Sighing, relieved for now that Beni was not in direct danger, Painite returned her focus to the group.
She grinned when she felt another Nega show up, and a General to boot. She turned to see Hematite, knowing she recognized that voice from somewhere. Grinning ear to ear, she nodded her hello, not thinking him much for hugs and thinking she'd probably cut herself on his armor, anyway. He seemed busy glaring at Lyra, which Painite wasn't too happy with, but at least she understood that not everyone regarded them in the same light as she did.
The air was shifting. Things were getting a little more serious. A little more edged. And a whole lot more fun.
"Alright, there are quite a few of us here. I think we can take them from two points. They've already boxed themselves in for us, as thoughtful as they are, but we've got the edge. They know we're going to attack them, of course, but they don't know how or even when. Unless they come running toward us, which I know they won't do, we can take advantage."
She looked thoughtful for a moment.
"There are some strong auras down there... and I have to get down to my Lieutenant before they squish him. I say two of us each take an Eternal. We keep an eye on each other, and those of us who can move quickly can poof over if anyone is struggling or outnumbered. Senshi are weakest one on one. Focus on and split the Eternals, and the little babies won't be any trouble at all. What do you think, General Hematite?"
She grinned again, "I'd like that knight for myself later, if no one objects."

No good, no good. There was no attack, no youma, just this terrible universal held breath.
There were senshi energy signatures all around him now, strong and bright and right, but as another dark pulse swept the area, Tomlin thought it wasn’t going to be enough. The enemy had the high ground. They were on all sides. And Ganymede, for all his good intentions, was no stronger than the senshi he was protecting--
--Wait. That wasn’t right.
Tomlin gave Callisto a reassuring nuzzle, and jumped shoulders onto the red-clad boy. The energy pulsing within him was strong, far stronger than the form he’d taken. Claws catching on lace, he leaned over across the senshi’s bare chest, sensing for his starseed, strengthening it. There. A subtle change, but vital. He jumped clear and slid back to Callisto’s side to watch the effect of his handiwork.
But even as Ganymede transformed, Tomlin's heart sank. Strong though Ganymede was, even this wouldn't tip the odds. It was going to be a massacre, and they were all just waiting for it.
The cat's voice rang out from the centre of the little senshi cluster. "The civilians are clear. Run. Now, before they close in." They were everywhere. Even the powerful Eternal senshi would not be able to defend themselves trapped.
"Run."

Hesperis. So that was what she should call her roommate when she looked like this. She leaned over close and whispered, "It's me, Erika," and squeezed her friend's hand a little too desperately to be reassuring. She had Tomlin and Darryl, and they would keep her safe. Right?
What was a corrupted senshi? Why did people keep telling her to stay close to them? She didn't know them, and this whole situation just didn't seem like it was working out for them. The feeling like the rising storm wasn't abating, it was just getting worse and worse. She was starting to feel nauseous, even with people she knew she could trust right nearby. Europa, even, had proven herself reliable after the rescue at the theater. Except then the eldest senshi said those three words: We're sitting ducks.
Oh god she didn't want to die.
The brunette senshi didn't even wait to see what it was Tomlin had done to the red-haired senshi. Her anger and bravery from before just broke, and she turned on her heel and bolted from the scene just as Tomlin was telling the others to run. She didn't even notice the enhanced speed she now boasted; she just fled the scene, through the gates and hooking a left along the sidewalk.

Ganymede turned to Europa with wide eyes and a “oh, God, don’t say that, I’m not ready for this” sort of look on his face, and he had to swallow again to prevent his voice from cracking as he said, “And it started out as such a good day…”
He paused as he suddenly had a cat perched on his shoulder, glancing over to it, then down at it, startled to see it going for his chest. And then...
Well, he wasn't really sure how to describe it. But there was a lot of light, and he felt different, but the same, and it was sort of warm, kind of like he'd been one way before and that had felt right, but now he was changing or... growing... and it felt even better. More right, in a way. Like it was how he was supposed to be. It was funny and sort of strange, but good, too, and when the light cleared and everything settled into place, he felt an immediate sense of "ah, now I see..." Except the only thing he could see was that he looked somewhat different than he had a few seconds ago...
Ganymede... Super Ganymede looked down at himself, then at the others around him, then back at himself. "Oh..." he said, not sure what else to make of it, or even what else he was supposed to say. "Oh..."
Anything else was drowned out by Tomlin's shout to run, and Ganymede, momentarily frozen by the suddenness of everything around him, turned and stared as Callisto bolted.
"Wait... Callisto!!" he shouted after her, wondering now if running was perhaps not the best idea. Tempting, yes, but advisable? "Callisto, don't run off on your own!!"
And he took off following her. She was making herself an easy target, and though he knew he was now making himself just as easy, he couldn't not do anything! She was going to get herself killed!!

Europa hesitated. While she certainly didn't want to die, she was one of the strongest senshi here and if she ran and the others stayed, they wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell. The only way she was getting out of here was if everyone else left first.
Fortunately, it was down to her, Kallichore, Themis, Ganymede, and Hesperis. The most inexperienced among their number had already made a run for it, and with good reason. The other three senshi Europa trusted well enough, and again - she wasn't worried about Hesperis. She seemed competent and smart.
"Well," demanded Europa. "You heard the cat!" There were times and there were places to make your last stand. This wasn't it. Pick your battles.
"We're gonna get out of here. We're gonna run in opposite directions and we're gonna find somewhere with a lot of people and we're going to henshin down and blend in. And we're going to do it on three."
She glanced around, waiting for any small sign of confirmation but not really caring if it was given. It wasn't like they had any other choice with such a powerful force closing in.
"One, two..."
Europa glanced at the gate and at her allies, and hoped everyone was on board with the plan. "Three." she hissed desperately. Well. Super Ganymede hadn't waited. And now, neither was she.
Europa spun on her heels and took off running, vaulting over the wall and hitting the sidewalk sprinting. You had to know when to hold them and when to fold them, and it was definitely time to fold, take your chips, and cash out.

"Run? I mean, I know we're outnumbered but... and pardon my language, we could at least ******** 'em up before turning tail..."
Europa was right though - the cat had a point.
As much as Kallichore thought it would be excellent to go down in a blaze of glory, she understood what it meant to live for another day. As soon as Europa initiated the countdown, the super senshi's muscles tensed. Ganymede had received a power up, but it wasn't enough to tip the odds in their favor. Part of her was about to complement Ganymede on a more streamlined outfit, but they had surviving to do! Watching as the others picked their directions and bolted, Kallichore did the same. Fuku furling in the air, she took off with as much strength as her legs would allow.
She kicked herself for not being strong enough to withstand, how many was it? At least two generals she caught wind of, and an eternal corrupted on top of that. With another eternal senshi on their side (one she didn't recognize), it evened things out a bit, but they were still vastly outnumbered. One of these days, she told herself, she'd get some revenge for this battle. Kallichore hated to run away and hated not being able to mess with someone's brain even more.

"Sounds good to me, General." It paid to have a plan. Senshi were weaker alone, but they were still vicious and magical. Especially the eternals. They didn't get where they were by being bad at surviving - well, on second thought, maybe a few of them. Them and their stupid magic cats. But it wasn't ever a safe bet. His tone changed as he addressed the group in general, echoing Painite. "Do not let them regroup, do not get killed on our watch. But if you absolutely have to die, try to be helpful and not get in the way of -"
He turned his head sharply, eyes locked on the eternal with the flowing ribbons who had taken off. There was nothing else to say. He took a half-step backward and swung one gauntleted hand out to the nearest wrist, thinking he'd take the captain with him to strike. Instead, he'd grabbed Lyra's. Without even a glance to confirm his partner, they vanished.
Hematite and Lyra reappeared very suddenly on the sidewalk, some feet in front of Europa. Hematite dropped the arm he'd pulled with him and switched it to lifting his sword, jabbing the twisted weapon in front of him like a pike. With any luck this would be over shortly and the senshi would impale herself with her own momentum. If not...

Painite grinned, though her expression quickly fell when she realized the energy signatures were moving away from them. The senshi were running? But sticking all together?
Well that was interesting. It was like a herd of cattle, running to slaughter.
She looked at Fluorite, who had been left as Hematite vanished with Lyra. Uh oh. That wouldn't be good, as the other General wasn't too keen on Corrupted Senshi. Painite immediately worried for her sweet friend, but there was business at hand and they would have to focus on that rather than anything personal.
She grabbed hold of the Captain, knowing Fluo could teleport as well but wanting to help her conserve her energy, vanishing from their hiding place and reappearing near Benitoite's. She had promised to come get her Lieutenant, after all.
And she wasn't going to go back on that.
"Let's get us some senshi, hmm?" She took him by the shoulder, still holding on to Fluorite, and teleported once again, hoping she wasn't going to drain herself like she did when she was a Captain, taking them behind the second Eternal senshi. She quickly realized that she knew them both, but this one was one she had particular dislike for.
She gripped her new weapon, a long Javelin tipped with a spear head on one side and a pointed base on the other, and grinned. She had an upgrade, and so too did Mr. Saddles. Staff Corporal Saddles, as it were. She looked at her companions, winking, and the took the charge, throwing her javelin toward Themis' back.
If any of the senshi around him turned to join his fight, they would have it covered. But she was going to stick to her guns.

Something was going on, the senshi seemed to be getting further away, but why? He didn't hear the sounds one would associate with battle. So what had happened. He had been a little too wrapped up in his nerves and didn't hear the cat shout for them to run. If he had Benitoite wouldn't be so curious as to what was going on. But as it was he was curious, but knew better than to go peeking out from his hiding spot. He had a good, safe, hiding spot and was intent upon staying here until his General came to retrieve him, he knew she would.
Surprised, a little, by her appearance he turned around to smile at her and spotted Fluorite as well. "Captain." A bright smile, something which was rare for him, lite up his features. The two who had helped him greatly. It was nice to see them both. "What's going on? There...getting further away?" Curious as he nodded, letting Painite teleport them somewhere else.
Oh! Buttwings...they were after an eternal. That nervousness over took him once more, but no where near as bad as before. Keeping behind Painite he watched her attack, using that javelin of hers. Would this fight, with this Eternal, end in a victory? Would he wind up attacked or would he actually somehow become more involved than he was standing back where he was? These questions ran through his mind at lightning speed. Was this a good idea? It wasn't that he doubted the General or the Captain but still. It was just that a lot could happen during a fight and there was no way to predict what would happen ahead of time.

“Come on…” Chris mumbled nervously to himself, checking his watch for the third time in the last five seconds. There was something happening nearby. He could feel the energy signals gathering and it was making him extremely restless. He couldn’t leave his spot though. He was supposed to be meeting his girlfriend in less than five minutes. If he left now, who knew how long she’d end up waiting for him.
“s**t…” There was a youma, he could feel it. There were also good energy signals around it, and a new one appearing. And then the youma was gone.
Christopher forced himself to take a deep breath and calm down. The youma had been killed. There was no reason to worry about it any more.
Except there was every reason to worry because just as he was telling himself that there was no reason for him to freak out as he was, there was suddenly another surge in energy. Of the bad kind.
It was as though his blood had just frozen solid and he quickly reached into his pocket for his cell phone, typing out a hasty and probably misspelled text to his girlfriend telling her that he would be late and would be there as soon as possible.
Chris turned to run once the phone was safely back into his pocket, darting down a dark alley and was his viking-esque other half by the time he emerged on the other side, adjusting the headset over his right ear, just in case he felt the need to call for backup. There was a very dark power looming in the direction he was running. A few good energies, but he didn’t want to risk not getting there in time to help.
But before he could get to the scene, the energies started to disperse. What the hell was going on?
It was only when he spotted a senshi running towards him down the street, but she didn't slow down as she passed him. Er… okay…? He was just about to call out to her when he noticed the person in close pursuit.
“Ganymede? What’s going on? What are you wearing?” he called to the senshi he’d met on a couple of other occasions. Why were they running? He could sense that there were others splitting up and heading in different directions even though he couldn't see them from his vantage point. Was it really that bad that they didn’t think it wise to fight??
Without waiting for an answer, Valhalla turned to continue in the direction of the other energies, hoping to get to the bottom of this and figure out what he could do to help. What if someone got left behind??

Whatever it had been that Callisto had whispered to the knight, it had a very distinct effect.
Purple eyes went wide. W-What ?! "E-Callis-" Hesperis didn't didn't have time - Callisto had already ran off. The newly super Ganymede followed, and Hesperis was the next to bolt.
She knew what a corrupted senshi was. Camelot had told her. She had been hoping to never meet one, but as always, Hesperis has the best luck in the world.
But ******** if she letting those asshats even take one hair off Erika's head. They would have to get to her first.
...Which would actually be all too easy. So she ran.
It was the emergence of another page aura that suddently made her feel better. "Val !" There was no time to explain. Instead, the blue staff was all but trust in his hands.
"Do what you can ! I have to protect Callisto !" There was something here, a panic, a sort of helplessness that no one had ever seen out of her before. "Please !"
Then she ran off, still needing to catch up.

...Uh oh.
It didn't take too much thought to deduct that Ammolite hadn't been the general's intended teammate. But there was nothing she could do about it now. Surely to matter the dislike, a general wouldn't go out of his way to cause a corrupted harm.
...Right ?
But now the battle had begun, and Painite had teleported her down to the fleeing senshi. But their eternal...
Long blonde hair.
Pale eyes.
Black coat.
This ******** was where Fluorite lost it, both blades taking form in her hands and rushing forward the second Painite let her go.
"THEMIS !"
They were going home with that starseed tonight. Fluorite would make sure of it.

Ganymede streaked in the direction in which Valhalla had just appeared, half terrified to see him -- what if he got hurt? -- and half relieved that he was there, and not only because he wouldn't be the only one late for their date. He slowed very little, only enough to allow him to speak at a rapid pace, "Europa and Kallichore are back that way. You'll know Europa when you see her. Dark hair, outfit looks like a bathing suit, wings on the back. There's another one with wings, too, and someone else like you."
Though it appeared that someone was also following. Ganymede lingered only a few moments longer before taking off again, shouting over his shoulder as he watched the other page hand off her staff, "Help them, Val! Swing something, throw something as hard as you can, just... do something! I need to go after Callisto! I'll be back as soon as I can!"
And he was running away, turning back around to keep Callisto in his sights. "Callisto!" he tried to call out to her again. "Callisto, it's okay!"
Only it wasn't. It really wasn't.

It was, perhaps, unfortunate for Painite that her chosen companion was on a vendetta. It was Fluorite's warcry that put Themis on alarm, turning just as the spearhead had grazed him.
The angry midget he actually had no idea who the hell she was. Damnit, apparently it had taken a long time for the negaverse to put him on the map, but it had happened.
More interesting, perhaps, was the one wielding the spear. He knew this one, remembered her. "Well, I didn't know the negaverse promoted their agents based on their failures, that a new one !" He was probably overdoing it, but...
If they were going for him, they weren't going for the normal senshi or the two pages. That was critical.
He could lag them a little more, too.
"Themis Noise Shield !"
The shield flared to life in front of him, Fluorite's two knives crashing down into it rather than him. Something chaotic like this always was good in this case. Gave him a nice, strong shield.
