Things had been normal, or at least as normal as things could be considering the situation, for a while and she'd almost dared to hope that they'd finally get to go home or at lest that they'd be safe until they were sent home.
Then people had started acting funny. The glowing gold stuff (she refused to think of it as dead people) never left and then all of a sudden people were covered in it, pointing, and saying strange things.
Sadly her first though was 'Oh my god Regina is going to start blabbering about Aliens again.' That really had to say something about her mind frame and she wasn't sure she wanted to think about it.

A potentially ominous statement like "it's coming" might have been met with more anxiety had the past few weeks not been fraught with danger. As it was, Wallace only rolled his eyes at the flashy display. "What's next?" he muttered. "Can't be any worse than monsters and mirrors and being kidnapped into space by terrorists." Never mind that most of the senshi had been cordial, even helpful. He couldn't shake the notion that somehow, all of this was their fault.
Even though he wasn't panicking, though, the announcement still made him nervous. Maybe he'd be better off finding Flannery and the others. Even though her ideas were crazy and drove him up the wall, her confidence was comforting. In the unlikely event that he couldn't handle what was coming by himself, maybe with them, he would be okay.

Flannery was incredibly confused. What was coming? Apparently, everyone around her knew the answer or something, because nobody was saying what this "it" was. Or maybe she was just the only one with half a brain left, or something. She wished her crew was with her, because then she'd know that they were safe, and if they were together surely they'd be able to find out all the answers. As it was, she didn't know where she could go.
All Flannery could do, it seemed, was wait. And the knowledge of that stung, because she hated waiting more than anything. It wouldn't be long now, she hoped.

Contrary to Jocelyn's belief, Regina did not take this new opportunity as a chance to start babbling about aliens. Quite the opposite, she fell completely quiet. For the first time since the attack of the Giant Space Whale Regina Faith Hopewell felt afraid; small, lost and alone. Whatever 'it' was she had a feeling deep down in the pit of her stomach that it wasn't good... And somehow, somehow it had to be the fault of whatever had brought them here to the Surrounding.
They still didn't know who or why or how or anything else. They had come into this lost, startled and alone. Some had formed bonds, others strange friendships. They had investigated oddities, competed in races and, all in all, done more housework and 'spring cleaning' than Regina was sure she had ever done in all of her life leading up to this point. Maybe the 'it' that was coming was a giant vacuum. A giant space vacuum.
A shiver raced down Regina's spine and she stepped just a bit closer to the nearest civilian, running her hands over her arms as though there was a chance that somehow it would make the feeling of dread go away. She only wished that she could draw on the power of her name; cross her fingers and have Faith that it would all turn out for the best... Sadly, Regina had almost run out of Hope.

Menthe had seen Jade on that first fateful day. Amid the chaos and disoreintation of the rainbow bridge and space whale she'd lost her. And somehow over the past month and a half they'd seemed to miss each other, never quite finding the other person.
Friend. It was a thought that would have seemed very strange to anyone else. Who else would call a person you never saw outside of their work a friend? But that's what they were. Menthe was just a frequent patron to the charming inn that Jade worked at. And Jade.. she was a sweet young woman who took the time and energy to be nice to Menthe and give her extra attention. Really she felt closer to the woman she only saw a couple of days a month then she did most of the girls that she saw daily at work.
As Jade embraced her, she couldn't help but think of the inn, wish with every fiber of her being that she was there. Relaxing.. quiet.. calming.. and of course safe. She could almost see it, her eyes sliding shut to let the illusion take her over.
"Jade..." It was all she said, though there was a tone of gratefulness in her voice as her arms slowly lifted, hovering for a moment before they looped around the other girl's back, touching as lightly as a delicate butterfly.
She could almost smell the scent of clean linen and fresh tea leaves.

Ian had been hiding more or less since the attack by the space dragon thing, fixing up what he could in the area he had chosen. Still, he had seen the strangeness of the golden sparkles, and that had drawn him back out.
It was an ill omen, especially with the calmness in the Surrounding. The calm before the storm right? Perhaps he was being pessimistic, but who could blame him. This trip had been filled with all sorts of troublesome things.
"Can I go home now?" he said, quietly enough that even if someone had been standing next to him would have had trouble hearing him. He would be good, no more stealing, no more lying, if he could just have one moment back in the normal world.

She really had expected Regina to be all giddy about more strange things happening but seeing the other girl quiet and subdued was odd. It just fulled her anger at everyone here not a civilian who had gotten them into this mess. Poking her way through the crowd she finally found her friend.
"Hey .. everything will be alright yea." She rested a hand on her friends shoulder to try to comfort her. Even if the damn senshi wouldn't do anything -she'd- make sure that her friends were safe. "Have you seen Amy? Or any of the others from drunk night?"

Mal had been slinking from outpost to outpost, attempting to gather information while trying her best (and failing miserably) to be inconspicuous. She couldn't help her naturally radiant presence. Charm and wit and elegant beauty just weren't things she could turn off with a switch.
Hands in her pockets and shoulders slumped in an attempt to look unnoticeable, she raised an eyebrow as a nearby civilian uttered something vague and cryptic.
"That's what- " Mal stopped as she felt a pang of sadness in her heart. She turned, looking off into the distance with a frown, knowing immediately the cause of the sudden emptiness inside her.
Someone had beat her to "that's what she said."
"Aw, man. It would have been way funnier if I said it."
