User Image Isadora cast a curious sidelong glance at Lucas. "A new scope...?" Would that be a scope for one of his guns? At that thought, the woman suddenly remembered her request for a handgun of her own from Lucas! Had he made it yet? Was it finished? Could she have it soon? The prospect of it was exciting, to say the least, and Isadora found herself gazing dreamily out into space.

"Huh?" She only half-heard what Lucas was talking about, having been lost in dream-land, and so she blinked in surprise as he spoke suddenly. "Oh. Some shirts? We can look for some of those while we're out. Better late than never, mm?" She smiled, but she contemplated asking Lucas about the status of her gun. Talking about firearms in public might not be the safest of ideas, though, so she counseled against it. Still... the curiosity was gnawing at the edges of her mind.

Lucas made a similar connection as thoughts of his firearm projects came to mind; it had been a while ago that he had told Isadora he would make a handgun for her, and was indeed quite close to being thoroughly and completely finished with it. Assuming she would catch the direction of the topic, he said as much, "I'm about done with your thing, by the way. Needs a good polishing, but that's all that's left." Unlike the psychologist, Lucas felt no special need to conceal the subject, though his habitual manner of speech did so nonetheless. Perhaps he should have had a bit more sensitivity about the topic, but it seemed to him that a gun craftsman was no different from a shoemaker or a baker.

"Yeah, I guess so," he replied with a shrug on the matter of clothing. He wasn't particularly a fan of shopping for clothes, but it was something that needed to be done - a necessary evil, as the saying went.

User Image While it really shouldn't have been a surprise to Isadora, she was caught slightly off guard when Lucas did indeed mention her little gift, and her eyes lit up in delight. "R-really? Really and truly? Oh, thank you so much, Lucas! I'm so excited!" Said excitement was quickly becoming very hard to contain for the doctor, and it took mass amounts of self-control for Isadora not to drop everything and hug Lucas then and there. Of course, that just would not do, so she kept her joy to herself for now.

Calming down from the initial shock of happiness, Isadora took another glance around them to gauge their approximate location. She did still not recognize most of the stores or street names, and she was slowly becoming more and more dubious that they would find their destinations so easily. "...How long do you reckon it'll take your Growlithe to find the store," she asked.

"Really," he assured laughingly. "Hope it meets your expectations. It was the first time I worked with decorative details, so..." So he wasn't terribly confident in the quality of his work, despite the fact that he had redone the grip three times. That was probably a large part of the reason it had taken so long, so he hoped Isadora was happy with it.

At mention of the Growlithe, Lucas hummed thoughtfully. "Dunno... I found him in this city, so he should be at least a little familiar with it. Enough to not get lost, anyhow..." He glanced around in search of some sign of the fire-type with the faintest hints concern. Should he call for him? It seemed he'd had plenty of time to get rather far from them, though...

User Image A slight frown of worry appeared on Isadora's visage, and her brow creased. Surely, then, if the Growlithe was already familiar with the layout of the city, it wouldn't take him terribly long to find the store and report back to them? Then again, this city was rather large, and no matter how long someone might have known it, some things can still be unfamiliar or foreign.

The street came to an intersection, and Isadora curiously peeked around the corner to see what she could find there. What she found, as if it was some gift descended from heaven on high, was the store she had been searching for. "Oh," she cried out in surprise. "There it is!" Looking back to Lucas, she chuckled rather sheepishly. "Guess there was no real need for worry then, hm? Let's go!" She walked on ahead of Lucas, elated to have finally found what she was searching for.

"Huh, all right then." Well, there was the store. But then where was Fetch? Lucas lingered a ways behind momentarily, watching the streets for some sign of the fire-type. Frowning, he pulled a second pokeball from his collection, and a dreary-colored Chimecho appeared beside him. "Merry, Fetch went looking for one of these stores," he pointed to the store in question, "in that direction," he pointed opposite from whence they had come. "Could you track him down for me?"

Merry chimed disapprovingly, setting her stubby arms on her non-existent hips. "What? It's not like I'm going to be by myself," her trainer argued, mildly offended. "I've got Snow and Lissy and the others, and I'm not even here by myself in the first place," a gesture indicated the departing form of Isadora. Oh, departing. "Look, I'm counting on you, all right? I'll be in here when you find him." Without allowing the Chimecho a chance to disagree any further, he moved to catch up with the psychologist.

Merry sighed. She couldn't really argue with his reasoning, but it still worried her to let him wander off... Oh well. Apparently Fetch had gotten lost, so that was the larger concern at the moment. The psychic-type took off in search of her ally.

User Image Isadora had almost gotten to the front door of the store when she paused and looked behind her, expecting Lucas to be there with her. To her slight annoyance, he was not with her. Instead, he was a was down the street near the corner, talking to his Chimecho. Ah, yes, that was right... They still had a Growlithe to find, didn't they? That was slight cause for worry.

She put on a pleasant smile as Lucas approached, though she was also concerned of the wellbeing of the little Pokemon. "Don't worry," she reassured her friend, "he'll turn up okay. Now, then..." The smile on her face widened as she slowly turned around, then entered the store. A wave of pleasing, flowery scents washed over her, enticing her to take long, deep breaths. Yeah... she might spend a while here, no doubt about that.

"Yeah, he'll be fine," he agreed with a nod. Merry was after him, after all. She wouldn't stop until she had him at her figurative heel.

He entered the shop with a mild wariness. Smells like flowers and full of women - an accurate appraisal of the shop indeed. Lucas could almost feel the cashiers' judgment against either his character or his circumstances, possibly both. He wasn't so frail as to fear his masculinity damaged just by setting foot in a store, though. The larger concern with his presence in the store was the bitter nostalgia that resulted.

I really like these sheets. Do you like these sheets? I like them a lot.

He had sighed, smiling. You want me to buy the sheets?

She had smiled in return. He'd thought she was being coy. A slight irritation worked its way to his expression at the memory, but he made no other outward signs of displeasure as he followed at Isadora's side.

User Image Blissfully unaware of Lucas' current internal struggle with his nostalgia, Isadora walked to and fro, back and forth between walls and shelves packed with goods. She, of course, had to stop at every new scent she came across and smell it experimentally to see if she enjoyed it or not. Sometimes she did, sometimes she did not. But generally, every time resulted in the same wandering to a new discovery.

After this cycle repeated a good several times, Isadora came upon a scented perfume she really did enjoy. It was flowery but mild, with a touch of lemon-grass to it. She took hold of a bottle and turned around to face Lucas. She held out the open bottle to him, a bright smile on her face. "Here, smell this one! What do you think? I think it smells lovely."

It probably shouldn't have bothered him as much as it did, considering the events plaguing his memory were from ten years prior, but it bothered him nonetheless. He wandered near Isadora as she flitted from place to place, watching idly and failing to keep himself from projecting the past onto the present. Thus, when she held the bottle to him, he took it absently, barely registering the scent before listlessly offering, "You want me to buy it? Ah--" He surprised himself with his own words, snapping himself out of his trance-like lethargy. "Sorry, uh... force of habit. I mean, I can buy it if you want," because now that he had said as much, it would be rude to retract it, "but I mean, if you think it'd be weird or something... I mean, no pressure or..." Now he was just fumbling.

User Image "What?" Isadora raised an eyebrow at Lucas' sudden question. That was... odd. "Uh... Lucas? I only asked your opinion on it." She gave him a dubious look, quickly replacing it by one of bewilderment when he fumbled and stumbled over his own words. She blinked, then chuckled and smiled, putting a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Lucas, it's fine. You don't have to anything. I'm perfectly capable of buying my own perfume." There was another chuckle as she turned around and began walking about the shelves again. "I do want to look some more, though..."

As she perused, Isadora reflected on Lucas' sudden strange manner for that moment. Had he... remembered something else new, some other less-than-savory memory? It was possible... But she shouldn't think about such things right now! She was away from the headquarters, away from that entire world... Right now, she was a normal woman, shopping. Nothing wrong with that once in a while.

A hand crept up to the back of his neck in nervous habit, an awkward semi-grin accompanying his reply, "Yeah, I know... Sorry." Well, that was enough of a cold slap of embarrassment to drag him back into current events. He was more attentive when she returned to shopping, careful not to fall back into that same half-dreaming state that had encouraged the slip-up in the first place.

User Image The doctor in her couldn't help but wondering what exactly triggered such an unusual response from Lucas in regards to her perfectly normal question, but the woman in her was only wondering how much perfume and lotion she could buy with the money she had on her without feeling like she was hoarding things. All in all, it came out to be a battle of the subconsciousnesses, and neither side seemed to be faring much better than the other. Tired of that, Isadora merely tried to focus on the key task at hand: shopping.

Finally, Isadora had decided on three items: the previously mentioned perfume, a shampoo that smelled of lavender, and a lotion that was scented with sweet pea. Silently, she hoped that she did in fact have enough money for all three. She didn't want to trouble Lucas with paying for her lunch as well as her fancy-smelling things. "Okay," she told Lucas as she made her way to the cashier, "I think I have everything I want."

Though his experience with this sort of store was severely limited, Lucas noted that Isadora had selected quite a bit less than he perceived the average shopper to purchase. Not that he would complain or anything; it was just sort of refreshing to see some restraint in an environment where it wasn't usually practiced. Or maybe his observations were skewed and the amount of shopping that went on in these stores didn't necessitate the same amount of buying. Well, that was a deep thesis to develop in his free time, if he ever felt so inclined. He probably wouldn't.

"All right," he said, following as she went. There wasn't anything he had seen that was particularly of interest, so he was content to simply stand nearby and raise his eyebrows at the... interesting array of 'as-seen-on-TV' items collected near the register.

User Image Isadora placed her items on the counter and took a moment to glance over in Lucas' direction while the cashier scanned the merchandise. She made a slight grimace at the "miracle wrinkles-b-gone formula!" product being pushed and prodded onto unsuspecting women just trying to get on with their lives sitting on the "specials" shelf. "I'm sure none of those things work," she commented idly. "It's all just advertising."

Once she had paid [thank the Gods she had enough money to cover it], Isadora motioned towards the door with her head to Lucas. "Well, shall we go? We still have that Growlithe of yours to find."
