"Yep, that's exactly what I mean to tell you." Riyo added with a little smile, ignoring his hurtful words and pretending they were nicer ones. She didn't get her feelings hurt near as much that way.

She couldn't help but take a small step back when she noticed the elder vampire looked like he was about to explode.

Once again, thank God for Claire...

Letting out a small sigh as he saw the little girl walk in, Jess smiled at her and draped an arm around his daughter's shoulder. "C'mon. We've got some unpacking to do." No way he was taking the moving decision back now. There was mischief to make.

Removing the silly hat from his head, Jess gently sat it atop Claire's as he passed. "It'll be okay." Riyo said softly to the little girl as they made their way to the door, though her eyes shot back to Klyde. What was he going to do now?

Vince moved to the side to allow Jess and Riyo to pass, his eyes rather intense as he watched them leave. Claire did not share the same look though. She looked rather sadly at the two, touching the hat as Jess set it on her head.

"Bye..." She said softly trying to nod as Riyo reassured her. It was hard to feel like everything was going to be okay. When her father usually told someone to get out she never saw them again. But then again...they did live next door now. Maybe she could sneak over to their house to play.

Klyde watched Riyo and Jess leave first to make sure his father wouldn't pull anything. When they were safely out of the room he made to follow. He wasn't going to stick around if he could help it. The young vampire had just made it to the door when Vince reached up to grab the back of his neck and pull him back. The grip he had was strong and actually hurt quite a bit.

"Gah!" Klyde had a startled noise as he stumbled back until his father brought him to a stop right next to him.

"And where they hell do you think you're going?" Vince hissed.

"Not staying here..." Klyde managed to push out.

Coming up close so that he could speak with his son more privately while their 'guests' were still in the house, Vince spoke with malice in his voice. "You are grating on my last nerve. I forbid you to see that girl and not only do you disobey me but you brought her into this house. I have half a mind to throw you out on your a**."

"That would be the third time this year. That would be a family record I think." Klyde tried to joke but it certainly didn't bring the laughter out of Vince. No, it only made the elder vampire more angry as he shoved Klyde up against the door frame.

"You've only remained in this house because your mother throws a fit, but not this time. You're on thin ice Klyde, you would do well to listen because right now you're not getting anything from this family until you come to your senses."

"Daddy...are you mad at Klyde?" Claire asked looking worried.

"Go to the game room, Claire." Vince ordered.

"But..."

"Now."

With her head held low Claire did as her father told her moving back down the hall so she could go downstairs to the game room.

Riyo had just turned around to watch where she was going... When Klyde let out a cry and disappeared from behind them. "Klyde?" Riyo called, fully ready to go back in there and try to save him...

But Jess stopped her. "You really shouldn't." He said softly, continuing to lead her down the stairs.

"But!" Riyo started as she looked back to her father.

"Do you want to make it worse?" It wasn't that he didn't understand at this point, and normally he wouldn't care to get in a scuffle, but there were some things that needed to be handled in the family.

"... No... I don't..." But she always seemed to do just that. Make it worse. This WAS her idea, after all... "... I feel terrible now.."

"Well...I guess I'm getting nothing then," Klyde finally spoke up when he could no longer hear the sound of Claire's footsteps. "I'm not changing my mind." Klyde could tell he was on unstable ground by the rhythm of twitching his father's eye was doing and the hand gripping his shirt.

Vince's eyes looked enraged but he closed them and took a deep breath. When he reopened them there was a sort of calm to his features once again which made Klyde more worried than the previous expression. "You'll learn to regret that decision." Vince said smoothly. "One week."

"What?" Klyde questioned.

"You have one week to get your things out of my house."

Klyde looked only mildly surprised. His father had given him 'dead lines' before but nothing this soon.

"You really expect me to find a place while I'm going to school?"

"That's not my problem. That's yours."

"So what are you two talking about?" Klyde looked over to see his mother standing not far off. Apparently his family had a knack for silently showing up at opportune moments.

"About my apparent banishment..." Klyde offered a short explanation hoping it would be enough.

Ginger sighed. This was a fight waiting to happen, it was one they had had before. She wasn't looking forward to it after just getting home.

"Klyde, why don't you run along for now so that I can speak to your father." Ginger's voice was cold, much colder than it had been around Riyo and Jess.

"There's nothing to talk about, I have made my decision," Vince spat which only earned him a rather evil looking glare from his wife. After a moment he let Klyde go and the youth was finally able to straighten out his clothes. "Don't think you're going to get off easily..." Vince warned.

Klyde didn't reply, instead he headed out the door and down the hall to follow Riyo and Jess. They had gotten a bit of a head start on him but he could catch up. He didn't want to stay in the house any longer than he had to at the moment.

Riyo and her father had just managed to exit the McBane residence when the sounds of footsteps caught both of their sensitive ears.

Immediately turning around, Riyo was both frightened and relieved to see Klyde following after them. What had his father said to him? "Are you okay?" She asked softly, eyes full of worry.

Jess could've opened his mouth to say some nasty things. He could've reamed Klyde before Riyo ever said a word... But he didn't.

"Looks like we've got another recruit to help us unpack." He still didn't like the fact that there was a blood-sucking leech hanging around his daughter... But... He could sympathize with the kid a little bit more. He knew what it was like to have an a*****e father. "C'mon then."

Klyde looked to Riyo with a sense of relief to have caught up with her before she left. "Y..yeah. I'm fine." There was no need to go into detail about what his father had said. With any luck his mom would take care of it, despite how he felt like a spoiled little momma's boy for having her fight his battles.

Turning to Jess Klyde was actually surprised to hear the words coming out of his mouth. W..was that an invite? "Y..yeah, coming." Nodding he followed behind the older feline staying in step with Riyo as they made their way back over to their new house.

Riyo couldn't deny she was a little surprised by her father's words as well, considering he always made a point to say how Klyde wasn't good for her at all and she was so pretty that she could find a billion guys better than him... Which really wasn't true. Maybe they were finally making progress?

... She wouldn't hold her breath on it.

Making their way back to the house, Jess noticed the movers sitting out on the large porch with beers in their hands.

"... Having a good time?" He asked them, obviously displeased.

"Hey man, we got all the boxes unloaded. We're no interior designamacators. Gotta go to school for that." One of the bigger men said as he took another sip of his ice cold beverage.

"Lovely..." As Jess pulled out his wallet, the gaggle of movers seemed to stand at attention, like dogs with a slab of meat.

Carefully, the rock star pulled out the amount previously agreed to and handed it to the main man in charge... Who was incidentally the smallest.

"What about a tip?" The small man asked with a raised eyebrow.

This seemed to anger the feline. "Here's a tip: Don't drink beer on my porch, you assholes."

Unsatisfied by the response, but not willing to complain, the movers sneered as they took their cooler back to the truck and left... With a couple empty beer cans still there. That's what Jess got for trying to have sympathy for lower tiered workers...

"Right, well. In we go."

The door itself was a beautiful dark oak with a stained glass window on the front, while the inside was full of much the same. Dark oak floors. And a ******** ton of space.

Riyo seemed to be in awe as she looked around the almost empty room, unsure of what to do. It was like putting a betta fish in a 40 gallon tank. ".. T-there's so much space." She mumbled, her jaw unable to close.

"And it's all yours... Except two rooms. But considering there's like 10 or 12 I don't see that being a problem." Her father pointed out as he started walking around. The wallpaper was a little bland... But that was easily fixed. "This is about as nice as my beach house.."

"T... T-T-ten or twelve?!" If her jaw could drop any lower, it would be unhinged. "... I don't know where to start..."

Klyde silently watched the interaction between the movers and Jess. He was still trying to process the s**t that was probably going down back at his house so his mind wasn't completely with it at the moment.

When they finally went inside Klyde took in the surroundings curiously. While he wasn't as in awe over the size of the place he had actually never seen the inside of it. The people that had lived here previously weren't exactly social. "It's a nice place." Klyde commented looking over the dark oak interior.

He was rather amused with Riyo's reaction to the whole thing though, a faint smile tugging at his mouth. She was often rather cute when she wasn't even trying. "Do you want to look around your new place before you start moving things where you want them? You probably need to pick out a bedroom right?"

"Yeah... I guess so."

Grabbing Klyde's hand, Riyo walked around like a kid in a candy store. Everything had to be looked at. The kitchen was HUGE The living room was HUGE. WITH A FIREPLACE. The pool was HUGE.

Wait... Indoor pool?

"T-there's an indoor pool!" She couldn't help but shout. "... And a jacuzzi!" Her voice echoed through the whole room. What was better was that there was only one window. It was... It was private! "********!"

Continuing onward, she peeked into the bedrooms. They... Were all as big as her and Mitsu's dorm room. This was ridiculous.

But instead of settling for one downstairs, she climbed up to take a peek at the one's on the second floor. Finally, at the end of the hallway, she decided. "... I like this one!" The room itself was just as large as the others. Only this one included a nice bathroom. With any luck, she would barely ever have to leave her room. "I can live in here!" There was a big smile on her face, until she realized something.

"... It's... Really big."

For the longest time, she'd been used to a small room where she could practically touch all four sides just by stretching her arms. It was very comforting to her. But looking at this one, she realized how spacious and almost cold it would be, especially since she wouldn't have a room mate.

The house... Was so huge. Maybe too huge.

Silently, she moved around the room, trying to figure out how she could live with this... Until her eyes settled on the closet door.

Peeking in, she sighed with relief. "I'll sleep here."

Klyde kept pace with Riyo stifling a chuckle here and there as the moved along. Every room was a bigger and better surprise. "I think we can get some use out of the jacuzzi." Klyde mused.

Following Riyo upstairs he patiently went with her into every room as she scooped them out trying to pick the right one. When she finally settled on one he smiled though it seemed her joy in her decision was short lived. He had no idea what was going through her mind at that moment to make her face fall but he was even more confused when she walked to the closet and said she would sleep there.

"S..Sleep in the closet?" Klyde sounded a little shocked. "I'm sure Jess will buy you stuff to make the room really nice, you don't have to sleep in the closet." The idea that she would hide away in such a tiny space upset him for some reason, he really wasn't sure why.

When Klyde seemed appalled at the idea, Riyo withdrew her head and frowned, looking a little ashamed.

"... It's just... It's so big... I'm used to sleeping with company or in small places.. So..." Living glamorously was definitely something she'd never been introduced to. "This closet is about as big as where I slept at mom's house. I felt safe because I could feel all the walls and know exactly where I was at all times..." That and if anybody was coming, she could feel it.

Now that she thought about it, the whole thing was kinda embarrassing. He was used to living in places like this... She was so used to the small is cozy mentality that wrapping her head around a huge space was too much.

"... I'm gonna go grab my stuff."

The look on her face when she withdrew from the closet made Klyde feel like an a**. He was really good about saying the wrong thing at times. And the reason behind why she wanted to sleep in the closet, the fact that she had grown up that way, it twisted his insides. Was he really so blindly spoiled to not notice that not everyone lived in comfort...or what he thought of as comfort. Apparently Riyo saw comfort in tiny confined spaces.

Reaching out to gently grab her arm as she got up, Klyde tried to stop her before she could leave. "H..hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk. I just figured...you have a new life now and you don't live with your mom anymore." It would be a good chance to start over wouldn't it?

Riyo's feet immediately stopped moving as she felt his cold, gentle touch take hold of her arm, knowing full well that he was right.

"It's just... Sometimes it seems surreal. The fact that I don't have to worry about her anymore." At first it hadn't been much different at all. She'd still have nightmares about the woman almost nightly. Slowly but surely though, Anne had started to disappear from the dark corners and painful places she always used to occupy in her mind... Until seeing her was few and far between.

That didn't mean Riyo had no fear for her anymore. No, she was still the most terrifying thing in the young girl's mind. "I'll just need some time to get used to this, I guess." It was like a toddler transitioning from a crib to a bed. No security on either side, and slightly intimidating.

"Oh Riyooo." Her father called, the sound of his footsteps ascending the stairs echoing back into her room. "I could only find two boxes marked yours. I don't know where those idiots put the other ones."

As Jessee seemed to pinpoint where they were, the steps got closer. "That's okay I-"

"Ohh, not a bad choice. It's even got it's own bathroom." With two boxes under his arms, Jess walked into the room and looked around, carefully setting the parcels on the floor.

"Those are the only boxes." Riyo was finally able to say. She couldn't take all of her stuff back here... But that was most of it.

Jess slowly began to process this, looking back and fourth from the boxes to his daughter. "B-but... Only two?" He asked as if in disbelief. "You can't fill this room with those two little boxes!"

"No kidding. But I can ma-"

"Oh no, young lady." Her father interrupted as he usually did. "Tomorrow... We go shopping. And this room better be filled with nice things!" It was a teasing threat, but something that Riyo didn't appreciate anyways. It was like he was trying to buy her affection... "Whatever..." She finally responded. "Why don't you go unpack your own stuff..."

"I already did~"

Considering 'his own stuff' was all the other boxes, this was a little unbelievable...
PostPosted: Wed May 25, 2011 5:30 pm

Klyde's expression softened. She was still struggling with the memories of her mother even though she was long gone from the picture. "I'll be here to help you along the way. Don't forget."

The young vampire realized he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box but he could offer support and comfort. He could at least be good at something.

Turning slightly when he heard Jess coming toward the room, Klyde's hand slipped down to take hold of Riyo's. He was a little curious too on the two boxes but he knew Riyo didn't have a lot of things....especially if she used to sleep in a closet. And a lot of stuff was probably back at the dorms as well.

Looked like Riyo wasn't going to have much of a choice on whether she was going to fill her room with stuff or not. No doubt if Jess went shopping with her the feline was going to be in spending overload. Klyde was slowly learning the value of a budget with Riyo's help....so he had no idea what she would do when a budget didn't exist.

"You....already unpacked?" Klyde seemed in disbelief as well. There had been a ton of other boxes, there was no way Jess had put those all away by himself.

She wouldn't forget... That was one thing that kept her going, along with the kindness of her real friends and a sliver of hope for the future.

... Not so much the idiocy of her father.

As Klyde took her hand, Riyo gave it a gentle squeeze. "We'll see about that."

Leading Klyde out of her room and towards the stairs, Riyo raised an eyebrow as she looked down from the second floor.

"Are you ******** kidding me?"

Yeah. Everything was 'unpacked' alright. Strewn all over the house in no particular orderly fashion. The couch was sitting near the kitchen, the TV was on the floor in the middle of the living room, decorative items were tossed about everywhere.

"Hey, watch your language, young lady..." Not that he could say that seriously. "I'm a man. I don't do decorating. And besides, my ideas are very conventional. The couch is by the kitchen so I can sit down comfy right after I eat."

Riyo seemed upset by the way he'd thrown all of the items in the house about. She may not have lived in big quarters, but all of her things were always organized in a neat and clean looking way. "Did all your old houses look this way?"

"They sure did." Jess said proudly, though seemed to falter when Riyo released Klyde's hand and started marching around and 'fixing' everything.

"W-what're you doing?"

"I'm fixing this." Riyo pointed out as she pushed the couch into the living room.

"But... Then I won't know where everything is!" Really? He was complaining about this?

"Tough s**t. I'm not living in a pig sty."
