"Yo."
Vaith held up a hand in acknowledgement and greeting towards Riley, instinctively, before he realized .. Well, she hadn't actually .. talked physically. You could see the moment where he pinpointed that realization, a little jolt .. and a glance towards Riley. But his expression remained the same, lowering his hand. He gave the same greeting towards Aislin, suddenly through back into conversation by Xiu's urge to tell her ghoulfriends of their meeting.
"Oh, yeah, I'm excited. Who wouldn't be, free food, pictures, dancing .. It's gonna be a blast." The corner of Vaith's mouth may have turned upwards a little, revealing itself to be a quick smirk that faltered and transformed into silence when Lizzy asked her question. He tipped his head in bewilderment. The ghoul had mentioned something about bringing a boilfriend to the dance. Was it weird for a boilfriend to not have a ghoulfriend to the dance?
"I'll .. get back to you on that, Lizzy." He said quickly, spotting a very familiar gryphon heading towards him. He quickly stood up to whisper into Xiu's ear, cupping a hand secretively. Something to the effect of meeting up with him afterwards.
If the gryphon HADN'T been there, Vaith probably would have told Xiu right there on the spot. But really, it was all too embarassing and Vaith wasn't quite sure why.
"YO, REN." He said cheerfully, his frown lightening up. He lifted up his hand to pull Ren in a sort of manly handshake, knocking fists with the gryphon. "Long time no see, man," He echoed, giving him a nod. "Haven't seen you since the orientation for the island thing."

A wide, pleased smile broke out across Ren's face, though he did his best to not look happy to see the reaper. "Vaith, my man," he said, and returned the gesture, knocking his fist together with Vaith's.
How long had it been, anyway? The last time he had seen Vaith was briefly on that stupid island field trip that Ren preferred not to remember most of the time. The reaper seemed pretty at ease and normal, which made Ren relax a bit; Vaith had always been a good friend, and seeing him again was pleasant.
"Yeah, it's been a while," he said, shaking his head. "It's been much too long, dude. I feel like we keep going through these weird periods of time where we're totally AWOL. How have you been lately, anyway? How's life?"
Ren's gaze flickered briefly to the pale haired ghoul whose ear the reaper had whispered in before he glanced back at Vaith, lifting one amused eyebrow in a silent question. He did not know her, but Vaith seemed close with her, which was interesting in and of itself, since he knew how...er, stubborn the reaper could be.

"Thank you, Lizzy! I don't want to bother you all the time though." Xiu grinned, thinking about just how lucky she was to have a friend like Lizzy around. If it weren't for her...well, her first few days at Amityville may have been a lot more awkward or lonely. "And the next time I go shopping, you know I'll definitely ask you to accompany me. We should do a group trip sometime!" Not that she had anything else she really needed to buy right now, but window shopping with friends was fun too, right?
Her gaze slid to Vaith as Lizzy's attention turned to the both of them, and at the question, the Baku was quick to shake her head. "O-oh, no, we just ran into each other at the maul, was all!" She squeaked, looking a little embarrassed, "We found our formal wear in the same store and stuff, so..."
Xiu trailed off, tilting her head curiously as reaper whispered something to her. She turned to blink at him questioningly, but nodded to let him know that she understood.
Her gaze then followed him as he approached another boil who had entered the classroom, and the Baku rose a hand to offer a friendly wave to the newcomer. What's this? A friend? She smiled approvingly, glad to see that Vaith had a male friend that he could converse with as well. She had been getting a little worried that all the talk of shopping and dresses was boring him.

"That we do. I've been .. okay." Vaith's tone was a little hesitant, unusual for him, as he followed Ren's gaze. No choice then, he thought to himself. In the moment where both friends seemed to mutually acknowledge each other, Vaith took advantage of that to gesture towards the respective monsters and demons. Coughing to clear up his throat, he decided it was time for his first boil friend to meet his first ghoul friend.
"This is Ren. We met during our mutual naptimes." He turned towards Xiu, turning slightly to the side. "This is Xiu. She helped me out in this whole prom crisis at the maul." Vaith gave, what he thought, was a satisfactory introduction. They could fill in the rest of the blanks. Vaith sent Ren a side glance and a nod of his head-- He needed to talk to Ren about things.
Ren would know best! He hung around with a lot of ghouls and boils -- He had to know.

"Just okay?" Ren asked Vaith, tilting his head curiously to the side. There was a vague note of uncertainty in his friend's voice; unusual, since the reaper was usually so grump...er, confident. But he let it slide for the moment, instead offering him a mildly resigned smile. "Yeah, I know how that goes. It's been pretty tough getting back into the swing of things here. Lots of stuff going on lately."
Lots of good AND bad stuff, Ren though as Vaith waved over the pale haired girl. He smiled at her and held out his hand as the reaper introduced them.
"A pleasure to meet you, Xiu," he said. "I'm glad to see Vaith has made some friends other than myself," Ren added jokingly, grinning at the reaper. His expression flickered at the nod from Vaith, slightly confused at first, but then it dawned on him - ohhhhhhh. Ren returned the nod with the barest one of his own.
"So, Xiu," he said, turning back to the ghoul. "Are you new here? I don't believe I've seen you around yet."

"I know you know, but Lizzy asked me so I answered her." Junko replied calmly and gently to Aislin, trying very hard not to snap at her. Of course Aislin knew. Did she think Junko was a complete idiot or something? Because contrary to popular belief, she wasn't! She was an intelligent young lady who just had her stupid moments! Sigh. There was no use getting into a tizzy about it though, she wanted Aislin to make more friends outside of Seiji..for everyone's sake. Was that wrong of her? She hoped not.
Wait, someone was envious of her? Junko blinked and turned to Xiu again, looking quite surprised. Someone envied her? That was a new one! She'd never been envied before as far as she knew! Junko couldn't help but smile. "We can teach you, if you like!" Or try. "I'd be happy to, anyway. Lizzy?" Junko turned to Lizzy for a moment to confirm her answer, still smiling. It'd be fun!
Pictures? Wow! That'd be fun too! She was just getting more and more excited for this with every mentioning of it. She heard the sound of hooves on wood and looked up, grinning and raising an arm to wave eagerly to Calder. "Hi Calder!" He..didn't look very excited. Was he okay? Her arm dropped and she held the back of her chair with both hands, her head tilting and a section of hair lifting as well like a canine's ear. Was everything okay? He didn't look as cheerful! Jericho did, and she gave him a wave as well as Ren. "You're not intruding." She told him cheerfully.

Calder had been more on edge for the fact he never felt right being in a room with so many people that either didn't feel comfortable with him around or just outright hated him. It would be hard, he felt, to make his opinions heard, but he was armed with stubbornness and imagination today. He just had to work in being civil which was a rather hard thing to accomplish with certain company. Consider this a test. Be calm like a puddle.
He breathed deep before someone called his name. Ears pivoting, he turned to see Junko, the shy little ghoul with the weird hair mouth. Smiling, he waved to her and pushed his hooves on the ground to scoot his desk over. "Hi, oh, and hi." He said, to both Junko and her head, which he waved at since he didn't know if the mouth had eyes and could see through the hair. He didn't get the chance to look that closely after all. "Excited about Prom?" Of course she would be if she was here. "..and here you were making yourself sound so unromantic before."

Junko was glad to see him smile at her, it was much preferred over his earlier apparently moping. Well..was it moping? She wasn't quite sure what it had been. Worry? Hmm! But either way he was greeting her now, giving him a wave and a smile. Even She lifted a section of hair to wave lazily toward the kelpie greeting Her. She nodded at his question about prom, grinning. "Uh huh! Very! I--what?" She blinked. What? Unromantic?
..Oh! Ohhhh! Okay. Junko blushed, scratching at her cheek and averting her eyes with a sheepish smile. "W-well, that was before! Now I...have a boilfriend and...he's taking me and stuff and...and you were so kind as to lend me those, um," She cleared her throat. "books..?" Though Junko had only been reading them..five pages at a time...
She'd finish them eventually. They were just so embarrassing!

"Ohhh. You have a boilfriend now?" He scooted his desk all the way up against hers and set his elbows upon it, then set his head in his hands, giving her a big grin. "So you did get yourself a boil. And here you were all shy and bashful. I bet he's a keeper to have eyes on you." Of course anyone who would like a pretty little thing like Junko had to have taste, and he hoped they were treating her right. He just had to find out who this little devil was that was skipping hand in hand with the ghoul. "Awww. You're smiling just thinking about himmm." Calder reached out and poked her cheek to point it out and set his hand back to hold his head up. "Now I'm going to lend you even more books. I hope you have gotten plenty ideas from them. You just have to tell me which ones are you favorites so that I can give you ones more up your specific alley." He had given her such a wide range of books after all, from gentle words to the more rough, against the wall play that he got a kick out of.

She heard the creaking and scraping of the desk and chair coming closer to her and blushed. Oh no...
A keeper? Junko smiled helplessly, giving a small nod. Oh yes. He was a keeper. But she was kind of surprised Calder hadn't noticed! It'd been so long now! Since..Scarentine's! Wow, had it really been that long? She drifted off into her own little world until Calder suddenly poked her cheek, squeaking and looking up again. Huhwhat?
"M..more...books?" Junko's eyes widened. Ideas?! No! NO! No! She was not getting ideas from those books! Oh, Jack! "You..you really don't have to do that. I, um, it's okay! Really! You've done so much for me already." Junko gave a nervous laugh. She did not want more books. No way. She was just waiting for the day she could give back the ones she had!

Riley seemed exceptionally pleased that Aislin had settled at her side. She slid one hand gently under the ghoul's arm, intent on a subtle sort of claim to the more interesting of the newer students. After all, Riley was always interested in those worth her time. The question underlying all of her actions would always be, what, exactly, made someone worthwhile.
And the answer would remain a mystery to all, until she exhaled her last breath. And beyond.
Calder's presence was happily ignored - until he started leaning in on Junko. Riley's eyes narrowed, and she listened carefully to their conversation.
Books? She butted in. What books? What has Calder been teaching you, my poor Junko?

Calder visibly twitched when Riley butted into their conversation and he felt his ears jerk back before slowly rising back up. Remember that puddle? Calm. Be a good stallion. Represent. Despite such thoughts, he felt his teeth gritting before he forced a smile. "It's rude to interrupt." He stated, not looking at Riley as he then focused back on Junko.
And like that, he continued on THEIR conversation.
"It's no problem at all. I'm happy to lead them. Have you liked the ones so far?" He was really wondering what a sweet ghoul like Junko would be into, but only out of curiosity. That and he liked talking about books, though most people didn't read the same things he did. He wondered why?

Of course Riley heard. Why wouldn't she? She was in the same room. Junko blushed even more, giving another nervous laugh as Calder snapped at Riley. How mean! But oh Jack Junko did not want to say it. Nonononono. "He, um...has been...trying to teach me romance?" Junko admittedly quietly, sinking a little in her chair. The key word was trying. Junko barely read the books he'd been giving her.
At Calder's question Junko tried to think of a nice way to say 'no', peering up at him through her bangs as her hair hung limp and lifeless again. "I don't think like is quite the word I'd use..."

"Hey Calder," She managed a smile at the boil; he had shown himself rather capable of control during the boat ride, which impressed her, really... It was nice to see that he had progressed. However, since she wasn't very close to him, the simple greeting would have to do.
"Jericho!" The next person was greeted, however, with a little more enthusiasm; she had (barely) stopped herself from calling him 'Mr', only because it was a little bit of an inside joke (for her) and she didn't want anyone to feel awkward about it. She chuckled lightly at his comment, stepping away from Xiu for just a moment to give him a quick hug, "I guess we just found a guy to do the ceiling decorations..."
What? Flying can come in handy indoors too!
"You'll get back to me?" She tilted her head at the reaper boil before nodding, not quite sure what he meant by that. The way he whispered something to Xiu almost immediately after was met with a raised eyebrow from her as she moved to stand behind Xiu again.
"Oh, you're not intruding at all, um..." She turned to stare at the newcomer; she had seen him around school, but his name escaped her. She smiled sheepishly, raising her hand and wriggling her fingers at him in a sort of wave, "Sorry, I don't think we've been properly introduced before? I'm Lizzy... It's nice to meet you... Ren?" At least, that was what Vaith had called him.
"Oh, you're no bother at all!" She waved a hand dismissively in the air at the Baku, giving her a smile accompanied by a soft giggle. Turning to look at Junko and then back at Xiu, her smile grew, "Sure! Teacher Junko and Teacher Lizzy will teach student Xiu to sew any day~" While her tone was one that was rather teasing, she was perfectly serious.
"Maybe after exams? I think we'll have lots of free time then, to teach you the basics!" She nodded before looking at Junko, trying to uh, 'save' her from Riley and Calder; she was pretty sure Jericho mentioned how those two didn't get along when they went out recently... Talking to them both would be like being stuck between a rock and a really, really hard place. Probably.

Calder pouted and looked to the side as Junko engaged Riley and bothered answering her. He had been sure that she would bug off if he made it seem like she was being rude, but when wasn't she? Junko was sweet, but sometimes being too kind to certain people was annoying. Still, he couldn't blame her for being kind to others since it seemed to be her way, and he could certainly respect that.
When she continued, he frowned when she seemed to dance around the subject. Even he could start to tell if someone wasn't showing, but he wasn't willing to give up. He just hoped to find one book that she could love. He just wondered if the soft-spoken Junko had a wild side, but that didn't seem to be the case. Maybe she needed a very, VERY soft book in terms of romance. Probably one of the boring ones where they brushed on the dirty scenes and just faded to black.
"Oh...well, I can find you more....mellow books. What parts don't you like?"
