Stupid, stupid, stupid! He was making a fool of himself! Orion's hand on his shoulder was a comforting reassurance, one that still made his bare shoulder feel warm as he passed his boyfriend by. Boyfriend. Not just a teammate, not just a roommate or best friend. They were... more now. More in a way that Merope was completely unfamiliar with, and yet excited beyond reason for.
It was impossible to tell whether the emblem on the door was smooth or rough through his gloves. "Yeah," he said, looking over his shoulder at Orion. "There's a similar thing like this on my ship. Same location, too. I'm surprised I haven't seen any Jolly Rogers yet." Then again, Merope didn't spend much time outside on his planet.
Merope grabbed the door handle and pulled, the heavy door swinging back with a soft creak. The inside of the room was similar to the tavern below. Wooden floors, wooden walls, wooden ceiling; Merope glared up at it, squinting. Yep. The shadow on the ceiling looked suspiciously like another heart, however this one was more detailed than the others.
The room itself was spacious, and could have been considered cozy in its time. A wardrobe sat along the lefthand side of the room, complete with two stuffed birds nesting on top of it. Next to the wardrobe and taking up the rest of that side was a large bed, the sheets nothing more than tatters. The other side of the room had a desk and a vanity table, complete with a mirror that was still surprisingly whole. The vanity table still contained small bottles of what could be presumed to be make-up, as well as featuring a large bauble at the top of it. On the back wall, it was easy to see that it was enlarged to accommodate a large window complete with a built-in couch. Were those planter boxes? Unfortunately the plants that once grew there were now wilted, shriveled and dead.
He had taken several steps into the room before he flailed, falling and landing on the floor as his foot caught on something. "Ow! What the --?" Merope coughed, pushing himself up from the floor. On one hand, his fall was broken by the rug on the floor. On the other hand... "Agh, careful Orion. A bear's got me," He joked, trying to twist around and free his foot from the opened mouth of the giant bear. "Think you can give me a hand?"

When the door swung open Orion followed his boyfriend in, glancing around. The room seemed almost familiar to him, but he couldn't place it until he looked closer at the furniture inside of it. It was all made from Orion wood, Thor had such furniture in his own room. He stepped closer to the wardrobe examining it, running gloved hands over its frame. It was made beautifully, and obviously was sturdy to withstand the test of time.
He was moving towards the window seat when he heard a thud and then Merope's voice. Turning he couldn't help but laugh seeing the bluenette tangled in a bear skin rug. Grinning he made his way over to him, crouching down. "You sure do have a lot of animal decorations around here." Chuckling he reached out and carefully managed to ease Merope's foot out of the bear's mouth. Standing up he offered a hand down to the other man to help him stand. When his hand was taken Orion pulled up, and Merope pushed up and the combination of force sent the smaller senshi stumbling forwards. Luckily for the bluenette Orion was there to catch him.
It took him a moment to realize just how Merope had fallen against him, the smaller man's body crushed into his chest. Slowly he drew away just enough so the bluenette could get comfortable. He was barely breathing as he lifted a hand, his fingertips resting on Merope's cheek. He was so close, he'd only have to lean down and their lips would touch. In that moment all of his worries about what he was doing and whether or not he was doing it right were gone. He was leaning down his lips centimeters from the other man's when a voice cut through the silence.
"So, I was on the roof and- oh." Poseidon stopped abruptly taking in the sight before him. Orion had sprung away from Merope like he was on fire, bright red from the neck up. Obviously he had interrupted something. "You know what, I think I'll go look around the bar." Turning, his bare feet made no sound as he left the room, swinging the door shut behind him. He paused in front of the closed door a cat like grin on his face. Well, well, well, his boys were getting along. He'd have to do some research, find out what he could do to help, it didn't do to be unprepared. Heading down the stairs, he sat at one of the bar tables to wait for the couple.
Bright red and suddenly feeling very awkward Orion rubbed the back of his head, looking anywhere but at Merope. What the hell was he doing? He was acting like a freshman with a crush. He couldn't help it though, Merope was wreaking havoc on his nerves. Clearing his throat he glanced at him and then away. "So...."

"Y-yeah," Merope agreed, looking away from Orion as he helped him out. "It's not like the other ship though. The other ship's smaller, and there aren't many decorations inside from what I could see. Then again, I haven't been able to explore much of it because it's too dark but there's a lot of carvings. I guess she - I? Kept a lot of stuff here instead." He was babbling. He couldn't help it or stop himself, and already he was aware that he was looking more and more like a fool. He accepted the offered hand to steady himself only to stumble yet again; this time right into Orion.
He froze. He wasn't where he thought he was, right? The warmth, the scent -- no, he was right where he thought he was. How often had he been here before, as Alorie? Was it right? After all they were together once upon a time a thousand years ago except he had been a girl then and not my Orion what silver eyes you have. And what soft-looking lips you have.
Poseidon's voice spurred them both into action, Orion to spring away and Merope to turn and take a sudden fascination with a vanity table. Even then he could still see Orion in the dusty reflection (so it was more like an Orion-shaped smudged reflection). His olive green eyes dropped to the vanity table where he randomly picked up one small bottle, turning it this way and that.
"So," Merope agreed. There was a stretch of silence between them as Merope carefully placed the bottle back down, his fingertips drumming the table. "So," he managed again, pausing to chew on his lip. He had to ask. It was hard to not. "Were you... Were you about to... to... you know," he stumbled on his works. The heat was beginning to rise in the room as he rubbed his cheek. "I mean. You know. Um. Kiss me?" There. He got it out. "Not to say that there's anything wrong with it or anything I'm just -- I don't know. Nervous? By the way you smell nice and -- eegh." He buried his face in one hand, "Let me just... just try to get ahold of myself. I'm babbling again."

Orion was taking great interest in the floor, too out of sorts to look Merope in the face. They had come so close to kissing, he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like. Like kissing a girl? He thought there'd be at least one difference though, maybe the bluenette's lips would by dryer, or maybe they would just feel different. He didn't know, and now he was too nervous and embarrassed to find out.
The other teen's words caught his attention and he looked up at him and then away quickly. It was hard to keep his eyes on him, let alone look him in the eyes. He cleared his throat, raking his fingers through his hair nervously. When the question was finally asked he attempted to look at his best friend turned boyfriend again, but found himself looking away. Before he could answer Merope was talking again, stumbling over his words. Nervous? Well, Orion was definitely nervous too, he couldn't remember the last time he'd been so nervous. When his scent was mentioned he couldn't help but smile a bit, at least he didn't smell bad. That would make everything else just that much more awkward.
For a long moment he didn't say anything, his brain still churning things over. When he finally got his thoughts straight he didn't speak immediately, instead he crossed the room silently, stopping just behind Merope. Reaching out he lightly rested his hands on the other man's hips, staring down at the top of his head. That was safe enough to look at, as long as the bluenette didn't look up.
"I think I was about to kiss you," He paused, biting his lower lip. "But, maybe it's a good thing Po interrupted us. I don't know if I'm ready for kissing." He felt slightly awkward talking about this, especially about him not being ready for something. He was always ready for things, especially when they were physical things. But this was all new territory.
He was silent for another moment, and when he spoke next his voice was soft. "I need to go, I need to think." He leaned down, his cheek resting against the other man's hair so that he could speak into his ear, his voice nearly a whisper. "I want this chance with you, but I need to figure myself out first." He needed to try and untangle the old feelings and the new ones which he knew was going to be a hard task. Even harder now that he couldn't just drown himself in alcohol to avoid it.
One hand dropped away from Merope, and Orion summoned his phone in that hand sliding it open. He was already listening for Earth and it didn't take him long to pick up on the familiar call. "I'm sorry," He wasn't sure why he was apologizing. Maybe for leaving, or for not being ready and knowing for sure why he liked Carter, but he was apologizing nonetheless. His lips brushed against the back of his head the only kind of kiss he could manage and then he took a step back from the other man, pressing the send button on the phone. There was a second's pause and then he was gone.

The silence in the room was drawing out. It wasn't supposed to be like this -- or at least it didn't feel right to Merope. There should be anything but silence here. The tavern two levels below, the hints of a pirate life Alorie lead were both factors that made the silence unusual. Orion clearing his throat made Merope jump and glance his way before looking away again, trying to get his breathing under control. He could only drum the tabletop for so long before he broke the silence first, speaking before finally seeking solace in his hand. He was doing a fine job of screwing things up and making things more awkward than necessary, he realized as he pressed his face deeper into the black fabric of his glove.
The light touch on his hips made him jump, the various pieces of jewelry on his person jangling rather loudly as both hands landed on the tabletop. Breathe in. Breathe out. Listen. Merope bowed his head and listened, nodding his head once. His throat felt tight.
He held his breath as Orion leaned in closer to him. If he moved his arms up they would be in an embrace, he realized. But even that realization couldn't bury the words that were spoken so softly that they tickled his ear, that made him close his eyes and bite his lip to hold back the sudden grin that wanted to form on his lips.
Merope barely registered the apology. The sensation of his lips on the back of his head made his eyes fly open with surprise, the bluenette turning around in shock only to bare witness to the empty room. He was alone; Orion had left.
Carefully he leaned against the vanity table and simply stared at where Orion stood before, silent. He was... He was what? He wasn't sure of himself, but he agreed with what Orion had said. Neither of them were ready to kiss. He wasn't sure if he was ready for any sort of relationship, either. He liked being around Damian, yes. He had a blast when he was with Orion too. It just... wasn't as scary with Orion around as back-up. Hell, Carter looked forward to spending time with the other! Was that what made a relationship? He didn't know. He too needed to figure himself out.
Merope pushed himself away from the table and carefully walked towards the door, leaving his past-self's room behind. He needed to think. Orion needed to think. Merope did not believe he should return to Earth that instant as well, just in case Orion needed to get settled in.
...Wait. Should he spend the night at the Pleiades base? Would that send the wrong message? He let out a frustrated sigh as he ran both hands through his hair, shaking his head. There was too much to think about, and not enough time to do it in.
Merope sighed again, moving towards the rail that lined the deck. He gave it an experimental shake before leaning against it, immediately regretting his decision. There was no ground. His homeworld was less of a world, and more of a shipyard. Every building looked like a ship to his inexperienced eye, connected together by matter of rope bridges and floating platforms. There was no water here; the endless stars of the galaxy was spread out and all around him, part of it obscured by blue nebula space dust.
As unsettling as the view was, it was enough. He could address his problems later. Right now he could simply watch and wait, standing there until he began to shift restlessly from foot to foot. Poseidon would hear the super senshi descend the stairs a full fifteen minutes after he had last seen him, asking him if he was ready to go. Where was Orion? He went back already. Once the guardian cat was ready, Merope summoned his phone and returned to Earth, cat in tow.
