"When we have one...that'll probably be exactly how she is. Headstrong and eager to prove herself...especially if she takes after my mate's sister," he grimmaced slighlty at having a daughter that was anything like Chi. The thought of her being anything like that shrill...mean...thing was terrifying. But then, she was Nori's sister and in the long run that did count for something.

How long would it be before they had a daughter? It wasn't that he didn't want sons, but more that he wanted some of each--a nice diverse and loving family That wasn't wrong to ask for and hope for was it? They'd already been so lucky.

"Your daughter is deaf?" He asked gently. So far he and Nori hadn't had to deal with any setbacks or difficulties. He'd like to think they'd handle them well, but the truth is you never know until you do. He wanted to understand in case a child of his was ever hurt. He didn't want any child of theirs to feel like anything less than absolutely perfect.

A parent's worse nightmare. Gunkan felt himself shiver at the thought of it, what if something had happen to his child like that? He would blame himself forever, even if it wasn't entirely his fault.

"You can't blame yourself," he spoke softly knowing that it was far easier to say than do. "You can't stay with them every hour of the day, it's a plain fact. They get into so much, are so active and so carefree...You can't protect them from everythign no matter how hard you try, no matter how much you love them."

"I think we fathers all hope for that," Gunkan gave a great sigh. "I know enough about love to know that sometimes it's not what we expect, that sometimes...The love we deserve, we have to work for it and not settle. When the right stallion comes along, he'll love her past all reason."
