Cinder allowed the movement, plopped down on the pillow. She refused to take off her hat, but she removed her little coat and used it as a blanket. Prelude licked her head, too, and she glanced at the two.
It didn't take long for the tired kit to fall asleep.
He had caught the body language. Quickly, he tossed his head to the side, nodding towards the hall for her to follow. Quietly he padded off, tail flicking back and forth until he stood by the glowing rocks. Then, he turned.

Cloud carefully got up and followed Prelude. She buried her head into his side. "Why did she say we wouldn't be able to find them?" She looked back at Cinder, who's little hat was still on. "It worries me..." Her paw swatted a small rock.
She looked up at Prelude. "What do you think we should do... leave it alone? Or Question it." She grew more worried. If they pry she might hate them for it... and Cloud didn't want that.

He glanced over at Cinder. Perhaps they should, but, if she wanted to tell them she would. Maybe she just lost them, as in passed away. He turned to Cloud, touching her paw, wings folding to his side.
"I think we should let her tell us when she is ready." He looked at Cinder again. "Maybe she went through a traumatic experience... She's staying with us now, she has plenty of time to open up to us again."
With this he licked her cheek. "I want to know, too. But we can't push to hard."

"Alright. Good Idea." She smiled softly and kissed her mate. "Lets go join Cinder. It has been a long day for all of us." She snugged into his side her tail lightly wrapping her tail around his. She walked back to where Cinder was and curled around the kit. The patted a spot across from her.

A small smile touched his lips, moving near Cinder. The tiny kit quietly slept, twisting herself so a paw and foot were on the two. Silently, Prelude closed his eyes, hummed to himself, and smiled at the two girls. Two girls that were his, his family. His own family. He finally had a family of his own. He would protect them forever.
"Goodnight." He whispered, eyes closing.

-Time Skip The Next Morning- The sun cam down on Cloud. She opened her eyes and yawned. " 'Mornin Prelude." She leaned over and licked his cheek. " 'Mornin Cinder." She was leaning down to lick the kit too but she was gone. "C-Cinder!?" She looked around and didn't see her. "Prelude! Wake up!" She frantically nudged her mate. "Prelude! Cinder is missing!"Worry struck her harder than anything. She searched the cave and every corridor. She was no where to be found. Cloud was staring to well up with tears. Maybe she didn't want to be with them... Maybe Cloud over did it. She looked down at the ground. What if this meant she wouldn't be a good mother....

His mates frantic words made Prelude twitch out of his dream, glancing up at her in surprise. "What, love?" He asked, watching her flipping out. As she spoke he began to slowly put two and two together.
His eyes flicked about, shock running across his face. Where was she?! He rose, head turning side to side once more. "Cinder?!" He cried out, wings spreading. "We should go out and find her."
Cinder had indeed left, tumbled down a tiny hill by the cave, and landed on the ground. Luckily she had her hat and clothes still. Why was she out? She was looking for a pillow for Cloud! She had been so kind and all Cinder did was lie! She wanted to reward her, to help her. And so, she was on the journey to find a pillow!

Cloud nodded and sprinted from the cave and took flight. "Cinder!?" As she flew she kept her eyes glued to the ground. Where could she be? Maybe she went back to where they first found her. She flew down to their old cave. "Cinder?" No one was there... She tried sniffing for her scent.. she had a hard time. Cloud was never to handy with her nose.

He took off in the other direction. As Cloud called for Cinder so did Prelude. Worry hung heavy in his stomach and heart, panic settling in shortly after. Where was she? Was she okay? Was she safe?
"CINDER!"
She heard her name being yelled, eyes looking up at the sky. Wait, were they worried? She'd be home soon! As she looked up she didn't notice a hill, falling down it and into a muddy puddle. Her hat fell into her paws, eyes tearing up as pain rocketed through her. Yes, even if she was a perma she sometimes had real kit like moments.
And then, she began to bawl. Of course! The second she tried to make someone happy of course she fell down a hill! She lied to them and they were now searching for her and... and... she was an awful, awful person!

Cloud took to the air again, she stayed low to the ground. She then heard little sniffles. "Cinder!" She finally found the little kit covered in mud. "Cinder! Are you ok!" She carefully landed next to the kit and didn't give her time to answer before she lifted her and placed her on her back. "Lets get you clean."
Cloud flew past by Prelude. "I have her. She is all muddy. Lets go by the lake. We can clean her off and go home." She flew to the lake and carefully set Cinder down. "Do you want me to bath you or do you want to do it?" She sat by her, still worried.

Cloud flew by with Cinder. He felt both relief and anger rush into him. Relief she was safe, angry that she had risked her own safety. Running down a wall that high up? Dangerous! He followed behind Cloud, keeping quiet as Cinder hopped off Cloud, the tip of his tail flicking back and forth.
Should he scold her? But.... just looking at her right now made his anger vanish... He was a sucky parent, that was for sure. "Ci-"
"I'm sorry!" The kit wailed, practically sobbing at this point. "I lied to you, to you both!" She choked back tears, failed, and violently whipped her eyes, leaning over, her hat slipping off to reveal the large scar on her head. "I'm a perma-kit! I've been a kit for years, I-I'll never grow up! Ever! And I lied to y-you! I p-pretended b-because y-you guys w-were so n-nice!"

"A-A Perma-kit?" Cloud looked over at Prelude for an explanation. "Cinder... It's ok..." She used the tips of her soft feathers to wipe the tears away. She gently pulled the muddy Perma into a hug. She leaned in and kissed the scar on her head. It made her chest and heart hurt. "You could have said so... I would have gladly offered you a part in our home and family... and if you wish to stay with us you may."

At the glance he knew he'd have to explain, seeing as Cinder was a sobbing mess. "Perma-kits cannot ever grow old. They will always be a kit and die as a kit." He stopped, smiling softly. "As a child I knew two perma-kits myself. They were wonderful little guys...." His eyes fell on the kits scar, ears going back.
"Cinder, how did you get that?"
"I....I jumped f-from a cliff." She whispered back, snuggling into Cloud, her tiny little paws gripping the vixen tightly. "I can't stay with you." She sobbed back. "I'll never be big. You'll have your own babies and I'll get in the way....."

"You can if you want to..." She looked over at Prelude. "R-right?" The way Cinder was crying was breaking her heart, Cloud herself was close to tears. "I don't care if you will never grow up. You are a sweet little lady. I must admit, I have grown attached to you in this short time." She smiled weakly. "After all.. family doesn't get in the way of family." She just hugged Cinder closer.

She was alone, and even worse than he had been. She wasn't going to grow up. Perhaps her parents had left her due to this, or just forgotten her. Or perhaps she had left her family. It didn't matter, what mattered was this kit was alone, scared, and felt the need to just vanish. He approached the two, using his wing to drape around them both.
"Of course. We don't care that you'll never become bigger, it doesn't matter. We love you, Cinder, already. And we want to be a family to you. Look at us, would we really throw you aside one day if we had kids?"
She looked up, eyes wet with fresh tears. But she'd get in the way... Her ears went back, eyes lowering to the ground as she went quiet. She wanted to be with them but... but..... her head turned to look at Cloud.
"But I lied." She whispered. That was the worst part for her, that she had lied to such kind people. She wanted to get Cloud a pillow to make up for it... but instead she fell and got all muddy and sobbed...
