"It might be fun for you up until they caught you... But if they caught you?" His brow lofted as he paused mid fry-lift, pointing at the other boy with it. "They'd keep you, y'know. Drag you right back in and enroll you in classes again. It'd be like you'd never left and then you'd be stuck. S-t-u-c-k. Stuck."
He smirked, popping the fry past his lips before shaking his head slowly as he swallowed. "No monsters for me. Pretty average life up until you strolled into it, actually... Few girlfriends here and there, card tournaments on the weekends, swim meets and fencing? All sorts of stuff to keep me busy..."
Not a whole lot currently, though, which made things at least a -little- depressing. His brow furrowed slightly at that thought as he pulled his glass closer to him before taking another sip from the straw. He really needed to get out more...

"They wouldn't keep me! Do you know how happy they probably are I left? Do you have any idea what I did to my dorm room? Dude it was AWESOME. Zee and I decorated with tape once, tape that lit up if you turned on a black light! It was so cool, our -room- was cool! I.....I miss it. And Zee...."
For a moment Demy looked even more depressed than he had when Rik first picked him up for the evening. But with a grim smile the blonde shook the lonely thoughts away and got back to the night at hand.
"Normal huh? Can't say I did anything too extraordinary before good old Mr. Killingworth recruited me. Sounds like you had some pretty awesome stuff going though. Cept...fencing? ...Dude you put up fences?"

"Luc and I didn't really do much decorating with our room." His own brow furrowed for a moment then, soda suddenly the most interesting thing on the table once more. "I mean, there was that whole bit with the snow globes at Christmas, but..." That was depressing too, though. He had some sort of feeling that the snow globes had somehow been at the heart of all of his troubles, but there was no way to go about proving that now. He'd sent all of his, save for the one that was now buried at the bottom of a box in his closet, along with Lucien when he'd left.
At the other boy's questioning of his hobbies he wasn't certain as to whether or not he should be laughing or rolling his eyes. He settled for an odd enough mix in shaking his head slowly, taking a slow sip of his drink before glancing up at his friend. "Fencing as in swordplay. Y'know that stuff people do while wearing the padded suits and the face guards with the swords? That. My father and I... It's something he wanted me to learn when I was younger; y'know, before the world became little more than he and my mother traveling about on 'business'."

"Ugh the snowglobes. Zee hated those things...I thought they were pretty fascinating myself! Oh well, mine are all gone, thankfully... You shoulda decorated your room though! The staff sure hated it, but I still thought our room was pretty awesome."
Demy sipped away at his drink and shoved a few more fries in his mouth before continuing the conversation once more.
"Ohhhh! That fencing...gotcha! At least you did some stuff...my parents didn't...ah......." The boy frowned a moment. Before he wouldn't tell -anyone- about his real family. Not even Zee! But...the Negaverse was his family now, what did it hurt to talk about his old family?
"They...didn't really pay much attention to me. It was a lot of 'go entertain yourself', or shipping me off to Cordy's house when they could. They split up and I lived with dad... Me and mom -were- working on getting closer, but then uh...that whole coma thing. Heh..." He paused a moment to look away. "Dad and I really haven't talked since..."

"Hey, at least you had Cordy's family, right? I mean... I know she can be a little crazy, and sometimes a bit harsh, but she's a good kid; a nice girl." He nodded slowly, taking another sip of his drink as he let his mind drift to Cordelia Carden again, cursing himself mentally when somehow Cordelia turned into Lucien.
"Y'know, after this? I think I might head out for a bit. See what I can do about gathering a bit of y'know before I call it a night. Think you might be up for a collection or are you going to head home... And I mean actual home, not your crayon corner."

"Yeah, at least I had her family!" And yet it had never been enough. It wasn't his family, it never -would- be his family. No matter how nice they had been...
Ugh, better not to think about it.
"But I like my crayon corner!" The boy had started off with a whine, but it ended in a small smirk. "..Fine. I guess I can go home and torment Heather for a while. I have crayons there too anyway."
So HA.
"You -will- call it a night eventually right? Get some sleep?"

"I will." He nodded slowly, managing a smile. It felt nice to know that there was someone worrying about him; looking out for him... Even if it was a little oddball like Demetri Wright. Odd had to count for something somewhere, after all.
Once their dinners were finished he made sure everything was paid for, seeing to it that Dem even had a to-go cup for the rest of his drink before they were on their way; he to collect a bit of energy and Dem... Well, Dem to do whatever it was that Dem's did best when it came to heading home.
"Good night, Demetri." He grinned, taking off in the other direction before the other could protest too much, powering up as he rounded the corner so he could continue on with the rest of his night.
