Add Slipknot's bassist to the list. I think his name is Paul something. He sucks. He finally learned how to play an open string. scream

WTF? Playing an open string is not good unless you absolutley have to. You have more control with a fretted note.

Agreed, but would also like to add the stupid kids from my school band. I have to sit there, for an hour and a half, listening to them play Seven Nation Army, Iron Man, and smoke over the water or whatever the hell that songs called, over, and over, and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Sid Viscious has to be one of the worst bassists of all time. Holy s***, he had the punk rock attitude, and sadly, he also had the punk rock ability to play. Most punk rock "musicianship" sucks fat c***.

Sid couldnt play but had a killer image and was just a badass.
Mark on the other hand cant play worth s**t, and looks like one of those preppie pop punk people that through stuff at me. I loathe Mark hoppus and Tom can't play guitar eithier.

I used to listen to slipknot a bit a couple years ago, and although im not into them anymore I still think Paul was a decent bassist. I definitely wouldn't consider him bad, he had some nice basslines.

I disagree with that completely. He CAN play very well indeed. It's just that the music that they play doesn't express his talent. Download their song "Confessions".

Sorry if I offend anyone, but I just plain don't like Shavo from SOAD. <.<

Why? Because I think that ANY bassist that resorts to playing with a pick is just a wannabe guitarist. <.< >.>

Not nessasarly. It depends on how you play. I dont use a pic..but i dont see any thing wrong with useing one.

Yeah, he's a good bassist, I just hate the fact that he resorts to using a pick.. <.<

Greetings everyone. Long time no see. biggrin Anyways, enough, reintroductions, I figure I should stay on task here. smile I'm relatively good a playing with a pick (even though I am great at slap and fairly decent at standard finger play) but I normally use a pick to give it a more chopping kind of sound that can only come from 2 hard objects clashing against each other..(which im not so eager to make my finger nails bleed.. again mrgreen ) as well.. as some of the effects I use on my bass only sound half way decent with a pick in hand. It's true, alot of bassist resort to pick use just to sound like guitarist.. but in the same sense, if you can cover the bass and the guitar part of a song at the same time.. then you can only take your music to new lengths with such an ability... but i wont disagree on the fact that a bassist should learn how to be a bassist first. razz

As far as people to add to my crap list:
- Mark Hoppus (enough said about him on this thread)
- Gene Simmons (great showman, weak player)
- Sid Vicious (band overall had good music, weak player)
- Michael Anthony (love van halen.. but I had to put this guy on the chopping block)
- Danny Partridge (ha ha.. lousy nick at nite!) mrgreen

Farewell once again, my fellow bass heads!
