Episode Fifteen:
It’s a Friday after school at the newly finished Student Center, and the student population is celebrating its rebuilding by holding a huge barbeque for the community. People from all over the city join to commemorate the tremendous job everyone did to repair this important place, as well as the speed and quality of it after the horrifying and unwarranted attack from the Black Knight. Bands play on the stage on the lawn and the partiers dance away, enjoying the food and company and uplifting spirit that many have not felt since the first attack all those weeks ago. Everyone is there and having a good time…everyone except for one.
Athena is at a table with her food, stirring it around with her fork with her head resting in her palm. She has had to live for a week now with neither sign nor word of Mike, and she has all but given up hope on the search.
The thought that he wasn’t in trouble, but had left her instead was becoming all the more real, though she would never truly allow that theory to take hold after that night she shared with him. Athena’s friends have noticed her depression, and they were all pitching in to cheer her up. They had taken her to movies, talked at length on the phone, even tried introducing her to other guys, but all were only at best a temporary relief from the pain.
“Hey girl,” Dallas said, sitting down next to her best friend, “how are you feeling?”
“I’m okay I guess,” Athena lied, forcing a smile.
“I know it’s hard hun, we all miss having him around. We miss seeing you smile,” Dallas said, rubbing her back comfortingly.
“I just don’t know what else to do…we’ve looked everywhere. I don’t want to believe he’s dead…but the alternative hurts just as much,” Athena admitted.
“I know hun, but you have to stay strong. I know we’ll figure out what’s going on soon enough,” Dallas said reassuringly and Athena nodded, but Dallas had a troubled look of her own on her face which Athena noticed.
“What’s the matter? You look like something’s bothering you,” Athena observed.
“It’s just…” Dallas struggled with how to break her news to Athena, knowing she was already in a sad state, “I got a letter from my parents back in San Benito. They want me to come home because they don’t think that it’s safe here in Lakeside. I’m leaving today after the party, and I didn’t want to tell you because I don’t want you to be sad.” Athena was struck by the news, and she instantly hugged her best friend with tears in her eyes.
“You can’t go! I’ll miss you too much! Can’t you persuade them to let you stay?” Athena pleaded. Dallas also was starting to cry.
“I’ll try! I’m going to try and convince them that I’m perfectly safe at my Grandparents’ house and that I need to stay, but if they don’t buy it…” Dallas looked around and whipped her eyes, making sure no one was listening, “I’ll tell them I’m a Power Ranger, and that I have to stay in order to keep the world safe.” Athena gasped and lowered he voice to a whisper like Dallas had.
“You can’t tell them! No one can know who we are, you know that,” Athena argued.
“If it comes to that then I’ll have to,” Dallas answered, “I can’t just leave you guys, we have a job to do and you need me here. Besides, if anyone knows, it might as well be my parents.” Athena didn’t like it, but she understood. Some things were more important than their secret identities.
“I hope you come back soon,” Athena said, hugging Dallas again in a tight embrace, “be safe.”
“I will,” Dallas assured her, “now you cheer up. I might be leaving and Mike may be missing, but you owe it to yourself to have a good time. Neither of us would want you to be sad when there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Athena nodded, whipping her face and smiling for the first time in a long time. Dallas waved goodbye to Athena and the other Rangers who she had previously told, heading towards the bus stop where her ride was waiting. The Rangers waved goodbye and watched as one of them rode off towards the airport. Athena was obviously the most upset, but Kyle and Kelly led her back to the party to cheer her up. The rest of the Rangers were determined to see her smile one more time.
Meanwhile, in the dimension of Camlann at Morgan le Fay’s evil fortress…
“It seems your plan has worked,” Mordred admired, “that is…so far.”
“Of course it has, unlike your plans which revolve solely around the Black Knight and your precious ‘human monsters,’ my plan has worked to perfection,” Morgan le Fay answered confidently, “the Yellow Ranger has fallen for my false letter, and her bus will be ambushed by my monster. Alone and cut off from her fellow Rangers, she will fall…and I will be one step closer to victory…” Mordred bowed and exited the chamber, leaving his queen to her plan.
“And when your foolish plan surely fails, I will have one in place to capitalize to destroy ALL of the Power Rangers at the same time…with my ‘precious Black Knight,” Mordred gloated, heading off to his own chambers to put his plan into place.
Back on earth…
Dallas stares out the window with a look of intense boredom on her face. The bus was completely abandoned except for her and the driver, making the trip unbearably lonely. She wished someone was there to see her off, but she couldn’t drag someone away from the party just so they could say goodbye one more time. The road from the city to the airport wound through a desert, a road that very few used anymore but the buses because of the lack of traffic and reliable arrival times. It has been an hour, and would be another thirty minutes until she arrived, so she decided to doze off and get a few z’s before she would have to get off and go through the hassle at the airport…or so she thought.
Abruptly, the bus came to a stop causing Dallas to nearly fall out of her highly uncomfortable seat. She stood up to see what could be causing the disturbance, maybe a pothole or a dead animal blocking the lane, but to the best of her knowledge there was nothing obstructing their path.
“Excuse me? Why did we stop?” Dallas inquired politely. The bus driver made no effort to regard her, and so Dallas stepped closer to the driver very carefully to see if he was okay, “Sir?” As soon as she peaked around the corner from the isle to see what was wrong, she was met by a stiff kick in the chest sending her tumbling down the steps and out the door to the scorching hot ground below. She hit her head on the pavement and it blurred her vision, but she found the strength to stand, if only barely. She saw the bus driver step down the stairs of the bus, and magically it seemed to disappear right before her eyes. She thought she was concussed and her mind was playing tricks on her, but when the bus driver transformed into a monster, she knew she was in trouble.
The monster took the form of a strange masked humanoid figure, half of his body was white and half was black, and the mask had no eyes nose or mouth holes to speak of, but for some reason Dallas could feel that the monster was indeed watching her. She took a step back, and the monster took a step forward. She took a step to the left as if to position herself to escape, but the monster stood still. Dallas tilted her head, confused, and tried to position herself behind the monster. For some reason, it stood there, silently, as if it didn’t know what was coming. Dallas reared back and cocked her fist back, and then tried to smash the monster in the back of its head. Miraculously, the monster was able to reach back and grab Dallas’ fist, stopping her cold. Dallas struggled to break free of the monster’s grasp, but she was completely struck. Her fears were worsened when she watched as the monster turned its head all the way around so that the masked ‘face’ was facing her. She was so surprised that she never saw the kick coming that knocked her back into the street.
“Whoah…this guy is really freaky…guess I should Ranger up,” Dallas said to herself as she pulled out her morpher, standing back up to prepare for battle.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! YELLOW KNIGHT ARISE!”
Dallas morphed into her powered up state, but the monster didn’t even flinch. He just stood there in the middle of the street with his back to the Yellow Ranger, waiting for her to attack. That’s when Dallas realized that they weren’t alone. Mordred was there, sent by Morgan le Fay to ensure that her monster got the job done.
“Impressive, is it not?” Mordred admired, “I’ve never been a supporter of these sort of monsters, I’ve always believed that humans hold more powers once mixed with demon energy. However, I have to admit that Duality here is quite the specimen. He has no blind spots, and can contort his body to defend or attack from any angle. And with nowhere to hide or surprise him in this desert, Duality will continue to fight until you are destroyed Yellow Ranger, and once you are destroyed, the rest of the Rangers will fall like dominoes.”
As if on cue, Duality flipped through the air backwards and came flying down with a kick. Dallas was able to avoid the attack, then swung around with a roundhouse kick which Duality was easily able to bend over backwards to avoid, then continue to a hand stand where he used his feet to pummel the Yellow Ranger repeatedly in the face like rapid-fire punches. Dallas staggered backwards, but wasn’t about to give up. She drew her sword and rushed back in, slashing at the contortionist but was unable to hit her mark. Duality was able to move his body in ways that shouldn’t be possible to avoid Dallas’s sword attacks, and every time Dallas lost her footing as she tried to catch her opponent, Duality would swing a leg around or an arm and knock her back. Dallas noticed something however: Duality may be striking her, but it was no more damaging than any other kick to the head. Duality didn’t have a weapon.
“Hey Mordred! How is this creep going to beat me if he can’t land a finishing blow? You brought a rubber knife to a gun fight,” Dallas smarted off, summoning her bow and taking aim at the flexible freak. Duality stood straight up and looked at the Yellow Ranger, then gestured to his belt to reveal a small red button. He then lifted his right foot and left hand to reveal small explosive devices. Dallas didn’t know what was going on, but then she took a look at her own body, and saw that every place she was struck during the fight, she had been stuck with the same tiny explosives, which were now armed and blinking, ready to blow. Dallas’ eyes widened as she tried to strip them off of herself, but it was too late. Duality pressed the button and each of the five bombs went off simultaneously. Dallas was thrown through the air from the explosion and landed hard on the sun-parched highway, demorphing instantly.
Mordred laughed sinisterly as he saw the Yellow Ranger fall, unconscious and vulnerable as Duality advanced on her with a bomb in hand, ready to place it on her unprotected face and finish her off, but out of the blue a flash of light barreled in at the two evil ones and zapped them right in the chest, sending them flying to the ground. Mordred looked up to see who would dare interfere, and what he saw was a lone motorcycle riding in from the horizon. Upon closer inspection, it was the Blue Ranger riding in with guns blazing, forcing them to disperse and leave the Yellow Ranger alone, at least for the time being. Justin rolled in and skidded to a stop in front of Dallas, making himself the human shield for her protection. Dallas was beginning to come too, and when she saw Justin’s profile on the bike standing between her and Duality and Mordred.
“Justin?” Dallas asked weakly.
“Yeah Dallas, I’m here,” Justin replied, “you got to get back up, I can’t do this by myself.” Justin reached down and offered his hand to Dallas, which she grabbed and he pulled her back to her feet as she held her head.
“Justin, watch out, the masked one is like Gumby, and if he touches you he plants a bomb,” Dallas warned.
“No problem,” Justin said, “thanks, now morph up and let’s do this.” Dallas nodded and grabbed for her morpher.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! YELLOW KNIGHT ARISE!”
Dallas morphed again and stood next to the Blue Ranger, and they both chose to take this fight up a knotch.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC, ARMOR OF THE ANCIENTS ACTIVATE!”
The two Rangers were empowered by their ancient armor and weaponry, swords drawn and shields at the ready. Mordred clutched his fist and stepped back, not wanting to engage the Rangers once again.
“Duality, I have business to attend to, destroy these Rangers and you will be greatly rewarded,” Mordred assured and Duality nodded promptly. Mordred vanished and the Rangers charged, coordinating their attacks to take the contortionist monster down. Amazingly, the monster was still avoiding the attacks, but with all of his limbs in use Duality couldn’t reach out to attack and place his deadly bombs. If he did, the Rangers were able to bring their shields around so that the sticky bombs were planted there instead. The Rangers backed off when they realized that they were wasting their energy.
“Justin, I have an idea,” Dallas spoke up, “we’ve got his bombs, maybe we can use them to blow him up!”
“Are you sure it will work?” Justin asked.
“Trust me,” Dallas assured him, “those bombs pack a punch. And anyone as flexible as this guy can’t be durable. We just need him to stand still so we can activate the button on his belt.” Justin shrugged, sighing as he knew this was going to hurt.
“I guess it’s worth a try,” Justin said as he and Dallas charged back in. Dallas lunged forward for a thrust of her blade, forcing Duality to contort himself once again to avoid the strike. This allowed Justin to slide beneath both of their legs and grab a hold, establishing a waist lock to hold Duality in place. Justin lodged his shield between himself and the monster’s back, and Dallas did the same, sandwiching Duality between the shields. The monster struggled, making it hard to hold it in place, but Dallas wasn’t going to give up and she reached her hand around to activate the bomb detonator. Both Rangers hid behind their shields and pressed into Duality as hard as they could as the bombs burst into flames, consuming the monster completely in the blast and throwing the two Power Rangers backwards to the ground. Dallas and Justin looked up, and Duality was gone, only a crater in the pavement remained.
“Well…that’s going to make a few drivers upset,” Justin said and Dallas began laughing hysterically. She laid back on the ground and just laughed as hard as she could. She couldn’t believe she made it out of that trap alive, and she was just so happy.
Back in the dimension of Camlann…
“How could my trap fail? How did the Blue Ranger know she was in trouble? Mordred! Didn’t you use the signal disruptor like I instructed?” Morgan le Fay demanded.
“Of course my queen,” Mordred assured her, “the Blue Ranger’s appearance was pure chance. There was nothing we could have done to prepare for it.”
“YOU SHOULD HAVE DESTROYED HIM! THAT WAS OUR PREPERATION!” Morgan exclaimed before turning back to his crystal ball, “it matters not, I will have my Duality monster destroy these Rangers!” The witch channeled her magical energy into the crystal ball, sending it to earth to revive her monster.
Back on earth…
The magical energy reached the remains of the monster left all over the freeway, causing them to reconvene and grow to gargantuan size. The Rangers got back to their feet as soon as they could and Dallas reached for her communicator.
“You guys! It was a trap! And now we have giant monster troubles!” Dallas exclaimed.
“We got it Dallas, we’ll be there soon,” King said. Now both groups of Rangers reached for their morphers to summon their zords simultaneously.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! ARISE THE SKYWARD KNIGHTS!”
The portal opened, and out sprung forth the five zords, ready to fight. The Rangers leaped into the cockpits and instantly hit the switch.
“ROYAL KING MEGAZORD!”
The Rangers’ zords reformed and connected, joining up to form their massive Megazord. Once in the cockpit together, the Rangers greeted Dallas, happy she was safe after surviving the trap. She was happy for the reception, but she knew they had a job to do.
“You guys, this Duality monster is tough. We’re not going to be able to take him out by ourselves. He can avoid almost anything, we need better odds,” Dallas explained and the Red Ranger nodded.
“I think I got just what the doctor ordered,” he said, reaching for his morpher once again.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! ARISE HENGROEN THE SKYWARD STALLION!”
Through the portal, the Rangers’ loyal steed leaped forward through the portal as the Red Ranger dismounted the Royal King Megazord and landed in the cockpit of Hengroen.
“Alright, let’s see what we can pull out of your bag of tricks Hengroen,” Kelly said, flipping a switch that seemed to call out to him. The power levels spiked immediately, and Hengroen began to reform in another way. Hengroen began to stand on its hind legs, fists emerging from its front hooves and the head peeling back to reveal a more humanoid helmet. The tail disconnected and landed firmly in the grasp of its new hand.
“WHOAH!” The Rangers unanimously shouted as the new Megazord took shape.
“The Skyward Stallion Megazord…awesome!” Kelly exclaimed.
Duality didn’t seem to care what was facing it, it was ready to contort itself and destroy its enemies. In the meantime, Mordred had already transported himself back to earth to a mountain top to oversee the battle. He raised his lance and pointed it at Duality, charging it with a new magical energy. Duality felt a rush of energy fill him, and instantly it rushed forward to grab hold of the new Skyward Stallion Megazord.
“Kelly! Don’t let him touch you!” Dallas warned, but it was too late. Duality had grabbed hold, and it seemed to be sucking the energy directly out of the Skyward Stallion Megazord. Kelly couldn’t break free, but as far as damage, the monster didn’t seem to be doing any. The other Rangers came in to make the save, charging their sword with their reserve energy for a finishing blow. The Royal King Megazord slashed down and cut Duality’s arms right off, severing the swollen limbs and forcing the monster to back off. The arms vanished mysteriously, and the Duality monster seemed as confused as the Rangers.
“That’s enough out of you, it’s my turn creep,” King declared as he charged his sword a well. He took the reins from around his neck, attaching the long chain to the hilt of the sword. He used this to swing the blade at an incredibly fast speed, forming a blurring blade that he swung at Duality, hitting its mark and cutting him right down the middle. Duality was so shocked, he didn’t realize he was dead. The monster exploded, and the Rangers were victorious once again.
Back in the dimension of Camlann…
Mordred is in the forest, standing next to the Black Knight who seemed impatient.
“Why are we here…why was I not sent to destroy the Rangers?” The Black Knight inquired.
“Patience my Black Knight, your time will come. You see, even as Mordred le Fay sends her pitiful monsters and single-handedly destroys her army by sending them against the Rangers, she does do one thing that assists us. Observe,” Mordred explained as he sent the dismembered arms of the Duality monster into the sky, charging them with his own magical energy. The arms began to chance, and eventually took the form of Hengroen, the Skyward Stallion. However this time he was painted black, demonic red eyes glowed in the dark sky, “behold, the Black Stallion. He will combine with your Lunar Knight Megazord…and make you unstoppable.”
The Black Knight approached his new weapon, grinning beneath his mask as he held his hand to its leg.
“The Rangers are finished…”
Back on earth…
The Rangers met back up at the Student Center, including Dallas. She was happy everyone came out of the encounter alive, and she wanted to thank her friends for saving her.
“You guys, I can’t tell you how happy I am to have friends like you. You’re all so amazing, and I wanted to thank you,” Dallas said gratefully.
“Hey, it’s no problem Dallas. You’d do the same for us,” Justin said and she nodded.
“There’s one thing that’s bothering me though,” Dallas began, “how did you know that it was a trap and that I was being attacked?” Justin looked away, rubbing his neck.
“I didn’t…I was actually on my way to the airport to say goodbye by myself. I came across you being attacked and I morphed so I could save you,” Justin admitted. He blushed, as did Dallas, and the Rangers took it as their cue to leave them alone. Kelly Kyle and Athena left quietly, leaving the Yellow and Blue Rangers alone. Dallas approached Justin and couldn’t help but smile.
“Justin…that was really sweet,” she said.
“Yeah…well…you mean a lot to me,” Justin replied. With that, Dallas leaned up and kissed Justin on the lips. Justin was surprised, but he definitely wasn’t fighting it. It lasted for a long moment, and when Dallas broke the kiss she couldn’t help but smile.
“You mean a lot to me too,” she said, waving goodbye as she took her bags and headed back to her Grandparent’s house. Justin was left standing there, touching his lips and wondering if that really happened.

Episode Sixteen:
We rejoin the story in the dimension of Camlann as Mordred and Morgan le Fay come to terms with their latest failed attempt to destroy the Power Rangers. Mordred was frustrated with her lack of faith in him, but even more troubling was her seemingly calm demeanor towards the situation.
“Your plan has failed, my queen. The Rangers live, despite Duality’s best efforts,” Mordred observed.
“Fear not Mordred, for I always have a plan,” Morgan le Fay replied as she worked with a cauldron, bubbling with magical ingredients. Mordred was more than curious, and he tried to peak over to see what it could be.
“What is that my queen?” Mordred inquired.
“This? This is what will make those Power Rangers self-destruct…” Morgan said sinisterly as she scooped some of the potion into a tiny capsule, sealing it like a pill and admiring it in the light.
A few days later on earth, the Man in Black has had the time to circulate this new pill around the city, and it has become a brand new craze among the young people. It was called ‘Green Mist’ because of its color and the way it made your mind go into a euphoric haze, and in only a week almost 10% of the student body at Lakeside High was using it. It was becoming a major concern, and the parents were rallying to get this new drug off the streets and out of the schools. Nothing, however, seemed to be working.
The Rangers were sitting at the table where they usually congregated on the weekends at the Student Center, and each of them was getting tired of hearing everyone talk about ‘Green Mist’ and how great it was or how curious they were to try it. In a week’s time, no one was interested in hearing what they had to say no matter how the Rangers tried to warn their fellow students.
“This I ridiculous,” Dallas said, “how did this whole thing start?”
“I have no clue,” Dallas’ new boyfriend Justin replied, “It’s like it just came out of nowhere.”
“Yeah well I don’t like it,” Kelly spoke up, “I don’t think this just came out of nowhere. I think this came from somewhere more familiar than everyone thinks.”
“You think Morgan le Fay invented this?” Athena inquired, “Why would she do that? As far as we know it has no negative side-effects aside from making you lazy and high out of your mind. Why would she put this out if it couldn’t hurt us?”
“I don’t know, but I plan on finding out,” Kelly said resolutely.
The Rangers’ time to themselves was short lived, as they were soon interrupted by Brantley Summers and the rest of the Midnight Marauders. The Rangers stood, expecting some sort of confrontation, but Summers laughed and waved the notion off.
“You guys look like you’re looking for a fight,” Summers began, “we sure aren’t. All we want…is to collect on the debt you owe us. Specifically from you, Justin.”
“Yeah? And what could I possibly have that you want?” Justin retorted.
“Actually, it’s not a what…it’s a who,” Brantley said cryptically, “we want to have a word with Kyle.” The Rangers looked amongst themselves, confused.
“What do you want with me?” Kyle asked.
“Only to chat, we have an offer for you,” Summers explained innocently.
“If it’s about joining your stupid biker thugs, you can forget it. I’m not interested,” Kyle said.
“Not at all, we are on what you might call a…hiring freeze. Come with us, and we can get this all sorted out in no time at all,” Summers explained. Kyle looked to his friends and they gave them looks of confidence as if to say they would be there if things got hot. Kyle stepped forward and left with the Midnight Marauders, heading to another hidden base of operations for the gang which turned out to be another abandoned warehouse. When they were there, the Marauders forced Kyle off the bike and surrounded him, leaving him no room for escape. Summers dismounted his bike, approaching him face to face.
“Let’s get this over with,” Kyle said sternly, “what is it you want from me?” Brantley smiled and wiggled his eyebrows, thoroughly enjoying this situation. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a bottle, tossing it to Kyle who caught it and looked at it strangely.
“That’s it,” Summers said simply, “take a pill, and our business with you and your friends is over.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me, I’m not taking this garbage,” Kyle said disdainfully.
“Yeah, you are, or we’ll be taking the price of our services out on you and your friends,” Summers explained.
“Are you threatening me?” Kyle said seriously, going nose to nose with Summers, who stayed as calm as ever.
“Yes.” Summers answered sternly, “look around you Kyle. You think you and your friends are safe 24/7? You think you can just abuse our kindness and just walk away without repaying the favor? I don’t think so. This is how things are going to go down: either you take that pill in front of God and everyone, or we put you and your friends in the hospital, making damn sure you never walk again. Comprende?”
Kyle was furious that he was being threatened by this little punk, but what made it worse that he couldn’t do anything about it. The only way they could defend themselves is if they morphed, and that would ruin their secret identities. Kyle weighed the options, and he decided that risking the safety of his friends wasn’t worth his sobriety. He opened the bottle and took a pill out, eyeing it in his hand. He then shifted his gaze to Brantley who wore a smile so large it should be criminal.
“I’ll get you for this,” Kyle swore before popping the pill. Summers waited for him to see Kyle swallow before backing off, gesturing for his crew to get moving and leave Dracious to find his own way home, “wait, don’t you want the rest of the pills?” Kyle asked.
“Nah, you keep ‘em, consider it a gift basket for being so cooperative,” Brantley said and he laughed as he rode off with his gang. Kyle was confused, but he was happy this whole mess was over with. All he had to do now was get home to his friends to help him with the side effects of the drugs. Kyle stepped out the door and began the long walk home.
But he never made it back…
Kyle spent his whole day and night wandering the streets as high as a kite, drifting from place to place and causing damage everywhere he went. Kicking in windows, knocking over garbage dumpsters, destroying gardens, it didn’t matter to him. Kyle was focused on doing what he wanted, and that was it.
The next morning, Kyle was strung out. He wore shades and an old ragged hoody, one he didn’t know how he obtained but probably stole from some poor guy on the streets last night. He felt terrible, but what happened next wasn’t about to help. The Rangers walked in, each of them worried sick since he disappeared the day before.
“Where have you been?” Athena asked in deep concern, trying to get a look at his eyes, but he kept moving away.
“Nothing…” the only thing Kyle could muster.
“That doesn’t make sense,” Justin said.
“SHUT UP!” Kyle shouted, stunning them all. There was a long silence, and Dallas reached out to his shoulder to calm him down, but he pulled away which slid his hoody off and knocked away his sunglasses, revealing Kyle’s incredibly bloodshot eyes. Kelly grew angry, grabbing his collar and forcing him to look him in the eye.
“You’re on the Green Mist,” Kelly said, releasing his grip but not before Kyle smacks his hands away.
“Yeah? What of it?” Kyle spat back.
“What of it? You’re BETTER THAN THAT!” King shouted.
“WELL I GUESS YOU WERE WRONG ABOUT ME!” Kyle screamed right back as the place went silent. The entire Student Center was looking at Kyle now, “You know, I only did it because if I did, Summers promised to leave you all alone…but now? Now I’m just going to do it for fun…” Kyle said as he stood up from his seat, shoving his friends away and walking right out the door. The Rangers felt terrible for upsetting him like this without getting the whole story first, and they knew they had screwed up. Kelly ran through the door and tried to catch up with Kyle, but by the time he was outside, Kyle was gone.
Kyle had used his powers to teleport to the woods where he knew he could be alone, opening the bottle to pop yet another pill. His eyes turned from a bloodshot red, to a peculiar shade of green as his frown turned to a smile and the high hit him right away.
“It seems you appreciate my little concoction,” a voice called out from the distance, causing Kyle to whip around and fall to his a**, trying to locate the source of the voice. From the trees, the Man in Black stepped out.
“Who are you?” Kyle asked, slightly afraid.
“I? You may call me…the Man in Black…” he revealed, giving a sense of urgency to Kyle’s situation.
“You…You’re the guy behind the Black Knight…You know he turned on you right? He’s working for Mordred now,” Kyle said defiantly.
“What the Black Knight does with his powers is his choice and his choice alone, I simply gave him the powers he desired to destroy the Power Rangers…to destroy you, Green Ranger,” the Man in Black explained, “and now, I’m willing to provide a similar offer to you. You like my little drug right? It makes you feel good…Well, I’d be more than willing to offer you a limitless supply of my Green Mist…if you only do one tiny thing for me: Show your Ranger friends that they can’t boss you around…show them the power of the Green Knight.” Kyle listened to the Man in Black’s offer, thinking it over carefully. He definitely liked the high he got from the Green Mist, and he was pretty upset with his friends for getting on his back when he was only trying to help. All of that mixed together with the debilitating mental effects of the drug he had just taken a fresh dose of, and that was all Kyle needed to agree to his crazy terms.
“Endless supply of Green Mist? Whenever I want it? And all I got to do is smack my friends around? Hell, you got a deal,” Kyle shook the Man in Black’s hand, but it wasn’t over there. The Man in Black charged his magical energy into Kyle, bringing him to his knees as he tried to escape the grasp. Soon enough, Kyle’s resistance faded, and the Man in Black ceased his spell. Kyle looked up, his eyes glowing a deep green and a smile on his face.
“Now…go and attack the Rangers, my Green Knight,” the Man in Black ordered.
“Yes…Master…” Kyle replied.
“BY THE POWER OF BLACK MAGIC! GREEN KNIGHT ARISE!”
Kyle morphed into his Ranger form, but this time instead of a familiar white glow, an aura of darkness surrounded him as the black magic filled him. Once the transformation was complete, he teleported back to the Student Center so he could face his former friends head on.
Meanwhile, the rest of the Rangers were in the parking lot, using their cell phones to try and call and text Kyle and find out where he went. There was no response, but it didn’t seem to matter as seconds later, a fully morphed flail-wielding Green Ranger showed up in the parking lot. The Rangers put their phones away and ran up to greet him and apologize.
“Dude! What happened, why are you all morphed? Did you get attacked?” King asked. Kyle didn’t respond at first, but he did draw his sword, pointing it directly into the throat of Kelly. The Red Ranger held his hands up, backing up, but the other Rangers were outraged.
“Kyle! What are you doing? We’re your friends!” Athena pleaded.
The rest of the students in the Student Center saw what was going on outside and decided to evacuate. The place was already torn down from an evil Ranger, they didn’t want to be in it when it happened again. The Rangers were left alone with a renegade Ranger, and no one had any idea what was going on.
“Kyle, you need to stop this, we just want to talk,” Kelly said, trying to calm his friend down.
“That’s all Summers wanted…that’s all the Man in Black wanted…it seems talking can do more damage than you think, now can’t it?” Kyle said in a sinister tone. He swung his weapon high above his head, ready to strike, but his friends weren’t going to back down.
“Kyle, you don’t want to do…wait…the Man in Black? He did this?” Kelly was beginning to put the pieces together, but before he could finish his thought, Kyle smashed the pavement with his flail, throwing the Rangers several yards away. The Rangers began to stand, and they were just about done trying to reason with him.
“Okay bro,” Justin said, dusting himself off, “I’m sorry to say it, but I’m going to enjoy knocking some sense into you.”
“Justin, be careful, it’s still Kyle in there. He’s just under some sort of spell, like the Black Knight,” Dallas explained and Justin nodded.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! BLUE KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! PINK KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! YELLOW KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! RED KNIGHT ARISE!”
The Rangers morphed and they squared off with the Green Ranger, swords drawn but unwilling to hurt him. Kyle was still swinging his weapon above his head, keeping the Rangers at a distance and letting them know he could strike any of them at any time. Justin charged in, intent on smashing the back of Kyle’s head so hard he snaps out of the spell. Kyle saw it coming, and lowered his swing so that the chain of his weapon would wrap around Justin’s body. He turned the Blue Ranger into a top, pulling on the chain and spinning Justin into Dallas, who was charging in to follow up. Both of them fell over, but Athena jumped over them and used her whip to try and grab hold of Kyle’s weapon. She did, but it was so heavy and Kyle was so strong that he was able to use it to his advantage and pull Athena in, only to clothesline her as she flew forward and turning her inside out. King was beyond furious and he pulled out his big weapon: Excalibur. The Red Ranger swung his blade with all his might at the ground, throwing rocks and bits of pavement up at Kyle’s face. Kelly used this moment of distraction to close the distance and use the butt of his sword to smash Kyle in the face, knocking him down. Kelly followed up, raising his sword high and slashing into the very pavement, bringing the blade all the way down to the hilt to where it was holding Kyle to the ground by his neck.
“KYLE! THIS NEEDS TO STOP!” Kelly shouted at his trapped friend, “You’re under a spell! You have to listen to me!”
Kyle chose not to heed Kelly’s words, and kicked up at the Red Ranger, knocking him to the ground holding his chest, trying to get his wind back. Kyle was able to roll out from under the sword which was trapping him and looked down at the Rangers who he had defeated so soundly. He decided it was time to put an exclamation point on this, and that was by reaching over to Excalibur and pulling it out of the ground. Kyle approached King, who was on the ground and helpless to defend himself. He raised it directly over his friend’s head, ready to drop it like a nail into the coffin…but something stopped him. Excalibur’s energy began channeling into Kyle’s hand, surging through his body. Kyle screamed as the conflicting energy filled him, forcing him to drop the legendary sword and collapse to his hands and knees. He held his head as the white magic purified him of the demon magic, as well as the effects of the drug. Kyle demorphed and his head began to clear, staggering to his feet as his friends came in to support him. The rest of them powered down, trying to see if Kyle was okay.
“W~what happened?” Kyle asked.
“You were under a spell from the Man in Black. He must have done the same thing to you that he did to the Black Knight,” Kelly explained.
“The Man in Black? Oh man…that’s right,” Kyle began to remember, “The Man in Black ambushed me in the woods…he offered me an unlimited supply of Green Mist if I agreed to rough you up. I shook his hand because I was so angry and messed up, but then he did something to me…he messed with my head, and then all I could think about was destroying you. I’m so sorry, I didn’t hurt anyone did it?”
“No, you didn’t,” Dallas said, “we’re just glad we were able to bring you back because something really bad happened.”
“Definitely,” Justin added, “but hey, this is good news. If Excalibur can bring Kyle back from the Man in Black’s influence, maybe it can do the same for the Black Knight!”
“You think it would work? I mean he’s been under his control for so long. What if we can’t bring him back?” Athena questioned.
“We can only hope. I don’t think we’re going to be rid of him unless we either break the spell…or kill him,” Kelly explained grimly.
Back in the dimension of Camlann…
“So close, my queen…we were so close to defeating the Rangers with one of their own,” Mordred observed.
“Do not worry my pet,” Morgan le Fay calmed her servant, “All is going according to plan…We have the human bikers solidly doing our bidding, a wave of new drug addicted teens who we’ve proven will do anything for another hit, and an army of monsters just waiting to be unleashed on the public. Yes…Lakeside, and soon the world…will be all mine to control…”

Episode Seventeen:
Athena sat at home in her bed, dressed in her PJs after the day’s events involving Kyle, the Man in Black, the Midnight Marauders and the Green Mist. It seemed Morgan le Fay and the Man in Black were stepping up their efforts, but no one could tell what their ultimate goal could be. It reminded her of the chess piece monsters they fought earlier, the thought of a decisive blow being set up dozens of moves in advance involving sacrificing piece after piece to gain the position you need to gain victory. The thought made Athena shudder, because with all that Morgan le Fay has sacrificed she must believe that her finishing blow will be worth every single bit of it and more.
Athena tried to dispel the thought from her mind and lay down in her bed so that she might get some much needed rest. Like every night, her thoughts were of Michael, and if she would ever see him again.
Meanwhile, in the dimension of Camlann…
Morgan le Fay looks through her crystal ball at the sleeping Pink Ranger, a devious smile creeping across her evil face.
“My my my…It seems our little Pink Ranger is troubled…Do you think we’ve gone too far my prince?” Morgan addressed Mordred.
“Not at all my queen,” Mordred replied, “I believe we should pay her a visit tonight.”
“As do I Mordred,” Morgan le Fay agreed as she searched her spell books for the one which she desired. She drew her finger across the page, reading and instantly memorizing it before returning to her crystal ball. The lights dimmed as Morgan channeled her powers into the crystal ball, her eyes rolling back in her head, “Spirits and demons hear my cries…as the Pink Ranger in bed she lies…give her nightmares of horrors comprised…until the poor Pink Ranger DIES!” Morgan le Fay cackled as the spell activated, demons and shadows swooping from everywhere and channeling into the crystal ball, transporting them to earth.
Back on earth…
The demons from the spell make their way into Athena’s room, swirling around her menacingly until they penetrate her mind all at once, taking over her dreams and turning it into a horrible nightmare.
Within the dream, Athena was once again laying on the grass with Michael, perched upon the ridge that overlooked the city as she held him tightly in her arms. It was so peaceful, and Athena was filled with happiness.
“I had a terrible dream,” Athena spoke, breaking the silence, “I dreamt that you had left, and no one knew where you were. I was so scared and alone, but then I woke up…and now I’m here with you.” Athena hugged Landry tight, and he could only laugh.
“You know I’d never leave you Athena,” Michael said reassuringly, “I’m here till the end, you can count on that.”
At that moment, the demons came into view, and Athena became frightened. She held on tighter to Landry as she tried to figure out what was going on.
“Mike! What’s happening!” She said as she watched one of the shadowy demons swoop in barrel right towards the couple. It entered the body of Landry and he froze for a moment. Landry stood up, pushing Athena off of him and down to the floor. She watched in horror as the man she loved transformed into the Black Knight. Athena scrambled away, rubbing her eyes as she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
“Now…Pink Ranger…” The Black Knight spoke menacingly, “Your time has come…”
“It was you?” Athena said in utter disbelief, “No…No I don’t believe it! It can’t be you! IT CAN’T!” Athena screamed, but the Nightmare Black Knight made no attempt to hide his identity.
“It has always been me…from day one…our entire relationship was so I could get you alone…all to myself…for your friends to trust me…so I could destroy you, and then do the very same thing to each and every one of them…” The Black Night explained. Athena shook her head as tears rolled down her face.
“NO! I gave you my heart! How could you do this to me!?” Athena asked in desperation.
“Oh…I’m aware…” The nightmare of the Black Knight held out his palm, and in it materialized the representation of Athena’s heart which she offered him before, “I must admit, even I didn’t expect you to fall for me so quickly…so completely…” He gloated as he waved his hand, as chains darkness wrapped around Athena’s arms, legs, chest and neck. She was completely bound, unable to move a single muscle, though not for a lack of trying. The Black Knight waved his hand once again, and similar chains wrapped around the symbolic heart of Athena, hanging it from a tree before him. Athena was distraught, she couldn’t believe she had fallen for the trap, and now the only emotions she felt were pure anger…and sadness.
“I won’t let you get away with this,” Athena spat defiantly, “you hear me? My friends will come for me!” To that, the Black Knight only laughed.
“No one will come for you. This is a place that only you and I can reside in. And soon…it will only be me,” the Black Knight said as he gently raised his halberd’s pointed side into Athena’s heart, causing her to cry out in pain. He withdrew the weapon, then turned to Athena, “how does it feel…to have your heart ripped from your chest, and tortured before your eyes?”
“How…how are you doing this? Why does it hurt me so badly?” Athena demanded to know.
“This disembodied heart is still connected to you through your spirit, and though it no longer resides in your body, every time I stab your weak heart, you will feel every agonizing bit of pain,” the Black Knight explained, “However, I cannot kill you in this realm. Here, in the land of dreams…only your surrender to this pain and despair with cause your body to die…and I intend on making that happen. You are my prisoner, and soon…you will be my victim.”
Once again, he jabbed his weapon into the disembodied, trapped heart of Athena, causing her gut to wrench and cry out in horrifying pain. She wanted to grip the source of the pain, but her body was completely restricted by the shadowy chains. All she could do was sit there, suspended and helpless as the Black Knight twisted and jabbed his blade into her heart. He would pull out, pause as Athena would feel the relief and remember what it was like to not feel so much pain, then at that moment he would plunge back in, twisting and contorting his blade to bring about a newer, more intense pain. Each thrust into the heart was more devastating than the last, each lasted longer, each went deeper, and each brought Athena closer and closer to the brink of surrender.
It seemed to last for hours, until finally the Black Knight pulled out and approached Athena.
“So…Pink Ranger…Do you surrender? Do you want the pain to stop? Just say those words, and I will take away all of your pain…” the Black Knight promised. Athena could barely raise her head to respond, but she looked into the Black Knight’s eyes, still filled with defiance.
“Why…” she asked weakly, “why are you doing this?”
“You lack the capacity to achieve your goals,” the Black Knight said coldly, “and those who are too weak and still hold great power…are a danger to themselves and others. Those who are weak and possess great powers…must be destroyed.”
“No,” Athena replied quickly, “why all of this? Why did you do this to me? Why did you make me fall in love with you?” Athena asked as tears soaked her face.
“You misunderstand,” the Black Knight replied, “I am simply the representation of your mind. I prey on your fears, your doubts, your deepest darkest recesses of your mind. I represent everything dark inside of you, and this…me ripping your heart out and destroying it right before your very eyes, is what you hold in the pit of that darkness. I am that which you cannot shake, that which you fear too much to fight back against, and that makes me your fatal weakness.”
Athena was taken aback by the Black Knight’s explanation, and that’s when she realized that this WAS just a dream. And if it was a dream, she could take back control. Athena closed her eyes, trying to concentrate and find a way to break these shadowy chains. The Black Knight resumed his stabbing of the trapped heart, sending electric bolts of unyielding pain through Athena’s body. With every stab, Athena shouted out in agony, but she tried not to break her focus. She clutched her eyes shut, trying to block out the torturous pain of the Black Knight’s slow and methodical attacks. She would never give up, and soon a light began to shine from deep within her, weakening the chains that held her body locked.
The Black Knight noticed this, and he began swinging more violently at the heart in an attempt to break her concentration, and indeed more and more agony was piled on quicker and quicker. Athena screamed at the top of her lungs, spit flying from her mouth as she continued her efforts. She couldn’t give up hope, no matter how many deaths she’d have to endure. She continued to fight, and with that fight rising up inside of her, so too did the light inside of her. The Black Knight reared back for one devastating blow, but when he brought his blade down he found that his attack was deflected by a strange force. The Black Knight was confused, but tried again and this time his halberd was shattered to pieces from the power of the light protecting Athena’s heart. Athena broke free from her shadowy chains, banishing the darkness that surrounded her. The Black Knight grimaced in pain as his hands burned from merely touching the dark weapon, and he threw it aside. He looked up at Athena, astonished that she was able to break free.
“How…How are you doing this?!” the Black Knight demanded.
“It’s like you said,” Athena replied, “this is my dream, and my will determines what happens here. I just had to convince myself that you are not to be feared. You are not the worst thing that can happen to me. You…are…insignificant!”
A burst of light knocked the Black Knight to his back, and Athena instantly transformed into her Ranger form, only instead of her normally pink attire, she was clad in pure white armor. She felt a new power she had never felt surge through her, and suddenly all the pain which had accumulated over hours of torture flowed away, and was replaced by a feeling of peace and serenity. The Black Knight was frightened, backing away from the new and more powerful Pink Ranger, but there was nowhere to go. Walls of light kept blocking his path, and soon it was he who was trapped. Beams of light shot out from the trees and plants and ground, locking the Black Knight into place the same way Athena was only moments ago. The Black Knight struggled against his bonds, but now he too could not move a single muscle. Athena drew her sword, pressing it up against the Black Knight’s neck, and she knew she had won.
“Now, this nightmare is over,” Athena said with an authoritative tone, and she swung her sword. The Black Knight was cut down and instantly vanished. The darkness was gone, and where the Black Knight once was, Michael laid there limp. Athena was hesitant to trust this new vision, but she was sure that her dream was back under her control. This was merely a plot to destroy her, she thought, and she knew she could now trust Landry. She kneeled down, demorphed, and cradled him in her arms. She refused to believe that Mike could be the Black Knight, it was just a vision implanted by Morgan le Fay to bring her down.
Back in the real world, in the dimension of Camlann…
“No…my spell was thwarted! How could that be!?” Morgan le Fay cursed her bad luck as she watched the shadows be expelled from Athena’s body and into the night, “I won’t let this happen…this isn’t over!” Morgan le Fay channeled her magic into the crystal ball, capturing one of the shadowy spirits in her magic. The shadow transformed into a physical form, a feral creature with beady red eyes, long fangs and massive claws. The monster began to grow to its giant size, and the thud of its landing awoke most of the city, including Athena.
Athena stumbled from the bed, reaching for her morpher so she could communicate with the Rangers.
“You guys,” she said as she activated the voice transmitter, “Morgan le Fay just attacked me in my dreams, and now one of the monsters is attacking the city. We have to morph and meet up in the city! Let’s go!” The rest of the Rangers rose from their slumber and shook off their tired eyes, grabbing for their morphers and instantly leapt into action.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! GREEN KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! PINK KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! BLUE KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! YELLOW KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! RED KNIGHT ARISE!”
The Rangers morphed and teleported from their homes and into the city. Once there, they called upon their zords to help them with their giant problem.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! ARISE THE SKYWARD KNIGHTS AND STALLION!”
From the portal shot forth the five Ranger’s zords as well as Hengroen, their loyal support zord. The Rangers set themselves to jump into their cockpits, but Kelly grabbed hold of Athena before she could go.
“Hey, this guy attacked you in your dream? I say you be his worst nightmare. Jump inside of Hengroen, and take this guy down,”
Kelly said encouragingly. Athena nodded with a big smile, leaping up into Hengroen instead of her regular zord, “now flip the switch to the left of the joystick,” Kelly instructed and Athena did just that, flipping the switch and causing Hengroen to stand straight up and transform into the Skyward Stallion Megazord. The rest of the Rangers flipped their switches, and their respective zords combined together to form the Royal King Megazord.
“I’m not done with you just yet, Shadow!” Athena declared, pointing her blade at the shadow monster who was now second guessing just how strong he was. Nevertheless, the Shadow rushed forward to sink his claws into the Megazords. The Royal King Megazord stepped up and intercepted the Shadow, slashing with its sword powered up and glowing with energy. The sword’s impact stopped the Shadow cold, but he wasn’t quite ready to go down. Athena stepped up with the Skyward Stallion Megazord, swinging the sword attached to the chain above her head rapidly. She lashed out with it, and the blade and chain wrapped around the monster several times over. The Shadow struggled to break the chains, but it was completely trapped.
“No one messes with my dreams,” Athena said angrily before pulling back harshly on the chain. The sword retracted as it followed the chain around the Shadow’s body, peeling him like a potato and tearing it to shreds. The monster, in all its pieces, fell to the ground and exploded violently. The Shadow was finally destroyed, and Athena breathed a sigh of relief for the first time that evening.
Meanwhile, in the dimension of Camlann…
“NO! No no no no! How could she escape! She was supposed to be more afraid of the shadows than anything! How could this be!?” Morgan le Fay demanded. Mordred didn’t try to answer, instead he stepped out of the chamber to leave his queen to her dismay.
“Foolish witch…no childish dream could possibly defeat the Rangers. Only a Living Nightmare like my Black Knight could possibly destroy them. One day, he will wipe them from the face of the planet, and then with their stolen powers…he will put you out of my misery,” Mordred swore as he clenched his fist, retiring to his chambers.
Back on earth…
The Rangers met up in the wee hours of the morning, powered down in front of Athena’s house. They were all concerned over the nature of the attack earlier and wanted to make sure she was okay.
“So how did this happen?” King asked.
“It was so weird…I was having a wonderful dream. I was sitting with Michael again, and it was like he never left. All of the sudden, these monsters swooped in and one flew inside of him. He turned into the Black Knight, and the tied me up and stabbed my heart over and over again. I never felt pain so incredibly bad like that, and it seemed to last forever. He said that if I lost the will to fight, that I’d die, and so I kept fighting, kept struggling. Eventually, I gained the power to break free, and I turned the tables on the fake Black Knight. It gave me a power…I’ve NEVER felt before. I felt like I was the essence of power, and it allowed me to defeat the Shadow. Morgan le Fay must have gave it a physical form to try and destroy us,” Athena explained.
“All that matters is you’re okay,” Dallas said, hugging her best friend who hugged her back tightly. At that moment, the door to Athena’s home opened up and out came her father.
“Athena! What are you doing out here? There’s a monster attack! Get inside!” her father shouted. Athena turned around and waved to him reassuringly.
“It’s okay Daddy! The Power Rangers defeated the monster. We’re just meeting here to make sure everyone was alright,” Athena said with a smile and her father smiled back.
“Well alright, don’t stay out there too late. You have school in the morning!” her father said as he went back inside. Athena turned back to her friends and gave them all one last hug before waving goodbye. The Rangers all walked home and Athena went back into her house, up to her room and laid back in bed.
“Best friends ever…” Athena said to herself before drifting back off to sleep.

Episode Eighteen: ((Last episode before the Finale))
We rejoin the Power Rangers embroiled in yet another battle against the Fallen. All week they had been running themselves ragged responding to the Lady of the Lake informing them of yet another horde of Fallen attacking the city at seemingly random locations all around the city of Lakeside. Every time they would dispatch another group of the evil minions, another one would pop up clear across town. They were never a threat to the Ranger’s safety, but the repeated attacks one after another was wearing on them after a while. After Kelly dispatched of the last one of them, the Rangers looked around to see if there were any left, and waited to hear from the Lady of the Lake if there was another attack. When nothing happened, they let down their guard and let their muscles relax, each letting out a sigh of relief.
“How many was that today?” Kyle asked.
“Seven, which makes it the forty-ninth this week,” said Kelly in an exhausted tone.
“What the hell is going on?” Dallas asked, “we haven’t had to fight the Fallen in weeks, and now all of the sudden, it’s the only thing we see!”
“Honestly, I miss the monsters,” Justin added.
“Yeah, at least with them you knew when the fight was over,” Athena agreed.
“We have to figure out what’s going on,” Kelly said, frustrated, “Morgan le Fay doesn’t do something without a plan in place.”
The rest of the Rangers agreed, and they teleported to the castle beneath the lake to get some answers. The Lady of the Lake seemed to be curious, same as the Rangers and she was looking for the same answers in a mystical pool of water which was detailing the significant actions of each battle.
“Lady of the Lake,” Kelly called out, “please tell us you know what Morgan le Fay’s plan is. We’re stumped.”
“Unfortunately my Rangers, I am as lost as you are in this matter,” the Lady replied, “the attacks are completely random, and with seemingly no intent other than to cause some minor discord.”
“That isn’t like Morgan,” Athena said, “she always has some bigger picture in mind.”
“Yeah, I don’t peg her as the sort of person to just throw wave after wave of her army at us knowing she’s going to lose,” Dallas agreed.
“Maybe this is the plan. Maybe she’s just trying to tire us out before one big final attack,” Kyle pointed out.
“Well if it is her plan, it’s working because I’m exhausted,” Justin said.
At that moment, the pool of mystic water changed from a layout of the previous week’s battles into a dark mass. It was as black as night, and the Rangers backed the Lady of the Lake away in case it turned dangerous. The black pool turned into a face, and in it transformed into that of the Black Knight’s. The Rangers gasped in surprise, no one able to figure out what was going on.
“Greetings Rangers…” the Black Knight spoke.
“How are you doing this?” Kelly demanded to know.
“I have been searching for weeks to discover this particular magical frequency. With my powers granted to me by the Man in Black, it was quite simple,” the Black Knight explained, “but enough about that…I seek an audience with you…Red Ranger.” Kelly looked around, wondering what he could possibly want with him.
“What’s this about?” Kelly inquired.
“It is our destiny to fight, of that I am sure. Our fathers clashed in the ancient past, and now it is our time to renew the rivalry, but there is one problem. Every time we meet, your little Ranger friends get in the way. And so, I have set up an insurance policy,” the Black Knight explained as the image turned from his face to the visions of bombs scattered all throughout the city. Many of them in close proximity to civilians tied up and helpless, “if I so much as see a single color other than Red, or if my Fallen associates see you coming to save these people, we will flip the switch, and they will burn, the city will crumble, and you will be the only ones to blame.”
“You b*****d!” Kelly shouted as his rage mounted. His face was red and fist clenched, he was ready to tear the Black Knight’s head off right then and there.
“Calm thyself Red Ranger,” the Black Knight said with an arrogant tone, “if you choose to follow my orders and do as I say, then no one will be harmed. The Fallen are instructed not to touch a single hair on their heads, and to release them at my command. Once our battle is over, I will instruct them to untie my hostages and they will go free, as well as the bombs be disarmed.”
“And what if I win? How are they supposed to follow your orders if I cut your damn head off?” King barked.
“There is a spell in place,” the Black Knight instructed, “in the unlikely event of my demise, a pre-recorded message will appear in front of the Fallen and instruct them to let them go. All I wish is to fight you Red Ranger. Only one person has to die today. Don’t make it thousands.”
The image of the Black Knight disappeared, and was replaced by a map, detailing the location of the Black Knight. It was clearly an instruction for Kelly to meet him there, but he still didn’t know if it was the right thing to do.
“Kelly…” Athena said softly.
“I have to go,” he said before anyone could try and talk him out of it.
“Kelly no, it has to be a trap,” Dallas argued.
“He’s never lied to us before, why start now? He’s a straight forward guy, he won’t screw us,” Kelly explained.
“He’s also desperate. Every time he thinks he has the edge up on us, something happens that forces him to retreat. He won’t be above using that insurance policy should things turn south. He’ll use every trick in the book, and he won’t stop until one of you is dead,” Kyle tried to reason with their leader.
“No, that isn’t his style. He’ll keep his word, I know it,” Kelly said. He grabbed is morpher, preparing to morph and teleport to the location, but Athena grabbed his arm and looked into his eyes, as if to silently beg him one last time to stay. When his look told her that his mind was made up, she let go.
“Please be safe…” Athena said before backing away, and Kelly nodded in response.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! RED KNIGHT ARISE!”
The Red Ranger transformed and instantly teleported to the location he was given in the Black Knight’s instructions. He was taken to the center of the city, right in front of City Hall where the initial invasion took place. The Black Knight had been busy, as he found himself surrounded by black pillars jutting up from the ground, their origin and purpose unknown but surely was sinister. Kelly looked around, trying to find where the Black Knight hid, and sure enough he was there, sitting on top of one of the pillars, sharpening his halberd with a stone.
“Isn’t it grand?” the Black Knight asked, “I constructed these pillars from the very grounds where our ancestors had their first encounter…where Lancelot fought Arthur. Do you know what happened in that fight?” The Black Knight questioned further, but Kelly’s silence was answer enough for him, “Lancelot…defeated…Arthur. Now, my ancestor was not particularly inclined to finish him off, though he could have. Instead, my ancestor’s victory was knowing he could bring the mighty King Arthur to his knees any time he wanted, even when he is armed with the legendary Excalibur. But do you know what else he won from him?”
“Why don’t you get to the point,” Kelly said defiantly.
“His wife…Guinevere,” the Black Knight finished, as Kelly stood there confused, “oh it’s true…Lancelot and Guinevere had a lengthy affair, but don’t worry…Arthur had his fair share of trysts. You see, Arthur also has some very interesting relationships when Guinevere was not to be found, and he sired one very famous son. Do you know who that is?”
“I’m done with the talking!” Kelly shouted, summoning Excalibur and bringing it to bare, ready to fight. Kelly charged, shouting angrily as his emotions backed his attack. He was ready to take revenge on the Black Knight for putting those civilians in danger, as well as speaking ill of his family.
“Mordred.” The Black Knight said simply, not even raising a finger to defend himself. At that, Kelly was stopped in his tracks, dropping his weapon in utter shock, “That’s right. The ‘righteous King Arthur,’ defender of peace and all that is good, bared the most sinister man to exist, Mordred. And I’ll tell you who the mother is, just because I like to exploit your ignorance. Mordred’s mother…was King Arthur’s sister, Gwyar. Arthur raped his sister, who was married to another man…and the spawn of this unholy union was none other than the Prince of all Evil, Mordred.”
Kelly reached down, clutching the handle of his sword in his hand and standing straight up. He raised his blade up high over his head as absolute rage fueled his every muscle, before plunging it into the ground with a furious battle cry. The ground splintered all around them, sending the most powerful shockwave any of the Rangers have ever released in the direction of the Black Knight. He didn’t even try to avoid it, and he allowed himself to be struck by the attack as it hurdled him into the pillar. An invisible force stopped him in mid-air, and he was dropped to the ground. The Black Knight struggled to stand back up, but even in obvious pain he was still laughing beneath his mask.
“Good…good…” the Black Knight said between coughs as he tried to regain his breath, “your anger is great, and your focus is shot. I’m in your head, Red Ranger, and I don’t plan on leaving any time soon.”
Kelly was done with the games, and he rushed forward with Excalibur at the ready. This time, the Black Knight brought his weapon to bare and used it to deflect the Red Ranger’s attack, repelling him away as he charged like a wild boar. Again the Red Ranger swung, and the Black Knight backed up to avoid the shot, using his halberd to hold the sword down and thrust his foot forward to kick King away. Even during the battle, the Black Knight continued his onslaught of his derogatory history lesson.
“Do you know what happened to King Arthur’s family Red Ranger? His boy Llacheu dies, eaten by ravens. Loholt is killed by Sir Kay over who can take credit for the defeat of a giant. Gwydre is killed by a giant boar, along with Arthur’s uncles while he is off shirking his responsibilities. And most tragically, there is Amr…who King Arthur slays with his own two hands…” The Black Knight takes great pleasure in revealing, and each word drives Kelly into an even more crazed state. His attacks grow more desperate and uncalculated, while the Black Knight remains cool and collected. He uses this to his advantage, and he finds an opening to slash at Kelly’s armor with his halberd, forming a large scar in his outfit and throwing Kelly to the floor. The Black Knight backs off, twirling his blade playfully. He could have finished the job right there, but he wanted Kelly to hear his latest revelation, “That means, oh mighty Red Ranger, that you are the direct descendent of not only King Arthur…but Mordred as well…”
Beneath Kelly’s mask, his eyes are wide with shock. His breathing is short and quick, panting like a madman from trying to keep up with the fight as his mind tried to keep up with this terrible news. He couldn’t be a descendent of Mordred, it had to be a lie, all of it.
“You’re lying!” King shouted, “King Arthur was a pillar of justice! There’s no way this could be true!” Kelly reasoned as he got back up to his feet, using Excalibur as a crutch.
“Oh, but its well documented Ranger. Anyone who does their research can find the true story of King Arthur and his family,” the Black Knight explained, “the fairy tales you’re told in school are just sugar coated stories to make the hero look like someone to be admired, but they are nothing but lies. The real King Arthur was an adulterous, feeble minded, weak individual who was wrongfully granted his powers by Merlin through a misinterpretation of a prophecy. Excalibur was supposed to belong to Lancelot, and now…I’m going to correct that ancient mistake.”
Kelly’s blind fury grew to unprecedented levels, and with it his power began to grow. Fire began to erupt from all over his body, wrapping around the Red Ranger. The fire solidified, forming a brand new set of armor, including full arm chain mail and knee and chin armor. The chest armor wrapped around the back, unlike his Armor of the Ancients, and from the back armor sprouted wings, which King could manipulate at will. It was a more focused form of the armor and wings he developed in his quest to attain his Armor of the Ancients when battling the Black Knight. Even Excalibur was powered up, glowing red hot and consumed with flames. Even with the Red Rangers new powers, the Black Knight seemed less than intimidated. Beneath his mask, he was smiling a full grin. He had achieved what he had come to do, now it was time to test his limits.
“BY THE POWER OF DARK MAGIC! ARMOR OF THE ANCIENTS ACTTIVATE!”
The Black Knight summoned his armor to keep up with his rival’s new powers, and he prepared himself for the fight of his life. Kelly took one step forward, but that one step was all he needed to propel himself through the air all the way to the Black Knight. In the blink of an eye he was there, face to face with the Black Knight, swinging his fiery sword leaving the Black Knight just enough time to dodge the lethal strike. Even if he was unharmed by the blade, the shockwave of the blast propelled him backwards into the invisible wall formed by his magic pillars once again. He saw that his armor was singed, and it dawn on the Black Knight that the Red Ranger’s latent powers were more dangerous than he previously assumed. He was only just bringing himself back to his feet, but Kelly was already right in front of him. Kelly swung the butt of his sword into the Black Knight’s gut, doubling him over, then jabbed it upwards right in to the Black Knight’s helmet, sending him soaring through the air. The Black Knight crash landed into the pavement, and for a long moment he was unable to stand.
At that moment, the Rangers were seen running up to the pillars, only to be stopped by the invisible wall which apparently was powerful enough to keep all the unwanted participants out. The Rangers pounded on the force field, trying to get their leader’s attention.
“Kelly! Kelly stop! We’ve freed the hostages and disarmed the bombs!” Athena called out, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. The incredibly powerful Red Ranger continued his march with malicious intent, dragging his flaming sword along the ground and cutting into it like butter with the greatest of ease.
“No…this ends tonight…no more innocent people being put in harm’s way because of him,” Kelly said resolutely.
“Kelly no! We have a chance to save him! We can bring him to our side!” Athena continued.
“And what if he’s not under a spell? What if he’s just that evil? Would you allow a man like him to exist and threaten everyone you love?” Kelly argued, “what if he was the one who killed Michael?” Athena gasped, holding her mouth as the thought crossed her mind. She shook her head, refusing to believe it was a possibility.
“No…no we can’t think that way! We have to try! Please Kelly!” Athena cried out once again.
Kelly refused to listen, and he finally approached the fallen Black Knight who was just now beginning to move. He had only made it to his hands and knees, and pieces of his armor were shattered. A large part of his chest piece was missing, his mouthpiece was destroyed showing that the Black Knight was coughing up blood, and even part of his visor was cracked, and the Rangers who were looking hard enough could look into one of his eyes. Kelly stood over the vulnerable Black Knight, his sword raised high with the point aimed directly at his neck. He had the power to bring the Black Knight to hell’s gate once and for all, but something held him still.
Athena was demorphed, and her eyes were filled with tears. Her hands were clasped together as if she was praying for him to stop. The sight of her like that caused him to stop, as he couldn’t bring himself to hurt her.
“Please Kelly…you’re not like this…you don’t have to kill him…you can save him…” Athena said once again. Kelly’s arms trembled as his rage began to subside, and with it his armor began to fade away. His flaming sword was extinguished, and suddenly a great weakness fell over him. Kelly collapsed to the ground in his normal Ranger form, and the Black Knight knew the fight was over.
The Black Knight looked up with labored breaths, looking to the woman who just saved his life. Athena locked her gaze on the Black Knight, and the sight of him brought chills down her spine. There was something…familiar about his partially revealed face, but she wasn’t allowed a better look. The Black Knight teleported away, taking his pillars with him. This allowed the Rangers to come forth and check on their weakened leader, who promptly demorphed along with the other Rangers. Kyle slid on his knees and caught Kelly before he could fall backwards and hit his head on the pavement.
“Come on fearless leader, you gotta talk to us,” Kyle said as he slapped his face a few times.
“I’m okay…I’m okay…” Kelly reassured them. The Rangers breathed a sigh of relief at the sound of his voice, “let’s get out of here.”
The Rangers nodded and used their powers to teleport away, back to the castle beneath the lake where Kelly could rest and they could go over the events of the battle. Kelly told his comrades what the Black Knight had told him about his family and his relation to Mordred, and how his anger seemed to fuel his new armor. The Lady of the Lake seemed concerned over this development.
“Kelly, you must use great caution when you choose to call upon that armor,” she warned him, “that armor preys upon your inner rage. It puts a tremendous toll on your body, and it is rooted in Black Magic.”
“Wait…you mean?” Kelly asked, but the Lady of the Lake nodded before he could get the words out.
“That armor was forged by Mordred, and if you activate it, you will be a slave to your anger. You will be unable to control yourself, and it will sap your body of its strength with every second you use it,” the Lady continued, and she didn’t have to tell him twice.
“I understand. It was so easy to fight the Black Knight with that new power, but it almost killed him…I couldn’t control myself, and if it wasn’t for Athena, the Black Knight would be dead right now,” Kelly explained as he looked to Athena, “thank you for stopping me. You’re right, we have to try to bring him around and break the spell.” Athena smiled, just happy that she was able to make a difference before it was too late.
“Don’t worry about it,” Athena reassured him, “I know we’ll get the job done. Next time we meet the Black Knight, we’ll save him.” She said, but something deep inside of her made her continue her thought in her head, ‘whoever he is…’
Back in the Dimension of Camlann…
Mordred escorts the injured Black Knight through the castle, up the winding stairwell and into the chambers of Morgan le Fay. Morgan stands before him, eyeing him suspiciously before a satisfied smile creeps across her face. She spreads her arms wide and cried out with glee, and Mordred and the Black Knight laugh sinisterly.
“My Black Knight,” Morgan le Fay says cheerfully, “You’ve done your job well. You forced the full power of the Red Ranger to come to its surface, leaving just enough residual energy for my final plan to come into play,” she says as she swings her hand, throwing up a cloud of dust. Within the cloud, a vision is shown of the city from overhead. Black dots begin to form all over the map, and soon a perfect circle surrounds the city, as well as one bright red circle directly in the center, “I’ve sacrificed the necessary amount of my Fallen soldiers in strategic points all around this city, and forced the Power Rangers to expend all of their energy destroying them, as well as fighting you. Now…I will harness that power and bring forth our dimension into the real world! And with its power back on earth, I will harness it to bring an end to technology and science…and bring about a new age of magic! And this time, it will last into eternity…” Morgan le Fay let out a loud maniacal laughter, joined by her two seemingly loyal servants. Morgan’s plan was about to come to fruition, but little did she know that Mordred and the Black Knight had plans of their own.

Episode Nineteen:
It was a particularly foggy day in the city of Lakeside. It was not uncommon for fog to appear from time to time given the city’s close proximity to the lake, but not in the beginning of summer and especially not as thick as it was today. The air was unseasonably cold, but the civilians of Lakeside went about business as usual, even given the unusual weather. The Power Rangers took notice of the peculiar day, but given no imminent threat, they had no choice but to go to school as per usual as well.
“Brr! This fog stinks man, I could barely see on m way to school this morning,” Dallas said.
“I know, what’s the deal? It’s never been this cold in the summer,” Justin agreed.
“You guys don’t think…” Kyle asked suspiciously, implying Morgan le Fay’s involvement with the weather.
“What? You think she’s trying to give us a cold?” Justin answered, “come on dude. We’ve dealt with worse. She isn’t going to sneeze us to death.”
“Yeah I guess,” Kyle agreed.
“Nothing is out of the question. You never know what she could be up to,” Kelly warned.
“What do you think it could be? What could her plan possibly be if she is responsible?” Athena asked.
“I don’t know, but knowing her it can’t be anything good,” Kelly said.
Meanwhile, in the dimension of Camlann…
Morgan le Fay uses her crystal ball to spy on the Power Rangers, grinning ear to ear. She summons Mordred and the Black Knight into her chambers, ready to spring her trap.
“My loyal soldiers…it is time to put my plan into action. Go to earth, and activate the spell which will recombine our dimension with theirs. Once it is complete, my powers will be unmatched by anything, and I will rule with absolute power!” Morgan le Fay commanded before cackling in her evil laughter. Mordred and the Black Knight bowed obediently, leaving to carry out their queen’s commands.
“Worry not my Black Knight,” Mordred assured his hypnotized soldier, “when the spell is complete, your powers will also be enhanced. Once you defeat the Power Rangers, you will be strong enough to destroy that ignorant witch, and then I will rule this world and all who inhabit it. All will be as it should…”
The Black Knight and Mordred walked through the portal to earth, and it brought them to the center of the city, the same location as the initial invasion as well as the battle between the Black Knight and the Red Ranger the day before. It was still heavily damaged and the residual energy still hung in the air, as well as the energies from the battles with the Fallen all around the city. Mordred and the Black Knight stood in the exact center of the city, their hands raised up as they faced each other as they initiated their spell. Civilians noticed the two demonic warriors were back and screamed, scattering to safety and calling for help. The Black Knight looked to the fleeing populous and moved to capture them, but Mordred stopped him before he could leave.
“They are of no concern Black Knight,” Mordred advised, “by the time the Rangers come to help, the spell will be in full effect, and there will be nothing they can do to stop it.”
The Black Knight listened to his master’s orders and faced him once again as they began channeling their energies into one central point. At that moment, the once invisible energies that laid dormant in the air from the previous week’s battles began to glow with a dark aura. A black barrier appeared on the outer walls of the city, and at each location a beam of energy arced through the air and met at the central point where Mordred and the Black Knight were conducting their spell. The powers combined, and immediately the landscape began to change. The ground beneath them turned from damaged cement into murky ground as the dimensions of Camlann and earth began to merge.
At this energy spike, the Lady of the Lake quickly took notice as utter fear consumed her. Morgan le Fay was putting her plan into action, and the Rangers must stop her. She sent a telepathic message to the Rangers to try and warn them.
“RANGERS!” she began as all five of them immediately perked their heads up and stepped out of whatever class they were in, “Mordred and the Black Knight are back, and they are trying to merge the two dimensions into one. If they succeed, their powers will grow exponentially, and there will be no stopping them! You must stop the spell, quickly! Go now!” The Rangers heard the urgency in her voice and each snuck off to somewhere to morph so they could respond to the emergency.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! GREEN KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! PINK KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! BLUE KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! YELLOW KNIGHT ARISE!”
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! RED KNIGHT ARISE!”
The Rangers morphed and instantly teleported across town to where the spell was taking place. A mighty wind had kicked up at the source of the incredibly powerful spell, making it difficult for the Rangers to keep their footing, let alone push forward.
“We got to stop them!” Kelly shouted out above the sound of the blaring winds. Dallas drew her bow and pulled back on the string, firing an energy arrow at Mordred. It was dead on, but at the last moment the Black Knight leapt forward and blocked the arrow with his shield. He had summoned his Armor of the Ancients and abandoned the spell while Mordred stayed to continue it.
“All is lost Rangers,” the Black Knight spoke grimly, “the spell is nearly complete, and with each passing second we each grow in strength. And once the spell is complete, we will become unstoppable, and your precious city will cease to exist.”
“That’s not going to happen!” Kelly shouted as he raised Excalibur over his head. Justin and Kyle in turn also raised their weapons and each of the three smashed their weapons into the ground. A thunderous shockwave steamrolled towards the Black Knight, but he seemed less than intimidated. In turn, the Black Knight raised his weapon and sent it crashing into the ground, and a similarly powerful shockwave careened towards the Rangers. The two seismic attacks meant, and cancelled each other out in the center, leaving a monumental crater between them.
“Impossible!” Justin shouted as he saw their immensely powerful attack cancelled out by only one man. The Black Knight causally hung his weapon over his shoulder, practically daring the Rangers to cross the crater and attack him. They weren’t going to take that blatant taunting lying down, and so they leapt into the air with their weapons drawn. Their hasty attitude would cost them, as the Black Knight slashed through the air with his deadly halberd, sending a blade of energy directly at the Rangers and knocking them out of the air with a powerful explosion. They collapsed into the crater, holding their chests where they Rangers now sported gruesome damage on their armor. The Black Knight stood at the edge of the crater, admiring his handiwork.
“This…is where I would ask you to surrender…but that is no longer an option. My master demands your destruction, and so your destruction I will bring. Goodbye Rangers,” The Black Knight said as he held one hand high as a large ball of energy formed inside of it. He released the energy ball into the crater, shattering the ground and forming a massive abyss, in which the Rangers fell. The Rangers screamed as they plummeted to their certain doom, knowing they had to do something or it would all be over.
“BY THE POWER OF WHITE MAGIC! ARMOR OF THE ANCIENTS, ACTIVATE!”
The Rangers called upon their armor to bring them greater power, and they used it to clutch onto the walls of the abyss and stop their rapid descent. Safe, for now, each of them looked around to make sure the others were okay.
“Everyone safe?” Kelly asked.
“Yeah, we’re all here,” Athena answered.
“That was really close,” Dallas noted, seeing the bottom only about a dozen feet away, the ground riddled with rocky spikes.
“You guys! Look!” Kyle pointed up with one hand before quickly latching on to the side of the wall to avoid falling. The Rangers looked up and the Black Knight was sealing the top of the abyss with his spell, trapping them inside. The hole was pitch-black, and no one could see even a foot in front of them.
“We’re trapped, and I can’t hold on much longer,” Justin said as his grip began to fail him.
“We have to climb down to the bottom. From there we can figure out what to do,” Kelly said and the rest of the Rangers agreed. Carefully they climbed downwards, slowly to make sure they didn’t slip. Once they all reached the ground, they reached out to find each other and grasped hands. Kelly channeled his energy into his sword Excalibur, and a bright light shone from the blade to illuminate the hole, if only slightly. The Rangers could see each other once again, but they knew it was only a matter of time before they ran out of air.
“Great, were stuck. What are we going to do?” Justin said pessimistically.
“How did this happen? He’s never defeated us so easily,” Dallas noted.
“You heard him,” Kyle spoke up, “that spell of theirs is making them more powerful by the second. We never stood a chance.” The Green Ranger grew frustrated and struck the wall with his fist.
“We can’t give up like that, there’s no way we can allow them to win,” Athena reasoned.
“LET THEM? Look around you Athena! We’re in a hole a mile below the earth’s surface, and above us is a psychopath from the middle-ages and his super-powered henchman who are getting more powerful by the second, and they were arguably stronger than us to begin with,” Kyle shouted angrily, “that isn’t something we can control Athena! That isn’t something we’re ‘letting’ happen. That’s HAPPENING! Whether we like it or not!” When Kyle finished his tyrade, Kelly lashed out with a strike with his right hand, knocking Kyle on his a**. The Green Ranger held his helmet as he heard ringing in his head. He looked up at Kelly with a look of shock, unsure of what just happened. They both sat there in silence, staring at each other as Kelly’s stern look told the entire story. The Red Ranger reached out with his hand, offering to help Kyle to his feet. He was reluctant, but it was only a matter of time before he smiled and took his hand, standing back up.
“You good?” Kelly asked simply.
“Yeah, I’m good,” Kyle answered, “Thanks man.”
“Any time,” Kelly replied.
“Well now that that’s over with,” Justin interjected, “back to the matter at hand. How are we getting out of here?”
“We’re the Power Rangers, how do we do anything?” Kelly answered cryptically.
“With everything we’ve got,” Athena said with a smile on his face. Kelly nodded, and he grabbed Excalibur, holding it up as it glowed brilliantly. Athena stepped up and held her hand gently over the hilt. The rest of the Rangers got the hint and decided to try this new idea out. First Kyle stepped forward and placed his hand on the sword, then Dallas and Justin at the same time. With each hand the sword glowed brighter and brighter, until the entire cavern was lit up with the Power Ranger’s magical energy.
The Rangers were lifted off the ground, levitating slightly from the bottom of the cavern and they all looked around in astonishment. They couldn’t believe it was working, but if it was working, they had to try harder. The Rangers focused their energies into the sword, and slowly but surely they began to rise up into the air. Faster and faster they flew, until they found themselves careening through the air towards the sealed off ceiling. The Rangers braced themselves for the impact, but the mighty Excalibur cut through the ceiling with the greatest of ease. The Rangers shot out like a cannon, escaping the abyss and landing safely on the ground. But it was not the ground they were familiar with.
The Rangers looked around, and what they found was completely foreign to them. Instead of a city, it was a dank and murky forest At first they thought they had emerged in the woods opposite of the lake, but that was impossible. The only answer was one they couldn’t accept, and that was that Mordred and the Black Knight…had succeeded in completing their spell.
Everything they had grown up with was gone as the Rangers soon realized while they walked through the forest to try and find their way out. Every building lay in rubble at their feet. They found people hiding in caves and high in the trees, cowering in fear, and shaking their heads angrily at the Rangers. They had failed the citizens of Lakeside, they were gone in their time of need and now everything had been destroyed, replaced by this medieval forest, with something large looming in the distance. They knew they had screwed up, and they had to set it right. They decided to head towards the structure in the distance, none of them saying a word as they all knew what the situation was and words seemed worthless at the moment.
The Rangers hacked through the dense forest until they finally reached the edge, and they emerged from the brush to find a towering castle on the horizon. It was incredibly massive, dominating the entire landscape with thirty-foot walls lined with cannons. In front of the walls in numbers that seemed incomprehensible were hordes of Fallen foot soldiers each armed with short swords. There were at least twenty-five rows of fifty soldiers each, and even though they were considerably weaker than the Power Rangers, there was something to be said about power in numbers.
However, that was not the most fearful thing about the scene they saw. In the distance, next to the castle walls stood the Royal King Megazord as well as the Skyward Stallion Megazord, bound by chains of dark magical energy and drained of their powers. They sat there, lifeless and drained of their colors. They were Morgan le Fay’s trophies, and she intended on keeping them by the size of her army which was just waiting for the Rangers to take one more step. Each of the Rangers looked to each other, wondering what their next move should be, but there was only one real answer. The Rangers summoned their weapons, gripping them tightly in their hands as they prepared for what could quite possibly be the last battle of their lives.
“Well…it’s been fun,” Justin said as he took a deep breath, calming his nerves.
“It’s about to get even better,” Kyle continued.
“There’s so many of them,” Dallas observed.
“And we’ve got more in us than they’ve got in their whole army,” Athena said reassuringly.
“So let’s let it all hang out. WHO ARE WE!?” Kelly shouted out, determined and resolved.
“POWER RANGERS!”

Episode Twenty:
((Previously on Power Rangers: Knights of Anarchy...just look up...))
The five Power Rangers charged in full steam to the waiting horde of Fallen, weapons drawn and ready to put everything on the line in this final battle. The demon army also advanced, swords drawn and roaring in their own grotesque tongue a battle cry that would horrify most. The Rangers were undeterred, and responded with a shouting cry of determination of their own. Kelly took the lead and swung wildly with his loyal Excalibur, and a shockwave ripped through the air and tore into the first attacking wave of Fallen, wiping them off the face of the earth in one swift blow. He had cut a hole in the army ten soldiers wide and five deep, significant in any other battle, but a drop in the bucket in this encounter.
Dallas took the lead after this, taking aim and as quickly as she could, fired round after round of energy arrows from her magic bow and cut the whole even deeper, striking down enemy after enemy and punching a deeper hole for her comrades to come through. Justin and Kyle were next, taking the flanks and bringing their weapons down in unison, rocking the earth and bending it like a wave, throwing a dozen or so Fallen into the air and bringing them down crashing into their own fellow warriors. Athena stood in the middle of each of her four teammates, throwing her whip into the air and spinning it around, building a charge in it before lashing out and sending an electrical charge from soldier to soldier through the horde and dropping them instantly.
By this time, the Fallen had climbed over the bodies of their deceased comrades and were closing in to point blank range. The Rangers put their major weapons away and turned to their swords, deciding it would be best to give them greater maneuverability, even Kelly who chose speed over strength in this situation. The Fallen just kept coming, even with nearly a quarter of the army taken out in the Rangers’ initial attack, there were just so many of them and they kept pouring in like water.
Eventually the Rangers were separated from each other by the strategy employed by the Fallen, putting so many of them between each of the Rangers, and as time went by the Rangers couldn’t even tell where their teammates were. They were completely surrounded and isolated from their friends, unable to tell if they were already defeated or moving on to the next group. All they could do was fight on and hope that somehow they could reunite with their friends.
Kyle was trying to keep his particular group at a distance, but eventually the bodies piled so high that he was sealing himself into a tomb. The Fallen kept climbing up and over the bodies and tossing them aside, striking from every angle. Every so often, a sword slash would get through and sparks would fly, Kyle would stagger and recover, knowing that if he slowed down for even a second, he would be overrun and it would be all over. But his strength was no unlimited, and his body grew tired and sore from the constant fighting. It was truly a nightmare, having to be ready from all angles in case another attack would come. Kyle began to slow down even more, and more and more attacks came through and cut Kyle’s armor. Still the Green Ranger pressed on and was able to keep his kill rate high, but he wondered how long he could possibly keep this up.
The story was the same for Athena. The range was far too close for her to utilize her whip, and she wasn’t the best swordsman in the world. She kept her head on a pivot, swinging around with her sword to keep the Fallen at bay. Every so often, one or two would get bold enough to lunge forward and attack, and they would usually be struck down, but the two or three that took advantage of her momentary distraction would cut her in the back and drag her to the ground. Athena would thrash and kick, repelling her Fallen attackers but she would just be exhausted by the time she stood back up and the process started all over again. After a few minutes of fighting, two Fallen demon soldiers were able to come from behind and latch onto the Pink Ranger’s arms, holding her still and keeping her from using her sword. He was vulnerable, but was still able to kick. It was only partly effective as it kept the Fallen away, but it wasn’t destroying anyone. She knew it was a matter of time before she wasn’t able to fight back anymore.
Justin wasn’t surrounded, instead he has been pushed back from the main battle and into a downed building nearby. He was heavily damaged as was evident from the scars all over his body. Justin held his chest as he was chased into the downed building which seemed to be a parking garage. It was dark, and Justin was disarmed as he had lost his sword long ago, and his arm was too hurt to use his gauntlet. He was in a sense defenseless, too weak to strike back nowhere left to run with the ramp that led up to the rooftop level destroyed. The Blue Ranger hid behind a pillar in the shadows, cradling his arm as he slumped down and tried to catch his breath. He knew that if he was found out, he was finished, and he tried to keep as quiet as possible so that he wouldn’t be discovered. He knew it was useless though, as there were dozens of Fallen storming in trying to find him, and it was only a matter of time before he was found out.
Dallas was able to run away and establish herself on a hill where she planned on taking the Fallen out one by one with her bow, but the Fallen were right on her heels and she was forced to use her sword to bat them away one by one. She’d slash at a soldier and watch it fall down the massive hill, only to see five more climb up after her, reaching for her feet like zombies desperate to get any sort of hold on their pray. Dallas kept retreating, pressing up the hill backwards to keep watch on her enemies drawing ever closer, searching desperately for a way to fight back. She found herself on top of a skyscraper on the verge of collapse. She ran to the very edge of the building, looking down to see nothing but a twenty story drop waiting her. She looked back and watched as soldier after soldier climbed over the edge and pilled on to the building. Dallas could feel the foundation of the building begin to collapse under the weight of the soldiers and herself. By this time, it was either jump or be pushed, and she didn’t know which was the better solution.
Kelly was in a similar predicament, fairing no better than any of his teammates. He was on top of a hill, surrounded on all sides by Fallen who were advancing up the hill, only to be cut down one by one from the Red Ranger’s use of both of his swords. Even if no one had touched him yet, the landscape on all sides as far as the eye could see was dominated by Fallen just waiting to get a crack at him, and he knew that if he had to keep this up all day then he would surely fall. He looked out across the battlefield and he saw Kyle getting buried by Fallen. He saw Athena being held back and tortured by the demon soldiers just waiting to take a shot at her. He saw Justin hiding in a parking garage, waiting for the execution squad hunting for him to find his hiding spot. He saw Dallas in the distance standing on the edge of a building as the Fallen climbed over and ran at her like lemmings, ready to take her over the edge with them. He felt helpless to save them, like everything they had worked so hard for had been for nothing. He couldn’t believe it was ending this way…he wouldn’t let it.
Something inside Kelly was flipped on, and his emotions were taken to another level. He spread his arms wide and he turned his head to the sky as he felt pure power surge through him. Fire spread out from his body and threw all of the surrounding enemies to their backs. Kelly was shouting at the top of his lungs as he was once again taken over by the power of the armor, and he liked it. He knew now he had the power to defeat every single one of the Fallen, but something was holding him back. He kept hearing the Lady of the Lake’s words ringing in his head, warning him to keep his emotions under control or else the armor would destroy him. He fought within himself, trying to beat back the powers within him trying to take over, and at last a light shone from deep within him. Kelly grasped at the light, and when he did everything became clear. His mind was back in control, and he never felt so good.
“INFERNO RED RANGER!”
Kelly called out as he brought a name to his revolutionary new powers, and he sprang off from his perch and soared through the air with both swords in hands, slicing and dicing the Fallen soldiers with the greatest of ease. Even those who avoided the sword slash were incinerated instantaneously by the flames emanating from the Inferno Red Ranger. He landed away from the crowd as he watched his targets fall flat or burn up before his eyes, and he knew he was back in this fight.
At the time that Kelly activated his powers, Kyle felt like a door inside of him was opened. He opened his eyes wide as his eyes dilated, and he paused, but the Fallen didn’t. Kyle did nothing, as if the Fallen all posing to strike him down weren’t even there. He felt a power surge inside of him, and it was familiar. The same energy he felt when he was trying to pass Merlin’s test, and visions of his friends appeared next to him to help him fight. He felt as if that power was inside of him, and he reached deep within himself to bring it out. Seven Fallen reached up to strike the Green Ranger down with their swords, and they swung down with great fury, but each sword was stopped. The Green Ranger’s uniform turned into the seven colors of the rainbow, and seven arms each armed with swords reached up to block the attack. The arms were able to push back and send the Fallen tumbling to their backs. From Kyle’s body, stepped forth six clones of himself each armed with a sword and ready to follow Kyle’s commands.
“SHINING PRISM RANGER!”
Kyle and his six clones shouted out, and they all leapt into the air and slashing through their Fallen enemies with newfound power. Each time one of the Fallen found an opening, the clone would disappear and enter into the body of another, which would easily dispatch with the one who tried to attack the earlier clone and destroy it, and separate once again to become two. Once they had some space cleared finally, they all joined together at each other’s sides and ran forward with swords drawn as a rainbow of energy poured out behind them and Kyle and his clones carved a path out of the horde and back to Kelly. His clones poured back into his body, and he shook his head in disbelief at what he had just accomplished.
Athena was drained, emotionally and physically. She had lost the ability to kick away the Fallen to protect herself, and she had lost the will to fight on. It was too hard, and she wasn’t doing any damage. It was game over, and she knew it…until she felt an energy inside of her resurface. Her body grew warm, and soon she felt as if she was completely refueled and rejuvenated. Her body began to shine brightly, blinding the Fallen around her and forcing them to relinquish their grasp on her arms and back away. Athena felt the power rush up from inside of her, just like it did in her dream when she defeated the fake Black Knight. Her light became so fierce it even began burning the evil Fallen away, destroying everything evil within its radiance. Athena took gentle steps forward and the Fallen tried to flee, but none were safe from her cleansing light. When she emerged from the crowd the light died down.
“PURITY WHITE RANGER!”
Athena declared before one more brave and stupid Fallen soldier rushed forward with his sword. Athena drew her whip and charged it with the energy she had built up inside of her, and lashed out at it. The whip turned into a laser and cut the Fallen clean in half, leaving her a clear path to rejoin her friends.
Justin heard the Fallen army drawing closer and closer, and he knew his time was up. Justin couldn’t help but laugh, in awe that this was how it ended. He had never feared the Fallen, even before he gained his powers. He was so proud of his powers and how easily he was able to defeat them, but now he was brought to his knees because there were just so many of them. He was too weak to fight, and there was no where left to run. No where left to hide, despite the ever present darkness. Justin watched as the lights flashed outside, and in turn he felt a light and power build up inside of him as well. Justin closed his eyes, and for a moment he felt at peace, at one with the darkness. Justin opened his eyes, and suddenly all there was…was darkness. The Fallen turned the corner where Justin was hiding, but they saw nothing. It was like he was never even there.
“PHANTOM COBALT RANGER!”
The voice of Justin rang out through the parking lot and the Fallen looked frantically to see where it was coming from, but they found nothing. Instead, they watched as their bodies slowly became engulfed by the shadows which surrounded them. Slowly their feet were covered with darkness, then crept up their legs. Struggles as they might, they had nowhere to go and soon they were completely consumed. When the shadows faded away, the Fallen were gone and so was Justin. One lone shadow swept across the ground and approached the powered up Rangers, then materialized into its normal form, Justin in his new black costume, and completely healed.
Dallas was on top of the building and she felt it crumble beneath her feet. She knew it was over, that the weight of the Fallen pouring onto the roof top to follow her had compromised the foundation and now they were all going down. Dallas was crushed, she didn’t want it to end this way. Then, she too felt the light inside of her rejuvenate her and bring her a new sense of purpose. She was compelled to throw caution to the wind, and she instantly began running forward. Her brilliant yellow outfit turned to a glimmering gold, and she drew her bow with a vague idea as to what she was going to do with it.
“BOLD GOLD RANGER!”
Dallas cried out as she leapt into the air, leapfrogging off of the heads of the Fallen as the building began to collapse. Like Mario she jumped from head to head until she got to the edge and she jumped up, placing her bow beneath her feet and using it as a board to glide down the bodies of Fallen who themselves were falling to their deaths. For twenty stories she soared down the Fallen as if she was riding down K2 during an avalanche and she screamed with joy and excitement. She reached the ground and dismounted, sliding away as she watched the building crash, taking every one of the Fallen with it. She went up to her fellow super powered Rangers and high fived them all, each of them ecstatic at the arrival of their new powers and admired their friends’ new outfits.
“This is unbelievable!” Dallas shouted out.
“These new powers, I feel like we’re stronger than we are with our Armor!” Kyle added.
“No doubt, I’ve never thought of this kind of power,” Justin agreed.
“I knew we could bring this power to the surface. I felt it in my dream,” Athena admitted.
“But there’s one thing more we have to do,” Kelly said as he pointed to the distance where their Megazords laid, bound by the shadow chains and completely sapped of their powers. The other Rangers nodded and refocused their energies as their leader raised his legendary sword Excalibur. The brand new Power Rangers channeled their energies into Excalibur until it glowed with a light shining like no other. When Kelly felt that his sword could hold no more, he summoned all of his strength to swing his sword and fire the energy through the air directed at their trapped Megazords. The energy blade cut the shadow chains, shattering them like glass while the residual energy focused into the reserved on the Megazord’s batteries. Their eyes began to shine and suddenly the color began to come back into their bodies. The Megazords, now charged and ready, stood up once again and raised their arms, ready to once again fight alongside the Power Rangers.
“YES! It worked!” Justin called out.
“We’re back in business baby!” Kyle agreed.
“Power Rangers, new and improved,” Dallas said confidently.
“And now we have what we need to storm the castle,” Athena added.
“Morgan le Fay, watch out. Power Rangers are coming for you,” Kelly threatened, but they were unable to take their first step. An explosion shot up at their feet, but they were able to keep themselves safe and not fall to their feet. The smoke cleared, and out from the main gate came their old friend: The Black Knight. He was still using the Armor of the Ancients, but one could tell by the aura of darkness which surrounded him that he was benefitting from the added powers that this fusions of dimensions was granting him. The Black Knight walked forth over the bodies of his utterly obliterated army, and he was ready to finish the job. Mordred had promised him the Powers of the Rangers once they were destroyed, and now it seemed that there was even more for him to take.
“Rangers…this will be our final battle…” The Black Knight declared before bringing his weapon to bare, daring the Rangers to attack.

Episode Twenty One
The Rangers reengaged the Black Knight with their new powers and confidence in their abilities. The Fallen army was gone, and their Megazords were returned to them, and their new powers filled their every muscle with strength they’ve never experienced before. The Black Knight, however, was also enhanced by the realm that they now inhabited as the Rangers could almost feel his muscles flexing through the wind as he moved. He was faster and stronger than ever before, making it hard for even all five Rangers to land a single blow when attacking at the same time. On the counter side, the Black Knight struggled to strike any of his five targets. He grew frustrated, and slammed the butt of his weapon into the ground, sending out a dark pulse of energy that pushed the Rangers back, allowing him to recollect himself and choose his target to single out.
The Black Knight lunged towards the Prism Ranger, swinging his weapon to slice him straight down the middle. Kyle saved himself by separating into his seven clone Ranger form, surrounding the Black Knight. The Black Knight was surprised and caught off guard, giving Kyle the chance to strike. All seven clone Rangers swung their swords down, but the Black Knight ducked and swept the legs of each of the seven clones and they collapsed to the ground. The Black Knight kipped up and struck one of the clones down. It disappeared, and he continued to attack by letting go of his weapon and aiming two blasts of energy at two more clones, which were subsequently destroyed. The other four were able to stand and landed simultaneous kicks to the back of the Black Knight which staggered him into his weapon. The Black Knight picked it back up from out of the earth and swung it like a bat, eradicating three more clones before the original was able to grab the shaft of the massive weapon and keep it still. With his great strength, Kyle lifted the Black Knight into the air by his weapon and swung him around like a hammer before releasing and sending him soaring through the air. The Black Knight recovered in mid-air, and gathered up his energy so that he could strike the ground with all his might with his halberd and send a terrible shockwave through the earth directly at the Prism Ranger. Kyle panicked, and used his flail to try and counter the shockwave with one of his own. At the last second, his weapon struck the ground, but the energy left over from the attack sent him flying through the air and crashing through a distant tree. He was mostly uninjured, but his body was still weak from the battle.
The Black Knight smiled at his success, but was quickly greeted by the Gold Ranger who struck him with three arrows simultaneously in the back. The energy arrows caused him to stumble to the floor, but he quickly recovered so he could see the next three coming and roll out of the way. Dallas continued from her high perch, but her new-found confidence spurred her to follow as the Black Knight fled her attacks and gain a closer range as she fired round after round. Utilizing his shield, the Black Knight deflected most of the arrows, dodging the rest as he rolled away as he retreated towards the lake. Dallas followed him all the way to the beach, but would follow no further as he leapt into the water. She fired rapidly into the water in an attempt to leave him nowhere left to hide. Several hit, but he was merely gathering energy so he could counter attack. The Black Knight leapt up into the air as his blade swept through the water, sending a tremendous wave of water directly at the Gold Ranger. Undeterred, Dallas kept firing, knowing that the Black Knight was somewhere in that wave, and she was right. The Black Knight took several direct shots to the torso thanks to Dallas’ impeccable aim, but he was still able to withstand the barrage until the Gold Ranger was smashed into the ground by the wave of water, leaving her an easy target for his blade. He swung down with his halberd, but he was tackled from behind by an unknown force, sending him tumbling to the beach with a great weight on top of him.
The Black Knight turned to his back and kicked up, forcing the Phantom Cobalt Ranger off of him so he could get back to his feet. Justin wasn’t about to stand by while he watched his girlfriend get diced up, so he was ready to stand between the Black Knight and Dallas until the end. The Black Knight scoffed at his display of chivalry, but gave him no time of reprieve. The Black Knight attacked, but Justin smashed the ground with his gauntlet, throwing up a hail of sand that stood in the air and began behaving like a sandstorm. The Black Knight stopped, looking around to see where his newest target was hiding. He felt the heavy gauntlet dig into his gut, doubling him over, then into his side. His upper back was clubbed next, and his legs taken out from under him. The Black Knight could not foresee any of these attacks and they were accumulating damage quickly, and he needed a way out. He used the same dark energy from before to scatter the sand away from him and dissipate the sandstorm at a great expense of his energy. As he huddled over to regain his breath, he noticed that Justin was nowhere in sight. He wondered where his foe might have escaped to, but he was soon informed when he saw the Cobalt Ranger spring up from the very sand and uppercut him with his gauntlet, nearly sending the Black Knight into orbit. The Black Knight summoned his demon cycle and mounted it in the air, and its energy allowed him to glide through the air like a jet and aim itself back at Justin. He fired the energy cannons, blasting Justin directly and collapsing him to the sand. He drove his flying demon cycle at the Cobalt Ranger, weapon drawn to finish him off, but he was pulled off of his mount at the last moment and yanked to the ground, causing severe whiplash.
The Black Knight held his head, wondering what could have possibly caused his sudden halt of momentum, and that’s when he noticed the familiar whip around his waist. He grabbed it to untie himself, but as he did he felt a surge of electricity fill every fiber of his being. The White Ranger’s attack brought the Black Knight to his knees, smoking from the electrical attack. Athena pulled back on the whip, dragging the Black Knight into the air before slamming him back down again into the hard concrete. This force was finally enough to dislodge the whip from around his waist and the Black Knight was able to drag himself to his feet, severely weakened but not defeated. Athena struck again with her whip, but this time the Black Knight was able to avoid and grab the weapon before yanking tightly and pulling the White Ranger through the air and delivering a devastating strike with the steel shaft of his weapon into the side of his secret former lover. The blow nearly crushed her left arm and sent her tumbling over the ground like a rock skipping across the water. The Black Knight marched to the downed White Ranger, spinning his weapon in preparation for a finishing blow, but he never got the chance. Like a meteor, a flash of red energy crashed into the ground under the Black Knight’s feet and hurdled him through the air once again and he crashed into the very wall of Morgan le Fay’s castle. When he looked up, he saw the flaming body of the Blazing Red Ranger standing in the crater, ready to finish the battle.
The Black Knight collected himself, brushing the rubble from his shoulders. He noticed that part of his visor was cracked, and soon it shattered, leaving his eyes exposed, but not much else. He checked the rest of his armor for damage and it was then that the Black Knight realized just how much this battle had taken out of him as he saw his ancient armor, even his shield, cracked and heavily damaged. The Black Knight’s determination would not allow him to surrender, and he brought himself back into a fighting position as he prepared for the great powers that he knew that Kelly possessed. Kelly would not disappoint, and used his lightning-like speed to bring himself directly before the Black Knight where he swung his leg around and kicked the Black Knight thirty yards to the left. The Red Ranger followed up, using his speed once again to meet the Black Knight before he crashed into the ground to smash him with both fists straight down, creating a massive crater in the ground. Kelly swooped down into the crated and grabbed the Black Knight by his collar, using his wings to soar high into the air. Kelly looked right into the Black Knight’s eyes, which he was surprised to find were as black as night. He didn’t appear to be human anymore, as thick black veins appeared under his skin from what he could tell. Kelly felt sorry for him, as his heart must have been tortured by this evil spell. Excalibur began to glow white as the Red Ranger channeled his energy into it, and he raised it up gently over his head.
“I will purify you, Black Knight. Then this can all be over,” he said calmly, but this only served to enraged the Black Knight.
“I AM PURE!” He shouted in response, flipping a switch on his wrist. Kelly looked at him with a curious glance, but was soon blasted from behind by a massive laser attack which forced him to relinquish his grip on the Black Knight and send him falling to the ground. The Black Knight also fell, but was caught by the massive hand of his Lunar Knight Megazord, which was the source of the previous attack. He limped into the cockpit, deciding now was the time to finish this battle.
The Rangers, battered and bruised, reconvened on the ground to make sure everyone was okay. Each was injured, but still able to fight.
“He’s so strong,” Dallas noted.
“Stronger than he’s ever been before,” Justin added.
“It’s not just that,” Kelly interrupted, “it isn’t just his strength that has changed. I got a look at his eyes…he’s changed on a deeper level. I don’t know if there is anything human left in him.”
“There has to be,” Athena argued, “I don’t believe you can ever lose all of your humanity. We have to try and save him.”
“But who is going to save us from him?” Kyle said, “the guy is massively powerful. I don’t know if we can hold anything back this time.”
“We can’t. He isn’t going to quit until his body stops moving, so we have to do the same. It’s time to take this fight to the skies.” Kelly said and the Rangers agreed, leaping up into their Royal King Megazord which was waiting in the distance. Kelly on the other hand jumped into the Skyward Stallion Megazord, knowing it was going to take everything they had in order to win. He flipped the switch, and at once the Royal King Megazord and the Skyward Stallion Megazord combined into their ultimate form, the Armor King Megazord. They knew from experience that it was strong enough to go blow for blow with the Lunar Knight Megazord, but there was one thing they didn’t know.
“Rangers!” The Black Knight shouted from his Megazord, “I haven’t been sitting on my thumbs waiting for you to get stronger! I’ve been getting stronger as well!” He said as he flipped a similar switch, at which time the shadow clone of Hengroen appeared at the Lunar Knight Megazord’s side. The Rangers were stunned, looking on in utter disbelief. The clone of Hengroan that Duality created began to separate and change into armor, linking up and connecting with the Lunar Knight Megazord, “behold! My Lunar Armor Megazord!”
“That’s impossible!” Kyle shouted.
“No way, how did he get a copy of Hengroan?” Dallas asked.
“I have no idea, but he can’t be better than the original. Rangers? Let’s go!” Kelly ordered and they brought their powerful Megazord into battle. The Lunar Armor Megazord also engaged, his crescent blade now enhanced by Hengroen’s powers as was the Armor King Megazord’s. The blades clashed, and the tremendous spark of energy forced the two Megazord’s back several steps. It seemed at first glance that they were equal in strength.
“I can’t believe he can deflect our sword,” Justin exclaimed.
“We can’t just go blow for blow with him,” Kelly explains, “if we do, we’ll end in a stalemate again, and if that happens then Morgan le Fay and her army will finish us off.”
“He’s right,” Kyle agreed, “we have to end this definitively.”
The Power Rangers drew the bow from the Megazord’s back, placing the energized and hyped up sword in the quiver and taking careful aim. The Lunar Armor Megazord takes a step back, the Black Knight knowing how powerful this attack is from witnessing it personally. The Black Knight energized his own supped up weapon, readying himself for the coming attack. His timing had to be perfect, or else it would all be for nothing. The Armor King Megazord fired the blade from the bow and the Black Knight timed his shot, swinging his energized blade to deflect the sword into the air. Both the Rangers and the Black Knight looked up and saw that the Rangers’ sword was up for grabs, and each of them reached up with their Megazords to grab at it. Each of them grabbed the handle at the same time, and the Megazords exerted all of their strength in the struggle to rip it free from the other’s grasp. The Black Knight tried to take advantage of the situation by using his free hand to swing his blade at the Armor King Megazord’s torso, but the Rangers were able to grab the incoming blade with their Megazord’s free hand to block the potentially fatal attack. The Lunar Armor Megazord pulled its opponent close and its eyes lit up. The Rangers knew what was coming, but there was no way to avoid it. The Lunar Armor Megazord fired with its laser eye beams at point blank range, causing massive damage across the torso and forcing the two Megazords to separate. Fortunately for the Rangers, they were able to regain custody of their sword, and thrust forward with every ounce of power they had left to stab the Lunar Armor Megazord right through its torso while they were still close so it couldn’t avoid it. Sure enough sparks flew and the Lunar Armor Megazord was impaled on the sword, though the damage from the prior laser attack had drained the Armor King Megazord’s energy levels. Both massive metal monsters began to power down, and eventually both of them collapsed to the ground with a thunderous thud. The Rangers and the Black Knight were both ejected from their Megazords and fell to the ground below where they were helpless to watch both of their Megazords spark and power down. They had tried so hard to escape a stalemate, but that’s exactly what had happened.
The Black Knight began to stand, and the Rangers watched as he huffed and puffed, struggling with each and every step just to stay standing. His armor was in no better shape than his Megazord as pieces of metal began to chip off, even his helmet which was showing numerous cracks all over it, including the shattered visor and a newly busted mouth-plate. The Rangers watched as a black bile dripped from the Black Knight’s mouth like blood. The Rangers were disgusted and horrified as they too now saw the grotesque black veins on his face as well as his pitch-black eyes. Athena felt pity for him, even now after everything that had happened. She stepped forward, holding her nearly limp left arm in her other hand as she approached him carefully.
“Athena, what are you doing?” Kelly asked.
“I’m going to find out who he is,” Athena explained, “I have to try…I have to try and save him…”
Athena made it to about ten yards away from the Black Knight before he grew angry and lashed out with his hand, throwing a ball of dark energy at Athena. She threw up her arms to shield herself from the blast, but to her surprise, there was little to no energy behind the attack. She took another step forward, and was met but another energy attack, and again it had no damaging effect. After that, she stopped even deflecting the shots, which grew weaker and weaker until he collapsed to his knees. The Black Knight was coughing and choking violently on the black bile, spitting it out all over the ground. Athena kneeled down next to him, cradling the Black Knight in her arms. He struggled, but had no more strength left to fight.
“You don’t have to fight anymore,” Athena spoke softly, petting the head gently. She waited until she felt the time was right, where he wouldn’t attack her, and then reached down to unclasp the helmet. The Rangers were finally about to find out who the Black Knight was, but what they found was not what they expected. When the helmet came off, she immediately dropped it to the ground and it shattered instantly. Athena’s eyes widened as she looked upon the distorted and damaged face of her lost boyfriend, Mike Landry. She removed her helmet so she might look upon his face with her own eyes. She still couldn’t believe it. His face horrified her, even though he was weak and defeated, he still appeared monstrous with his black eyes and thick veins which spread all over his body.
“Athena! Get away from him!” Kelly ordered, but she wouldn’t, or possibly couldn’t, hear him.
“How…how could you…” Athena asked as a tear dripped down her cheek. It was heartbreaking to know she had been fighting him of all people for so long, and yet it all made perfect sense. The way he knew who they were, the way he knew how to exploit their injuries every time and remain a step ahead, and why he always had to duck away just before every single attack on the city. Her dream was right, and she couldn’t believe how she could have been so blind to the truth.
“I…I can’t…control myself…” Landry spoke weakly, trying to stand although Athena held him down.
“Stop, you have to rest,” Athena insisted.
“I can’t…” Landry admitted, “Mordred…under his spell…I don’t want…gah!” Landry yelped as he was forced to stand up, pushing the White Ranger aside. The Rangers rushed to back her up, preparing for anything he might do next.
“Damnit! Why did it have to be him?” Justin cursed.
“Please…destroy me…” Landry called out to the Rangers as he raised his right hand weakly, forming an energy dagger with what was left of his powers.
“Now now, we all know that isn’t going to happen,” a voice called out from the distance, and when the Rangers found the source they found Mordred walking out of the castle and on to the battlefield, “the Black Knight is my personal servant, and he’ll do whatever I command him to do. And now that you know who he is, you won’t raise a finger to attack him. I really should thank you Pink Ranger, or White Ranger, whatever color you are now. I should have thought of revealing his identity weeks ago. You’ve saved me a lot of trouble. Now…” Mordred lifted his right hand, and Mike held his up as well like a puppet on strings, “it’s time to say goodbye.” And with that, Mordred flicked his wrist and sent the weakened Black Knight running head long into the attack with his energy dagger. The Rangers didn’t know what to do, and all scattered away to avoid the dagger but did not try and attack. They could all see that Landry was doing all of this against his will, and didn’t really want to hurt them. Landry was forced to attack again, and again the Rangers dodged backwards to avoid the blade. Mordred saw that this tactic wasn’t working, but he thought of a new one which made him grin from ear to ear. He forced his Black Knight to hold the energy dagger straight up to his own neck.
“STOP IT YOU MONSTER!” Athena shouted out angrily, “He’s not your toy!”
“Oh but he is. And if I don’t get to play with him the way I please, then I will break him,” Mordred threatened, forcing the blade to come into contact with Landry’s neck and drawing blood, “if you Rangers don’t fight him, I’ll make him slit his own throat right before your very eyes. So it’s your choice Rangers: either you kill him, or I do.”
The Rangers gritted their teeth, frustrated at the ultimatum, but Kelly saw that they really had no choice at all. He stepped up infront of his friends and comrades, though not without opposition. Athena reached out and grabbed hold of his arm, trying to hold him back.
“Kelly don’t,” she pleaded, “if you fight him you’ll kill him.”
“And if I don’t Mordred will make him kill himself,” Kelly said coldly. He looked her dead in the eyes and spoke confidently, “Athena, you have to trust me. I promise, I won’t let him be destroyed,” Athena tried to stop him, but she saw there was nothing she could do. She let go and Kelly faced Mike, and Excalibur began to glow a pure white. Mordred kept the blade at Landry’s neck as he forced him to charge, and Kelly ran forward to meet him. When they were close, Mordred forced Landry to draw the blade on Kelly and it slashed across the torso, the same thing that the Red Ranger did to the Black Knight. Each attack stopped the other cold, and they pressed their respective blades into each other with all their strength. Excalibur began to shine brilliantly, and the Black Knight’s veins and black eyes began to recede and return back to their original forms. The light grew brighter and brighter, consuming them both until everyone on the battlefield has to shield their eyes from the blinding light.
When the light died down, a single silhouette could be seen approaching the direction of the four other Power Rangers. When their eyes came back into focus, they could see it was the Red Ranger carrying Mike over his shoulders off of the battlefield. He dropped him on the ground in front of the Rangers, and Athena immediately ran forward to tend to him. The black veins had receded completely, the black bile gone. She pried open an eyelid, and she found that even his eyes had returned to normal. He was back, and barely breathing. She wrapped her arms around him tightly and the Black Knight’s armor disappeared completely. She wrapped her arms around his neck and prayed for him to return to her safely. Her prayers were answered, and he opened his eyes weakly.
“Hey beautiful…” Mike said weakly. It brought a tear to her eye to find out he was safe, and she hugged him tightly.
“I’m so happy you’re okay…” Athena said, “don’t ever scare me like that again.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” Landry replied with a weak cough.
“No! This can’t be happening!” Mordred cursed as he lost hold of his Black Knight, “I won’t let this happen! If he can’t be my slave, then I’ll destroy you myself! I’ll take your powers and become stronger than anyone!”
“No…you will not…” A booming voice interrupted just as Mordred took his first step forward to attack. He was shocked to find Morgan le Fay standing on one of the castle’s walls with a look of disdain. The Rangers were equally surprised, as no one had even seen her before.
“My lady…” Mordred stuttered, “what a surprise…what are you doing here? I was about to destroy the Power Rangers for you…”
“And then what? Use their powers to usurp and destroy me?” Morgan interrupted, “I’ve known about your foolish plan since the beginning you pathetic pawn. You’ve failed at your plan, and you’ve failed me. And now…it’s time for you to be dispatched.” Morgan le Fay raised a hand and let loose a spell to electrify Mordred. She cold-heartedly eradicated her most powerful former ally, blowing him to pieces. The Rangers were shocked at the sudden cruel display as they watched Mordred get obliterated before their very eyes. They had no idea that she could be so cold, but their problems had only just begun. Morgan le Fay began absorbing the remaining powers of her fallen servant Mordred, and with each ounce of energy her body began to glow and grow. The power surged through her, and the evil witch grew to gigantic size. Her body turned from a mostly humanoid figure into a monstrous visage, now three times the size of her castle.
“Oh man, this is not good,” Dallas said as the Rangers took a step back.
“Now she’s more powerful than ever,” Kyle added.
“And our Zords are toast,” Justin said.
“No…you can win…” Mike said as he tried to stand, but he fell back into Athena’s arms.
“You need to rest, there’s nothing more you can do,” Athena advised.
“No, there is,” Landry said, handing his morpher to Athena, “when my Megazord was built, it was designed to be able to combine with your zords once we stole it away from you. If you use it, you might have enough power to take her down once and for all.”
Athena took the morpher, eyes it curiously. She looked up to her friends, silently asking for advice. They all placed their hand on her shoulders and nodded, they were finally ready to believe Landry and take his last gift and make good use of it.
“We’re going to bring her down, don’t worry,” Kelly said. Athena laid Mike down on the ground and charged the morpher with all the energy she had left. The eyes of the downed Lunar Knight Megazord began to shine and the Rangers did the same. The Royal King Megazord also lit up with life, struggling to stand back up. Kelly jumped up into Hengroen, Athena into the Lunar Knight Megazord, and the remaining three leapt into the Royal King Megazord. With the Rangers now in control of all three Megazords, a new switch lit up as if it was begging to be flipped. Each of the Rangers flipped the switch, and a stunning new transformation took place. The Lunar Knight Megazord began to open up and fold in its limbs, offering itself as a vessel for the zords to combine to. The Royal King Megazord split apart, and each of the zords changed shape yet again so to fit into the new slots made available by the Lunar Knight Megazord. Hengroen too began to change into its armor form, attaching to the new massive frame of the combined zords. When the combination was complete, a new Megazord which stood nearly twice the size of any of the original Megazords now loomed over the battlefield, the combined strength of all three now surging through the circuits.
“I can’t believe this. Are you seeing these power levels?” Dallas asked.
“They’re off the charts!” Justin answered.
“The Eclipse Ultrazord…unbelievable!” Kyle said.
“Hold on guys, the fight isn’t over yet,” Kelly said as he gestured to the monstrous Morgan le Fay, who was using her powers to channel energy from her castle to grow even stronger.
“She’s going down…” Athena said sternly, who took hold of the controls and drew both the long sword from the Royal King Megazord and the crescent blade from the Lunar Knight Megazord. The crescent blade split in two, and each half of the blade linked to the long sword to double the size of the blade. The reins from Hengroan attached to the handle of the new massive sword, and then the Rangers drew the bow and loaded the weapon into it like a crossbow.
Morgan le Fay wasn’t about to stand still and wait for the Rangers to attack. She lashed out with two tentacle-like appendages, latching on to the Eclipse Ultrazord and beginning to sap its powers and add them to her own. The Rangers were running out of time, as any energy that wasn’t being channeled to the sword was being stolen by Morgan le Fay. They pulled back on the bow, taking careful aim as they knew they would only have one shot at this. The Rangers fired, and the gargantuan sword hurtled through the air at incredible speeds. Morgan le Fay’s eyes widened as she watched the sword fly at her, and she couldn’t release her hold on the Ultrazord in time to escape. The sword shot right through her, leaving a gaping hole directly in her chest. Lightning sparked from her body as she lost control of the energy she had stolen, and she staggered forward to desperately try and steal more of the Power Ranger’s precious energy. She made it two steps before falling to the ground, consumed in a violent explosion that rocked the entire landscape.
The castle of Camlann collapsed, and with it the entire landscape began to fade away. A great light began to shine, and before the Rangers appeared the familiar profile of Merlin the wizard, along with the Lady of the Lake.
“You have fought well my Knights. Your bravery and determination surely knows no bounds,” the Lady said.
“And now, the centuries old battle is finally over, and the souls of your ancestors may finally rest in peace,” Merlin added, “and now, it is time for Camlann to return to the dimension from whence it came, and for yours to be restored to normal.” Merlin said as he spread his arms and closed his eyes, and true to his word the dimension of Camlann faded away, and their world as they knew it was restored to its form from before the battle. Buildings were rebuilt and cement repaved, as if nothing had ever happened. Civilians found themselves freed from their hiding places in trees and caves and returned to their homes safe and sound. The zords all faded away and the Rangers were transported safely back to the center of town, their injuries healed and their powers restored, including Mike who was able to stand on the strength of his own body.
When everything was returned to normal the people of Lakeside emerged from their homes and the buildings and swarmed to the center of the city to congratulate and thank the Power Rangers, even the Black Knight as many witnessed his selfless act to try and save them. The Rangers, including the Black Knight, removed their helmets and looked about to see the city cheering them on, no longer afraid to reveal their identities as the threat was finally gone. The Rangers embraced and celebrated amongst the crowd, especially Athena and Michael who held each other tightly and kissed each other passionately. They could finally return to their lives as normal human beings, free from the constant fear of Morgan le Fay and her constant attacks.
Today was a day for celebration, and the entire city was going to indulge and live their lives, thankful that they all got to see another sunrise.

Epilogue:
In the days after the final battle, the now six Power Rangers were rounded up by the federal authorities so that they could provide answers as to what had happened over the past few months. People around the world had seen footage of the horrific monster attacks and the devastation it had wrought, and everyone wanted security in knowing that the same tragic events would not happen to them. The Rangers, including Landry, cooperated fully, explaining what they could about the enemy they faced, but refused to reveal the identity or the location of the Lady of the Lake and the castle Camelot that laid hidden beneath Lakeside’s lake. The feds were frustrated, but were willing to cooperate with the super powered teenagers who had just saved the world. However, after Landry told the truth about how he originally became the Black Knight after being lied to about the cause of his father’s death, and what he chose to do in order to gain his revenge, the authorities were a little less lenient. He did however detail the time at which he was placed under Mordred’s spell, but even still the fed’s had heard enough. They placed Michael under arrest, and put him on trial for his crimes. Each of the five Rangers testified at the trial, each of them saying that victory would not have been possible were it not for his actions at the final portion of the battle, and that several times when given the opportunity to kill, he refused and sparred dozens of lives. Thanks to their testimony, Mike was only sentenced to five years in prison instead of the death penalty. It was difficult to swallow, but Landry knew what he did was wrong, and was more than willing to pay for what he had done.
After the trial, Justin went to Quantico to join the FBI. After completing his training, he requests a transfer back to his home town of Lakeside where he could try and clean up the crime in the city, as well as keep an eye on the Midnight Marauders and his sister Justine. Justin’s efforts made him a hometown hero and an inspiration for children who grow up in high-risk situations, and he dedicated his spare time and money into funding and volunteering at youth centers around the city.
Once Justin was back from Quantico, he and Dallas got married., and Dallas helped her man out by managing some of the youth centers and teaching classes on how to better your life through the choices you make, and how family and close friends can save your life.
Kyle spent his time with his aunt who lived deep in the forest, keeping her company as he was the only family she had left who would still talk to her. During that time, she taught him the practice of voodoo as it was her only wish to pass on her knowledge to her nephew before she died. Three years after the final battle, Kyle’s Aunty Belle passed away peacefully in her sleep, and Kyle kept her memory alive by living in her home deep in the woods, but maintaining his social life. He preserved all of her trinkets, but made her house his own, happy with the face that he always had his Aunty Belle watching over him.
Athena spent the next four years of her life in college, becoming a nurse so that she could use her natural empathy and love of life to save lives every day. She took two volunteer jobs, one at the hospital as a grief counselor, and one at the prison where Mike was being held so to help the inmates turn their lives around and reenter society with their heads on straight. This also had the added benefit of being able to be with Michael several times a week and help him through his difficult time in prison.
Kelly hit the road right away after he was finished with school, riding across the nation and using his powers to stop criminals that the police and FBI didn’t have the ability to take down. No one was safe from his brand of justice. No one has seen him since. When Mike got out of prison, Athena was waiting for him, and the two were wed only days after. Landry joined Athena at the prison, helping his formerly fellow inmates accept what they had done and turn their lives around. He opened a mixed martial arts training facility, offering free lessons to any child who brought in a good report card. He hired many of the parolees from the prison to offer them a way to reenter society and have a safe, legal, helpful way to earn some money.
The Lady of the Lake saw that her job was finished, and she chose to transport the castle of Camelot back to England where it rightfully belonged. She left the powers she had bestowed upon the Rangers with them, including Landry who was able to retain his Black Ranger powers, just in case a new evil might one day rise up. In which case, she knew that the Power Rangers would be ready and waiting to save the world once again.
