It came down to benefits. This boil and Riley were getting something from their flying agreement. A ride and possible sight seeing for others, not to mention a ride in chase of emergencies, and he got the protect from another set of eyes. It wasn't a foreign aspect. There were case that kelpies, while engaging in battle, would ride their brethren to fight and yet have speed. Of course other clans were against such behavior, but it wasn't against any rules. However, that was kelpies riding kelplies. Those who went and choose a rider essentially were giving themselves into servitude or admitting they felt someone else better at making decisions then they were. The only cases it was okay was if it was meant to be with a mate or with some relative. It was a rather strange gray area, and he was pretty sure that if anyone back in his clan found out he was thinking letting Christof be his rider, he not only would be yelled at for jeopardizing his young life, but for being a downright moron as well.
He bite his lower lip, chewing on the corner as he thought before looking up at the boil. "Well, this has been...eye opening. Thank you..." Oh yeah.
Calder moved in front of the boil. "I never got your name. I'm Calder."

Jericho wasn't sure what the deal with the kelpie was with his reaction towards what he had said. Of course, he didn't really know the whole ordeal about riders with kelpies in the first place, so that was a part of that. In general, he wasn't really aware of the adversity an equine-based creature might have to riding. For a dragon, it was hardly equated to being 'tamed' at all. He was curious why he was inquiring about rides and stuff like that so much, however.
Nodding to Calder, he went on and returned to his humanoid state, placing his skull pin back in place.
"I'm Jericho," he said once he had finished his transformation, "So... exactly why were you asking about riders and all that?"

He jerked at the inquiry. "No reason!" He shout out, and quickly tried to cover it up. He started to fix his jacket. "I mean, just curious about how other creatures think about it and how the whole mechanics would work. Just wondering. I mean, I don't care about it. Just passing the time. Thought I'd ask. Ya know, while you are here and were on the topic." Not that he didn't lead them to that very topic. "So...yeah. Nice to meet you, Jericho. It's all been very educational meeting a dragon and not in the burnt to the crisp way either." He gave a quick, nervous laugh at his bad humor. "Okay. Yeah. I'm sure you're REALLY busy and all and I probably should be doing my homework and I think it's about to get dark and really I should be heading in to bed early and everything." He faked a really big yawn and also checked a fake watch on his wrist before stepping back. "It was really nice seeing..." He gestured to the sky. "...all that. Really good stuff there. Reallllll primo stuff." He continued to walk backwards, smiling.

Calder really couldn't have made it more obvious that he was trying to cover something up. Staring at the kelpie for a good moment or so, Jericho rolled his eyes as he watched him start to retreat.
"You're a terrible liar, you know that?" he scoffed, "But whatever, go off and do whatever kelpies do."
While he was curious for the reasoning, he didn't care enough to press for an answer. Shaking his head to himself, he waved to the other boy before moving to make his way towards the monster dorms to do homework as well.

"Na-ah! I'm a GREAT liar! I got you here." He said, and then paused, thought it over. "I mean I am a terrible liar. Wait." What was he trying to prove again. "I mean, I wasn't lying!" Calder stood there a moment, trying to think what exactly he just denied, covered up, or claimed, and then just looked at the dragon boil. "Yeah. That sounds right."
Then he turned, and headed off to find some place to just think and hide and wondering if he really did cover his tracks. That was until he reminded himself how great he was at these sort of secret operations and was sure he did do everything well. Yeah. Right? ....Ugh. His head hurt.
