Calder frowned at the suggestion of a carriage.
A carriage.
He was a kelpie.
"I'm not riding in some contraption that exhaust horses because I want to take a nap. That's just wrong." He sat up a bit straighter, setting the tin aside as he licked his own fingers. "I'd rather be tired than do that." He narrowed his eyes at Barth for simply suggesting it.
"I may say I'm a kelpie and that I'm not a horse, but that doesn't mean their not my kin in some way or form." They were just a different sort. The guilt alone would hurt Calder to see and hear the poor creatures working hard just so he could reline in some plush luxury.

Calder was still a bit leery of said offer. "....no cows or lizards or whatever else dragging it?" They weren't as important to him, but it still meant making something else a beast just so he could recline.

Calder leaned back a bit more, shoulders hunched a bit. A condition with a demon could be anything. This is Barth, Calder. Worst it could be is laundry or picking up a few things. Igor stuff since Christof isn't about. Nothing too bad. ".....what condition?"

Calder was waiting on some condition or even a contract, but was pleasantly surprised instead. Ears up and tail flicking, he sat up straight and beamed. "Really? You want to come alone? Of course I don't mind at all! It's terribly miserable walking on your own. Sure, it's nice to be out and about and independent without your parents with you all the time and being able to pick where you go but there isn't anyone to talk to and I think the bats look at me funny if I talk to myself and you just go on and on and on whistlin' the same tune and I never realized how many songs I don't know the lyrics to." He couldn't believe Barth even wanted to go anywhere especially after saying he didn't even want to get his hair done.
"And if you want, we can get your hair done somewhere if it's really a bother because I know you don't like getting around without needing to. I'm even sure Christof would just thrilled at seeing you too."

"That's settled, then," Barth said. Venturing out for a chore like getting his haircut was a different situation entirely than a visit with Christof's mysterious Master Creator. And he couldn't have Calder getting all that exercise, either. "When are you setting off again, sometime this week?

Calder rose up and headed off to fetch his bag, dragging it over beside the couch and riffling inside. "I had it planned that I'd stay here for a few days and then head back out. Get some rest in, restock a bit, and hope for good weather." The rain was helping him out greatly as it made traveling by river much easier.
Puling out a beaten map, he spread it out. The map was made of cloth, resistant to water, and was written out in ink. A rather natural map of HalloweenTown. "See. Here is Amityville. I was thinking that if I took this river winding up here through these woulds all the way up, then I could then stop here and take a day or so up into these woods to get to his place. I don't know how fast it would be if we took roads instead and used your carriage though." Calder looked at the river that went a loopy bit around the place and then to the roads that were vastly more direct as they cut through everything.
"What do you think?"

"Definitely the carriage. My capacity for soggy is limited. ...And a lot of my clothes take a long time to dry. Not a bad drive, all considered."
Barth leaned back into the sofa.
"It is my expert opinion that you should get on top of the resting. If you don't get started on it now, it'll sneak up on you later."

"Soggy isn't bad at all." Calder pointed out as Barth made himself comfortable. Smiling, Calder turned about and leaded his back against Barth's side, getting comfortable too. What was the point of visiting a friend if you weren't going to have any bonding time, and if Barth was going to nap, then nap bonding it would be!
"......but..." to which he curled the map and leaned over Barth's lap to set it on the table. "........a good rest doesn't sound bad at all." Especially after all the traveling he got to get here.
Resting back, he shifted his back into Barth's couch and his side, both being equally comfortable and soft. "......and you are an expert." He whispered, needing very little convincing.
