 4. The blunt method. Oh man that was cool. I reeeaaaally like you. Eclipse was having a hard enough time keeping the petal on his own nose without standing on two legs. Even when turning his head he had to be careful not to move too quickly, or send his long hair flying into his face; everything could knock it off, and he wasn't going to be outdone. He could do everything this buck could do, and he'd look better doing it, by the Swamp! But when he backflipped .. Eclipse's eyes widened, and as he recoiled in surprise, the petal fell off of his nose. He hardly noticed, of course; he'd never seen a kimeti do a backflip, much less while balancing something. Eclipse never grinned, but he did smile -- and then sketch something like a bow, all refined elegance. "Okay. I submit. That was -- exceptional." His violet eyes sparkled. He took a step closer again, watching. "Do it again, won't you?"

Daisy Chain practically pranced after the buck, his tail hoisted up in the air behind him. With bright eyes and ears perked forward, he watched the buck in awe as he backflipped, seeming not to notice any hasty actions. All he saw was a feat that he could never dream of accomplishing! Yet he wasn't jealous, it was simply enough to have seen it done.
"That was so awesome! You're r-really amazing!" he squeaked, beaming with reverance at the handsome buck before him. Even the petal remained in place! The buck must SURELY be blessed with grace by the Motherfather. And HE was interested in little ol' Bud? Blushing, the small buck shifted side to side, wondering what new trick the buck would perform for him.

"A trick, huh? Alright, it's about time." Last-Breath-Laughing follows the buck away from the crowd. The trees soon swallow up the sound of their murmuring talk, even as it blocks out their curious glances-- all except for hers. Her eyes follow this handsome [if somewhat silly] buck until he hops up on a root and does a backflip.
A backflip!
Last-Breath-Laughing draws to a halt as suddenly as it happens, and her eyes widen in shock. It's certainly not what she'd expected! But, well... perhaps that's for the better. She finds that her heart starts back up again (for a moment, she'd been worried he might break his neck), and then she laughs, a clear bell-like sound that fills the air around them and holds none of the sarcasm that had been in her tone before. For once, her eyes sparkle lightly-- with delight, rather than mocking-- and it seems clear that, to her, he has made the right move.
"Well... I asked for you to impress me, and you certainly have!" Her smile turns into a smirk again, but this one is more playful than the one before, and she steps up to him, tilting her head to look up and meet his eyes. "Perhaps you aren't so silly, after all..."

3. The noisy method. Okay, now you try!
Leaves-Hush gapes at him in utter astonishment. He did a back flip. He did a back flip. "Wow..." she says under her breath.
But there's no way she was gonna just let best her like that. He'd think he was too cool for her if she didn't try!
"Watch this!" Leaves-Hush narrows her eyes. She flips her nose up the air and catches the rock in her teeth. Inhaling deeply through her nose, she charges at a tree, and tries a run-up-flip, only to land flat on her back. In the shock of slamming her back against the ground, she accidentally swallows the rock.
For one brief moment, there is a look of abject horror on her face. But soon enough, pride overtakes sense. "How'd you like that?" she asks, rolling onto her feet. That was planned, that was planned, please think that was planned.

 2. The faux-hate method. Wow that was dumb. And hey, why hasn't that petal moved at all, huhhhhh?
A trick, huh. She had to admit, that got her attention. Following him, she turned her head back and forth at the soft murmurs and staring eyes that seemed to meet him. There was no doubt that he had gotten more than just her attention, but here he was now, making conversation with her. She grinned. He was HER toy to play with... for now. The others would have to wait.
She blinked as she noticed a sudden movement out of her eye, and turned her head just in time to see him leap backwards, performing a shaky yet successful back flip. It was in no way perfect, but impressive enough, and surprisingly... the petal hadn't budged. At all. Mouth slightly agape, she stared at the petal, wondering if he had stuck it on with sap from the trees. There was no way that thing could still be on his nose.
Remembering her composure, she straightened up and looked him in the eye.
"That was... alright. But could be improved. Think you can do better? She pointed at the petal with a hoof, squinting her eyes at him. "And what's up with that petal? There's no way it could still stay on your nose after that. Did you stick it on with tree sap?"

Final Prompt (4):
"Yeah, my trick was pretty awesome, wasn't it?" he asked, clearly not looking for any answer that wasn't a boost to his already inflated ego. The pair was now well-removed from the crowd, the clamor of interest and disgust from before completely gone. "Hey, hey," he whispered, despite the fact that there was no one around to overhear. "I like you, so I'm gonna tell you a secret." He looked around, once, twice, thrice, and then leaned in closer. "This petal... I'm not actually balancing it." He danced backwards and rubbed his nose on a low-hanging tree limb. The petal seemed to peel off of his nose, and stuck to the branch by some unknown power. "Yeah, it was tree sap!" he said, impressed with himself. "A pretty good trick, right?"
...Right?

Again with the ego. He was a nice boy, but she wasn't sure she could handle all that cockiness.
"Yes, yes, cool trick. Very nice." she mumbled, wondering if she could slip off unnoticed. Her patience with the arrogant boy was wearing thin, but it seemed it would be a somewhat difficult task as the two had wandered off to a more secluded area. While pondering what to do, she heard him whisper, and she turned her attention back towards him, wondering curiously why he was looking around so secretively. She flinched as he leaned in towards her, twitching as he whispered in her ear. But what he said only brought a smile to her face, and she slowly started chuckling as he stepped away to reveal the "trick".
"Oh, haha, tree sap. Thought so." she laughed. There was no way the petal could of stayed so perfectly still from sheer will. She had thought he was just a cocky young buck, but at least he was honest. That, she could respect.
"Say kid, you're not half bad." she grinned. "Got any other "tricks" up your sleeve?"

4. The blunt method. Wow! That was clever. I think I've fallen for you~ For once in his life Eclipse hauled up short. Tree sap? Honestly? He should have known; but aaaah, the ingenuity of youth. Smiling crookedly, the black buck tossed his head, regarding the blossom stuck to the tree. There was a poem in there somewhere -- perhaps just about the blossom, but perhaps about the whole experience (the youthful buck courting a more experienced lover, perhaps?). Eclipse shrugged at himself, amused, and then smiled. "You had me fooled." The smile went a bit crooked. "Of course, you had a great many people fooled. But it was clever, all the same." Looking around at the gathering, he tipped the buck a broad wink. "I should like to get to know you better. Perhaps you can teach me some of those tricks."

1. The shy response. Oh. Well. That's nice. But I need to go now.
Opal's eyes dimmed with disappointment at his revelation. That brief thought, so easily pushed back in the hopes that he'd liked her, crept forward again, and she found herself shaking her head. "I suppose it is good," she allowed, her voice soft and a little sad, "for a prank. You're quite crafty." She took a backward step after that, considering him for a long moment before tilting her head back toward the gathering they'd left behind. "I'm going back now," she informed him, still in that quiet voice that said, far better than words could, that she wasn't impressed with his trick after all. But... she couldn't just leave it at that. "Why don't you come, too?" she suggested softly. "There's still plenty of time to party."

Hoof just stared at him for a moment, it all made sense now. Then she started laughing loudly, almost uncontrollably. When she finally caught her breath she said Wow! That was an interesting way to fool everyone! I think we should try a few tricks together. You are a little cocky but you can still be fun. While she said this she began to plot how to pull a good trick on him...

Leaves-Hush's jaw practically hit the forest floor. After an uncomfortably long silence, her mouth shut with a snap. "You... you..."
Uh-huh; you what?
"You jerk!" she shook her head, trying to come up with more words, "You liar, you cheat, you fake!"
If Leaves-Hush hadn't been so mad, she would have admitted that it was pretty clever- if only the way he acted like he was balancing it was convincing.
But he tricked her. He. Tricked. Her. Leaves-Hush couldn't believe she'd fallen for that (in more ways than one...). She'd made a complete idiot of herself; heck, she swallowed a rock trying to impress him!
"Urgh!" she stomped away red with anger and shame. She had to go see someone about that rock. And, more importantly, make up a story to explain how it ended up in her stomach in the first place...

Daisy Chain leaned in close, even though his legs started shaking. He couldn't tell what the buck's secret was....but somewhere deep in his heart he hoped it was like the cute and romantic love stories his dam told him when he was young! This buck seemed like a prince! So graceful, and talented...Bud wished he could be friends with the buck. Well...he DID say he liked Bud, right? That was a start..
Still shaking, he listened to the buck and his eyes widened in surprise when the buck rubbed off the sticky leaf.
"AWWWW..." Bud exaggerated, "So you're -not- a magical buck sent from the Motherfather to be my best friend forever?" he asked, pouting as he slumped to the floor. Then he smirked and cocked his head to the side. "It was still a pretty cool trick, though. You really had me fooled!" he giggled, wondering if he'd see the buck again even after the festival ended..
