"Yeah, I will do it tomorrow. I have to cover at the library tonight." The fact did make him stress a little, since it was at the library that he had been attacked... But that had been a one-time fluke... Right ?
"I think we all know what will happen if I wait too long..." Indeed. Freaking out, freaking out, more freaking out, and him ultimately not doing it.
He cleared his throat, clearly very aware that he had all but taken over the conversation. "So... What have you been up to ?"

Chris nodded at Daniel's decision, glad that he seemed as though he was actually going to do it. Good, it was better than just thinking about it and then panicking and never doing it.
"Same old," he said with a small shrug. There wasn't much to get excited about. "Uh... I've been seeing someone too," he finally admitted with a weak grin. Of course, it had been almost two years since he and Skye had ended their relationship... or rather, he was the one who'd called it over. "She's nice. At Crystal on scholarship for dance," he said, since yeah, he was a little adverse to Crystal girls for the whole ... incident with his ex.
"Other than that... School, baseball, Annabel... The usual."

"Oh ?" Yes, Daniel was much more comfortable talking about who his friend liked than the other way around. He still thought his own endeavor hopeless, really. "I guess it's the season, then." He said, more than a little amused, as he continued to nibble on his salad.
"That's good then... You deserve to be happy." He said with a grin, and meant every word of what he had just said.

It was good that Daniel didn't voice his concerns out loud then, because Chris would have... probably nagged at him for thinking too lowly of himself again...
Chris shrugged a little, poking at was left of his almost forgotten food. "I guess so. We'll see how it goes," he said, figuring it was best to be realistic about these things, anyway. The last time he'd been in a relationship... well...
"You'll have to tell me all about your date when you go on it, okay? And we're going to be hanging out more. I don't like not knowing how you're doing," he said with another small frown, but it was partially because he felt guilty about them not being around each other at least a few times a week like in high school.

"Yeah, it's probably just better to take it as it comes..." And the same with him and Ume, really.
"I will, I will." He said, with a grin. "And you have permission to kick my a** if a chicken out." Which... was likely, actually.
"Yeah... I don't like losing contact with you either." He admired. Chris was one of the few people in america that he was completely comfortable with. "You know you can call me whenever, right ?"

"You can count on that," he said with a mock frown, although he smiled shortly after, not wanting Daniel to freak out about the possibility of getting his a** kicked. Well, he wanted him to actually ask the girl out so... he was keeping his fingers.
"Well, you better start expecting more calls from me, then," he promised, eating one last piece of fruit before starting to gather everything up on his tray. "Thanks for meeting for dinner," he said, really appreciating the time Daniel took to just stop and hang out with him. Even if it was at the lame cafeteria.

"Anytime !" Well, unless he was at the library. Through, if Chris knew Mister Darrow... Maybe he'd be seeing more of his friend over there ?
"Maybe we'll go to a real restaurant next time." He said, amused, as he finished his own meal. "I have to get ready for tonight, so... I'll keep you updated, yeah ?"

Chris smiled at his friend, moving to put his tray away and taking a few steps towards the door. "Count on it, okay? And good luck! I'll be waiting for your call okay?"
They would definitely have to get together again soon... he would just have to figure out something for them to do. Ah well, he would figure something out eventually. Before they run into each other again, at least.
