Stay this way? Oh, was Lizzy worried Mot would be a stuffy and pompous jerk? Mot smirked and shook his head. "Don't worry, Lizzy. It's my dream to be the coolest badass reaper in Halloween. I won't let myself be a stuck up jerk." That just wasn't cool. He wanted to be a rugged cowboil, reaping souls and gathering fear!
"My mother.." Mot smiled wryly, rubbing his neck. "She is.. well.." Just then, his eye phone began playing a western medley ring tone. He paused, looking to Lizzy apologetically. "Ah... one moment." He took the phone from it's case on his belt and answered, neglecting to look at the name of the caller. "Hello?"
"Mot Finnegan O'Boyle--" Came a sharp, very displeased voice from the other end of the phone. "Where are you, and why are you not here?" The stern, female voice continued.
"...." Mot looked pale. Paler than his already sickly pale complexion usually was. "Mother~." He looked nervous, but his voice suggested he was playing innocent. "To hear your sweet voice again fills me with fluffy warmth."
"As fluffy as a blowfish, I imagine." There was a very unamused snort before the woman continued. "Oh my honest, trustworthy and responsible son." The voice said as mockingly sweet as was vocally possible. "I am not going to ask you again, where are you, and why are you not here?"
Oh Jack. He was in trouble. Not only did he avoid going home, he never told his Mother he would not be coming home. A lie. He needed a lie. "Ooooh right! I apologize, Mother. You see I am on the train right now! But it seems I took the wrong one! A terrible lapse in judgment, really. Silly me~ Looks like I'll have to spend the summer at my friend's house. It seems she is taking this train as well."
... .... .....
"See, my dear child, my only son, perhaps you were not aware, but trains run in both directions all break long." Mother dearest was seething, and her aside from a mild grit and sarcasm to her voice, she had yet to raise her voice. She knew he was lying to her, that much was obvious. "You realize your Father is actually going to be upstairs this month." On came the guilt trips.
Oh Jack! She was mad. She was reaaaaally mad! He knew his mother was always strict and stern, but when she got this way? Oh Jack.. She was even laying on the guilt trip. Mot gritted his teeth. His dad didn't even have the curtesy to be around more often. Always thinking he needed to be met with open arms after a month of burying himself in his work. b*****d. Still, he needed to get out of this... how...
...
"Oh gee, Mother dearest. I'd love to! But you see, this train is about to crash. A shame really. I so was looking forward to meeting with Father and yourself again. Oh dear! Here it comes! The horror!!! BANG! RRRRRRRRRRRRRRSHSHRKWIGH AAAAAH IT BURNS IT BURRRRNS----Bye Mummy, I love you~<3"
And then he hung up.
There was surprised silence as the apparent crash started, but just before Mot hung up, he would likely hear something to the tune of "You ungreatful little b----I SHOULD HAVE SMASHED YOUR PUMPKIN"
It was a pity most of it was lost during the horrific accident.

"That's a relief to hear!" She grinned before nodding when his phone started to ring. She took a step away and settled for staring at the boil while he answered his phone; it was only polite not to interrupt, after all! She could always ask more about his mother later!
His expression worried her, and for a moment, she wondered if he was in some sort of trouble - which really wasn't too far from the truth!
"Oh..." She whispered when he greeted the person at the other end of the line; speak of the devil! Little did she know how true that thought was... She had to resist giggling at the way Mot greeted his mother, and settled for smiling in a silly manner instead; she certainly appreciated the reaper's sense of humor!
Her expression changed to one of surprise and then bewilderment, however, when she heard the lies - getting increasingly ridiculous too! - that he was feeding to his mother. She had to stop herself from interrupting, but she was frowning by the time Mot hung up; while the boil had told her during their first meeting that he had lied to his parents before, she couldn't help but have mixed feelings about it still.
She had lied to her mother before, but it always left her guilt-stricken and feeling like a terrible daughter.
"... Uh, so..." Her frown deepened, "Why didn't you just tell her the truth...?"

Mot slipped the phone into its holder, a short glance cast to Lizzy for a moment. "She knows the truth. Rather than repeat myself I prefer to make it interesting for her." He smirked a bit, but it seemed empty. "Don't worry about it."
He slipped his thumbs into his belt loops, intent on carrying on like the phone call had not happened at all. "Are we almost at there?" They were taking public transit, weren't they?

"Does she now? Really?" She raised an eyebrow, eyeing Mot suspiciously before slowly nodding, "Alright then, if you say so..." She still had her suspicions though...
"Ah, yes!" She nodded; the shopping/market research was a good distraction, and she continued to walk down the street with Mot in tow. Soon, the small street opened to the main road, which wasn't busy at all, even if it was supposed to be the "peak" hour; one of the many benefits of staying in the suburbs!
"AH. CARRIAGE. RUN MOT RUN." She squeaked, pointing at a carriage that was pulling up at the side of the road before making a run for it, flailing her arms in an attempt to get the driver to notice them.

Mot laughed and ran after Lizzy. Looks like they had a carriage to catch!
It didn't take much for a pink haired ghoul to be noticed, and the driver stopped. Mot waited for Lizzy to get in before stepping inside as well. "Not a very busy town. Or maybe I'm just used to the city."

She took a moment to catch her breath, flopping down on a seat just as the carriage surged forward. She laughed, glad that they had made it, before nodding at Mot, flashing him a small grin, "I guess compared to the city, this must be a really slow place! Even the traffic around school is rather heavy compared to this..."
She paused, taking in a deep breath before tilting her head, "Mmm, wouldn't mind visiting the big city one day~"

"I wouldn't mind taking you for a day." Mot offered. "After school starts up again. Just don't ask to see my home." His mother would see him. Mot shuddered.
Mot stared out at the passing scenery, His eyes squinting. Was the world always so bright? Without his hat, it seemed that way. It also seemed like a nice place to live in though, as far as he could tell. What did he know about the suburbs?

"Ohhh? It's a promise then!" She grinned before pausing, her grin slowly fading into a small frown, "Do you dislike going home...? When I invited you over, it was under the assumption that you had gotten permission from your parents... Not that I'm chasing you away now." She giggled, shaking her head.
"Will you be going home before the break ends then?" It sounded like his mother wanted him to, but she wasn't sure if the boil was going to comply.

"Promise." Mot assured her with a thumbs up.
Mot smiled sheepishly and leaned his elbows on his knees. "I dislike going home, yes." He didn't mean to have Lizzy think he had permission. In his mind, his parents had no say in how he spent his time.
"When I go home, I'm basically under house arrest. I don't get to do anything I like, go anywhere I want. Did you know my mother barred my windows for sneaking out at night? She wouldn't have had to do that if she at least let me out once in a while." He didn't really like saying any of this. Why b***h and complain to Lizzy? It wasn't her fault his home life was suffocating. "That's why I taunt her like that. She wants to control everything I do, and think. If she thinks she can control my mouth, she has another thing coming."
Mot paused at her last question, shrugging. "No. I won't go back willingly."

"Aw..." She frowned, reaching to pull Mot into a quick hug before patting him on his head, ruffling his hair now that they were more on the same level, "She sounds... Not very fun at all." Which was a really nice way of putting things, "What about your father then? Is he the same way?"
She never could have guessed that Mot came from such a strict family... He always seemed so cheerful and carefree!
"A-ah! You don't have to tell me anything, if you are uncomfortable with it!" She nodded, smiling sheepishly and blushing slightly when she realized how she had been asking rather private questions regarding his family, "Just know that you are always welcome in my house if you need a place to crash for the night... I'm sure mother won't mind." Probably.
New trend: Reaper boils with overbearing parents.

Mot turned his head to Lizzy as she seemed apologetic. He smiled and shook his head. "I don't have any secrets. I don't mind divulging if you care to listen." Just because the conversation was not pleasant, did not mean he would avoid it altogether.
"My father is a nutcase." He said plainly, quirking a brow. "He stays in the basement for months at a time, working on experiments. When he does come up for his scheduled visits, he expects us to sit there and listen to him prattle on about his work as if its his right to do so, like we're supposed to give a damn." He leaned back with a huff. "I mean really. Don't you think thats selfish? It's his own fault for hiding away that I don't care about his stupid work. I refuse to bow down to a man who won't even visit me regardless of his self imposed schedule. Is my own ambitions mere penny candy in comparison to his grand life's work?"
The reaper looked snarky...icy, but paused, sighed, and ruffled his hair. "Sorry, I don't mean to be complaining to you. Don't get me wrong. I love my family. But..." He made a face, looking conflicted. "I don't know.."

"I always have a listening ear open for my friends," She nodded before giggling, "Well, two, actually." Very witty, Lizzy, so witty.
"N-nutcase...?" She blinked, her frown deepening more and more as Mot went on about his father; he seemed like even more of a "lost cause" than his mother... Which said a lot. She paused momentarily before she continued with the head pats and hair ruffling, which she had always viewed as a way to comfort someone other than the use of hugs, "I'm sorry to hear that... While I wish I could argue for your father... No, it does sound like he is just being selfish."
Silence followed as the hair ruffling slowed down, her hand remaining on the top of his head, "I... Father passed away when I was young. Mother said he got caught in something and there wasn't a FEAR healer around, which meant that there wasn't enough time to send him to one to save him. Mother had been trying very hard to be both parents for me, and I know it must be hard for her without father around... Plus there is the business to run... But I can't help feeling selfish and wanting more of her time as I was growing up."
She sighed, shaking her head before removing her hand from his head, "I hope your parents pay more attention to you... As a person. You're doing very well there, I think." She managed a smile and thumbs up in his direction, "And don't worry! Like I said, both ears are always open! It's good to know that despite their shortcomings, you still love them... You're A+ as a person, Mot."

Well, at least Lizzy agreed with him. Mot brought this up to his mother in a heated argument once, and it ended badly.
Mot relented to being used as a lap dog of sorts, having his hair petted while Lizzy spoke of her own home life. He felt badly for her, and shamed of himself. He had been complaining of too much attention from one parent, and here poor Lizzy only had half of the family she wanted.
He was then thrown for a complete loop at what Lizzy said to him after that. Lucky for Lizzy, or unlucky, his expression was not hidden behind a hat. He was absolutely touched, and horribly humbled by her words. He honestly did not feel worthy of them. What had he done right to make such a kind friend? The reaper could not hide a deep blush, his eyes averting her gaze as he rubbed his neck. "Th...thank you.. I'm not sure I deserve their attention, but thank you." He had been a not so forgiving son, after all. He gave them nothing but trouble, though he often felt it was his right to be a complete a** to them. He loved them, just not so much their attempt at parenting.
He managed to look back to her again after gathering a bit of courage. "Is there a grade above A+? You'd rank much higher than me any day."

"You do," She smiled, giving a nod, "I like to believe that there is more than just FEAR needed when creating a scareling, after all. Perhaps your parents just don't know how to show their love and care in a way you can appreciate... Who knows?" At least, that was the most optimistic way of looking at things.
"Just think of school as your second home~ If so, you're like an older brother to me! Thus, we are now both out of the 'single child' club!" She couldn't resist chuckling softly at that before tilting her head, looking thoughtful, "Or... Are you younger than me?" It was difficult to tell sometimes, since school years were not classified by age but by time of entry... For example, Jericho is a couple hundred years older than her! He was still a teenager by dragon-standards though, "I'm 16, going on 17~"
She blushed at the compliment, pausing before pulling Mot into a hug, "Awww, thank you." That was all she had to say, really, since that was all that counted.

Well, one could only hope Lizzy's optimism had some truth in it. However, Mot was in no hurry to make amends with his family. If he could help it, he would not go back any time soon.
Amnity was his new home, as far as he was concerned. He had brought with him everything he felt he needed, so that he would not have to go back home for anything. He cheered at Lizzy's comment. Perhaps being out of the single child club was best.
Was he younger or older? "16. I won't be 17 for a while." He answered with a smirk. "But I'm taller. So Big Brother makes sense." Unless she was set on calling him little brother.
Mot smiled and returned the hug, deciding to be a brat and sway her side to side energetically.
