Eilea I remember "Harrison Bergeron" by...Kurt Vonnegut, was it? That title rings a bell, but I can't place it. I think we might have read it in 7th grade... Or maybe not. What's it about?

What's it about? it has to do with equality, and smarter people wear headphones with loud noises so they can't think as much, and stronger people wear weights... and then something with floating in the end of the story o.0

Diane Duane or something. Oh, and the Bartimaeus Trilogy is by Jonathan Stroud. sweatdrop Has anyone read Shadowmancer? I started reading it a few days ago but I procrastinated in reading it, so I'm only up to page 70 somthing. It's really good, by G. P. Taylor. There's also a sequal, but I don't know what it's called.

I went to Borders! I bought Abarat, but I'm not going to read it for a while because I have 2 other books to read first, and I might read some of my mom's books, too.

Time to add another book by Jostein Gaarder! The Solitaire Mystery. I'm reading it right now and it's a really good book. 3nodding
PS: It's fiction.

Hows about Bury The Lead by David Rosenfelt? I started reading it today, and it cracks me up. He has a few others I didn't read, it's a series, sort of, Open And Shut, First Degree, and Sudden Death.

Here's a short list of books I would reccommend. Maybe not really philosophy, but...they provoke a lot of thought.
She's Come Undone, by Wally Lamb - Not sure if it's fiction/bio/autobiograph
I Never Promised You A Rose Garden (by i forget who sweatdrop ) - Autobiography (under a pen name)
*debating whether to add 1984 by George Orwell...sooo boring in places* - Fiction, we all know it razz
Either Time And Again or Time After Time, whichever is the first one, by Jack Finney....I forget the order. Probably Time After Time. The first one was better. The second one was just an exaggeration, really.... - Fiction
...can I add a magazine? The political magazine Harper's is amazing....and has some really amazing stuff in it a lot of times... - Articles
I'll get my friend to add some stuff......Gah I so want him to be in this guild whee

I have some interesting/amusing books to add:
Heavy Metal and You by Christopher Krovatin
Nasty Book by Barry Yourgrau
And I'll probably mention more once I finish all of these Uncorrected Proof books...heh.

I saw this thread and my inner bookworm kicked in. Ergo, here are my suggestions.
A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess The Stranger, by Albert Camus Waiting for Godot, by Samuel Beckett Johnny Got His Gun, by Dalton Trumbo
Johnny Got His Gun and A Clockwork Orange aren't exactly for the weak of constitution. They're both pretty violent, and the protagonist rapes a woman in A Clockwork Orange.
They'd all fall under the catergory of fiction, although Waiting for Godot is actually a play (pronounced Guh-dough, for the record.)

Intriguing...
And speaking of rather effective books, anyone ever heard of House of Leaves? Because, I've been wanting to get a hold of said book for sometime now so I could read it. And I have finally found a friend who possesses it (bought it in Spain...)! And he won't let me because he thinks it'll scare me... stare
And YES! Another book worm!
End transmission. =d
