Rui kept pushing himself, he needed to be careful on the slope. He bounded over a small brush and almost ran into a tree but was able to dodge it. He saw the finishing point! It was right there! He didn't dare look behind him to see where Ayame was. He couldn't break this focus.

Ayame thought she had been winning. She probably had a lead of Rui to start off with anyway, since the launch she'd given herself combined with her heavy frame made her into a blue and white furry cannonball.
Maybe it was just that she didn't run a whole lot. As she got closer to the tree Ayame was afraid she'd run right into it or off the ledge behind it altogether! As a result she'd begun slowing down earlier. She'd curse that later, it may or may not have been what cost her the race. Ah well, least she didn't run into anything.
"Nicely run," Ayame complimented Rui, breathing only slightly heavy.

When Rui finally stopped he took a deep breathe. "Yes, it was a good run." He nodded. He would have to practice, he was she he only won by a hair. He look over the tree. "What shall we do with this?" He could probably knock it over if needed. He stubby tail twitched slightly. Slowly he was coming up things they could do with the tree.

Ayame actually cracked a grin and laughed. She walked over towards the ledge the tree sat by. "It's not that we want, it's these," she said, rolling forward some unusually round stones.
"I collect them and leave here, since it's an easy place to mark," she said, examining the stones. "Most are solid and pretty heavy. A couple are hollow inside. Crystal rocks, I've found a few broken ones that are quite pretty."
Ayame turned her head and examined Rui. "Hmmm. Might be more limited choices in what to do since you don't have a harness. Well, that's alright. Come over here and roll some of these around, so I can assess your strength."

Rui couldn't help but laugh with Ayame. Ok, maybe he did get a little over confident in his abilities to fell trees. He eyed the rocks and picked out, it was a decent size. He put his paws on it and pushed it till it budged. Hmm... Once he had it going it wasn't too hard. Still somewhat of a challenge.

Ayame watched Rui pick a stone and roll it a bit. "Try a few different sizes, maybe," she prompted, gesturing to the pile that ranged from being as big around as her head to twice that size.
"You want to find something you can roll around without much trouble on flat ground, using only a single paw. Better to try a few different stones before deciding on one."

Rui checked each stone untill he found one he was comfortable with. "This one should do." He rolled it away from the other stones and looked to Ayame. "What are we doing with them?" His tail twitched with curiosity.

"Well first," Ayame said, rolling a stone of her own to herself, "we're going to be pushing these back up the hill, the way we came. It's gonna be a workout for your legs and chest, so by the time we reach the stopping point you should be feeling at least a tingle in those areas."
She glanced over at Rui and gave him a small smile. "I'll explain part two once we get to it. Oh, and this isn't a race, so don't tire yourself out rushing."

'At least a tingle....' He looked at the rock, then the hill, to Ayame, then back to the rock. He had a felling that 'tingle' would be more like a inferno in his chest. But he could do it. He just needed to pace himself. He nodded. Yes. That's right. "Alright. Not a race, don't rush, should fell slight tingle. Got it." He pushed the rock first with his left, then with his right, Figuring he should alternate.

Ayame went up to her own rock. Her entire build was solid, broad chest with well-developed muscles and powerful lets, but closer to the ground. She wasn't really short, but her bulk made her look shorter and stockier than she actually was. That was fine with her, the willowly, graceful look just seemed too frail.
She carefully lined her chest up and rested it comfortably against the boulder, then dug in her paws and began to push. While her legs provided the forward motion her chest muscles flexed, keeping the boulder firmly in place.
Ayame looked over at Rui, a slight smile on her face. "Let me know if you need a break or anything. You'd be surprised how much this can take out of you if you aren't used to it."

"A-a Break?" Grunt. "Already?" Pant. "PFFFT... " Ok... so he was more out of shape than he had originally thought. His chest was already starting to burn. He wasn't going to pass out nope. One push after another he made his way up the hill. He stopped and flopped over the rock to catch his breath.

Ayame came up behind Rui, pushing her own rock next to his and stepping back. She was breathing heavily too, but not much. If anything she looked invigorated more than tired. She began slowly pacing, weaving through trees and just generally wandering the small area in a figure-eight pattern.
"You should do this too," she said as she made a pass near Rui, looking at the deer-fox. "Walking keeps your muscles from seizing after all the work you put them through, plus you can catch your breath just as easily as if you were sitting."
She made a pass behind a tree and looped around, passing by Rui in the opposite direction. "I always catch my breath and rest a little before the next part of the exercise. Kinda looks ridiculous, but it works."

Rui's eyes followed Ayame's path. Weaving around trees. He dragged himself off the rock and made his own figure eight path in the trees. "If it works then it's not silly at all..." He did have to admit.. Just walking with out the strain felt good to his muscles. Then he looked back at the rock and his gut sank. Be he was too stubborn to give up this early.

Ayame laughed softly, a deep rumbling sound in her chest that still managed to carry in the small clearing. "Yes, that's what I always thought. But no matter if it works or not, there's still always some ninny out there that's worried about how silly they looking walking circles around trees."
Ayame shook her head at that. She really didn't understand people who cared more about appearances that results. She always got a kind of wicked amusement later, watching those who didn't properly keep their muscles warm wince and waddle about. Seized muscles could be a b***h...
"Well let me know once you've totally got your wind back. We're gonna be running a bit with this next exercise." She glanced at the rocks, then at Rui. "We might lose the rocks, depending. It's a 50/50 thing, but I never thought any rock was worth breaking my legs over."

It was nice hearing the girl laugh. He felt as if she needed it. After he caught his breathe he sat back a bit. "Wait... Running? Breaking our legs?" What exactly was she planning on having them do? Rui was quite fond of his legs... "Uh... What exactly are you planning on having us do that would involve the breakage of limbs?"
