Now that was a good clear instruction Danny could understand. She tapped her head and said, "Oops. Sorry." Danny followed Taryn back to the table like a baby duck following its mother. As she spoke Danny pulled out a clean sheet of paper and began writing once again.
Clean sheet Danny Fitz October 31st Sex Ed Hwk.
Danny chewed on the tip of her pen. What did she think a FEAR infection was? In her own words and thoughts. Okay. She could do this.
Clean sheet Danny Fitz October 31st Sex Ed Hwk.
A fear infection is when peoples' fears don't match up. Like if one lady was really really strong and a dude was really really week, then they would get horrible moldy stuf all over. But if too people were really strong, then they make happy baby pumpkins with no moldy stuf.
Danny smiled in admiration at her work. She even used an example. "Is that good?" she asked Taryn, eager to please her teacher.

"Well, pumpkins are a whole different story. Maybe you should say that when two people are strong they're less likely to get sick." Of course, the spelling and grammar were atrocious, but that was a lesson for another day. Some people just didn't write as well as others, it happened. Taryn herself wasn't the grandest master of the pen. "That's good, though! I think you're getting it!"
The chimera ghoul turned to her papers then and pointed at one diagram.
"It seems like... you can buy protection spells if you know where to look, but it's easier if you know somebody, or if you make it yourself," she nodded, "but if you do it yourself it could fail, because... I mean, if you're in control of your Fear you don't really need one." She slid another picture closer and to Danny. "See? There's pendants you can wear or... scrolls? Things to hang up by the bed, or the...uh. By the whatever you're..." What was the word? "...mating on...
The flush returned to Taryn's cheeks and she cleared her throat awkwardly. And she had been doing so well!

Danny preened internally as Taryn complimented her fine work. Danny liked these compliments. As Taryn continued to speak, she made the necessary amendments Taryn had mentioned.
Clean sheet Danny Fitz October 31st Sex Ed Hwk.
A fear infection is when peoples' fears don't match up. Like if one lady was really really strong and a dude was really really week, then they would get horrible moldy stuf all over. But if too people were really strong, then they make happy baby pumpkins with no moldy stuf. that are less likely to get sick.
There! It was perfect. Well maybe not absolutely perfect. There was still more to write! Danny was really glad she'd called on Taryn- she would've never gotten all this work done without the ghoul's help. She would have to give her some kind of reward.
Pictures! Danny loved pictures. As she stared at the colored images that Taryn was motioning to, Danny was trying to analyze them. It wasn't working well. She glanced back down at her paper. "So ... which one should we write about?" The pendants made more sense to Danny, but the wall scrolls seemed easier to write about, especially since Taryn seemed to have some sort of knowledge about it? Which protection spell should we take?

"You can pick whatever you want!" Taryn grinned; her happiness at helping spread knowledge was totally apparent. "We can find more information on whatever. You can... talk about kind of a... general thing? Briefly explain all the different kinds... or we could pick one or the other, in which case the spells might be easier. They're easier to find, it seems." She drew her finger down a splash of links at the bottom of a page, informing the user that protection scroll could be bought here or there. Of course, there was also a single succubus that specialized in protection amulets, but that could become a biography if they went at it too hard.
"So what do you want to do?"

Wait wait wait. Danny could pick to write about whatever she wanted? Why were they writing about Sex Ed then? It definitely wasn't Danny's topic of choice. She would prefer writing about hell hounds, or maybe guitars. Not mating. "I want to write about guitars," she decided. That would make a good essay right? She could talk about her experience with the guitar, how to play it, all sorts of things. That was something she could manage.
Even as she said it, Taryn kept explaining though. Wait now they were back to amulets and spells. Danny's eyebrows knit furiously. You'd think she'd have wrinkles by now.
"Ohhhh you mean like. I can pick what we talk about ... but ... Taryn I'm confused" she frowned a bit more. She was just about to tell Taryn to give up, leave the library before Danny caused any more damaged. Maybe she was unteachable.

...oh boy.
Just when Taryn thought they were making some real progress, everything went to heck again. You had to be very careful with your words around this ghoul, didn't you? Oh, if only writing papers was that easy; if you could just write about whatever you wanted. Taryn would never write about sex ed ever again.
"No, no, you have to write about sex ed," she corrected, nodding, "but within those parameters-- uh. Well, you can write about whatever you want, about sex ed. You picked protection, so we're working on protection. You can write about whatever kind of ...sssexual protection you'd like, and whatever about it... but, yes, it does unfortunately have to be about sex ed."

Danny frowned. Oh. She couldn't write about guitars. Was Taryn a snake? The way she said "sexual" made her sound like a snake. Then again, she did have one on her butt- maybe it was that thing talking?
Wait wait wait. How long did Taryn have a snake behind her? Danny looked at it and waved, seeing if it might respond back.
She looked back at Taryn's pictures. It seemed like charms made the most sense- after all, if it was something you could wear while making ... creating ... mixing? a pumpkin, then that would make the most sense. It would just filter your FEAR for you. Danny liked this idea. "I think writing about Charms and Amulets makes the most sense. After all, it means lots of pretty, shiny things right?."
Danny loooved dem shinies.

Abigail did indeed react, inclining her head toward Danny and blinking at her. She might have waved if she had arms, but barring that she undulated in the demon ghoul's general direction, staring.
Taryn was paying her tail no mind and continued speaking through it.
"Alright! So you can write about amulets," she nodded. Charms, she thought, were more incantations and spells than shiny baubles, so she'd let that one go. "Here. See what you can get from these here, and decide some of what you want in your paper." She slid a handful of articles toward Danny, some of which had already been highlighted to assist. There wasn't a whole lot to say about protection in particular, except how it did its protecting and how to properly use one. Apparently there was some market in fake protection, which was a little terrifying, and another entirely based around protection amulet fashion. Taryn herself was learning a bit about all of this mating travesty as well.

While it seemed Taryn was really trying her best, Abigail was completely foiling her plans- possibly unsuspectingly. Danny was now completely distracted by the snake.
Excitedly, she said, "Taryn! Taryn! Did you know you have a snake behind you!!" She continued waving and making "goo-goo" faces at the snake, completely elated.
When Taryn brought up the other amulets, Danny was forced to drive back on task, if not a bit huffily. Danny nodded at Taryn's suggestions, but her heart definitely wasn't in it. She was too distracted by the snake! Lazily, she wrote out some notes:
Wtf Danny Danny Fitz October 31st Sex Ed Hwk.
A fear infection is when peoples' fears don't match up. Like if one lady was really really strong and a dude was really really week, then they would get horrible moldy stuf all over. But if too people were really strong, then they make happy baby pumpkins with no moldy stuf. that are less likely to get sick.
There are lots of amulets. Like a lot a lot. There are shiny ones, and green ones and ranebow ones, and ones that are kind of weerd and pink and ones that are in weerd shapes. Theres this one that looks like a snake, kind of like the snake on Taryn's
Wait, she couldn't write that! This essay was getting off topic, and Danny knew it. Besides, it didn't seem polite to talk about another student's derriere in an essay. Danny made the necessary changes, then moved on with her paper.

Theres this one amulet called a trojan horsie that a lot of people seem to like using. It comes in lots of sizes and shapes, but it uses FEAR to ... protect stuff.
Danny smiled at her paper. "How does that look?" she said. The fire demonness held the paper up for Taryn to see, like a child showing their mother a badly drawn duck with a golden star on it.

Taryn exhaled through her lips with a soft 'hbbbb'. Damn you, Abigail, and your ability to stun students stupid. This paper certainly wasn't A-grade, but the ghoul was beginning to realize that maybe her expectations had been set too high. Perhaps the professor would take pity on Danny? It was possible, and they could, of course, meet again.
Oi.
"That looks good, Danny!" Taryn grinned nodding. It was like encouraging a child to finger paint. Some things just had to be done. "Are you satisfied with it?"

Danny was absolutely elated with Taryn's compliment. Her beautiful masterpiece was good. That was better than most of the comments she got. Not to mention Taryn's facial expression wasn't one of outrage or completely frustration. Not even a trace of anger! Maybe a little disappointment, but this was one of the better looks she had gotten in a while.
"Am I satisfied with it? Well I mean I guess, it's good after all," she said, a sly grin crossing her face as she emphasized the word good.
Danny put the paper back in her scrapsack and began to clear the table of all the crumbs she'd left from the hunk of bread she brought. "So uhm ... are we done here?" Danny's elation had turned into anxiousness. Now that she had done an adequate job on her homework, she really didn't want to stay in the library any longer than necessary.

Taryn was gad to have made Danny happy, even if it did mean a sub-par score on her homework. She imagined that the ghoul didn't get much more than-- no, no, that was mean, she mustn't think like that. She met the demon ghoul's grin with her own, but it did begin to fall when Danny spoke again.
"Done... um. Yes! I mean, sure. Yeah, we're done." It seemed to her that her pupil had somewhere more important to be, which was totally understandable. Very few students actually liked spending their time studying or doing homework, let alone under the scornful eye of the librarians.
"If you need any more help, don't hesitate to contact me, okay?"

Danny grinned stupidly at the ghoul, happy to be released from her homeworking-doing confinement. She liked Taryn a lot though. The ghoul was really smart, which meant lots of cheating on tests help with homework!
So when Taryn offered contact information, Danny greedily sapped it up. "Ooh yesyes! Here's my eyephone number." Of course she had an eyephone, but the stupid dolt didn't know how to use it. After quite a few minutes of fiddling with her phone, she scribbled the number down and handed it to Taryn.
Of course, it was rather odd that the one needing help was dispensing out her number. Not that it concerned Danny in any way shape or form.

"Uhhh..."
Taryn couldn't quite remember if Danny had called her or come to her room at first, but either way the ghoul had some sort of form of contact. She nodded and took the number after a moment, though, and nodded. Danny wasn't the brightest bulb in the box. She could check in every so often to make sure the demon hadn't lit herself or someone else on fire. The chimera tucked the paper into her book and stood.
"Alright. I'll see you!" Taryn's first tutoring session had not been the most successful nor the least frustrating, but she felt somehow... accomplished as she left the library. Maybe she would like to do this again...
