He looked at Zac and felt crushed. They had faith in him, but he was sure he'd disappoint them. It was misplaced, and continued the heavy burden of guilt that he was incapable of meeting their expectations. He had been tested and failed countless times through the entire course of his Negaverse "career". He needed to protect this family and yet he had done nothing of the sort.
Acid bubbled in the back of his throat, and he swallowed it down. Maybe he should have eaten something, or not taken medication on a stomach only full on the bitterness of self-loathing. As the pair of them rose to depart, Ladon rose with them. It was impolite to not escort people to the door, even if his apartment was small. Looking at the rabbit, he glanced back up at her. "You like rabbits. I'll keep that in mind." It was random, but he probably would occupy himself with sewing to keep from thinking. A task like fixing a few plushies might keep him from thinking about everything else. Maybe when Billy was painting, he could fiddle with his own things. A rabbit....and a panda.
"Thank you for coming." He said, an automatic response to guest. He moved, leading them to the door. If he was thinking about it, he should have offered them drinks or talked about other things, but he was finding it hard to talk at all. Sometimes their worry in their eyes ate at him like corrosive acid. It was good they went before he got too irritated and snapped. Billy might be home soon anyways, and he didn't want him to hear what he had confessed to the pair of them. Their combined looks would just kill him.
"I'll keep in touch." He went to unlock the door, not taking their help as he unhinged several locks with some difficultly and finally yanked the door open.
