Hail only blinked at the male’s raised voice. So he was not a male that loved other males. He was interesting and didn’t upset her. “I think it would be difficult not to hear. I see, so you like females.” She looked him up and down. “Then if you enjoy the company of females would you consider spending more time with me in such capacity as a potential mate?” She sat at attention to hear the response. This was her first time asking such a question. She wanted the answer to be favorable to the emotions that she was feeling. Exactly what the male thought of her was a mystery thought.

Razor just stared blankly at Hail. Blinked. Blinked again. And just continued staring some more. "Say what," he finally choked out, for once unable to come up with some bit of acid wit for his retort. But that had to be the weirdest way he'd ever been asked....what, exactly? On a date?

“I asked if you would consider spending more time with me as a potential mate seeing as your interest does not lean to that of males.” Her left ear flicked once. “I was under the impression that one asked for such an occurrence if it was an interesting proposition. Am I mistaken in this regard?”
(She doesn’t know the word “date”… well at least she got the potential part right and didn't jump right into mates.. sweatdrop )

"Well most o' th' time yeh don' ask, it just happens like that," Razor replied, still highly bemused by the turn this conversation had taken. "An' yous don't go startin' off dates by mentionin' the word "mate" 'til you've at least talked to the dude more than a handful of sentences. I don't even know yous well enough t' tell if you're insane 'r serious, let alone figure somethin' like mates."
The pained expression Razor wore was actually amusing. Trump would doubtless mock him for it for the rest of his days if he ever found out. So would all the rest of his brothers for that matter, if he was any judge on his family.

Listening quietly without interrupting Hail made mental notes of what the male said. So that was how other foxes did such things. She wondered how things would just happen if both parties were interested yet neither came forward to express their feelings. She rather liked this strange forward male’s company even if he always seemed to be yelling or at least on the verge of doing so, and if he didn’t understand the basic premise of a fair trade. Then again all other foxes were rather strange.
Blinking she looked at his face wondering what was wrong with him. Did the things he not know truly bug him that much or was it that he didn’t know if she were insane or not. “I would not have asked where I not serious. As I have stated before I am not known for my ablity to make jokes. What knowledge would you require of me to know if being potential mates was a possibility?”
(oh wow this is scary I can just see her trying to be romantic latter in life *uses Hail’s voice in a monotone fashion* ‘Razor I want you, make babies with me’ *falls over giggling*)

Razor snorted, and started to pace. "There ain't some kind o' test ya take ta determine that thing," he said, orange eyes frustrated. He was never one for words, that was Trump. Nor did he really want to explain this, but it was either that or turn tail and run like heck. His macho side wouldn't allow it.
"Look, I don't know if yous is insane 'r not, but it yeh ain't then what makes you think somethin' like this would work out, eh? I yous don't really know what th' heck I'm talkin' about, then yous ain't got any proper connection to yer emotions. These things is instincutal!"
He paused and drew himself up a bit. "I'm all about instinctual. It ain't just a matter o' mates, it's in all things. How is yous gonna ever be able to understand what I'm sayin' if yous don't have that kind o' connection. How th' heck am I gonna understand you."
These were more rhetorical, statements rather than actual questions. They were serious enough though, for when he thought on it they really were total opposites.

Hail sighed aloud. Other foxes made things so complicated sometimes. “I believe that there is a possibility that given time we would be able to find out more information about one another and would be able to continue to get along. You are one of the few foxes that is open and easy for me to understand. I find other foxes to be.. Confusing. They never take time to explain things. I am perfectly in harmony with my own emotions. I enjoy speaking with you and find your company to be relaxing. I would not have offered the shell in trade for such company where it not enjoyable.” Hail said the last word in a softer calm tone that she rarely used. “That is why I asked if you would considered spending the time period before foxes consider becoming mates with me. I have never asked such a personal request before, nor do I do this easily. ” She raised a paw in the air before Razor. “Yes I am aware that actually asking to become mates is a more personal question than just asking for the time foxes spend together building up for such a thing; however, I have never asked for that jump either.”
(nods yes and?)

Razor shook his head. He was just so out of his depth here. For one thing he had an issue with anyone trying to put ties on him, whether they were familial, friendship, or love ties. He was used to making the first move when he wanted something, and truthfully he preferred it like that. Hail kept throwing him off and never gave him a moment to truly recover.
"Yous really must not 'ave spent much time wit' others," he said. "Yous don't give items ta a person in exchange fer their company, yous give yourself. Ya know, repay company wit' company an' all that. Tryin' to give stuff away in exchange jus' fer havin' someone around, it's like tellin' 'em they ain't worth nothin' or that yer tryin' t' buy their company."
Razor shrugged. "Ain't nothin' wrong wit' givin a gift fer no reason other than ya wanted to, but if someone asks ya say cause ya wanted ta and not cause you 'found their company pleasant', hear what I'm sayin'?"

She shook her head no when the male mentioned others. “No I do not find myself in the company of others often, nor for long.” Hail thought about what the male said carefully. “I think I understand, but if I did not find your company pleasant I would not have offered the shell. Nor would I have offered you something that I liked, such as this, if I did not enjoy the time spent with you. I have no intentions on buying any company since it seems silly to buy company when I could always just go and find a big group of foxes to speak with. So then isn’t what I said the same as saying ‘because I wanted too’? I only clarified the base reason why I wished to. That being the enjoyment derived from conversing with you.”
Still wanting to make him comfortable she smiled. “Still if company is more often repaid by company then I will give myself to you.” Having completely misunderstood that particular turn of phrase the male used she proceeded to move herself to the male’s side and sit and watch him with her tail wagging before sharing a nice little fact. “You have not identified yourself you know.”
(mmm amazingly she still wants to date Razor even though she never learned his name…. odd fox.)

Poor Razor! The male made an odd choked sound, and it was a good thing none of his brothers were here to witness this; they'd end up laughing themselves sick, and Razor would have then been obligated to dispense a bit of brotherly roughing up.
"Ya don' jest give yerself ta others," he protested. "Tha's like bein' a servant or a slave!" With Razor's own freedom-loving nature, the idea was even more horrifying to him than when Hail had implied that he might find the romanctic company of males pleasurable.
"Identified m'self," he continued, still thoroughly bewildered.
((Haaaail, quit breaking poor Razor's brain!))

“What you mean? You were the one who said that giving one’s self was the proper way to repay a good stimulating conversation..” Hail looked at Razor honestly confused. She cocked her head to the right and her left ear flicked twice. “I was more inclined to spend more time with you since your company was so enjoyable and then perhaps in a few seasons if we both felt joy from one another’s company then perhaps becoming mates could be considered. Still simply giving yourself to someone who you know you enjoy is a faster way to do it. Though I wonder what would happen if you stayed a few seasons and found their long term company disenchanting. ” She blinked slowly and sat back on her haunches straightening her head. “Yes identified yourself. I have informed you my name is Hail, your name was never given.” She wrapped her tail around herself and looked at him awaiting his next words. She found herself eager to hear his name. He was a particularly interesting fox, and she already learned so much from him.
(she doesn’t mean to! She’s just built insane like that… >.> I’m not even sure what to make of her… also you are responsible for me having to clean up hot chocolate off my keyboard. The post you did in MakanixViolet actually had me chocking with laugher and I spilled some hot coco…. I love you, but you kill me..)

Did all talking with females involve wanting to walk over to the nearest tree to beat the sense back in your brains cause you could feel it pouring out your ears? Cause that's what this felt like, indeed it did.
"Name's Razor," he mumbled, shaking his head and trying to put mental blocks on his brain so it would quit trying to ooze away.
((I'm like Hail, I can't help that I cause damage/chaos to others XD You should know better than to eat and drink things when reading my entries, could be dangerous!))

Sighing Hail looked at Razor like she pitied him just a bit. It was true he took time to explain things, but he could be just as confusing as other foxes at times. “Very well I’ll give you my friendship, though how to do that if I’m not around you physically is somewhat of a mystery to me.” She tapped her box and gave herself time to organize her thoughts and things about things.
“mmm Razor.” It was a strong name, for an usually fun fox. He didn’t want her physically, yet was willing to be friends and had an usual way of viewing things. Often times his thoughts and words seemed contradictory. Hail smiled. “Razor are you well?” She watched him shake his head. His face looking like he had sucked on a lemon. Seeing as Hail had not seen him put said food item into his mouth she assumed something was wrong.
(That’s a scary thought. >.> I’ve learned that now >////< )

"Yer confusin' the heck outta me," Razor promptly replied, feeling no shame at the bluntness. In ordinary cases he wouldn't have felt shame anyway, and in this particular case it seemed Hail required point-blank bluntness to get the idea.
"Ain't never met someone who needed me ta explain all th' little difference 'tween friendship an' datin'. Just un'erstood it, cause it's somethin' tha' you don't really get usin' words."
He looked the female up and down, still frowning. "Even now I don' think ya get it, but ain't no way to's explain it so's it makes any sense other than yous just goin' out and learnin' from 'xperience."

Hail blinked and looked down. “My apologies. I do not mean to confuse you.” She sighed lightly. “If it’s not explained with words than what is the difference?” Her tone showed that she was confused and slightly stressed by all this.
She blinked. Experience. That was it. “mm I see, well then I’ll stay near you and you can help me get experience.” She smiled thinking the idea was a good one. This way Razor could tell her when an action was friendship or more.
She dusted off invisible specks of sand off her most precious box. “I have no obligations to be in other places so I can follow you without incident.”
