This was… This was… This was really no place for Merope at the moment. The size of the boils playing with the explicit ball allowed Merope to very easily (and very clearly) imagine what would happen if he got in their way. He wasn't in any mood to become familiar with the ground at this time. Quickly and quietly Merope turned around. He would be back later.
((exiting, will be back later~))

What was the matter, indeed! Jove could list off a handful of offences, including the creeping, the scaring, the laughing at said scaring, and then... calling him "little one". Cat was one to talk!
Jove stood back to eye the dark boil, for the first time getting a good look at his most recent 'bully'. That one was all creepy grins and ribbons of darkness, but there was no visible sign of whatever it was Jove could sense that put him on edge. That feeling was still strong enough to make the pup want to run over to Seiji, and put a good, strong barrier between himself and Cat, but Seiji was busy, and Jove didn't particularly want to show more of a weakness in front of Seiji's tough guy friends.
Besides, Cat was roughly his own height. And aside from the whole creeper factor, he didn't look like much of a threat. Now that Jove had calmed down somewhat, he could watch the other ghost with more curiosity than hostility. Where was that strange sense of more-ness coming from?

Altair smirked as Nuk started to rough up their recruits, quirking an eyebrow and bending to right their table, flicking the closed card away and taking the chair, flipping it around and straddling it, flicking his tail. He'd watch the big brutes duke it out for now.
He spotted Jove, that cat thing, approaching through the crowd. He bared his teeth a little, glaring at it. He wanted to shoot it a little. As Cat came up behind it, he jerked his head away to watch the boils tussle, impressed by Bul's speed and whistling.
"I think we have our running back," he glanced at Nuk, quirking an eyebrow and his horns, smirking.
Glancing over at Merope as he approached, his eyes flashed, snorting in amusement when the dragon left without so much as a word.

Bul made sure to keep Tro on his feet by giving him a good run around all the booths. His tail was a bit of an obstacle trying his best to keep it from smacking down booth signs and lighter denizens. Eventually he made a jump for it as if it'd bring the horse monster down.

Cat only edged closer at signs of Jove's hesitance and uncertainty, not even beginning to make an attempt at covering his glee. The foxfire was utterly silent, but his eyes were alight with worry and confusion, which was coal to the metaphorical fire.
"Oh, are you mute too?" He was genuinely curious, but dressed it up with a playful tone, "Do you have a little chalkboard, too? Or do you just not like me~?" Underneath his inky black skin the unseen creature licked at it's teeth happily, silently wondering if the pup could sense it wether it moved or not.
Again, Cat resisted the pull of a revoltingly cliche pun.

Jove shook his head with ears folded back, feeling like Cat was still making fun of him. He spoke infrequently at best, but that had been the first thing to set him apart from his foxfire brethren. And he didn't need a little chalkboard. The thought of acquiring one hadn't even crossed his mind, he was comfortable enough with silence and body language, the latter his friends were becoming increasingly adept at reading.
He snorted and let Cat make up his own mind on that whole 'not liking' part. Breaking his silence was not something reserved for friends alone, but the more the other ghost pushed, the more Jove made up his mind to not speak.
He considered going to learn what Seiji was doing with all the running and tackling and ball throwing, but that would mean turning his back on Cat. And whatever it was he just did that Jove couldn't see or figure out. So instead he stood and waited for the boil's next taunt.

Skinwalker effectively tackled or not Seiji rolled back to his feet, watching Bul and Tro for a moment as Altair dubbed the half beast a good running back before a certain familiar bit of blue fluff caught his eye. "Hey Jove." His initial response to the pup was a smile, but a slip a little when he took note of the pup's expression. Dark eyes twitching to the other ghost beside him. Cat.. His lip twitched. Perhaps it bias based on circumstance, or perhaps more, but he wasn't entirely sure he liked the ribbon cut spook.
Tugging his shirt back into place, the jikininki closed the short gap between himself and the other ghosts, placing his human hand on the pup's shoulder. "What's up kid, you thinking of joining Bruteball too?" Not likely. Or rather he hoped that wasn't the case. The pup was fast, there was no denying that, but he wasn't very big, and as it seemed so far the team was going to be comprised of relatively large boils. He'd be mauled.

Relieved to find himself with Seiji's attention once again, he wagged his tail in greeting. He couldn't be a victim to any plots while the taller ghost was around. The pup gave Cat another glance that lacked animosity, and a hint of a tail wag, almost as if saying "Look, Seiji is here! I don't have to be so frightened!"
Jove looked back up at Seiji with a pleased expression, his ears perking at the question. Bruteball? Is that what this booth was for? The little wisp peered over at the ruckus Petro and Bul were stirring up, and the way the ball they were after snarled and cursed. He would have let it go and shook his head, except... Seiji had said "too". Was the older boil going to join the team?
Without giving it another thought, Jove nodded. If Seiji was going to join, the pup would give it a shot as well.

Altair couldn't stand aside any longer as he watched the group coalescing around Jove, watching Bul and Tro for a moment longer before he shouldered up alongside Seiji, noting the boil's assent. The incubus arched an eyebrow high and snorted, laughing. The very idea made him want to find the nearest paintball gun.
"You? We'll see how you hold up during tryouts," Altair rolled his eyes, waving a hand dismissively at Jove and flicking his eyes towards Seiji. This group of ghosts piqued the demon a little bit, flicking his tail in agitation. They'd better be able to hold their own. He turned his back on them, calling to the boils still fighting for control of the ball.
"All right, you snots, come on, this isn't a little p***y game of tag. Let's see some passes," he stepped forward, pounding one fist into the other palm.

With a leap, Petro caught the ball. Or was it more like the ball caught him? Because teeth bit down on fingers but rather than drop the vicious, snarling object, Petro simply snarled back and gave it a hard squeeze. Alright, catching the ball had been relatively easy, shaking Bul off? Not so much. While the tikbalang dodged and wove through booths and students, the red-haired boil continued to chase. Tro wasn't sure what to do next. Was he supposed to just keep running until Bul tackled him or was he supposed to get the ball somewhere or was did he have to keep the ball out of Bul's grasps? Noticing the distance between his pursuer and himself had gotten shorter, Petro turned on his heel, arm snapping back in mimicry of Nukpana, "INCOMING!!!" he yelled just as he hurled the ball straight for Altair. What happened next was Tro getting slammed with a half-beast

Ooh, two friends to play with? Cat could have jumped for joy right then and there. Instead, he settled for widening his sly grin ever more. The little pup seemed more confident now that his friend had arrived, however, despite his obvious concern when he had sensed the movement beneath the ribbons. Without the uncertainty in his eyes, he barely looked annoyed at all.
Ah, but, one step at a time, no?
The unimpressed nature of Seiji's glance certainly did not go unnoticed, either. It was good that he already had some hesitations, but Cat was going to have to play it awfully safe with this one. Not only could he probably hurt him, being some sort of Ghost as well, he was also one of Aislin's very close friends.
"Fancy seeing you here~" Play it cool. "The kid and I were just shooting the breeze. Or, I was. He doesn't seem to fond of talking, does he?" Play it safe.

Ulmuka wandered up to the gathering, in guise of a booth, of the macho-est of the macho at Amityville. It was a stark contrast from the males who served at the Host booth from which he'd come.
The strix stood very still at the edge of the gathering and observed. He noted a few of the faces he'd seen before. He was trying to decipher what was going on but he was not one who was very keen with the nuances of emotion.
Muka did not look like someone who was here for sport. Not with his perfectly pressed clothing and his white dress shoes. His build was lanky and long and did not look at all to be strong. He had a nice set of wings but there was nothing else going for him.
He'd never played sports at home. Games? Yes. He loved games. Sports? Not really.
He noticed Cat involved in a conversation with a very cute small ghost, he could smell mist and chewed leather, and a larger boil that Aislin had been hanging off of in the library. He drifted closer, almost like he was stalking them, but he was not shy about it and stared intently at the whole group of them with his unnerving golden eyes.
Subtlety also was not a strong suit.

Her eyes sparkled. Her tail flicked with excitement. She positively vibrated with barely contained exuberance.
Cady found the bruteball booth.
Up until this point, her Open House trip had been pretty uneventful- sure, there had been a lot of fun and games, but there had also been a distinct lack of the kind of physical activity the ghoul really enjoyed. After all, manticore were not generally known for their prose or knitting. She'd played a few sports in her time, but it was mostly along the lines of Kick the Bucket Around Outside Until Gladys Thinks I've Done My Chores. But that was ok. What she lacked in skill, she would make up for in spirit.
To her dismay, it looked like some of the boils were already playing. She recognized the skinwalker from the Desu booth, although she hadn't gotten his name. She watched, mouth open, as one horned boil threw the snarling ball to another. Who were these people? Why was a game ball snarling? Had it just bit that guy? These were all questions a normal boil or ghoul might ask themselves, before wading out into an battlefield they knew nothing about. Unfortunately for the Bruteball booth, Cady was not a normal ghoul. Without thinking (in typical fashion), she rushed forward - hardly even noticing Cat as she brushed past him and a smaller boil - to the area they'd cleared with their rough-housing. She wanted to get in the game, so to speak, and she only knew one way that was sure to get the other boils' attentions.
Cady didn't know the rules, but she was pretty sure that most games with balls like that involved throwing yourself bodily at people. Right? So without further ado, She entered the fray, flinging herself at Altair in what she hoped looked like a proper Tickle. Tackle? Whatever.
After all, you went for the guy with the ball, right? Right.

Jove wrinkled his nose at Altair. Why would he not be able to play as well as any of them? The pup may have been a fast learner, but as of yet he hadn't realized bruteball usually required a much more durable physique than his own, and it was among the most physically punishing sports amongst the high school sports selection.
Cat got another little scowl, it seemed any comments on Jove's lack of speech were off limits until he was in the pup's good graces. But the other ghost was spared from further reaction when Jove noticed a taller boil looking at them oddly. Staring, actually, with big yellow eyes... The pup turned and gave Seiji a worried look, hoping his bigger friend was prepared to defend them against TWO strange creepy boils.
It was then when Jove caught sight of the bruteball being thrown through the air, his fluffy ears perking to listen to it's incessant stream of swearing and cursing. He glanced towards the ball's catcher just as he was tackled by a... cat ghoul with wings and a weird tail. If Altair was occupied, who was going to catch the ball? Someone had to catch the ball, right?!
Although he was tempted to just let Altair get hit in his stupid demon head if he couldn't shrug off the ghoul in time, he didn't want to leave the ball uncaught. Perhaps the impulse was entirely due to a lingering attachment from his past life, but Jove couldn't resist darting over and leaping up to catch the snarling, biting ball midair.
Perhaps it wasn't the best idea, as the ball was large for his tiny hands, and when he cradled it against his body the nasty ball chomped hard on a mouthful of his fingers. He yipped, and flung the ball off. Right in Cat's direction.

As Jove intercepted the peculiar ball Ulmuka started to clap and laugh. Well it was more of a screeching cackle laced with a peculair hissing noise that came from between those wicked looking teeth of his. "Fantastic!" He let out a call to the boil but it seemed nothing more than what a fan would do at a good game.
"Watch out!" As the ball clamped onto Jove's hand Ulmuka couldn't help another giggle. He shouldn't be laughing really but he had a peculiar sense of humor and sometimes viewed the world as if it were a bit of a site gag put there just for him.
He did move closer to the group in an attempt to perhaps involve himself in conversation.
