Psyche glared at Rui. "Why should I listen to you? You're always telling me not to do stuff. You're not my father." She was going to say more when a smell she wasn't too thrilled to smell reached her thanks to the wind. And added to Rui's stance...He was serious and she was in serious trouble. Psyche was just a female, recently reaching adulthood. She couldn't fight a bear. With an 'EEP', Psyche stood up and quickly made her way down the cliff. She could deal with listening to Rui....this one time.

Rui pawed the ground. "Get behind me, in the trees." He could tell the bear was getting closer. If he had to he would fight the bear, he had something not to many other foxes had. Sharp antlers that could shread that bear to bits. He snorted and was prepaired for anything that could happen.

"But Rui! You could get hurt! We don't need to stick around here. Let's find somewhere else to go. We could very well have simply been by a cave of cubs. If we go away the bear might not attack us." Was Rui really going to fight the bear? Yes he had the antlers on his head but...He was a fox, not another bear or another animal that could hurt the bear.

Rui took a look around. "Ok then... Lets go before anymore happens." He nudged her away from the lake. "If you want to come back then we are going to have to wait." He made sure she was ahead of him before he went himself. He made sure they were safe before he alouwed them to stop. "We should be ok here." Rui calmed down abit and caught his breathe. "Are you ok?"

Psyche sat down once Rui decided they were a relatively safe distance away. "Yes." She looked in the direction they came. For once she wasn't minding Rui's protectiveness. She had been oblivious to the fact a bear was nearby until Rui mentioned for her to get down. She sighed. "If that was a cave then I doubt we'll be able to go there again." She looked at the ground and pawed at it. "Thank you," she said quietly.

Rui raised a brow mat Psyche. "No need to thank me." He plopped down himself and let out a sigh of relief. "I just want to make sure you are ok. And if you want to go back let me see if that bear was a random vistor or not." His ear twitched as he heard a low grumbling noise. "Either that bear is back or one of us is hungry." He chuckled a bit.

Psyche looked away, face a little reder than normal. "You practically saved my life. I'm not supposed to thank you? For once your overprotectiveness paid off..." She looked down at her own stomach. All that running, jumping, and anger made her a tad hungry. Not that she would admit it. Nope. Not at all. Let Rui think what he will. After what she had been through today she wasn't going to admit to anything. Not one thing.

Rui let out a sigh. "You aren't supposed to thank me beacuse..." Thats what friends do. Where they friends? What was Psyche to Rui? "...That's what foxes do for each other." He looked around from the spot he was laying at, he never really cared for meat, since he resembled a deer. He mostly ate fish and berries, and since the lake had the bear. Berries it was. He got up and went to a spot where he knew he could find enough for the both of them. "If you want meat your gonna have to get it yourself."

Psyche's tail and ears drooped. "Oh. Right. Foxes." So much for thinking Rui actually cared about her or valued her being around. She was just another fox to him. Another fox for Rui to boss around. She laid on the ground and put her head on her paws. "I'm fine." All of a sudden her appetite was gone. Why?

Rui jerked off a branch from the bush that had plenty of berries on it, he placed it by Psyche and went back to the bush for more. Before he did he tossed a glance. "What's wrong with you?" He stuck his head back in the bush and looked for more berries for himself, usually he would have eaten that of the branch, but Psych was a special exception.

Psyche looked at the branch of berries Rui put in front of her. She pawed at the branch, moving it this way and that. "Nothing." Rui didn't really care what was wrong with her. After all, she was just another fox to him. It was normal for some foxes to ask other foxes what was wrong with them and don't really care. Rui was just another one of those.

"Liar." Rui may be old to her but he wasn't dumb. He knew she was lying. It was easy to tell. He turned and igmored the berry busg for the time being and sat down. "I know there's something wrong with you. You look to... down for 'nothing' to be wrong." He eyed her suspicously.

Psyche hesitated. Should she bring it up with Rui? Would it do more harm than good? There were times where she saw Rui as simply a father figure yes. But there were other times when..."What am I to you?" There. It was said. No taking it back, no matter what happened.

Rui raised a brow. "You really don't know?" He turned and eyed her. "You're like a daughter to me. Which is why I am protective of you. I don't want you getting hurt." He sat down. "If you are wondering why, It would break my heart if you were under my watch and something happened to you. I couldn't live with my self." He snorted and turned to pick at the bush.

"Oh," Psyche said softly. So that was all. She should have realized it before. Maybe then she wouldn't have had those thoughts of Rui and her starting a family. It probably wouldn't have worked anyways. They were just so different. She moved closer to Rui. "I never meant to cause you to worry so much."
