How about we get some kind of mailling list going? Something so we can PM interested members events like new contests, voting for winners, new tutorials, the launch of the site...
I think we at some point we need to try and PM every member, to invite them to try and be more active in the forum, and at the same time ask them if they want to be put on the PM list for future events. It won't be for everyone; I know some people might find it invasive, but after that we can just PM people who agreed to it.
Thoughts? We might need a few people to divide up the list between, although me or Silver or one of the mods can write up a a message for whoever the helpers are to copy+paste, for consistency.

I think... to raise money for the guild, we could have a guild art auction or something.
Like... an auction for all the willing participants to join up and collab on the pic.
I don't mean the the guild members bid. I mean that other people bid, and the guild members draw the pic.
I'm confusing myself.

Heheheh I get what you mean xd Its a little hard to have more than 2 people working a picture though (one sketching, one cging) without it getting too inconsistent in terms of styles. Although we could auction a package with more than one picture? Or hold multiple auctions, and like have Gaian Graphic Designers Guild Auction House! Ooooooh that would be cool! The artists would get a percentage, I think, because art is hard work xd I'd be up for that... I'd prefer to cg, but I can do sketching instead if I have to. Anyone else in?

I don't mind donating all the money to the guild because I don't really thing gaia-gold is very important. That and I can make it really easily if I have to.

That's the plan for the website, all the tutorials and everything else helpful will be easy to find. And we're working on that! Is there anything in particular you'd like to help with? I'm going to have Hizzahn help me with coding of the menu system. I can see having sort of a tree/collapsible menu; there's a main level with Home, Projects, Contests, Resources, and Members. Then under each category there's more options that pop out when you mouse over that category. For example Contests would have a list of every month, and Resources would have Tutorials, Articles, Books and Links, Portfolio Hints and Tips, Graphic Design Hints, and the Glossary.

I was thinking more along the lines of an e-zine type thing, with everything sorted by the issue sweatdrop I guess that would be a lot harder to find things in though... I remember seeing some sites with CSS drop down menus... I'll try to find them for you. I try to avoid using Javascipt if possible xd I was also thinking that in this forum we could have a 'Guidelines and Genera Info' thread, or something to that effect, where we can put the rules, banner codes, links to useful threads, maybe even the resources stuff, info on the website (when it comes into effect) and info on signing up for the newsletter. A nice central place for all information biggrin

We need a weekly something or other. A day when we post as many bumps in a thread as possible or something for a prize. I don't have any real good ideas. Something design related would be cool but everyone has difference areas of expertise. The monthly contests are a good idea but considering how busy most people are I think something that doesn't require as much time/effor would be good.
I'll donate to help.

I dunno, a bumping competition seems a bit pointless to me sweatdrop Unless we're doing it to help a guild member's quest/shop/auction or something. I haven't really got any ideas for a weekly thing at the moment, nor will I have to time and energy to keep it up xp Maybe we can come up with some kind of small contest ideas... or a group project... and I think a guild shop could come into play soon maybe, now that we seem to have attracted some great banner makers xd

Yeah, you're right about the bump contest, it was just as an example. So, maybe someone will come up with a good idea for a small weekly/biweekly event... and run it as well whee I certainly wouldn't ask you to do anything more Chisa. You practically do too much!

some random ideas about contests:
monthly:
- book - but maybe a little more specific book(though has too be widely known), or maybe at least a category(type of literature, science books, ahh i don't know really... sweatdrop )
- website - with a specific thema(maybe elections, ahh maybe a country)
weekly:
dunno maybe some emoticon, logo, banner - sktchy at least
maybe i'll add some more if i come up with something...

Book covers might be fun xd Election/country themed websites doesn't sound that appealing to me sad Due to the amount of effort it takes to organise contests, and the limited amount of gold we have, I don't think weekly contests will happen anytime soon. There's just too much work involved, and the time limit of a week is short for a lot of people with busy lives. Your ideas can be used for the monthly contests though 3nodding
