Was he... challenging her?! She puffed up, and by sheer force of will swam to him, and quickly. "I'll show you what a desert girl can do!" She snapped, once she reached him she lunged, landed on him, and pulled him under, using her tail to coil around his foot. She released him, swimming away. Now, without something to come after she started to sink.
Dammit all. Her sheer stubbornness had helped her swim. Now, she was a sinking ship. Flailing a little, she gasped for air and sank downwards, pawing at the water as she attempted to get back up.

He broke the surface, laughing and coughing a little. So...how should he get her back? Speaking of where was she?
Oh.
s**t.
No! No! No! 'Euphemia!' The water rippled where she'd gone under. He swam. He swam quicker than ever before. Taking a big gulp of air he dived. Dai had never been good at opening his eyes underwater, but godsdammit he forced them open. Her struggling earned him a lovely sock in the stomach, but now was not the time to wuss out. Grabbing the scruff of the vixen's neck he pulled her up towards the surface and towards dry land. 'Guess I'm gonna have to get a sucky-thing...you ok?' he panted.

When she hit dry land she felt the familiar sand, scrambling further up the beach and coughing out water, entire body limp as she spat out water and choked. How had she gotten up there? She looked over to spot Daichi as she coughed, eyes narrowed in their effort to watch him. He had saved her. Now, she was not one to be a damsel in distress, in fact she hated the idea. Though she was grateful.
"Tell me -cough- where this human -cough- sucky thing is." She bitterly snapped, growling as she flopped onto her stomach, ears against her head as she panted. Well, so much for swimming. Oh, she wasn't giving up, just for now she was...
"Thank you." She coughed out, splaying out to dry herself from the horrid waters.

He shrugged. What else would he have done, let her drown? Nah, she was too cute to die. He padded up to her. 'No idea, probably where they live' As he said this he went down beside her. He was tired and panting too, saving foxes was hard work. But Euph didn't seem like she'd turn it into a habit.
He patted her on the back to help her cough up what was left of the water. He sighed, she was pissed. Hell, he'd be pissed too. 'You don't have to go back in any time soon, but if you decide to, I'll be there' He had a feeling even if it was days away, Daichi would still help her. Even if she didn't want him there...If she wanted to try again at all.

She just glared at the water again, tail lashing back and forth violently. "Of course I'm trying again." She grumbled, poking at a sea shell violently. "Giving up is never an option, but for awhile I.." She didn't finish the sentence, but it was obvious she wasn't going anywhere close to the water for awhile.
She flopped her head down onto her paws, grumbling. "You am I supposed to find you when I do want to go back in?" Would he be waiting in a tree ready to jump out on words notice? She stopped talking, rose, and left Daichi for a good few minutes. He had saved her, so she would do something nice for him.
When she returned she flopped down a smashed crab she had just killed, sitting on her haunches. "Eat it, you need strength after hauling me from water."

'Woah, easy girl! What did that shell ever do to you?' He said in a half joking, half calm-this-angry-vixen-down tone. Then he went dead serious. What? He was capable of that. He was responsible and caring, just being around her made him just a little idiotic. ' Of course it isn't, but you never get back into a fight you're not prepared for'
Silence met Euphemia's question, because he didn't know how to respond. He knew what he could say, but he didn't know if he could do it. Daichi let her walk away, the best thing to do when someone got so determined. When she came back, he was surprised at how quick she was.
He'd just assumed she went away to vent her anger, but instead she threw him a crab. 'Thanks. And i don't suppose you can think of a way of finding me when you're ready to go back?' He said, then taking a mouthfull of meat.

The blunt vixen went through different responses. She could say that if he stayed here she could return, though she didn't know how long she'd be and if he would be stuck waiting for awhile. Hm. Flicking her tail, she considered other options.
What if he came with her?
... Such nonsense! She did not like long moment of being social. Then again, she never wanted someone to follow her. Maybe this was a sign that Daichi should follow her, since usually the thought never occurred to her until him? How strange. "You can come with me."

To say Daichi was taken aback a little was like saying the ocean was 'only a little damp'. He was shocked. Here was an anti-social vixen, who never really seemed like she needed anyone, offering to take him along with her. He'd figured they would just keep coming back to this beach every so often, but coming with her seemed so much...better.
He paused for a moment, thinking. Why couldn't he? His brothers didn't need him anymore, he didn't have a mate waiting for him. What was there to hold him back? 'Alright then' he said finally 'It'd be my pleasure. Any particular place we're headed?'

With the roll of the shoulders she nodded towards him, watching his face flicker emotions. When he spoke to her she padded over to her pinned scarf, lifting it back around her shoulders.
"The sea of sand." With a toss of her wet hair, she flung it over her shoulder. "My old home. I want to visit where my cousin and I used to live, if it's alright with you." She paused, raising an eyebrow at him. "Besides, the beach made me miss my home."

'Oh, that's more than fine, brilliant actually. I've never been to a desert before' Great, he was rambling. Probably now would be a good time to shut up. Definitely a good time to shut up. Yet...he just kept on talking.
'What's it like? Doesn't it get kind of...boring? Just sand ain't it?' Yes, because bombarding the girl with questions was a great way to start the journey. For once he was thankful she never spent much time around others, hopefully she would just presume this was how normal foxes (aka, foxes that weren't him) acted.

He never was quiet, was he? Perhaps this was a good thing, seeing as how she would be silent forever if she could. The blunt vixen raised an eyebrow, tail flicking.
"Maybe. But where I lived was a tower made by humans, probably for those that found themselves starving or dehydrated. Humans forgot about it, and my cousin raised me in it." She decided to move ahead, padding towards the trees.
"Where were you raised?"

His eyebrows shot up when she described where she lived. Wierd how humans just left stuff they didn't want lying around, but in this case that was a good thing. 'Wow, that's pretty cool...how to you get food and water in the desert? Can't be easy.' Dai had wondered that a while back. Sure, there were tribes out in the desert, but they were always near an oasis or river.
Daichi scrached behind his ear and thought. 'Man, I wasn't raised anywhere special like you. My brothers and I don't stay one place for long, so all over i guess. From time to time we'll go our seperate ways, like now' He followed, having no clue where her home was.
((time skip to when they reach the desert?))

- A day later -
Somehow, Euphemia and Daichi had stuck together. He hadn't annoyed the crap out of her, and she hadn't bored him. Hell, he had even made her laugh slightly. They had finally reached the desert and had been walking for a mile in it. For her the heat wasn't bad, though she wondered if Daichi was fine.
"How are you doing?" She asked. She had answered his question earlier about water by saying that the tower they lived in was right next to an oasis.

His sleeves were draped over his back and his mask was positioned to keep the sun out of his eyes. 'Fine, fine' he said trying to sound casual and not melt. Damn it was hot! Well, duh, it's the desert!
Daichi was mildly surprised his companion was able to put up with him for so long. He'd never forget what a cute laugh she had, and how he thought she should laugh more often. 'So, how long 'till we get there?' He was looking forwards to doing a cannon-ball straight into the oasis. A nice swim would be awesome after the journey.

"You have no tolerance for heat." She remarked on briefly, glancing back at the male. He was probably hotter than her, having a darker fur and not used to the desert. Hadn't he said it was his first time? Glancing back at him she noted his hair, suddenly moving in-front of him and wrapping her scarf around his forehead.
"I'll need to wash that when we get back." Blunt as always. "This should collect the sweat and keep it from getting in your eyes." With this she padded ahead, tail swishing side to side.
"I believe, counting steps, we will be at an oasis in about a half hour. I spent much of my kit-hood counting steps and learning to navigate with that."
