It didn't really occur to Jerome at first when he agreed to help her... that he had no idea what an alternator was.
In fact, it wasn't until he was standing in front of a large pile of random metal junk... That he didn't even know what any of this s**t was or what it could do.

He glanced up at her as she started to get to searching, then returned his gaze back to the pile.
alright... well this couldn't be to hard.

He reached down, shifting stuff around, and for a while he continued this, before he straightened up, yanking something with him
"Here." he grunted, holding up what was clearly a muffler.

Izumi turned from her pile, a large excited grin on her face, expecting that Jerome was holding out the alternator she was looking for. Her smile fell quickly, however, when she saw what he was actually holding. "U-um... t-that's a muffler... I-I need an alternator..." Maybe he forgot what he was looking for? Either way, the mechanic turned back to her pile and continued the search.

He pulled the muffler back, looking at it with a flight frown, "Hm..." okay so thats not it.
Tossing it away, it landed with another pile in a loud "CLANG" and he continued to look.
A moment later and he pulled something else out of the pile "This." He voiced with an indifferent tone, holding something that was once again not an alternator.

"Um... c-closer. T-that's a crankshaft. U-um... Jerome?" Izumi rubbed her metal arm nervously, wincing a little as she started her inquiry, "D-do y-you know w-what an alternator... um... is...?"

"No" He replied in his usual calm tone, still kicking around a pile of junk.
"Ain't got a clue."

Reaching down another moment, pushing more junk scraps out of the way, strong hands reached into the pile, and after a moment of tugging, something broke free from it.
He blinked at what he pulled out, a wreck of wires and metal... what the hell was this.
"This?"

Izumi sighed at Jerome's answer. At least he'd been willing to help... When he pulled out something from the pile, she looked, glancing quickly and then back to her heap of metal. "No not that either..." She paused a second. What was that? "Hold on-"

Well, he wasn't to surprised, this thing looked completely trashed anyway.
Shrugging lightly he tossed it back over his shoulder carelessly, back with the rest of the junk.

"hn?" about to return to searching, he paused and glanced back over at her when she started to talk again.

"Wait- Where'd it go? I want to see that- um- Oh dear..." Izumi scurried over, trying to figure out where the thing had gone. It had looked odd, from the glance she'd gotten, maybe some rare part she could use later, if only she could find it again. The girl clamored up onto Jerome's pile of scrap, nearly falling three times on her way up; Risk of injury be damned, she needed to see what that thing had been.

"Woh woh woh!" She certainly seemed like she was quite adamant about getting the piece back.
With much more skill, and fluidity in his steps Jerome made his way up the pile, next to Izumi.
Reaching down, black eyes looking around the aria the item was thrown into. he pulled it up again before she fell and got herself killed... again.

"Oh! Yes!" Izumi reached out and grabbed the broken thing, turning it over in her hands, ignoring her increasingly wobbly footing. "Interesting... Substantial outer damage- frayed wires-" She swayed on the pile, her balance apparently decreasing at the same rate as her interest in whatever they'd picked up rose. "What is... Oh- Look at this- A ball joint rotator... hmm..." She mumbled something, not paying attention to anything else.

And more stuff he had no idea about. leaning forward a little with a slight frown, peering down at what she was so fascinated about.
glancing down at her footing when she began to sway more... damn, this girl had no idea how to stand properly, she was going to fall flat on her a**.
"Might wanna get down off this pile first." he suggested. Taking his own advice, and with an easy jump was on solid ground again, turning back to look at her. "The things busted, what can you do with somethin' like that?"

"What?- Oh- Alright... umm..." Clutching the broken thing close, Izumi started down from the scrap pile, making small wobbly steps down. She almost made it all the way down without incident, but the girl wasn't very good at checking her footing, and put her weight on a part of the heap that had barely been clinging to the other pieces of junk in the first place. Izumi yelped as soon as she felt the thing slip, followed quickly by the thin girl toppling off, heading for a nasty face-plant.

Jerome might not be able to tell the difference between a muffler and an alternator, or have the first clue about how anything in this junkyard worked, or used to work. But one thing he was very good at was telling how someone's posture and footing would eventually lead to a face plant.

Doing parkour helped with understanding balance, and this women... had none.
The thing he was best at though, was physical abilities, fast, and strong.
So when Izumi fell, Jerome's hand had already shot out and a step forward helped him get there in time, while strong arms stopped her fall with seemingly no effort on his part.

By the time it was over, he had her picked up off the ground for a moment, against his chest while he back up a couple of steps to place her down on solid ground.

This act, while might have seemed pretty impressive. was not at all what the mostly healed but still painful wounds on his chest wanted him to do, and they pointedly reminded Jerome of his current condition by sending pain through his chest.
This was abruptly followed by a string of vulgarity and hunching over.

When Izumi was not sprawled on the ground, she was surprised, to say the least. Instead of gravel, dirt, and metal fragments to greet her face, there was a cotton shirt on a finely muscled chest. She was too stunned from her fall to say anything before Jerome put her down, hunched over, and cursed in a way that would have made a sailor blush.

Izumi stared,doe-eyed, at the man. "I-I-I'm sorry!" She wasn't sure what'd happened, but she did know that she'd fallen and now he seemed to be hurt. "A-are y-you alright- um..." She stuttered a little as she clutched the broken prize closer.

He didn't answer her at first, hands on his knees, his cursing dieing down to mutters and growls.
frowning with a sigh, he straightened back up the moment he felt he could move again, ignoring the pain that lingered.
Waving a dismissing hand, "Had worse" This was in fact very true.

crossing his arms over his chest, to help with the discomfort. "Yer ganna need to learn how to balance better if you wanna be climbin' little mounds like these."
