The doe that suddenly appeared in front of him almost caught him by surprise, and Leap First dug her claws into his back in a rather painful display of shock. He had to admire a doe who could move so quietly that even his canny little mongoose, well-accustomed to slipping about soundlessly as she played her tricks, was surprised.

Well, a victim was a victim, quiet as a ghost or not. He waited until she'd just passed, then slipped out of his nook, tail flicking along her side, just hard enough for it to register as physical, not a breeze. Then Leap First jumped to the ground, and nipped -- not hard, just enough to startle -- at Cue's ankle. "Boo!" he hissed from behind her shoulder.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Slither and Shiver. Birds eat snakes. "Albatross. And thank you." She shakes her head lightly to test the placement. Nice. She had a glowing mushroom on her beautiful crown of nature and hair.

"That sounds like a charming place you have. What exactly do you do." It was her backhand way of asking all the wrong questions. She smiles; she's the perfect picture of innocence, at least in her eyes. The cave seems too small for both, no three, of them. She looks around, eyeing the other kimeti and their small things. "Seems like someone got too happy with the berries juice. Let's go do something." Something that didn't involve his tongue of course. It was a fascinating organ.

In one corner of the room had been a particularly dense, particularly high pile of bones. At its front sat a dark-eyed skull, perhaps that of a caiman -- long and angry, with most of its teeth tumbled away, liberally splattered with berry juice.

Now those eyes opened, something peered out from behind the mask, unseen. Amber glittered in the faint light of the cave, and the bones began to shift and shiver, small bits and pieces tumbling away with warning clatters and clicks, bumping into each other and against the solid stone of the floor beneath.

It was still too dark to make out more details, but there was definitely a lot of red flank showing beneath the net of bones, beneath the rattling costume. There were flashes of gold, the clack of black hooves against the earth as it finally took its feet. Too small to be a kimeti, bundled down into its costume, the creature lifted the caiman head in threat.

"Who invades my cave?!" It was carefully gruff, resounding, the voice of a performer who pranced again to make bones hit against each other.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It was that doe, with the expansive mane of silver, moving past her at the entrance - she had distracted her. Anyone would be distracted by a vision such as that. And her friend, the black buck with the snaking tongue. Who wouldn't be distracted by such an uncanny pair? Whatever excuses Cue chose to partake of, there was no denying that her heart - skipped - a beat at the flick, n** and 'boo'. Boo. She had been startled by a boo. For a kimeti whose practised trade was stealth and subterfuge, there was nothing - nothing. NOTHING more humiliating.

Not, thankfully, that her well-trained body outwardly betrayed her inward jump. Very, very steadily, very, very coolly, she turned an unblinking gaze upon the buck that now stood behind her. She was Not Amused.

At that very moment, a skeletal form unfolded in a corner - her head whipped over, eyes narrowing, was there finally an opponent she could unleash the full force of her growing irritation upon? Bones rattled and clacked, rising, rising - and stopped. Who invades my cave?! Its full height, she estimated, fell short of her eye level. Even more annoyed now, she turned a freezing stare back to the ram-horned buck. "Friend of yours?" the caustic bite of her words made it obvious she was Direly Unimpressed.

Albatross, hmm? Well, a bird name for 'bird's nest' was pretty appropriate, anyway. He watched her test the mushroom's placement, and at her question, shrugged slightly and smiled, flicking his tongue out again. "Whatever we want." He follows her gaze around the cave, mentally agreeing with her next comment, but before he can reply again, he hears the gruff voice call out laying claim to the cave.

"Eh?" He glances towards the voice and clacking of bones, tilting his head at the skeletal costume atop the red gold and black...something...and peering. Far from scared, he meanders over to take a better look at who was hiding under the caiman skull. Slither snakes his head out to look as well, his own tongue flicking.

In all honesty, Blind was beginning to grow drowsy next to Bird-- The room was relatively quiet, save from a ram-horned buck making quite a racket trying to scare a very stone-faced doe, and another pair he could not hear-- He and Bird had been immediately to the left of the corner anyway, but it proved to be disadvantageous. The miraculously quiet room began to rumble, and Blind's eyes open wide, staring blankly in the corner to their right, suddenly identifying that there was another there... How had he not noticed?! He could count the beings in the room in a flash without needing to see, but how had he missed this horrifically disturbed creature that he could not identify just yet to his right?

"Bird--" he was up in a flash, his heart pounding wildly against his ribcage as he nipped the mute doe on the back of her neck, urging her up and away from the corner. It was times like these in which he desperately wished he could see, but he would have to gauge the appropriateness of his absolute terror off of Bird's body language to see if it was just a miniscule prank... Or maybe something else.

User Image It had been quiet, and uneventful, save for the unexpectedly venomous glare one doe had given her, and the yelling of a couple kimeti who had filtered in. It wasn't an issue past the obvious noise, but she had almost nodded off if in the silence, so she found herself a bit annoyed. Her ears flicked until the bones started to rattle and slide, staring fearfully in the general direction of where the noise was coming from. Oh, Swamp be merciful, don't let it be something that will eat us... she thought, as the shape rose underneath a caiman skull.

It was red, and gold. Almost frightening just in coloration. And as she stood transfixed, she didn't think to move. At least, until a set of teeth momentarily embedded themselves in her skin, on her shoulder. She jolted slightly against him, then slowly backed him away from the bone... creature... thing... whatever it was. She didn't know was happening, and she wasn't sure whether or not she wanted to.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Scared witless, coupled with the "boo", self-preservation was out the cave, lost somewhere in the wamp. So when Shiver went to inspect the bones, Albatross was armed with the glowing mushroom in her head and had no choice but to run along. As she got to him, a new plan was formed. It wasn't the most prudent one, but logic and her brain were still playing "catch up." She noticed the caiman was unnaturally large, with its sides concaved in. It was, however, still smaller than a kimeti. Small little thing playing dress up. She didn't question the what, why or how it came across the caiman hide; Instead she was interested in something more important:

"Have you seen any ravens come in this way? I lost sight of them soon after the entrance. Here, you can have the snake, Slither, as a sacrifice for your troubles."

After all, snakes were birds' prey and it was the creature's cave. Her new buddy Shiver would understand. The ends justified the means.

Shiver glanced to Albatross as she followed after him, then back to the "caiman". He tilted his head a bit at her question about ravens (what was it with her and birds?), but when she mentioned handing Slither over, he blinked and looked back at her with alarm. "Wait...what? No one iss handing my ssnake over to anyone, ssacrifice or not." His tongue flicked out in annoyance, as Slither, feeling Shiver tense up, quickly withdrew from stretching out to look at the bone-covered creature in the corner, and moved to curl around one of Shiver's legs AWAY from Albatross.

He had, perhaps, been expecting a bit more of a reaction, and the indifference from most of the kimeti left him snarling as he stepped out of his corner, bones rattling wildly around the slim frame beneath. Distinctly-cloven hooves stomped down on some of the juice-splattered bones that covered the floor, crunching several that were very dry, sending the more sturdy skittering toward the hooves of Kimeti that stood around and stared.

He swished the plumed tip of his tail across Cue's flank, a sharp flick, as he passed her and headed for the door, the vibration of the bones somehow managing to convey his fury. Whoever it was, he was stepping out of the bones cave, into the entrance, to see what affect he might have had on the other rooms.

The - the - whatever-it-was hit her. Her flank. With its tail. The ignominy. For a split second she considered chasing the weird little bone-encrusted heap down and taking up the fight, but she was not yet done with the original target of her displeasure. Therefore, the freezing gaze turned furious and she raked a burning glare up and down the ram-horned buck. Her silence only served to underscore the scorn pouring from her in spades. This was all his fault. SOMEHOW.

User ImageA few, slightly frightening moments as the creature breathed and glanced about. She stayed very still, almost vibrating against Blind's pelt as she watched the thing. Ready to bolt if it came any closer, but unwilling to move in case she drew attention to herself and the berry-stained buck. Just... go away... she thought willfully at the thing, backing up slightly as it trod past her and Blinding Light, to some other part of the cave.

That was it, she'd had enough of this scary, frightening place. She nosed his shoulder and started walking off with him, trying to keep from attracting anything else's attention.
