Mau nearly laughed when Nyx hugged him. "Some things are best left a mystery, yeah?" He put his arms around Nyx and returned the hug, running his fingers through the fluff atop her head. At least it seemed she liked the gifts. Not that he thought she'd outgrow the love of princess things. "You're welcome. It's good to see you again." He debated just holding her for a while longer, or reaching for the final gift, the original one he'd told her about. Ah, there would be time for that later.

"You know this means we have to watch it now, right?" Nyx grinned. It seemed that distance really did make the heart grow fonder, because, at least in private, the scientist was a lot less squirmy when it came to touching than she'd used to be. Of course, she'd always liked Mau's hugs. "I'm glad you're back."

"Yeah, I expected as much. You tell me when, I'll make dinn-" He paused and thought better of it. "I'll make waffles." Unless of course she wanted a full dinner. For as often as this place felt horrible, with the injuries and near deaths and damn exploding hedgehogs... "It's good to be back. There's really no place like home." He leaned back slightly, resting in the corner between the arm and back of the couch, pulling Nyx with him.
"So you seem to have acquired at least one new pokemon while I was away." Though he had a feeling she had more than just the spider. "What's this one's name?"

Nyx let herself be pulled, arms still around Mau. It seemed she was now stuck, though she didn't fight it much--Besides, he'd brought such nice gifts with him, so she didn't mind 'cuddling'. Arceus how she'd never expected to be doing that... She rested her cheek on Mau's shoulder, while she remained tucked under his arm.
"Belle. I found her at the outpost." The spider pokemon peeked over the top of the couch at mention of her name. "She's friendly, I promise- just a little shy sometimes."

"Belle?" Not a name he would have associated with a spider, but somehow... it seemed Princessy enough... for a spider. "You're a very lovely spider." He addressed the bug. For whatever reason, habit or no, Mau couldn't talk about a pokemon when it was right there. "I hope you'll see fit not to bite me." Honestly, how itchy would that be? Unless she was full on trying to attack. That would just be horrible.
"So when should we plan a movie night?"

"This weekend? You have the evening off." Nyx smiled, though Mau wouldn't likely be able to see, since she was using his shoulder as a pillow.
The spinarak, deciding that this man was nice, crawled over the top of the couch and onto his head. "Ktch~"
