Jove's shove wasn't exactly surprising, though it did succeed in its goal - namely releasing Tybalt from his grasp. "What?" he protested, trying to sound innocent, but it wasn't really happening, so instead he settled for a sheepish smile, reaching out to ruffle his little brother's hair. "All right, all right, I'll stop," he said. "Don't worry - I'm here for you, not to mess around with Schnauzer over there, so I'll stop. I promise," Ren added, emphasizing the word when he caught Jove's look. "Really."
Someone else had arrived now - a small ghoul that Ren vaguely recognized as the kitsune who had been on the island with them. He lifted a hand in greeting to Tomoko, giving her a small wave, as well as a smile in greeting, and was about to offer her a hello when he felt someone tugging on his shirtsleeve. Glancing down, he caught Jove's tail wagging, and his little brother was pointing off in a different direction. Ren followed his gaze, his eyes landing on a very familiar redheaded shewolf.
"LW," he said, attempting a smile. The last time he had seen his best friend had been...awkward. He had not been himself, and as she came closer, Ren hesitated only for a brief moment before leaning forward, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Hey. How are you?"
His attention was slightly drawn away by Tess' voice. "Don't worry, Ren said, giving the ghoul a smile. "We're not doing anything wrong or out of bounds. Just getting some mushrooms to help out someone. No biggie."
At least he hoped it wasn't. Turning back to Jove and LW, Ren ran his good hand through his hair, debating whether or not to pin it back to keep it from getting in the way while he was searching.
"Almost ready to go?" he asked his little brother, motioning towards the cart and the forest. "Need some help?"

Tomoko's ears perked right up at the sound of Junko's voice, looking to the ghoul and offering her a big grin, though she didn't miss Ren's wave, returning the wave before she moved over to join Junko and Seiji, completely ignoring that she could have been intruding on them having couple-time, instead just offering them both her best happyface ever.
Was Tomoko talented at happy faces?
She sure as hell was, though she paused after a moment, looking around the rest of the group and her ears drooped ever so slightly, emitting a slight chirriping noise. Clearly she had started spending too much time with Jove and his communications were starting to rub off on her.
"Are we waiting for it to get darker out before we head in?" she asked, looking to her 'older siblings' with an anxious look on her face. Ohhh, she didn't really like the dark all that much. She'd probably have to hold someone's hand the whole expedition.

Really, she hadn't been sure if she was going to stay our here or not. Things had been awkward the last time she'd seen her best friend. Yet there were others out here she could stick close to, right? Though it wouldn't be the same...and then Jove spotted her. His tail started wagging and he was tugging at the gryphon's sleeve before LW could really make up her mind on what she wanted to do. But damnit! The puppy just had that adorable look about him that made the she-wolf want to help out however she could. Especially if it took all their minds off of...well that trip.
A small smile tugged at her lips when she heard her name, but it wasn't quite up to par with her usual ones. And her feet were moving slowly before her mind had made a choice for them to do so. LW moved towards Ren and Jove, shooting another small smile towards Tybalt. Perhaps she'd stick around with her fellow canine pal? Or...
Ren pecked her cheek and she felt her lips curl into a warm smile. His question made her heart skip a beat, but she answered...mostly truthfully. "I've been...alright." No need to tell him how much of a mess she'd been. Tonight, if they could, she wanted to have as 'normal' of a night as possible. And being out here with some familiar faces was a good start. The she-wolf leaned and gave her best friend a quick squeeze before patting the pup on the head once.
"So...what are we-" LW paused and blinked at the gryphon and the ghoul he spoke to. Just searching for mushrooms? That sounded harmless...right? Right. Her tail twitched and she couldn't help but stick close to Ren and even Tybalt. No she didn't know the black dog very well, but she felt more comfortable around her fellow canine than others out here she didn't know. At least she hadn't grabbed a hold of Ren yet. Keyword there being 'yet'.

The ghost snorted, chuckling at the ghoul at his side before giving her shoulders another fond squeeze. "I'm quaking in my boats, honest." Liar. Considering her race, where they lived, he had to imagine Junko had the capability to be scary if she really wanted to be, but he certainly couldn't imagine it. "So does this mean you'll visit me in my dreams every night?" He'd lowered his voice as he teased her, pointy teeth gleaming in the semi-dark as he grinned. There were many other things he could have said, things that would have painted heat along her cheeks in a lovely blush, but he let it go. They were, after all, in mixed company.
Instead he turned his attention back to the ghoul with no legs, dark brows twitching upward in both curiosity and a sudden sense of foreboding. "You don't say." The latter really only lasted a minute at best, the arrival of Tomoko pulling his red on black eyes to her, and she too was met with a grin. It seemed as though the gang was all here, and under much better circumstances then their last few outings.
"I didn't really expect to see you here," he offered with a laugh, holding a hand out toward the little demon. He was happy to see her, that much was clear. "I'm not really sure what we're waiting for." Broad shoulders shrugged and he glanced back towards the little whisp. "We about ready to go, Jove?"

Jove looked around at the group, blinking at all the people who had gathered to help him, and then at the sky. They were right, there wasn't time to spare! With a decisive little huff he grabbed the wagon handle and began pulling it in the direction of the woods, the wooden contraption making protesting noises with every slight bump and jostle. He trusted the others would follow along without much delay...
It was darker under the canopy, but the pup held his nose up and scented the air in front of him until he reached a small clearing. Although the young trees had mostly filled in the gaps in the ceiling overhead, the remains of a grand old oak lay decomposing majestically at it's center. With the thick smell of moisture and plant rot in the air, it was surely the best place to find mushrooms of all sorts.
Jove parked the little wagon near the corpse of the oak, taking a moment to admire the large shelf fungi that adorned it's decaying bark before beginning to search.
Unfortunately for the other students, he gave no explanation, nor a description of what mushrooms were good and which ones were... not so good. They would just have to wing it and hope for the best.
((Game Time!
To help Jove find some mushrooms, all you've got to do is roll a six sided dice, along with a post where your student finds the mushrooms and shows them to Jove. Preferably just pointing them out rather than digging them up, but that's up to the individual. XD Rolls of five and six are desirable, a roll of six is a glowing mushroom that Jove will surely want to take back with them. If you don't get a five or a six you can try again after Jove has responded to your previous attempt.
Feel free to describe the mushrooms however you want even if you roll a five or six. The good ones might not be glowing this early in the evening, and Jove will know it's good regardless. ^_~
Once you find a mushroom with a five or six roll I'll ping you the prize on the minipet site, and you don't have to keep RPing if you don't want to. I'd only ask that you make an exit, so we know who to continue with. =3
If you haven't joined in yet but would like to, feel free to have your student arrive and help out. =3))

Whenever Jove sniffed the air, Tomoko did likewise, pondering if she'd have the ability to pick up the scent as well, even through the slightly creaky contraption the boil had with him hurt her ears ever so slightly. But she couldn't complain when it had been HER decision to go out and help him out!
None the less, she followed on his trail, curious to see where it was he'd be taking them... though her own nose and lungs told her exactly where they were when suddenly she was met with a breathful of moisture, coughing a few times before her ears drooped down, her ears furrowing together.
Oh man, it was really thick in this area of the trees, she decided, but none the less it seemed it was a good mushroom hunting place!
However...
Tomoko wasn't exactly versed in mushrooms and she just sort of wandered, ears held low as she seemed to look to see what everybody else was doing while she did her own looking. She at least knew what mushrooms LOOKED like, but never the less.
Did she find any mushrooms?
Well..eventually she did between some of the roots of the large decomposing tree, crouching down to look at them curiously, before looking back towards Jove and tilting her head to one side, making another "Chrrrriirrrriippp?" sound, inquiring.
Were these even the right kind of Mushrooms he was wanting them to look for? She really knew nothing about them and they weren't very...impressive, if she said so herself. But then again, she didn't know anything.

Sheridan had remained mostly quiet, standing with his arms crossed, tail twitching lightly. He had been growing restless, more interested, greetings and introductions were all well and good, but there were better times for such things. He was quite ready to get to whatever it was they had come out here to do, and rather curious about the idea of glowing mushrooms.
Finally. Into the forest then? Alright. It was quickly clear that Sheridan had no reservations against the darkness, following into the forest without hesitation. Time to see what these mushrooms were all about--
A brow raised, silver eyes watching Jove as scurried off toward the fallen oak without so much as a word. Well okay then, they were just looking for mushrooms right? Trouble was, he didn't know which ones.
A twitch of his tail, Sheridan placed his hands on the trunk of the fallen tree, quickly pushing himself over and onto the other side. Hey, these mushrooms looked interesting, they were blue at least, blue and rather spindly, with tall narrow caps.
"What about these?"

Okaaay so Aksaja really had NO idea how to go about looking for mushrooms. Wandering around a little bit, the lightning dragon started kicking at piles of leaves to look under them, and peering at the ground intently.
At least there was no weird creepy fog like the last time . . . and he quickly shoved that thought aside with a shudder. Never, ever wanted to think about fog again, please. No more fog.
And suddenly, something under his foot went "squish". Blinking, Aksaja looked down, to see that he'd actually . . . stepped on a mushroom. But there were more here! "Hey Jove, over here!"

Tess tried her best not to look as awkward as she felt. (Something she was slowly starting to get better at with the arrival of a certain something in her scare packages.) It was difficult to be in the company of those she wasn't familiar with, but that was her fault for not being more sociable. She clearly needed to get better with that particular trait. Thankfully, they all began to move, and she kept to the back where her wings wouldn't get in the way. When they were tasked to search, she found herself being drawn towards one of the other students with wings, the dragon with white hair in particular. Prompted by his discovery, Tess began to search within the general vicinity.
Though it was harder than she thought it would be, given that she'd have to lower herself to properly look. "U-um, is this what you're looking for?" she asked, pointing to a small cluster growing on a rotting log.

The forest was dark inside, the thick branches of the trees staving off most of the light from the slowly lowering sun. Ren kept close to LW and Jove, his good hand around his best friend's wrist so as to not lose her as he traipsed after his little brother. In here it was quiet and solemn, the clear scents of earth and moss heavy in the air. Ren closed his eyes briefly, breathing it all in, before following Jove and the rest deeper into the forest. He wasn't entirely certain as to what they were looking for exactly; he had a general idea, since he had seen what the mushrooms under Jove's bed looked like, but here, in the forest, everything doused in shadows, it was difficult to distinguish one mushroom from another, one plant even from another.
Tugging LW forward a bit, Ren let go of the shewolf's arm to kneel down beside a flowering fern. He pushed aside some of its feathery leaves, peering underneath. There were a few small mushrooms under here, which Ren yanked easily from the ground - though he wasn't sure they were the right ones. Brushing dirt from his jeans, he held them up to Jove.
"Freckles, are these the ones you're looking for, or am I just blind?" Come to think of it, they don't really look similar to the others...

The first person to pull Jove away from his own searching was Tomoko, by way of an inquisitive little chirp. He trotted over with much excitement, but slowed down, and gave the mushrooms a very wary eye. Apparently they were not the sort he was looking for, as he took Tomoko's hand and led her a safe distance away from the mushrooms. He even glanced back over his shoulder once. It was clear those mushrooms disturbed him in some way, but why was anyone's guess. The looked like any old bunch of mushrooms...
He pulled the little kitsune right over to Sheridan, who had caught his attention next. Letting go of her hand, he wagged his tail at the dragon and leaned over to scrutinize the spindly stalks. His head tilted. They were definitely similar to the ones he needed, but these ones wouldn't glow very well in his room... Finally he shook his head.
Ears perked when he heard the other dragon in the group called out to him, and the little pup trotted over. He eyed the trodden mushroom with a slight frown, which only grew more intense as he examined the rest. They were more of the same, pale white, and not the glowing type. His hopes were starting to flag, maybe he had taken them to a part of the woods where glowing mushrooms didn't grow. He couldn't even be sure there were any at all, the ones under his bed just seemed to grow on their own after he had lived there long enough...
With another semi-distressed shake of his head, Jove moved on to where Tess stood. ... Hovered? The mushrooms she pointed at were pretty, a pale cream with dark, feathery gills, but once again not the glowing type. His ears drooped, but the wordless murmuring noise he made had a reassuring tone. Both for himself and Tess. Surely they would find some good mushrooms.
Finally he trotted over to Ren. Fluffy ears perked as he looked at the mushrooms (which had been brutally ripped out of the ground), and then lifted his nose to get their scent. And then his eyes widened, and he sneezed with a high pitched squeak. And then sneezed, and sneezed and sneezed. It was worse than the time he had sprayed cookie crumbs all over Ren's bed, and all he could do was put some distance between himself and the mushrooms and hope the sneezing fit would stop.

Damn, apparently these weren't any good . . . and it was probably worse that he stepped on them. Moving carefully away, Aksaja's eyes widened at the sudden sneezing fit and made sure to move far away from where Ren was too before he started looking again.
At least on this try, he managed not to step on the damn things. Squatting down a bit, he tilted head, eyeing his new find. "What about these?" They even looked like MAYBE they might glow a little bit if it was darker . . . maybe.

Ohhhh, had those been really-really bad mushrooms? Tomoko's ears drooped a bit, but she made a note to avoid those mushrooms as best as she could from that point on, squeezing the boil's hand as she walked, all three of her tails perking right up as she peered over at the mushrooms that an older boil had found.
Ohhhh, those kind weren't it either?
None the less, the kitsune followed Jove on his round to try and get an idea of 'the good' vs 'the bad' about herself, just to find that at that very moment, all she knew was 'the bad'. None the less, she puffed her little chest out as big and brave as it would go.
"I'm gonna go look some more." she said, letting go of Jove's hand before she headed off to start her looking again...and making a point to very much avoid the first mushrooms she'd found and instead circling around the other way to look through all of the rot for anything promising....
.... ......

So apparently the ones she found weren't what Jove was looking for. She would have asked for more details, or criterias except he'd already gone over to inspect the next student's mushrooms. Not one to give up, Maritess continued to search. While her wings were making navigating slightly tricky, at least she didn't have feet to accidentally step on the next cluster she found. "Will these do?" She asked, pointing to the spot where her feet would have been.

As they entered the woods Seiji kept his grip around Junko's shoulders, clawed thumb running in lazy lines up and down the length of her arm. Could she see in the dimness? He glanced down at her, a tiny frown playing against gray lips, and tightened his grip ever so slightly. He could see rather well in the dark, and if she could not, then he'd be her eyes. There was no way the futakuchi-onna was tripping on his watch.
As they reached the clearing his grip loosened, chin tipping back so he could stare up at the filtering moonlight that seeped through the canopy of branches above. It was still dim here, but not quite so all consuming. Everything had a rather nice bluish cast to it. "It's pretty, hmm?"
It didn't take him very long to find a cluster of mushrooms. No more then too steps within the area and his foot brushed against something soft, drawing his gaze down from the moon and onto a bunch of lumpy little pod things. They didn't strictly look like mushrooms, but he had to assume that was what they where. There just weren't that many things and nature that soft that grew in clumps.
They weren't very impressive, and probably weren't what Jove was looking for, but just in case. "Jove, how about these?"
