"Very touching... Its always nice to see the peers you thought were gone forever," She sounded more amused than sarcastic, really, as she practically strolled into the room, phone in hand. It was unknown how long she had been there, but she wasn't acting like she was late. Walking over to the table, she took the pen and wrote down 'Ariane Brown - Beta Seven' as she leaned over the table. When that was done, she straightened up and walked over to Bix and Before.

Grinning, she placed her arms over both guys before leaning in so that her head appeared between them, "Missed me?" She couldn't help laughing straight after - the two black sleep of her group survived this test? How ironic is that?

"Ariane Brown, formally known as Beta Seven," Her grin grew as she straightened up to address everyone in the room, "Feel free to call me Ariane. Actually, I would prefer if you call me Ariane."

Truth.

The word sounded odd coming from a girl who had previously known to believe in the magical properties of an ear of corn, but that was just another distinction between this world and the other. Holding the gaze of those curiously golden eyes, Scott allowed himself to be comforted, as he usually was, by the mention of truth. At the very least, it reaffirmed the fact that Hanna Nowicki was not Hermione and that he was not Zeta Eleven, even if Robert Morris was still kind of an idiot. It temporarily quieted the dissenting cries in his own head, and Scott took full advantage of the brief moment of mental silence.

“I’d rather you didn’t,” he said, the frown etched in the corners of his lips easing only slightly. “But who’s to say I’m not an Asian wizard?” Scott tried not to look at the streaks of ink running down the girl’s cheeks, but the more he did the more he found himself wondering if it was some sort of gang thing. Such a petite thing looked incapable of busting anything in anyone’s asses. “Everything still seems very up in the air at the moment. I’d wait a few days before making any permanent conclusions.”

Scott’s head snapped with Hanna’s, the drama of years of unrequited love unfolding before them... in the middle of a classroom. Between two people who had days ago been nothing more than phantoms in masks, trying to rationally discuss how best to deal with a mysterious ticking noise before they had all ended up knee deep in blood. He briefly wondered if any amount of adjusting would ever make this feel okay moments before deciding that no, it would not.

The sincerity in Hanna’s voice caught him off guard, though at the breaking of her serious façade Scott attempted to play off the shock in his face as equally jovial. Once again that dreadful sense of familiarity crept over him. She may have no longer been trying to cast spells on him, but there was that same sense of theatricality to her, as if in her eyes they were still all characters fulfilling the roles in some fantastical story. Still so very meta.

“Not everyone can be a protagonist. Some of us must always be relegated to… how did you put it? Supporting cast, sunshine.”

Before was grateful for the help, but he was more grateful to find a familiar face, sorta, seeing as how he never really knew what Bix looked like up until that moment. He eased himself into the chair beside Bix, he hoped Candace or Gail (Before ought to re-read the list to realize he'd been misspelling the other Beta's name) wouldn't think he had bailed on them. It's just, well, IT WAS BIX!!! And he was okay! Better than okay! He had made it and Before and Thor and Bee's deaths hadn't been in vain and were those tears welling in Before's eyes?

Mmmmmmaaaaaaaaaaaybe...

"Yeah, I'd like it if you keep calling me Before. My real name's just lame," he frowned :C Whatever else he might have said about his former identity was overshadowed by the drama unfolding before them between the other survivors. "It's like we're in some sorta soap opera. I get dibs on production crew!" he joked to Bix.

Just then, a couple more girls arrived. Now that his fellow Beta mentioned it, the girls here were really cute. Not that he'd consider anything since, well, he was Milton after all. He had a hard enough time believing people liked him, let alone like-like him. (Like-like? Really? What are you, twelve?) So he was all set to pretend he didn't exist when he heard that voice, felt that arm on him, and saw her grin, Before couldn't help but finally let out a sob and just hug both Bix and Boss. "BOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!" He wailed, ignoring the fact she'd wanted them to call her by that name that was her name but didn't sound as appropriate to Before.

"Boss? I mean.. Ariane.." He smiled happily until the awkwardness set in. It was mostly started by Before tugging them into a 3 way hug. He wrapped his arms around the other guy and also around Ariane but he patted them, awkwardly, when it clicked that Ariane was... uh... cute too.

"The gang's all here." He pulled out of the hug slowly and pushed his white bangs from his eyes. He adjusted his braid a bit so it wouldn't hit the ground. He happened to like his hair, kthnx. His eyes darted up and down from her face. Yep. Cute girl. One that liked to boss him around. A string of ex-girlfriends ran through his mind. BE STRONG!

He gulped and looked around the room and did his best to remember and register everyone's names. Of course he wouldn't forget the most important two. "I think some of these people knew each other before all this.."

Hanna still had a smile in her eyes when Petra turned to face them. Just as the blue-eyed girl had felt her golden stare, Hanna felt Petra's and turned to glance at her. She smiled blandly, saying nothing. She had good vibes about this one, even if Robert was a little loud and showy for her tastes. She didn't want to make an enemy out of her.

More bodies poured into the classroom now. So many of the group seemed to be the loud, excitable type -- or perhaps these were just the ones grabbing Hanna's attention. Her eyes flickered around the room, always settling back toward Scott. So long as Harry Potter wasn't there, it would seem that Hermione and Cho were gal pals.

Another Phoenix sprang up -- good god, were they falling from the ceiling? Did the entire Alpha team make it back? So far, Hanna didn't recognize anyone from the Etas... not that she had really spent time with, well, any of them. Hanna had joined up with Gamma Three and that was that. And then Zeta Eleven/Cho Chang... who was actually just Scott Thompson -- and hey, he was sort of clever too.

"I have no intention of being supporting cast in my own life," she said quickly. "Hopefully they give us some requirements or guidelines. I work well when expectations are clear. Then I can exceed them." Not Hermione? Well, there were still some pretty Hermione-esque things about her.

Several seats away, Milton started screaming. Hanna widened her eyes and then looked back to Scott, whispering, "Why do they all have to scream?" She felt like she was back in high school on the first day of school -- wait a second, how old were some of these people? Golden eyes flickered between the newcomers. Ariane was also Boss? Milton was also Before? Hanna just wanted to be Hanna. She spent her time on the island having no idea who she was and pretending to be somebody else -- ******** yes she wanted to be Hanna, just Hanna.

"Oof!" A week ago, she would have shoved a hugging Before to the ground, but now, she merely hesitated for a moment before hugging back, although she was careful not to let any of his... Bodily fluids get on her. Patting him on his back before prying herself from the hug and patting him on the top of his head, she grinned again, "I take that as a yes."

She stroked her chin before turning to Bix, an eyebrow raised, "Indeed... Something about Phoenix Squad? Heh, we didn't have a fancy name like that, did we?" Giving Bix a pat on the top of his head, she then pulled out the chair beside his, flopping down in it like a boss and then eying the long long long hair both of her companions have.

"... So, you guys compensating for something with that?" She grinned, gesturing at Before's ponytail, and then at Bix's braid.

Gale was beginning to feel significantly out of place during the whole meeting so far. For one thing, he had no idea what this whole "phoenix squad" thing was referring to, but it seemed as if at least half of the people in here were a part of it, whatever it was. He turned his head towards Before, lifting a mildly amused brow.

"Ah, I see you remember the nickname you gave me," Gale said with a grin and let his shoulders rise and fall in a casual shrug. "And I...don't remember. I came back to the field for a bit, but then I headed towards the town and fell down a chasm. Er, or something to that effect. Then I wound up here." He gestured lazily around the room. "Along with you guys, it seems."

Another girl had joined them - this one slender and pretty, with pale brown hair pulled back. She walked with an air of easy confidence, and when she scrawled her name on the paper, Gale couldn't help but lean forward to try and read what it said. The paper was upside down, but he could make out "uǝʌǝs ɐʇǝq - uʍoɹq ǝuɐıɹɐ" before it was slipped to the next person. It took him a moment to decipher it - Ariane Brown - Beta Seven. Ah, yes, Gale remembered her - not her real name, of course, but he remembered Beta Seven. She had been the one to take charge most of the time. He was not entirely certain that she remembered him whatsoever - after all, he had been, somewhat regrettably (though Gale did not really believe in regrets) a bit separate from the group. However, he offered Ariane a smile and lifted his hand in greeting.

"Yo, Boss," he said, taking the nickname from the two (former) Betas near him (though he hoped it wouldn't be too forward of him). "Nice to see you again."

"I don't know, like, why, exactly," Madison said in reply to Alpha One - no, Jordan. She sobered a little, some of the sudden manic excitement bleeding out of her. "I guess I was good enough? Or something?"

The words A-Nine floated across the table, and Madison whirled yet again, her gaze fixing this time on a pink-haired girl with pigtails - the girl whose hand she'd held as they went through the door. "It's you! I'm - you're - oh get over here," she demanded, holding one hand out in the girl's direction. Yes, the strength of her smile was definitely hurting her face now.

Robert's grin faltered when he heard what could have possibly been the most heartbreaking words ever. In fact, if he could take any words out of the english dictionary, it would be those six. Just strike them out, so that sentence could have never been uttered by her pretty lips.

.. Except, he couldn't really strike out the name Robbie. So just the first five words, would do.

He finally looked back down at her with a fierce determination in his bright gaze. "Whose hand did I hold when we walked off to die, Pet. Was it Robbie's? Huh? Who was it?"

He lifted her hand, and kissed the back of it gently, before letting it go with a whisper. "It was you."

He backed away to let her think about that for a moment, and hoped to whatever God there was that the last moment they'd shared together would mean something. He'd made the right choice, for once. He wouldn't let it be forgotten.

"OI." He called out to Maddie and Jordan, now joined by yet another Phoenix member. "You know who needs more hugs? THIS GUY. RIGHT HERE." He smacked his chest and moved to grab all three of them in his arms, swinging them around in a bear hug. Then he turned to all the others in the room, and shook a finger in them.

"I got hugs for all you weirdos if you're jealous. I see you hatin'." His carefree grin broke across his face easily.

Good enough - the words made Jordan flinch, just a little; maybe noticeable, maybe not. "******** good enough," he said, his voice going rough. "How about we made it?" His eyes stung, a little, but he wasn't going to cry, not in front of everyone, and not in front of his team - sure, they were all on the same side now, all together, but his Phoenixes - A-Seven had given them that name, but they'd all adopted it, and it was theirs. He'd made a promise during the test, when none of them had known anything but surviving and taking care of their own, and he wasn't about to break that now.

"A-Nine," he called to the other girl, the one who'd declared herself, then hesitated. "You did your best. Come on, okay?" He'd make friendships with the others later, the ones who hadn't been his own. But right now, he didn't care. His friends, his team. That came first.

The big guy, the one that A-Two had been hugging, who'd come over to join them - he couldn't be anyone but A-Seven; Jordan recognized that now, the guy's height, his stance and arrogant confidence; it couldn't be anyone else. "Hey, man," he grinned. "Knew you'd be here." Which - well. None of them had known anything, and he hadn't known what'd be next, if anything, past that door - but if he was here, alive and ready to fight, then A-Seven should dang well be here too.

"Ahhh!" Ennéa pointed a gleeful finger at the other girl. "It's you! It's yoooou!" She bounded up from her chair to her teammate's side. She paused for a moment, looking at the smiling face, "Er... A-Two, right?" she guessed. Ennéa then grinned and gave the other girl a hug. "It's a little hard going by voices, after all." she said.

She then yelped as another person whomped into her back, squeezing her against A-Two. It was the punchy guy. Now that he wasn't looking forlorn and slumped against the wall, Ennéa kind of recognized that swagger. She twisted around to look at him. "A-Seven?" she guessed.

If that was A-Seven, then... she looked at the other man also scooped up onto the group hug. "Boss?" she asked eagerly.

This was kind of a fun guessing game. Ennéa looked around to see if she could guess any of her other teammates.

"Oh...?" The boy addressing her did not have a familiar voice, and it took her a while to recall his introduction. When she did, however, she broke into a grin, "Beta Four... Or would you prefer Gale? Heh, I killed someone to avenge your death in the cornfield~ Its good to see you in one piece." Yes, that was the only thing she remembered about him. The first to fall in the cornfield.

"Heh, haters gonna hate, big man," She turn turned to grin at the man - uh, let's see... Robert according to his intro - when he addressed them, before pushing the chair towards Bix so that she could put her arm over his shoulder casually, "But no, seriously. Appreciate the thought, but do continue with the crying and hugging of your own teammates first. Its nice to watch. We can get acquainted later."

They went through one week of the same hell after all, that made them sort of comrades. Sort of.

"We made it," Madison echoed quietly, proudly, a little awed.

Then A-Nine was hugging her, and she turned to hug back, laughing as they were all swept up into A-Seven's arms - no, Robert's arms. "Yeah, yeah, I'm A-Two... but, like, call me Madison, okay? That's my name." And that was who she really was. Madison.

She was going to reshape it - reshape herself - to be the person she wanted to be. The person she'd always wanted to be under everything, now that everything had been forcibly stripped away.

... And. Right. There were other people in here. Robert's call reminded her. Hopefully they had found their friends too. Mostly. Madison straightened a little and smoothed at her clothing once more - the action totally in vain.

"Did you guys, like... did you have a funny dream before you woke up? About weapons and things?" She raised her voice, asking the question loud enough that everyone could hear. If she concentrated, she could almost still feel the hilts of the swords she'd imagined up in her hands... and when she did that, her hands felt almost achingly empty. Like she was missing something crucial.

She didn't look at him, knowing the look on his face could have probably crushed the spirit of even the hardest of people, even if they didn't know him at all. And she did. She knew exactly how he was looking at that exact moment, the pain in his eyes that years of theatre couldn't hide from her, making her feel worse than if she'd just kicked a cannon cat. Even without looking, it was hard for her not to feel the guilt edging into her conscious, particularly as she felt him lift her hand, his lips brushing gently against her knuckles. In the back of her mind, she tried to argue that he might have held Robbie's hand, if she'd been there. She tried to argue that he didn't even know he was holding her hand when they'd walked through the door, that he could have said those things he'd said to anyone else and not been any the wiser. But she knew he hadn't, and it made the guilt all the worse, so much so she completely looked away from Hanna, dropping her eyes for a second as his fingers slipped from her own, waiting until she heard the heavy steps of his boots walking away before she looked after him, reaching up to clutch her elbows, suddenly remembering why she had decided to act like a member of the Borg. (The Borg reference made sense now.)

... ******** Hanna and Scott one last glance, she forced herself to turn completely away from the table to follow Robert back to where another member of Phoenix (she assumed -- she'd missed that part,) had appeared, sliding in with the rest of the group. As interested as she was to speak with her, she would have plenty of time to approach the molten amber-eyed girl later. She wasn't an expert on social etiquette (by ANY means, that was a laugh,) but she had a sneaking suspicion that randomly interjecting into their conversation for no apparent reason other than the fact that the serious, determined stare of the girl had intrigued her would have been a serious faux pas. Instead, she moved a little stiffly to stand next to Robert as the others chatted, looking over new lavender-haired girl for a moment with interest.

"It's good to see you One. Nine," she offered, not quite sure if she should be attempting a hug or not. On one hand, she certainly didn't want them to think she wasn't happy to see them -- she did realize how she came across. On the other hand... her hugging... there was no way that was not going to be awkward and a mood killer.

Bix was a littl stiff under Ariane's arm. Partly because of the OMGGIRLS thing but mostly because of her crack at his hair. He had no come back or witty retort. Instead he packed on a grumpy expression and played a bit with the end of his braid. It was a nervous habit.

"Hey Gale.. Come on over.." He wasn't far away but it was reassuring, in a new place with new people, to feel like you had someplace to belong. They may have only been Betas in some fantasy murder game, but it was enough of a connection to cling to right now.

Bix couldn't really find his voice to talk to the others. He wasn't particularly shy but if he felt out of place, he stayed out of it. Even though Robert seemed boisterous, good looking and rather popular.. (JEALOUS).. the soap opera-like scene had been enough for Bix to be a bit intimidated.
