Not having anything to hide he went to the check out and informed them of what he and Harmony had done, that he was wearing clothing he had taken from the racks and had no intention of changing out of just so he could change right back in to them. He intended to pay, he was not that sort of person, and thus he presented the tags for scanning. He honestly spoke and informed the lady he had nothing on under what he was presenting to her. It seemed good enough as the tags were scanned and clipped off right after scanning. Hanging over the debit card and signing he smiled to Harmony as his uniform was put into the shops bag.

"Yes, now espresso." He said, with a smile in place as he offered her an arm. "I'll have to take you with me shopping some time soon, for a proper shopping trip. Perhaps you and Lily." Yes, his best friend from his oldest memories, and one of his new friends. He liked that idea, two whom he trusted and a shopping trip. It was right, it was proper...it was what he should be doing as a teenager.

Thanking the cashier as he was handed the bag, the receipt inside, and wished a good evening; a sentiment he returned. "Your going to have to give me directions Harmony, I'm afraid I don't know how to get where were going."

"It's in the poor part of town," she teased.

But as he paid and they got back in the car she felt light hearted, like a normal kid. Kid was important here because she spent so much energy trying to control herself, trying to be grown up, that it was nice to forget those worries and just be a kid. It was important to know she could still hang out with friends and feel the way she used to feel before anything unusual happened to her and she became part of the odd section of Destiny City. The ones that knew more than the rest of them.

She forgot about that and gave him directions across town to her workplace, finding it easy to make the cross town commute at this time of night. He was pleasant company and she chatted lightly with him, asking him about Lily and their friendship and about this hypothetical shopping trip she'd love to have. She was a sucker for shopping. She loved it. Something about the ability to create a new expression of herself through clothing appealed to her in the same way her camera showed a new layer of her world view.

When they arrived she grinned. "Here we are!" From the outside it looked like any other small coffeehouse with a wooden sign waving in the breeze. Inside, however, it was a funky artist's paradise with sculptures and paintings all around donated by patrons with her pictures plastered over a huge billboard in the corner. Everyone knew her when she came in and she got a chorus of hellos from the staff and patrons alike. She introduced Alex around, loudly yelling the introduction to the entire store at once.

Obviously, the atmosphere was laid back.

She went behind the counter and whipped him up a double shot espresso with cherry and pomegranate syrup in it, finding both to her surprise. She slid it across the counter and brewed herself a tea, waving to her boss. He never seemed to mind when she made free drinks. She always paid for them later or brought in enough new business that it didn't really matter. He liked keeping her around even if it was occasionally as a sideshow attraction. She led Alex to the corner of the room with big fluffy chairs.

"How is it?"

People who never should have known a thing about the war, who never should have seen it. It was something he had a huge issue with and had since it had happened. It had in essence removed the rose colored glasses from a few dozen peoples eyes, glasses which should have been left on. No one but those involved should see this war and realize what it was. But alas he couldn't comfort her as he'd like to, he couldn't risk somehow giving himself away and were she to ever confined in him and tell him things he'd likely have to act like anyone else - disbelieving. He was in the same position though, trying to act his act - like he had before the surrounding.

It wasn't that he wanted out of this war, not by any measure, but he didn't want to think of fighting senshi or killing. Energy gathering was where he wanted to keep his focus...energy gathering and helping in any way which did not include fighting and/or killing. His innocence had already been shattered, he didn't need to go trampling on the pieces.

The poor part of tow, the part of town where damage from previous battles and fights still showed. The city repaired what it could and as fast as it could but some areas just didn't get the love they needed, resulting in some streets nearly unable to be driven down. It was a good thing he had a truck, he could manage some of the nastier pot holes and dips in the road. While he drove, listening to her directions, he answered he questions. He and Lily had known each other since they were in diapers, the two were like siblings really. They might as well be siblings honestly, his parents and hers called them son and daughter, he even had a similar relation with her older siblings, though not quite as strong as he had it with Lily. She did like to shop as well, just about as much as he did. It would be a hell of a shopping trip really.

For a moment he wondered if he could melt into the floor, as Harmony loudly introduced him. But it did seem she knew everyone here and the coffeehouse wasn't all that bad in appearance, though he still preferred his favorite place. He didn't say this though as he looked around casually, blond bangs gently falling on either side of his face, he watched her as she went around the counter to make his drink followed by her own. "It smells good." And smell always gave a fairly good indication if something would taste good, so he wasn't surprised when he took a sip to find it to his satisfaction.

"It's good, almost as good as my usual." Something was a bit off but not in a bad way. He'd drink either from here or there, and he said as much to Harmony as he took a seat in one of the fluffy chairs. "And your tea?"

She was happy to hear about Lily and their relationship. She’d always wanted siblings of her own but her mother never seemed particularly keen on providing her with one. Now the idea would be nearly comical. Her mom was too old to be starting over to have babies, at least in Harmony’s mind. She’d be seventeen years older than the kid…practically an adult, and that was if she got knocked up this year. If it took her a while, if she did it the right way, Harm knew she could be in her twenties before she had a brother or a sister to care for and by then there’s be no point. It would be like having her own kid.

Inside, she hoped her mom would find happiness someday. As much as she hated to admit it her mom kind of deserved someone to make her happy. She didn’t say this, though. She didn’t know how well Alex knew her mom but she knew if they knew each other at all Kyndall had already adopted him as her own. She looked over at Alex and smiled.

My tea’s alright. It’s my usual order.

It was a fruit blend with white tea that she usually drank and it was sweet without being obnoxiously so and it was fragrant enough that she enjoyed it. She wasn’t much for coffee despite working in a place that prided itself on that kind of an offering. She loved it here but that was mostly for the environment and not just for what they sold. She really, truly enjoyed her job but that was because her job offered her a lot of freedom. Obviously, with the large board of her photos behind them on the wall.

I’m glad you like it. My boss imports his espresso directly from Italy. It’s a little stronger than most people are used to. The blend’s unique.

Most people either liked it or didn’t. There were few in between votes. Of course, some people didn’t come here for the coffee. They came here for the artist vibe and the warm welcome they almost always enjoyed. There was rarely any real problem among customers in Espresso Yourself. Most disputes were solved easily and had more to do with egos or stress than actual problems. Those could be solved with cool thinking and a little charm.

His mother had never had the time for other children, his aunts and uncles all had two more three children, his mother and father seemed the odd ones out. But he knew both worked hard, especially his mother at present, so he wasn't surprised when he'd once questioned his mom on why he had no actual siblings and he'd been told because mommy was too busy. He wasn't all that sad though, he had Lily who he clung to, he had plenty of cousins; most of which annoyed him when tolerated in long doses.

"I see, I'm glad it's alright. Perhaps, if you'd like it, I can blend you some various teas to try?" He did a lot of that, especially for his mother and Lily and her family. "You can taste test some and give me opinions. Lily does it but having more people would help, I can work on blending other teas and seeing what's most liked." She liked tea though so he was likely to mix her up some blends and pack them in to tins anyway, Harmony could do with them as she pleased once he gave them to her.

"I like strong, but I like flavor; hence the syrup and wanting cream with it. I like the natural flavors from the syrups rather than adding sugar." He could smell her tea, and it did smell wonderful but he knew he wouldn't like it. He'd tried his own teas, store bought, and other ones he could find and purchase whether online or from stores. he simply didn't like tea. He honestly didn't have a clue why, he simply knew he found something missing or too much of something every time. He figured he just wasn't a tea sort of person, which was fine by him.

"The quality shows in the flavor, it's very good. The blend I figure is the main reason for the difference between this and my usual. But both are equally good."
