"I am a city boil born and bred," Roch said, holding up both hands. "I ain't a hunter! I couldn't catch a cold!" he went on, shaking his head. "Nah, you guys can definitely do it without me! I'd just get in the way!"

He wanted out of this RIGHT NOW. And something about the undead guy was... he frowned slightly, staring at him curiously. There was just something... strange about newly resurrected undead! He didn't know what, exactly, he'd run into a few over the years, but not for very long. Or maybe he was just a d**k, he thought, his frown turning self contemplative. Yeah... yeah, he could definitely be a d**k. But hey, he always wound up comparing them to Bones!

No one beat Bones in his opinion. Never could, never would. Even if he was a drunken bag of bones. "I think the scarefari's that way," he added, pointing to try and be helpful, and more importantly, distract Danny.

Danny was busy swatting a fly while Jacques and Shehk talked. Not with her hand of course, but with her tail. It was really distracting for Danny to see a black dot fly across her vision every few seconds, especially when she couldnt do much about it. As soon as it was close enough, Danny flicked her tail off and lit the sucker on fire. She caught it mid-air, still flaming and popped it in her mouth. It's too bad it wasn't candied- candied flies were absolutely delicious. In the normal would do too.

When Shehk breathed out fog Danny was absolutely captivated though. She sat there with a gaping mouth and said, "That was so cool! Do it again, do it again!" So she was a fogdog! That must've been it. Danny was happy to come to a conclusion (nevermind that it was incorrect). It was a good thing she hadn't visited the island- she might've been crying in a fedal position at the moment.

Even more distracting was Shehk's tail. It lit up. And STAYED lit up. Danny like this ghoul. A lot. She would probably chase her tail quite a bit later on. Funny, dogs normally chased their own tails. Looks like Shehk would have someone to do it for her.

Danny nodded fiercely and said, "I want to scarefari too!" Did she just turn a noun into a verb? Yes, yes she did. She tugged on Roch's vest as if to say "let's go let's go!"

"Après Vous," Harrison said to Shehk. "I'm right behind you." He looked at where Roch was desperately struggling to be on time for...taco day. Harrison assumed this was a euphemism. "He uh, he doesn't have to come if he doesn't want to. Thanks for pointing us in the right direction."

Harrison was also...kind of...excited? Weirded out. But he had to admit. He really, really, really, really, really wanted to catch a pokemon.

....
.....

Shehk wasn't sure what 'Jacques' had just said to her... but she assumed it was some sort of gratitude and not that her mother was fat or something. If he had, well, joke would have been on him: Shehk didn't have a mother! Mu ah ah ah ah ah ah! Nonetheless, she seemed to not mind leading a little...expedition of the uninformed.

"Your loss, Roch." Shehk shrugged. "But I'm not going to force you to tag along." Trying to hide fear from Shehk was a moot point when she herself was so familiar with getting her hide scared off of her - though not literally. But being scared was...well.... she was used to it. Perhaps she'd just gotten to the point where she handled it better.

Either way, it seemed to Shehk like it was going to be a party of three. "Guess we'll head out then. We'll see you later, little-man." The way she said it, she definitely wasn't trying to insult Roch, but...well....... yeah. It wasn't intended as an insult. "Party of 3 to Scarefari!" Shehk's tail did the twitch-and-fade thing again, but she pointed with one thumb over her shoulder, walking backwards in that direction for a few steps before turning around to keep going.

"Little... Man?" Roch repeated, straightening and glaring at her. "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Was she comparing him to his father? Had she even MET his father? "You know what, I think I'll come after all, just to watch you guys sit there for hours, waiting for something to show up."

The hint of fear disappeared, overcome by his irritation with that dis. In other words, Roch was simple minded when it came to things like this. But really, was anyone surprised?

Harrison did not really care who went with him, but extra information couldn't hurt.

He followed Shehk until the school buildings grew distant and the path turned into a wide dirt road. The further they got from the school, the more Harrison began to wonder if this was a good idea. Were they still on campus? Did he have to stay on campus? The trees gave way to log cabins, one of which boasted

SCAREFARI AHEAD

in bold lettering.

A light fog covered the ground. If it weren't for the sign, Harrison might have mistaken the place as Camp Crystal Lake.

"Do we just...go in?" Harrison asked. "What's in the General Store?"

Danny elbowed Roch in the side and jeered, "Yeah little man, lets go!" She gave a coarse laugh and bolted ahead of him to catch up with Shehk and Jacques.

The twosome seemed to be waiting at the scarefari entrance, which wasn't boldly marked, but it seemed obvious where it began and where it ended in a strange way. To her left was a general store, though what they sold was a mystery. Not wanting to sound stupid, she said, "They probably have ... general?" General was an adjective, not a noun Danny.

There was fog on the ground, which unsettled Danny a bit and made her hold her tail in her hands, for fear of getting it caught in the watery mist. Fog coming from Shehk's nose was fine and dandy because it wasn't aimed at her. If Danny put her tail in the fog, it would probably be like a thousand tiny needles prickling at her. Not fun.

She really needed to build some sort of tail sheathe to hold it at times. That, or get the school to become more fire-friendly. Either of which she was okay with.

Shehk looked at Roch with a sly look. "It was a statement of perspective." Just like her 'confidence'. Someone else could have seen it as her masking her sheer terror about things....things such as.. the...
....
.....

Grinder. She probably would make a point to never speak of it ever again. Ever. It settled terror in her gut in a way only the staff of the school would ever mimic...and not easily so. Or at least not unintentionally on their parts. For a moment, the idea glanced through her mind, then right back out again.

It was definitely nice to have that walk to clear her mind during. The image would always be floating about in the back of her mind, however. But it outweighed fire in the fear-box.

When the Scarefari came into view, Shehk looked over her shoulder at the group she was travelling with. Seemed she hadn't lost anybody - this was a good sign perhaps? Then again, Roch was probably just going to laugh at all of them for staring at traps all day. Not that Shehk had much better to do......

"I imagine there are trap-basics inside of the General Store?" she suggested as an answer to the question about the store. Hmmmmm. "I imagine we might want to take a peek."

"Might as well go see," Roch said, heading into the store and looking around curiously. There wasn't much, just a few enchantments for sale and a couple piles of rocks, boxes, and ropes. It was glaringly obvious to the guitar lover that--

"I have no jackin' CLUE what I'm doing," he told them honestly. "Maybe we should get some of everything?" He looked at the boxes, frowning. "Do you really catch pets with cardboard?"

Seeing Roch had already beaten her into the store, Danny bounced ahead of Jacques and Shehk to look through the store herself. It was a small store, filled with all sorts of weird things. Boxes, ropes, bushes, enchantments, snacks, tickets- literally something from every walk of life.

Danny sifted through the store like everyone else. Like Roch, she had absolutely no clue what she was doing. She was honestly just looking for shiny things, or something that looked remotely fun to play with.

When all was said and done, she tugged on Shehk's sleeve like a little scareling asking their mother for candy, and said, "I want these."

In her hand were about 10 copies of the fire enchantment. She honestly didn't know what they did, but it said fire on them- so they must be good right? Roch was busy looking at the cardboard boxes, so maybe he wouldn't notice her getting more fiery things? Danny had a feeling if he noticed he would force her to put them back.

Danny had enough money to buy them on her own too, it was just a matter of getting permission. Shehk seemed older and smarter than her (well just about everyone was smarter), so she was looking for an opinion to validate her own.

Harrison didn't have any money, but looking at the merchandise he wasn't sure he wanted to buy a bunch of crappy boxes any way. Maybe he could just use...some sticks, or something.

The colorful paper caught his eye, though.

"Are those kinda...really small...wrapping paper?"
PostPosted: Sat Aug 20, 2011 5:15 pm

Shehk looked at the paper, then to Danny. Oh Jack. Was this ghoul a bit...fire...happy? Shehk was really hoping that wasn't the case. If fire came, she would be leaving the building immediately. Perhaps Decebal hadn't quite cured her of...all...of her fire insecurities. Yeah, he definitely hadn't.

"...I think you only need one of each kind..but..I guess if you want spares....?" the pricolici answered to the stare down she was getting. She sure as hell wasn't buying anything. She wasn't quite sure what they were either, at that.

The fact Jacques had asked got a look from her. A look that said 'Oh s**t, I don't know the answer to this question'.

"I..... I don't know." she admitted. "I'm not sure what we'd be..wrapping..in them?"

"Put 'em down, Danny," Roch called from where he was putting together a box of junk for traps. "You only need one, you should only get one. Besides, um... what do they do, anyway?" he asked blankly, looking to Shehk for an answer.

He put the box of rocks and ropes on the counter, only to get waved off. "Looks like this stuff is free," he told them, grabbing it again.

Danny's tail and general expression drooped as Shehk told her no. Even more so when Roch told her no. How had he even seen what she was doing without turning around?! Stupid best friend connection.

Huffing off, she put the fire enchantments back on the shelf in their little box where she had found them. She then walked over to where Roch was standing to get her own box. They had all sorts of sizes. Well best to go with the biggest box available right? Danny picked out one about the size of her torso, and some rope and sticks.

For the record, her box was bigger than Roch's. So there.

Turning to Jacques she said, "The sign thingy said they were 'enchantments.' Whatever that means. Maybe you wrap them on your box to use them? I'm not really sure, but they're pretty." She was trying hard to sell them so she could get her own.

Danny was about to head out the door, when she turned around to face the enchantments one last time. "You guys sure I can't just get ... like six more?" she asked with big wide puppy dog eyes.

Harrison grinned. "Free sounds good to me." Even if the items were crappy, and none of them knew what they were doing. He put a few in his pockets.

Enchantments. That sounded distinctly like more magic s**t.

Maybe he could snag a few on his way out. Or...borrow some from his new compadres before they left. Either way, they were now headed towards the Scarefari Zone itself.

Down the path, as one of them had mentioned earlier, was what must be the Misty Fields. There was the same clinging fog and tall grass, making it hard to see what was waiting.

"Okay, so..now what? We're supposed to throw the rock until it hits something?"
