She nodded. "What I meant was that in time your pain will heal. And all this will seem like a distant memory. If you love her as a parent some times the best you can do is teach them all you can and hope they make the best choices. And if they fall down, well then all we can do is pick them up, dust them off and help them heal." She offered a reassuring smile. "Some times all you can do is just let them live their own lives in the end."

Arden sighed, "It's not that I don't want her to live her own life. I just want her to not hate me, still be a part of mine. I want to see her have a family. I want to be there." He sighed, "But you're right. You really are."

She sighed slightly with a knowing smile. "Some times while trying to guide them and keep them close.. we push them away is all I mean. Some times the best way to keep them close is to trust that you taught them all you could and that they'll make the best decisions they can. And should they find trouble.. just be there to help them through it not to judge them. Though perhaps.. I should take my own advice.. but still the boy needs to make some friends.. It's not healthy for him to shut himself up in his den and let the world pass him by. For as brilliant as the boy is.. he's pretty dense for the more obvious things in life." the last bit was more for herself than his own ears.

Arden considered what she said. If he had just let her be, things would be fine. If he hadn't told her to make sure of Banzai--then she wouldn't be in this predicament. He gave a great sigh. He loved her, he really did. And because he possibly ruined her chance at love--he may have lost her forever.
"I hope you're right. I hope if I let her go, she'll come back. I gave my opinion out of love--even if that opinion was wrong." He took another deep breath. He couldn't help laughing at her talking about her son, "You know hermits aren't all bad you know?

"It's not so much his hermit tendency as his inventions.. I'm afraid that he might do something to injure himself as he makes his things." She offered a friendly smile. "And you know.. It's not so bad getting out to see the world and the other soquili around it. I'm just thankful that my son chooses to invent near by the herd. It eases my mind to think that if something does happen one of the other herd members are sure to find him." Her tail bobbed lightly.

Community. Maybe not quite so bad as he thought. Society was the corrupting force of nature...but family, well family was what molded and shaped a being to become something--to live beyond the first few fragile hours of existence. Maybe society in smaller quantities wasn't so bad then? Maybe with a strong enough foundation...but that was too much to puzzle now really. "I'm glad he has you, he should be very lucky to have a mother who cares for him and loves him so much. I know you probably make him...angry at times, but he does know you're only worried. You're doing what a mother is supposed to do." He smiles.
"I supposed I should take your advice and be more sociable myself...but after so long shunning society, it'll be hard to be at peace within it." But maybe it was worth the effort, maybe it was worth the try so as not to be so despairingly lonely.
But what about society's corrupting force? He still believed in it, but maybe there was something more to fear--loneliness and the way it twisted and gnarled you when there was no one to talk to but nature. Nature can make you feel, make you think but it cannot speak words to you. It can not comfort you with soothing words, but only with beauty and solitude. Maybe solitude, the solitude he's struggled his whole life for wasn't enough.
"Sorry," he murmurer. "Lost in thought."

"Just take it one step at a time." She smiled with a light chuckle. "You don't have to dive right into a group of strangers all at once. Just.. take your time and re introduce yourself to life with others surrounding you." She gave a small nod.
She waited in silence as he seemed to take a slight mental detour. When he spoke once more, she shook her head and smiled. "Not a worry. Some times it's good to think. I'm rather Use to some one getting side tracked with their own thoughts after all."

Arden let out a low laugh, "Maybe your son would do good to meet me. He can see the dangers of becoming a hermit like me." He laughed lightly. Maybe it would do him so good to get some friends or some...community or something.

She let out a rather melodious chuckle and nodded. "I'm sure some day he'll eventually learn. He has after all made one friend. So he's not so much the Hermit I'd feared him starting to become. There it still yet hope for e even a hermit such as yourself though... should you want it that is."

"I do want it...at times, but it's the times that I don't that make it difficult to carry through. I'm sure it's something that I and your son probably share." Arden sighed gently, "I guess, I'll just have to decide instead of swinging back and forth."

She chuckled softly. "Even social butterflies need a little 'me' time" She smiled. "I'm sure if you just applied yourself into looking for companionship when you want it you'll find it's easy." She smiled fondly. "Besides.. If nothing else you could always find me or my mother's herd and visit every now and then. We always welcome visitors."

She chuckled lightly. "Well.. No offense but you really don't seem the type to try and make a meal of my family." She snickered nightly. "Oh he has.. He's got a few friends... well One real best friend but it's better than nothing right?"

Arden laughed lightly, "Yeah, definitely not." He listened for a moment, "Well that's good. Some people have no real friends. As long as he's got someone, he's not doing too bad then."
