When Legault had finished his own generous helping of everything but the meatballs, he stood up and walked around the room a bit. Despite the time and the filling meal he'd just consumed, the former Black Fang member wasn't feeling very sleepy yet. It wasn't like anything particular was bothering him...except perhaps the portrait over the head seat of the table.

Eventually coming close enough to inspect it closely, he began to wonder if what this painting depicted was a family no longer amongst the living. This thought then gave rise to some more questions about the current master of the house. Why were such a colorful group of people given shelter and a meal? Why had the master not even made himself known to the guests? What was the guy's name, anyway?

Despite the thought he was putting into it, Legault really didn't believe the master had any ulterior motives besides just being courteous. He was just needlessly overanalyzing the free stay and he knew it. Turning away from the somehow curious portrait, he thought he might as well socialize with anyone who was interested with doing so before turning in for the night with whoever ended up as his roomies.

After being informed of the current situation of their rooms, Nasir decided to walk into the dining room where everyone else had finished most of the meal. He noticed, much to his chagrin, that a scrumptious meatball pie still remained prominent in the middle of the room. The alluring aroma of meat piqued his senses, but going so long without the wonderful delicacy still brought about feelings of repulsion. The stew was of no help either, but he decided to eat most of the vegetables and leave the meat alone. There was no need to reveal his hidden craving for meat especially to the guests of the manor.

Once sated he glanced over at the large portrait that suggested the family that may reside at this manor though their presence of late had yet to be seen. A fact that had inched at him during his stay, for Nasir found the entire situation to be very peculiar. A night as stormy as this, people of various backgrounds being moved into one spot like cows ready for slaughter, and a strange creature with long ears that looked like an oversized puffball cowering in a corner. Wait, what..?

Nasir glanced over at the creature gringing by the serpentine lady. It seemed so frightened of the woman, for it was emitting a rather unpleasant cry. What in Ashera's name is that? Nasir thought. It seemed innocuous, but of course all things that appear frail often have razor sharp talons. He thought of Reyson, then; A heron who appeared frail, but had grown much stronger by living with the hawks. He wondered what the presence of strong people would do to this seemingly small, yet frail creature.

His meal finished, Nasir stood up and glanced at the rogue, he believed the man was a rogue from the daggers on his belt and his clothing choice, who was gazing at the portrait that had given the white dragon the same feeling of malaise. No doubt the man had come to the same conclusions.

"It's strange isn't it? Not once have our hosts arrived since dinner and the butler has said nothing of them. Rather discourteous of them, wouldn't you say?" at this point he was merely making small talk. It would do well to get to know some of the people in the manor. They were all so very...different...

User ImageMoving on to dinner, the food seemed good enough to eat. The stew was good enough to warm the body from the torrential downpour the storm was kicking up. The other guests at least seemed to be enjoying themselves, although he still couldn't help the fact that he only knew one person in there, and she seemed to be busy. Oh well, his loss.

The coming of the meatball pie was strange in his eyes. Never before had he thought dessert would be something so meaty. He opted to pass on that, since he didn't really want to consume more meat, and plus he just had a bad feeling about that pie.

He looked up towards the portrait that was hanging over the head chair at the table. It seemed rather strange to him that this would be right there, leaving some to wonder where the master was. Maybe this guy is dead, or away on some kind of trip. He thought to himself, as he turned back once the butler came in. Morning would come sooner than they thought...retire to their rooms soon? "Well that seems a little odd..." He muttered to himself, as he shrugged the feeling off.

Finally, he decided to walk over to the two men near the portrait, getting a closer look at it himself. "Something does seem to be wrong with this situation. Maybe we will learn more about this in the morning." Small talk is small after all.

Legault looked over at the two men that had joined him. "Hm. Glad to see I'm not the only one who found it a bit strange," he murmured, looking back at what he presumed was the face of the master at some point in time. It was likely that the servants had merely informed the master of the congregation's situation. He, being the wealthy and polite man that he was, could have given a brisk order for food and lodging to be arranged for everyone.

Still, why not show up personally if he were so kind as to tolerate such a suspicious group in his home? "Well, I figure we won't be finding the answer anytime soon. Still, I'm not quite comfortable drifting off to sleep in such a place. The house is lovely, yes, but some of these people look like they have some...issues."

He wasn't so much talking about the few he knew personally (like Vaida) but rather the ones that he didn't know. With the dragon lady, he pretty much already knew what to expect...the snake-woman, the cat-man, and the late arrival, not so much.

The hostess wore a content smile on her ruby lips. "Yes, I'm fine. This weather isn't the best for me, but I'll manage," she replied quickly. As the girl began to ask more questions, an idiotic green-haired boy burst through the door and began to shout without consideration for those around. Aruna folded her arms under her chest and waited patiently in her spot.

Then another recognizable face appeared. Unfortunately it was an awkward one. Aruna didn't particularly care for Ninian after the Valentine's Day incident a year ago. The roots of jealousy were still there. The snake woman did her best to avoid the dancer.

Suddenly an adorable cry came from a nearby table. Aruna's attention traveled to the whining long-eared creature that was curled up there. It looked vaguely familiar somehow. Like she had seen it during a drunk escapade. "Poor thing is upset," she cooed as she slithered closer.

It seemed like everyone was moving/had already gone into the dining room for food. "Maybe it's just hungry." Aruna attempted to pick up Bozo and carry it to the meal table. Perhaps some stew would make it stop shedding tears.

Bozo's body shivered. Everything was cold. This was not a good feeling for Bozo! Bozo felt like passing out, but before Bozo did, Bozo was picked up by a friendly embrace. Bozo remembered this hug! Bozo had been here before! Maybe this was no time for Bozo to be scared!

Bozo calmed down a bit as Bozo was carried towards a table with lots of food! Maybe Bozo could eat something warm! Preferably with salad with it. Bozo liked salad. Especially if the salad was topped with more salad!

But wait...there was stew in front of Bozo. Putting two and two together, Bozo realized what was happening (because Bozo was smart like that!).

Snake-lady wants some Bozo stew!

"Boyo!" Bozo squealed as Bozo flattened to the size of a pancake that had been flattened by a flattening device, before Bozo managed to escape from the snake-lady's grasp. Bozo had to hide! And quick! But where!?

Bozo flew in panic. There was nowhere to hide! But wait, then Bozo saw it! A man-humie, chatting it up with a girl-humie! Both of them had a familiar smell...the girl smelt a bit like Master, but the man-humie...man-humie smelt like a state Master had been in a lot when Master had been drinking some funny tasting water! That meant this man-humie had similar taste to Master!

And the man-humie had a very good hiding place!

Zipping across the room, Bozo nestled into the familiar-scented man-humie's mess of a hair, hiding from every possible enemy in the vicinity. Here, Bozo was safe. "Boyo~..."

Blossom looked away from Dietrich as Aruna approached, seeing the shadow creep onto the table. But... there was something in her hands. What was it? The question didn't take long to get answered, though; soon a familiar shriek of terror sounded from within Aurna's hands, and then a little puff of white flew up and around in circles, as if searching.

"Hey...! I know what that is!" Blossom watched Bozo dive right for Dietrich and settle into his hair. The Hero giggled and smiled. "Looks like you have a friend, Dietrich. Better be nice."

She glanced back to Aruna and smiled. "Where did you find her? I didn't think a little thing like Bozo could make it through that rain."

It took Ninian quite some time to wring out as much water as she could from all the fabric, let alone her hair. When was at least no longer dripping, she gave up; fortunately, she was not cold. She made her way into the dining hall, and--

Oh. Aruna was here. Ninian couldn't help remember the last Valentine's Day. She still felt guilty about what had happened, and she hadn't been able to face the nagini since then. She and Aruna summarily avoided each other for the rest of the evening. Ninian ate little, not having much of an appetite. The people in the picture above the head of the table seemed to stare at the diners; Ninian finally shoved her half full bowl of soup away and politely refused any desert. The butler finally returned, informing the guests that accommodations were ready for their use.

Three people to a room? Ninian looked around at the others. There were eighteen in all, mostly men. That meant there were six rooms for everyone to sleep in. Ninian thought perhaps she ought to retire soon, but . . . who would want to share with her? Certainly not Aruna. Perhaps it was best to wait and see what everyone else would choose to do first.

Some of the others were settling into after dinner small talk. Ninian sat back in her chair, listening. Suddenly a small shriek sounded from somewhere right before a white something began flying around the room, finally dashing into one man's hair. Ninian heard Blossom speak and realized she'd miscounted; there were nineteen guests in all. The dancer hid a smile; somehow, little Bozo had made it to this manor as well.

It strangely flattened itself then flew away. What the hell kind of creature could do that? Certainly not a normal rabbit. Well, fine if it was going to be like that the scaly woman would leave it alone.

Just then Blossom addressed her. "Huh? It has a name?" She said quietly not wanting to sound rude. "It... I mean she was crying on a table with her ears covering her eyes. I guess the thunder was scaring her," Aruna replied. "I'm surprised you didn't hear the wail. It was absolutely adorable."

Sunil, now in the dining hall, wandered over to where the food was. So much deliciousness. There was what appeared to be stew, some meat here and there, bunch of salad (eh, he'd leave that alone), and other yummy things. He felt his stomach rumble before he scurried off to get some plates.

Some time later, the cat tried to balance the bowl of stew, the plate of meat, some strange looking dessert (he heard it was called a cookie bromeo, whatever that was), and a drink. Considering he had only two arms, how he managed to balance such unbalanced food was anyone's guess.

Someone bumped into him suddenly, and the physics behind his miraculous balance just broke down. Plates and drink spilled everywhere, soaking both the cat and the person that had bumped into him.

"Ack, hot hot hot!" winced the cat, soaked again from the hot stew landing on him.

The raven-haired fighter looked up suspiciously at Blossom, then felt his brain swat its facial recognition lobe or whatever, he didn't know how brains worked, and brightened up a little. "Oh, hey. Uh, yeah, food helps," he muttered, finishing his pie and reaching for a fourth bowl of not-Bozo stew. "I know I ain't supposed to, y'know, liquor up an' all on duty, but I wouldn't hardly count this bein' on du--"

There was a thing in his hair.

Again.

It's not even like he had a ton of hair, or especially poofy hair. His hair fell pretty flat against his head, like his mother's, and he kept it short But now a couple of long ears were settling over his own like fuzzy earmuffs, and he crossed his eyes as he tried to look up without tilting his head. "Uh-huh. 'Z it the same white poofy doodad that napped on me first day I got here?" he asked Blossom, reaching up cautiously to poke it, then stroke its back gently with one finger.

Well, okay, so he wasn't exactly given to random acts of charity or prone to cooing over small animals, but it was cute, and had been one of the few things not to scare the ever-loving s**t out of him his first day in Learania. "Well, I guess I got a bunkmate, at least," he joked, since Bozo didn't seem to have any intention of leaving the fighter's head for the time being. "I'll let him-- uh, her sleep in my tunic, I guess. Hey, you up there," he added. "Hungry?" After an attempt that wound up with warm stew getting all over Dietrich's face, and wiping it clean, he (this time more carefully) lifted up a spoonful to see if Bozo would take a bite.

'Course, he'd added a significant measure of brandy to each of his bowls of soup, which could only end in disaster for something as small as Bozo.

As much as she was used to the rains outside, Sue didn't want to be out in it all night long! That wouldn't do, when she had a celebration for the Host Club to plan all this week. Party favors, events, she would be doing the works when it came down to it. The manor was large, and somehow welcoming, beckoning the nomad like a lighthouse signals a lost ship. She rushed inside without a doubt in her mind.

There were quite a few people here too! When the butler mentioned "food", Sue hoped for a few traditional nomad dishes, but anything fresh and warm would do. Peering at the selection at the dining hall, she was pleasantly surprised to see that nomad tea was among the selections! Sue also took a simple soup, and decided to take a seat on her own for now.

"Now he says there's going to be three of us to a room? I wonder who will end up with me." She thought, sipping her soup. She wondered if they could choose who to bunk with, or if the butler would say who goes with who. Sue hoped her roommates would be nice, quiet people, but it was only one night, right? What's the worst that could happen?

Soon supper had come and gone, the shy little deputized maid having sat at attention at the walls. She would wait her turn after the rest had gone, deciding to play along with this sort of thing...Besides, it would just be embarrassing to explain this sort of thing! The cleric could already feel her cheeks redden, the heat radiating off of her violently. There was only one thing to do. She gave a determined nod, her best soothing smile, and...tried to keep her growling stomach in control as she fought back the urge to snag something from the table.

The other guests, she had to note, were certainly a colorful bunch. It had been quite some time since Rin had stepped foot into a crowded home such as this. It was almost like home at the abbey actually...She could faintly hear Father Angelo calling out for her...But that was another time, another place...There we new people to introduce herself to! Rin gave a light little nodded, pumping her fists to build up some courage, and ventured off! ...Only to run smack dab into someone in her hurry.

"W-Wah...! I-I'm sorry! H...Hello!"

And that's when the burning commenced.

Rin had held out her arms to protect her, determined not to let her host's outfit become ruined over her own blunder...And she payed for it. She gave a loud yelp at the pain, almost shooting up from the floor like a cat on all fours. "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! I-I...Water...!" She gave a rather pathetic cry, trying to fight back tears as she scrambled for something to wipe herself down...And water! Nice cold water for her burn!

"I'm sorry mister!" The poor girl called out as she fled, returning sometime later with a towel for himself. Her hands were rather soaked, the other carefully clutching her staff, despite the bandages. "...Are your burns hurting still?"

Blossom nodded to Aruna. "I guess I was busy getting some food in here. I've been on the road for nearly a week, so... it's nice to get some decent food in me. I'll be in the cafe early the day after tomorrow to help open, by the way, all right? I even managed to pick up some of that really good sugar from the border while I was out on my assignment. It should still be good, I wrapped it up well in some cloth in my bag, and I'll check on it in the morning to be sure." She turned back to Dietrich and watched him attempt to look up at Bozo, giggling again.

"I think she likes you a lot," she commented. She paused, mulling over the implications of him 'liquoring up on duty.' Her smile lowered, brow furrowing together. "I thought that Tibarn or Stee... uh, o-or Vaida had told you to cut down on the drinking?" She watched him attempt to feed Bozo, hands clasped quietly in front of her.
