Objective:
---Travel to the Moor of Icirrus in Unova and journey into the forest around it. Brave your way through it and find the Millenium Rose while surviving all the trials presented to you.
---Once you have the rose go to Pinwheel Forest and convence Boyce to teach you his ways, and win at any game he presents you with.

Opposition:
---The Grass Pokemon that live in the forest around the Moor of Icirrus.
---The forest its self around the moor will attempt to lead you astray and trip you up, it's alive.
---There is one more tale of a fierce Serperior that claims the forest as its kingdom, it would be best to stay clear of this powerful Serperior, its strong enough to command the entire forest and its Grass Pokemon, and surely it won't be happy if you take the Millenium Rose.

Pokemon:
---You may capture one Grass Pokemon in either forest, you may not capture the Serperior.

Rewards:
---The Millenium Rose, which is required to call upon your future teacher, Boyce.
---The ability to take on the next Grass Master Mission.
---Varies from there based on story.

Maia awoke suddenly. There was something in her lungs. She rolled herself onto her side and coughed, trying to dislodge whatever this thing was. One cough led to three, and three led to nine. Pretty soon, she had coughed herself off of her bed. Maia hit the floor with a heavy thud and rolled onto her back.

What is this? What's going on? Someone... help! I.. I'm scared...

Maia kept coughing, curling herself up to try and do something, ANYTHING. Thankfully, her prayers were answered. Chirp practically kicked in the door and rushed to Maia's aid. Maia could tell Chirp was saying something- no, she was shouting to her. Hawk appeared in the doorway and said something too. Everything was just so difficult to hear. It was like they were talking with their hands on their mouths while she was wearing a glass jar on her head. Chirp muffled something to Hawk, who came inside and scooped Maia up.

Oh Arceus did her head feel heavy. She couldn't bring herself to move, or even stay conscious! Oh snap! why is everything getting all blurry?! A sense of panic washed over Maia as she slipped into darkness.

.........

".....u...l...ow... she........ Thi... so strange. I've never seen anything like this."

Maia's ears were the first thing to come back to life. There was a strange, yet familiar voice muttering things that were fading in and out of focus. Maia forced her eyelids to move. It was slow at first, and her every move seemed to need a lot more effort than it should. When she got her eyes open, she took in her surroundings.

She had tubes on her... no... IN her. oh gross! oh gross! It was like being in that dumb vat surrounded by Clefairy all over again! However, unlike last time, she couldn't remove these things from her. It hurt too much to just hold her eyes open. How do you expect her to remove these things?

Someone dressed as a doctor came over to her and leaned close to her face. He shone a light in her eyes, then backed off. He studied her for a little bit, then turned away.

"Well, the good thing is: She's awake." He said. Maia heard some relieved sighs that could only belong to Hawk and Chirp. "Even so, the most I could do is get her on her feet for the time she has left."

"What? Time she has left?!" Chirp's voice shook. It was obvious she was trying to remain collected, but it was difficult.

"I mean, her organs are failing. It's like a train has been running on its tracks, and then all of a sudden half the rail ends. Would you expect the train to keep running fine?" The doctor said.As he spoke, he flipped through some papers, and came back over to Maia. "I don't have a way to fix this. Frankly, this is something I've never ran into even in theory. I'll do what I can, but.... You should really see about... you know... arrangements." The doctor stepped out of sight and began messing with... glass bottles by the sound of it.

Meanwhile, Chirp and Hawk walked up to Maia.

Maia managed to gasp a little in their direction. She was such a conversationalist.

"Hey... hey... save your breath! Uh.." Chirp said. She put on a happy face and moved some hair away from Maia's face. "I'm not gonna pretend that everything's alright. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you a lie... I... I.. I'm--" Chirp suddenly pulled away, burying her face in her hands. "I can't do this!" She cried, fleeing the room.

Hawk stared at Maia. He didn't seem to care, really. Well, if he did, he really didn't show it. "You're important to Chirp... so I guess you're important to me by association, impo- ... Maia. I'll do what I can to make you comfortable." He said... before promptly leaving. Great job on that one, Hawk.

So, Maia was left alone with the doctor, her motor functions slowly and painfully returning. after about a minute, the doctor approached her again. He didn't waste any time. He simply injected something into her arm and removed the series of tubes from her.

It was like magic! One second, she could barely move her fingers, the next she was up on her feet and feeling better than ever! In a matter of minutes, she was prepared to leave this place... wherever it is.

She was planning on running. Just leaving and going as far away as she could. She wouldn't have to think about anything. Just... Just run! As she got to the door, the doctor stopped her. Maia spun around and finally got a good look at him. He had deep, rich purple eyes and laugh lines turning his face into that of a happy old man. He was hunched over, like the white lab coat he was wearing was too heavy. He handed her what looked like an epipen.

"In twelve hours, take this. It's the same thing that I just gave you. I'm only giving you one because after the second one wears off.... well, it won't matter much."

Maia took the mini syringe and looked at it. It wouldn't matter. She just stuffed it into her bag and walked away. Maia was a bit thankful that Hawk and Chirp had brought her an overnight bag. It had clothes, toiletries and her pokeballs in it, so it wouldn't matter that she was just gonna leave and keep running. She blew passed Chirp and Hawk in the living room.

Yeah, living room. Despite the sterile room she'd just come from, the rest of the building turned out to be a simple house for two. Maia didn't stop to acknowledge this. She just rushed out of the door and into the howling winds of Icirrus city. They were at an old home nestled away inbetween some of the large windmills, but this didn't matter either. Maia took off sprinting. She didn't know where she was going, or why she was running. She just wanted to get away.

After about two hours of fleeing the nothing that was chasing her, Maia slumped against a tree, panting angrily. That doctor... why did he seem so familiar? Bam. As soon as Maia thought the question, she fell into "remembering" mode.

When she finally pulled herself out, she could tell that the process took longer than it should have. At max, she would probably spend a minute in that mode, reliving Chirp's memories in a weird assassin's creed sort of way. Maia checked her SNAG. Yup. It had been a whole hour. The worst part was the memory wasn't that great. Chirp had been playing with Hawk and friends. She fell and hurt her knee, and the doctor, who turned out to be Hawk's granduncle, put bandages on her.

Maia stared at the SNAG's screen. She needed something to occupy her time. Just... something to take the time away. She was scrolling through the information. After every letter, it got harder to hold back tears. She'd only been alive what? half a year? She was a baby! Babies aren't supposed to die! She was on the verge of tears when all of a sudden, she came across what might be her salvation.

The story of Boyce....

Boyce. It was a fairy tale, and nothing more! Then again.... What if they were true? She only had a day left to live, so either way she wins right? Either it's true, and she lives, or it's not and she dies. At least then she wouldn't be sitting around crying like a wuss. So, Maia got to work with the information gathering.

It took her about an hour to sift through all the information GRAY was able to give her. According to the clock, she had about 10 hours left on this douse of medicine.

"Are you done yet?" GRAY asked, sounding tired and bored. "You humans and being afraid to die. I mean, come on! It's not even that bad. Just try it a little bit."

"What would you know about it? You're some kind of weird computer thing-- HEY. I don't have time to waste on you! Just get Claydol here, now!" Maia snapped, barking into the SNAG with a renewed fury in her voice. Fury? why Fury? Well, Maia just wasn't sure what to feel. She knew she didn't want to be sad, and couldn't be happy, so an oddly therapeutic anger settled in.

As soon as Claydol appeared, Maia grabbed on and commanded the pokemon to take her to the Moor of Icirrus. In an instant, she was gone.

As quickly as she had vanished, she reemerged outside a line of trees at the Moor of Icirrus! The place was actually kinda beautiful, in a swampish sort of way. The way the fallen logs just melded with the pools of sparkling wa---

"THERE'S NO TIME TO ADMIRE THE SCENERY!" Maia shouted at no one. Several pokemon made themselves scarce. Who'd stick around when someone came out of nowhere and started shouting? "GRAY."

"Ughhhh.... what is it now? I was defragging some data near a really sensitive port, and I just get to the good part when I have to come crawling to you. Aren't you late for your date?"

"I need to-- Date?"

".... The joke doesn't work if I have to explain it."

".......?"

"Date with destiny?"

"...Ugh, whatever. Why am I out here? Where's the Millennium Rose?!" Maia asked, shaking her SNAG and taking quick looks around.

GRAY didn't respond at first. Maia, frustrated at a lack of a response, shook the device harder, expecting it to somehow trigger some kind of function that would allow her to kick GRAY in his computerface.

After a small delay, GRAY spoke up. "Despite your insistance that shaking the SNAG will do something, I've done a quick scan of the area. There's a powerful Chi signature coursing through this entire part of the forest. It's like a system of veins or roots. Claydol was unable to take you any closer because of this large collection of Chi. It's acting like a bramble patch. So, Claydol's put you outside the Moor at the closest point."

Maia calmed down a bit. GRAY was cooperating a bit more now. It was obviously because he was relaying information and didn't have much need for snarking. "Ok, so if they're like veins, then there must be a heart some where, right?"

"Hm, so your brain does work. I guess that ruins my plans for a new paperweight. The scanner is picking up a large mass of Chi deeper in the forest, but it can't pinpoint it. The most I could do was get you in the general area."

"Anything you can do to help, GRAY." Maia replied before taking off into the forest.

Maia rushed along, making great time with a quick jog. The forest path was pretty easy to follow, since there were trees and thick foliage blocking the sides. So, Maia raced along the path. The various sounds of pokemon was pretty calming... well, except for the fact that they seemed to be getting closer. The path took a particularly sharp turn, and when Maia got around the corner, a Sawsbuck was standing in the path. It had a few beams of light shining down onto its branchlers, causing them to have a wonderful yellow glow... wait, if it's summer then the leaves on its head should be green, not any kind of yellow.... Maia took a few steps back, and bumped into something.

She spun around to find a few Lilligent staring her down. They gave her a cute little curtsy, and raised their arms like debutantes about to dance with invisible suitors. They took a few sweeping steps, and petals began pulling away from the flowers on their heads. Behind her, Maia heard a low whining sound, as if something was charging! She was in some deep doodoo, that's for sure. Maia reached for a pokeball, which in retrospect was a mistake.

She'd barely gotten the pokeball out when the Lilligent's dance's activity skyrocketed. Their subtle dance became a whirlwind of spins and leaps, a storm of razor sharp petals whirling around them. They buzzed around Maia like tops, threatening to shred her like fresh cheese and a hot cheese grater. Sense? who makes sense when they're being attacked?!

"Hank! Help me out!" Maia screamed, hurling the pokeball indiscriminately. She had to tuck and roll as soon as she let it go, however, as one of the Lilligent had thrown its whirling cloud of razor petals at her.

Hank emerged from her Pokeball and landed on her feet. She took a quick second to look to her right and be engulfed by a Solarbeam.

The sound was deafening. The beam of light blasted away from the Sawsbuck and lit up the entire area. Maia saw Hank be hit dead center... well.. dead everything, and be thrown clear into the forest. The beam had blasted through several trees.

"Hey, I know you're trying to not die sooner and all..." GRAY spoke up a second or two after the solarbeam shot. "But whatever just happened seems to be helping out. For whatever reason, for the last two hours you've been walking in a ten foot circle."

"TWO HOURS?!" Maia screeched. In her momentary lapse of judgement, a cloud of petals scooped her up, spun her in a weird 360 3d circle, and threw her onto the ground. All the while, she clung to the SNAG for dear life. In a way, it was true! "It can't be. It's been like, half an hour, tops." Maia groaned. Learning her mistake, she got to her feet and did her best to dodge the other attacks. the Sawsbuck was charging another solar beam.

"Remember that Chi vein system I talked about? It's been pulsing and reacting to something. I guess it's you. It's been sending ripples of chi here and there, and drawing big chi signatures to your location. I'm guessing they're pokemon, huh?"

"great job, Sherlock." Maia grunted. She managed to dodge another whirlwind of petals, but these pokemon just kept dancing! Shouldn't they be getting tired now?

"Anyway, I picked up the chi of the pokemon you sent out. Since it's of a different type, It stood out like a beacon amongst all this.... green. When it got nuked, it was sent off deeper into the forest. It's about halfway to the heart. So, follow the trail of destruction and bam. you'll be halfway there. also, careful, there seem to be more chi signatures coming towards you. Have fun!"

The Lilligent's petal storm seemed to stop. Their dance changed. It was less swirling motions and leaping around! They were kind of dancing with themselves, gathering energy into their bodies! As they danced, they joined up with the Sawsbuck. Once all four were in position, they began gathering sunlight.

"Sh+t."

The Resulting solarbeam would have incinerated Maia had she not taken refuge behind a tree. Thankfully the tree was coursing with the same energy that the pokemon were using, so it survived a lot longer than Maia would have. It did, however, snap off of its base and be thrown deeper inside.

When the world stopped being a blinding mass of pure white death, Maia opened her eyes to find herself in a small lake. Hank was here, too! She was just kinda... knocked out and laying face up in the mud. Maia returned the pokemon to her pokeball and took a look around. The direction she'd come from had a clear path. In fact, she could see the Lilligant and Sawsbuck coming to join them. OHSNAP!

Maia jumped up out of the mud and fell into the water. She tried to get up again, but found her foot stuck, and then her hands!! in a matter of seconds, little water tubers had grown up and wrapped around her! She didn't have time for this!!!! Maia mustered up her strength and ripped the plants from the ground. They must have been some kind of Katniss, since they had weird Bulbs on their bottoms. Frankly, cooked right, these things would be a good meal. This place grew a vegetable like no one's business.

Maia took a quick glance at her SNAG. The heart was close. dead ahead, even! gah, gotta stop using all these "dead" expressions. Another glance was given to the clock. about 7 and a half hours to go. A sudden Energy ball the size of a small lawn chair buzzed passed her head, signalling that it was time to go. Maia rushed forward. Into the chest high grass that she could have sword wasn't there before.

"Where are you going?!" GRAY shouted at her from her SNAG. "Take a left here."

"What? why?!" Maia asked, ducking to dodge another solarbeam. She came back up to find the grass now rose higher than her head. Yup, this place was messing with her. Maia took GRAY's advice and made a hard left.

"Ok, now another left."

Maia followed the direction.

"Now another left."

Maia obeyed again!

"Another left!"

Finally, Maia caught on to what was going on. "You're leading me in circles!" She shouted, pushing grass away. "If I keep going left, the pokemon will catch up and kill me!"

"Dumb+ss, haven't you noticed? This place is always turning you right. You humans have no idea how to do anything. I bet the only reason you guys can solve puzzles is because another human made it. Haven't you noticed the pokemon haven't been on you as much? They're not that fast, and their ability to go in a straight line in this place made them seem faster. UGH!"

Suddenly, it clicked. If the forest always turned her right, by zigzagging, she'd get to where she needed to be! Awesome! So, she allowed GRAY to inform her of where to turn left at.

Maia pushed through one last patch of grass and stumbled into what could only be described as the garden of Eden. There were bushes, and trees and flowers. All of which were bearing fruits of every size and color. Huge vegetables poked out of the ground, and the air itself smelled of fruit punch and fresh salad. This place was pokemon heaven! Well, grass pokemon heaven. In the center of it all, was a large mass of thorns. Each thorn was about the size of a computer mouse, and there were so many pointed outward that even approaching the mass was dangerous. If that was the worst part, that would be a blessing. The worst part was that at the very top of the pile was a singular, pure white, glowing rose.

It didn't matter! This was it, the rose! If the rose is real, then maybe... MAYBE!Maia took off, fully prepared for the forest to wrap her up in vines and strangle her, or spawn huge melons to block her. Or even spawn some pokemon to kill her outright! But.... nothing came. This orchard just remained in its tranquil state. So, Maia slowed down. She took her time, and even tried a few of the fruits. She'd later recount that these were the best thing she'd ever tasted, and that if she wasn't on a mission, she'd stay here for the rest of her life... which wouldn't have been very long.

Maia checked the time. Man. Either time sped up here or something, or she'd really lost track of time. There was about ten minutes until she'd die or whatever. Something in the back of her mind told her not to take the medicine. She could curl up in the brambles and sleep here forever.... Yeah, no. She had a man to get back. She had pokemon to raise! She had friends to make! People to punch!

Maia dragged the eppipen from her bag, rose it high, then drove it into the crook of her arm. The medicine injected itself with a small hiss, and Maia felt refreshed. Another 12 hours left in her life. Right, the rose.

Maia walked over to the pile of thorns, and took a look. If she placed her foot carefully, she'd be able to walk through ok.... So, she placed one foot in, and then the other. She was taking the shape of a wishbone, and just swinging her legs through this patch. Like the rest of the garden, it remained peaceful, like it was unaware she'd gotten this far. Soon, the patch of thorns rose up into a pile of thorns. She'd have to climb, and this wouldn't be pretty.

...And it wasn't. The climb was uneventful, aside from the few cuts she'd gotten, and how sore her hands were. From the top of the pile, Maia looked up. She hadn't noticed it before, but the sun had been going down for a while. Through the space in the treetops, Maia could see the orange-red glow of sunset. Her eyesight fell slowly until it rested on the White rose in front of her.... and the Deerling behind it.

"...Hello, there." Maia said, raising a hand in greeting. The pokemon returned the gesture as best it could. They stared at each other. "Well, I don't have time for this." Maia reached for the rose, and her hand was slapped away by the Deerling's hoof.

"Ow! What's wrong with you?!" Maia asked, reaching for the rose again.

The Deerling slapped her hand away.

The two stared at each other again, both looking angry with the other. It was obvious the Deerling didn't want her to touch the rose, and it was obvious Maia wanted to rip the rose from its perch and go get the help she needed.

"Ok, this is how this is gonna go. I'm gonna take the rose. You're gonna do whatever Deerling do. OK?" She asked, nodding slowly. The Deerling mimicked her again, so Maia reached out, only to have her hand slapped. "UGH! ok, I know a way to stop this. Finn!" Maia released her Beautifly, Finn! He soared around a bit before coming to a halt "Ok, Finn. Get that flower."

Finn obeyed. He fluttered closer to the Rose, and was promptly shooed away by the Deerling. Finn was... perplexed! The deerling hadn't used an attack... or acted aggressively... it had just kinda said "Step back for a sec, kay?"

"OK I REEAAALLY don't have time for this! Finn, Use Gust!" Maia commanded, taking a battle stance!

Finn, feeling a bit glad to start fighting started flapping his wings! He kicked up a gust directed at the Deerling! The only problem? The rose was in the way. That peoblem ended up resolving itself, however, As the Deerling leaped into the attack's path, taking the brunt of it in order to protect the flower.

"Oh I get it. This thing is some kind of guardian...."

"A DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" Came from Maia's Snag.

The Deerling stomped its feet and gave a shrill "Deeeeeeer!" The vines below them flashed green, then shone bright green! Root like veins rushed out around the ground, then whooshed back to the pokemon. The Deerling put its head back and opened its mouth. The energy leaped from the ground and formed into a ball. It was energy ball! The surrounding forest had boosted its power!

The Deerling fired the ball, but Finn was able to fly out of the way in time. "Finn, counter with Poison sting!" Maia shouted, trying to find a time where the Deerling wasn't shielding the rose with its body! Finn fired the needles, and the Deerling took the hit in order to protect the flower! "Don't let up! Don't give it a chance to retaliate!" Maia ordered, watching Finn bombard the Grass type with the purple chi needles. The bombarded quickly became the bombardier as the Deerling flashed green, then fired a Seed Bomb into Finn's face. The explosion rocked Finn out of the air and to the ground below.

Maia looked at the Deerling. It had a funky look on its face, and a few of Finn's needles on its back. It was poisoned! Finn flew back up to where they were and let out a call! He was determined! heavily injured, but determined! Finn began fluttering around! His moves were... coordinated, graceful even! As he danced, energy bloomed from inside of him. It was the same dance the Lilligant had done. It was Quiver dance!

Now faster and stronger, Finn let loose another barrage of Poison Sting, catching the Deerling on the back some more! It was a bit unfair, since they were beating it up while it was on the clock and couldn't let the rose get hurt. Maia smiled a bit. She liked how stubborn this pokemon was. If she did take the rose, then it would only be fair to let it keep guarding it, right? So, Maia whipped out her Premeir ball and whisked it at the Deerling!

The ball struck and pulled in the surprised pokemon! The ball wobbled aggressively at first, almost rolling off the edges of the pile, but as time went on, the wobbling weakened as the already poisoned pokemon lost its energy. While it was disconnected from the source, it just couldn't keep going like it was. The ball gave a final wobble... then "ping"ed! The Deerling was caught! woot!

With the guardian out of the way, it was very simple for Maia to reach down and simply pluck the rose off of the pile of thorns. The part where things get complicated followed immediately afterward...
PostPosted: Sun May 20, 2012 7:51 am

Three things happened when Maia plucked the rose from the thornpile.

One, nothing happened for a few seconds. Like the world hadn't noticed the rose wasn't where it was supposed to be.

Two, After a few seconds had passed, The air seemed to become less.... prosperous. It lost its fruit punch and fresh salad odor. It just smelled like... air. The surrounding plants seemed to lose their sheen. They were generally OK, they just seemed not as healthy as they just were. Even the thorn pile seemed to droop a little.

Three, The Rose's new bottom seemed to sprout teeny roots... which suddenly exploded to life, wrapping themselves around Maia's arm. Every inch they moved, they got thicker, and stronger. Thorns began to sprout, digging in and cutting into her arm!

"Maia screamed, waving her arm around in an attempt to get this thing away. She'd even let go of the rose! It was too late, though. The Rose's roots were tangled around her arm, and only growing stronger. As the roots got thicker, Maia could feel herself getting weaker. Both physically and mentally!

She should just lay down. Just a quick nap. It would be ok! The thorn pile could be arranged into a bed, and when she woke up, all this would be over! It was just a dream anyway.... Oh boy was she tired.

....n...no! No! She was going through this whole thing to continue living! She couldn't give up! Maia clenched the Rose and brought it to her face. Its scent seemed to shift around between several delicious smelling things... She could just smell it allllll day-- HEY, NO.

"Listen to me, you little stick. I don't care what you are, or what you think about yourself. You're a tool to me." Maia muttered angrily. The rose pointed roots at her face, and Maia gave it a harsh shake. "Shut your stupid plant mouth. I've got waaay too much on my plate to be dealing with some kind of carnivore rose!" Maia used her free hand to grab some of the roots that was now obscuring her arm passed the elbow, and tore them off. It hurt. It hurt so much. Blood poured from some spots on her, where the thorns had dug in deeper than others. No matter. She had to fight! Roots grew to replace the ones that were lost, but those too were pulled off. Maia replaced the hisses of pain with a low growl. As she tore more off of her, the growl became a low roar, and in a matter of seconds, she was screaming her face off at the Rose.

In an act of desperation, she use her free hand to grab the stem of the rose. Roots tried to grab onto this arm as well, but Maia wasn't having any of that. She gave it a very sharp yank, and pulled the stem apart, leaving an inch of stem on the mass of roots and disconnecting the Rose from the mass. Panting, and sweating bullets, Maia stared at the flower in her hand. It seemed so normal now. Aside from the subtle glow and rotating scents. It's like it gave up....

Maia finished removing the roots, and wrapped her bleeding arm in an extra shirt she had. Rose in hand, she climbed down from the pile of thorns, and started walking away. "GRAY, I've got the heart of the forest."

"Weird, if you were walking and holding the 'heart of the forest', then that insane mass of Chi behind you, the one feeding Chi to the forest, would probably be moving. Numbnuts."

Maia stopped and looked at the Millennium Rose. It was what she was after, according to the legend, but if it wasn't the heart.... what was?

Her question was answered immediately. The pile of thorns suddenly detonated. Leaves were flying everywhere! They were coming from the used-to-be-a-pile-of-thorns, as well as the trees surrounding the area. It's like every single leaf was being pulled towards one gigantic Leaf Storm.

Maia couldn't help but let out a whimper.

Sitting in what used to be the pile of thorns, sat a Serperior. Maia could tell this pokemon wasn't ordinary, as it was roughly three times the size of a normal grass snake thing. Not only that, but this thing was covered in thorns. As if to make matters worse, it had a giant bouquet of Millennium roses inside its always popped collar.

The Serperior threw open its mouth and a sound like a mix of the roar of a crowd and a weed whacker. Its fangs were huge, and dripping with venom! Well, no, not venom. By the color of it, it was probably something stereotypically plant themed. Maybe chlorophyll. Anyway, The Snake reared its floral head back and glared at Maia.

Rose in hand, Maia stared back into the pokemon's eyes. There was something in them. a sparkle, a glimmer, a shining beacon of power that threatened to drag one's soul into the bowels of hell just for looking too long. Maia took a step back. This serperior radiated power, and was even emitting a low grass-whistle like hum. The very air shuddered at the thought of brushing up against this thing.

Maia broke the eyecontact. She spun around and ran for the gap in the trees. As she ran, the ground gave a mighty heave, and fully grown oak trees exploded into the space, blocking the exit. Maia managed to stop herself due to a combination of digging her shoes into the ground, and being hurled off her feet by the ground erupting again. Oak trees began shooting out of the ground all around them, forming a great wooden ring around the garden.

She was trapped. Trapped like a rat in a steel drum. It was now that Maia regretted not having a flying type with her. The Chi in the area was too thick for a teleportation anyway, so that was out of the equation.

Maia turned to face her captor. The snake hadn't moved... well, it hadn't moved until she'd made the conscious observation that it hadn't. As soon as she turned, the Snake began moving towards her, slithering slowly. With every inch it moved, grass grew to impossible lengths, then bowed out of the way. Nearby plants dropped their fruits and grew better ones. There was no doubt that this was the reason behind the forest's weird ways. This thing... this beast... this behemoth needed a name.

"Wreath Drake." Maia gasped. Some artsy part of Chirp knew that this wasn't exactly what would qualify for the term "drake", but serpent was just so overused.

The Wreath Drake slithered closer and closer, its eyes locked onto Maia.

Maia's stomach tied itself into knots. Would any of her pokemon be able to stand up to this? Hank was KO'd, Finn was weakened from the fight with that Deerling, and the Deerling, who shall be named Anne, was in no condition to fight. That left Jack... JACK! That's right!

A sudden smirk came over Maia's face. She grabbed Jack's pokeball and hurled it into the air. "Jack! Come be a martyr!" she chirped. The Wobbuffet was released, and... he did nothing. Jack stood there, arms hanging. It seemed he enjoyed being able to close his mouth for once. He stared at the snake infront of him, and let out a very depressed "Wobbuffet."

"Ok, Jack, Dooooo your thing!" Maia cheered, confident that her plan would work. She'd planned to use Jack's Destiny bond to blast the Wreath Drake in the snake genitals!

The Wreath Drake, which is actually sounding more kick a\ the more I say it, let out another loud hiss, and fired a weird green cloud of energy from its mouth. The cloud sped straight for Jack! Maia shouted, "Now! Use Destiny Bond!" Jack flared the flames of darkness around himself just in time to be engulfed by the cloud. The energy turned blood red, and jumped straight back into the Serperior's mouth. It had been a Gigadrain. Now, Jack lay on his back, drained of any kind of energy. His final thoughts before passing out were: "I need to find a better job."

The flames however, were still around. They were glowing brighter, in fact! From their depths, a shadowy hand burst forth. It flew across the ground, mimicking the motions of the snake! It took a second to leap into the air before diving into the Shadow of the Wreath Drake. The large pokemon screeched in pain, the darkness boiling its shadow, and pulling its veins to the surface. Several of the flowers on its neck seemed to wither momentarily. Thorny tendrils grew from around them and latched onto the Serperior, seeming to pull a weird recycling trick. It sucked the energy from the pokemon to revive itself, then gave the pokemon energy tenfold. It was a very broken system.

This system of revival didn't do much for reviving Maia's spirits. She'd just sacrificed a pokemon to buy herself a minute or two. Surely, she'd made the most of it. While the Serperior was screeching and trying to recompose itself, Maia had taken the time to scale a tree just high enough to get between some of the Oaks and out into the field beyond. If her memory served her right, it was a straight shot out of the field, back into the treeline, and then boom, home free!

The main problem with that? The field that had been almost empty on her way in was now filled to the brim with Grass type pokemon. They'd gathered here once they felt the disturbances in the Chi flow, and were now staring at Maia and the rose as if they didn't know what to do. They wanted to protect the rose, but destroy the girl. Could they destroy one without harming the other?

Maia took advantage of their confusion. In an act of desperation, she released Finn, her Beautifly. He wasn't sure when he'd been returned, but he was here now! He let loose a little Quiver dance before ripping a Gust out at the crowd. This caused a ripple of confusion as pokemon toppled over. They collectively figured out that they no longer had their passive boons from the forest, and were kinda defenseless. Well... in a "we don't have a mega advantage" sort of way.

It only took a few seconds for the crowd to realize they were an army and this was just a human and one bug type. Their confusion gave way to anger, and they began gathering chi for a variety of attacks! Powders, vines, bullets, seeds, beams, you name it, it was there! It was the Used car lot of pokemon attacks! Finn couldn't help but take a few... guh, can't say "steps" as he's flying, but he went backwards.

Suddenly, Maia jumped at the pokemon. "HEY." she yelled at them, "IF I SEE ONE MORE ATTACK, I'M EATING THE FLOWER." The pokemon seemed to shuffle around a bit, as if they didn't understand. "....pewpew!" Maia said, shooting a finger gun. She followed it up with making biting motions at the Rose. This seemed to get some of them to understand, and they passed the message on.

This seemed to calm the pokemon down a bit. some dispelled their attacks all together, others just lowered them. Either way, Maia and Finn used this moment of peace to push their way through the crowd. Maia brandished the rose at the pokemon, thrusting it at her mouth if they didn't do as she wanted. They'd waded halfway through when the oak trees exploded.

The Wreath Drake, back at 100%, came flying through the clouds of bark and splinters. The trees groaned as they fell, one toward the garden, the other towards the field. The sheer size of the tree caused many pokemon to flee in panic. Seems no one wants a tree to fall on them, not even grass types!

Maia wasted no time in getting out of there. There was just no time to go on threatening pokemon to get them out of the way. She pulled her arm back, and placed a clean punch square in the face of a Simisage. It stumbled backwards into a Servine, and the two collapsed into a tangled green pile. Maia used the Simisage's belly like a springboard, and although it didn't propel her like she wanted, it would keep at least two pokemon on the ground for a bit.

Maia threw herself into a group of Deerling, and grabbed one by the face. A simple shove threw it into the one next to it. A few reered up for an attack, but found themselves slapped with a Gust from Finn. Somewhere behind her, pokemon were crying out, as if they were being knocked out of the way in a very comical fashion. Maia knew the Drake was on her heels. She had no time for any of this.

"Rose!" She shouted, hoping this would work. To her surprise, the flower seemed to shiver a bit, as if it recognized her. "Hold on tight." As soon as the words left her mouth, roots grew from the bottom of the flower, wrapping themselves around Maia's arm, save for the thorns this time. Maia let out a tiny breath she didn't know she'd been holding, and took off at a sprint.

The pokemon became a blur. The grass was a blur. She could only see the edge of trees where she and Hank had been blasted through. Could only smell the roses on the pokemon coming after her. Could only hear the chaos that came before the snake. One missed step, and the beast would be on her. Finn moved ahead of her, dancing as he went to boost his speed. Maia could feel the Drake closing in. Its breath was raking across her nose and stinging her eyes.

Maia clamped her eyes shut as the Drake's tongue grazed her. Was this it?! No! Noo!!!

SNAP!!

Maia tumbled to the ground and scrambled to her feet. The Serperior's jaws had missed her by mere inches! She patted herself down to make sure.Adrenaline could have been keeping her from feeling that her entire backside was missing, for all she knew. Turns out the Drake hadn't missed.... Maia had to fight the urge to fall to her knees and weep, mourning her disfiguration. Now wasn't the time! She had to keep going!

The Drake pulled its head back once more, but maia ducked behind a tree. It didn't do much in the form of cover, as it was snapped in half by the snake in less than a second. Splinters rained down on Maia as she sprinted out from cover. "Finn! Do something!" she called out, having lost track of the pokemon.

From off to her right, Finn came flying in to the rescue, using his boosted Special attack to hurl thick purple needles at the Serperior. Maia was glad that this thing wasn't invincible. The Drake screeched and did its best to dodge the purple needles, waiting for a break in the onslaught. Maia took off once more, jumping over stumps and tall grass and rocks, and even smaller pokemon. Finn was right behind her, and so was the Drake.

The farther she went, the thicker the trees got. They seemed to be leaning inward, their branches falling strategically, their roots raising higher. This was clearly the work of the Roses adorning the snake's hood, but they didn't account for how slippery Maia was. She'd ducked and jumped over roots, rolled away from branches, and kicked off of trees in order to stay out of the reach of that snake. The Drake wasn't as agile, but had no problem in smashing his way through the trees in order to get that rose back. This human was not leaving this forest with that thing in hand! wait, what? SHT! She'd gotten out of the forest. No matter. The Drake simply crashed out of the tree line and continued chasing her through the marshy area.

Maia screamed. "DO YOU EVEN GIVE UP?!" She howled. Finn made a quick aerial move and ended up facing the Drake. He fired off a Gust, but the winds seemed to have no effect. Mainly due to the fact that his winds were swallowed whole by the hurricane of leaves he'd been engulfed with.

Maia returned the pokemon and stared down the snake. No pokemon to battle with. No real way to escape... what to do?

"So, I guess you forgot about me, huh?"

THAT'S RIGHT, GRAY!
"THAT'S RIGHT, GRAY! Is probably what you're thinking, there, fakey. You're out of the forest there, sweet cheeks. Chi scanner says that this thing is acting like a bubble, the big bad is the source, but the chi itself is confined to that forest." GRAY droned from Maia's snag. "The chi here is significantly thinner"

"So I can take em?" Maia asked, standing as still as the Drake was.

"Yeah, go get em tiger. Say, what do you want me to write on your tombstone?"

"Ok, I'm guessing he's no weaker than before."

"Oh look whose hunk of grey matter still works!"

"Huh? whatever, just get Claydol to get me out of here!"

Suddenly, Claydol appeared infront of Maia. She leaped at the pokemon and grabbed on, feeling a hurricane of leaves erupt around them. a chunk of the attack seemed to come with them during the teleport, cutting into the both of them to a point where Maia and the chunk of the Leaf Storm were thrown into a puddle outside the forest.

Maia laid there in a crumpled heap until the ministorm calmed down. She was cut up something fierce, and could see blood mixing with the puddle's water. She stood up as best she could and looked around.

Chirp remembered this as the other side of the Pinwheel forest. The Nacrene side. There was a road that cut clean through the forest around here, but getting through wasn't her goal.

Maia checked the time. Almost an hour and a half had passed. Gah, that had seemed like an eternity. She could see Nacrene city in the distance. Should she get medical attention? She took a quick inventory of her injuries. Loads of cuts and bruises were scattered on her body. Her shoes were on the verge of falling apart. Lastly, there was the results of her most recent snake bite... Almost the whole thing was gone. What was left was jagged and messy. It was hot and sticky with hot chlorophyll.... Maia was glad she wasn't able to look at it. the feel alone was enough to make her want to throw up.

That thing had cut her hair.
PostPosted: Wed May 30, 2012 10:03 am

Her beautiful amber locks had fallen to her ankles before. Now it barely reached her shoulders. Maia shuddered, having lost more than three feet of hair in a matter of seconds. What would the clefairy stylists say? Oh, they were dead. they'd been stuffed in lockers in order for Maia's escape to be expedited. So when the ship detonated.... ugh, bad thoughts.

Maia composed herself. OK, less hair. Now you'll just look more Chirpish, if that's supposed to be a good thing... Other than the hairloss, she'd be ok, right?

Wrong. With all these open wounds, Maia was losing blood. Not enough to kill her right away, or anytime soon really. The problem was that her blood contained the medicine that was keeping her alive. The almost 11 hours she had would probably have been halved. She still needed to find this kid and convince him to teach her stuff! Then, how much time would it take for her to find a way to solve the problem?

Maia, thankfully, was unaware of the shift in time frames. So she took a leisurely stroll into the forest.

Five hours. Five hours of wandering around in the trees. The sun had set, and Maia was reduced to stumbling around in the dark. To make matters worse, she was starting to feel woozy. She'd blamed it on the blood loss, but those wounds had stopped bleeding hours ago. Maia had no idea where she was. The trees were so thick that she couldn't see the sky or any kind of landmark. Even if they weren't, it was pitch black out.

Maia slumped against a tree and held up the Rose. It seemed perfectly fine. It was the only source of light in this whole forest. Its faint glow seemed reassuring, despite the fact that the world was shaking. The roots around Maia's arm seemed to hum, as if the rose was singing a soft melody.

The tune grew louder, until it was a gentle little woodsy sounding song. Like birds singing in the morning, or fields of grain swaying in the grass. Somewhere, in the distance, another tune began. This one was older... like the groan of an old tree. The trickle of a stream, or the hollow whispers of a time tested cave. These songs were so peaceful. Maia just closed her eyes for a second... just to rest her eyes...

...and was promptly slapped awake!

Maia, wide eyed and startled, stared at the boy infront of her. He was dressed in nothing. Thankfully a puff of hair wound around his waist. The puff matched the hair on his head!

Maia found herself hoping silently that the bottom set of hair was some kind of pants and wasn't a huge forest of pubes. 'Tis a vulgar thought, that, But Maia was delirious. Cut her some slack.

Before her stood Boyce, Boy of nature. He was smiling at her, as if a little kid had just been reunited with their favorite babysitter. He held up a golden Rose, which had a brilliant glow around it. From it, that earthy tune hummed again. groan, groan, then the sound of wind making its way through the trees.

Maia rose an eyebrow. Her Rose seemed to produce a sound as well. The rustling of leaves, then a twig snapping.

Boyce seemed... confused. He rose his Rose again and a different tune played.

Maia chuckled. Here she was sitting face to face with the boy she'd come to meet, and now they were playing musical plants.

Boyce smiled, and plucked her Rose from her hand. The vines zipped back into the stem as if they were high tension strings. He then Gently laid the rose on Maia's chest, and let his flower hum again.

"Are you alright?" He hummed.

Maia's eyes lit up. He wasn't exactly talking to her... he was... kinda just sending messages through the roses. Her hand had been wrapped in the roots, and she hadn't been making actual contact. Maia nodded, and said, "Yes. I'm fine!" Her pure white rose hummed softly, like the crackle of dried leave and more twigs snapping.

Boyce frowned. Apparently, her rose had snitched on her. "You're sick?" he hummed. "I didn't know you were sick..." He pushed away from Maia slightly, turning to leave. "Come back when you're not sick, and we can play, ok?"

Maia looked at Boyce. How was she supposed to talk to him? She'd say one thing, the Rose another. "No, no! Don't go." Maia wheezed, holding up the rose. The flower hummed another song. It seemed to take on the urgency Maia had in her voice.

Boyce turned around and looked at her.

Maia stared at him a second. They weren't talking. They were expressing messages! Maia smiled and held up her rose. She had to work through this language barrier first! She pushed a few feelings into the rose, and got back a weird jumble of emotions, as if the rose was trying to talk over her. Maia projected the feelings a bit more aggressively, and they went through. The rose hummed a jaunty little birdsong.

"I may be a bit unwell, but I can still play!" The White rose hummed

Boyce looked at Maia, obviously concerned. Nonetheless, he rose the Golden Rose and let out another song. "If you're sure.... then let's play SS--" Then the rose let out a different sound. It sounded like the flapping of cotton sheets.

The White rose let out Maia's confusion.

Boyce giggled, and began another song. "Any time you say something with the letter S in it, you have to say SS--" more flapping.

Was Maia too stupid to understand? Was the Rose[.i] too stupid to understand? Had she picked the wrong one?! Maia pushed herself up a bit more and held the rose in her hand.

Boyce's melody continued. "If you don't, then you get hit! Ok, ready?"

Maia shuddered a bit. She was walking into this with one foot tied to her head, but couldn't muster up the strength to ask any questions.

"So, where did you come from, SS-"flapflapflap. Boyce asked. He came back to sit infront of Maia, his face serious. He seemed concerned about this girl. Well, he had found her sorta dying on a tree in the middle of the forest.

"I... I'm from.." Maia tried to piece together the information, but the world was shaking again, and it was getting darker. That seems impossible, but even the stars seemed to be dimming.

Boyce gave her another slap.

"Ow! Quit doing that! what are you, some kind of psycho?" Maia's rose hummed.

Boyce giggled and slapped her a few more times. "I told you the rules! You keep breaking them! SS Strawberry."

Maia blinked. "I guess I lose big time then..." Her rose hummed. She was slapped promptly afterwards. "Hey, I've got an idea." She communicated. In a weird way, Boyce's touch seemed to reinvigorate her. She could still feel death creeping up on her, but at least she had energy to face it. "Let's play a new game. It's called Taboo."

"OH! I know that game!" Boyce's rose sang. "It's where we eliminate letters until someone loses! OK, Z is gone."

Maia chuckled. "Ok, so no talk of Ebras." Boyce rose an eyebrow, as if he didn't understand. "A is gone."

"Huh? We're doing it like th-" Boyce stopped, and counted on his fingers. "Your method is weird." He managed to get out. "Y is no more."

"Hm, Guess when my birthnight is!" Maia smiled, carefully trying to worm her way through the conversation. "No more B."

"I guess tomorrow." Boyce grinned widely, his short sentence coming out like a jab. " who uses X? No one? Not us!"

"I concur." Maia retorted. Boyce giggled. Maia had stole his strategy! "C is out."

"Ok, pokemon in spheres should join us." Boyce stumbled through that last one. It was obvious that without A,B,C, and Y, it was hard to put a coherent sentence together. Boyce counted on his fingers again, then said, "W is gone."

Maia coughed slightly. "I forgot. The list inluded huht?" Maia communicated.

Boyce looked at her. "Huh? oh, The list is: A,B,C,W,X,Y,Z, and now D."

Maia smiled. "I win."

Boyce rose an eyebrow at her. "What do you mean? I won, 'cause you asked what the list included!"

"I said: The list inluded huht, then you said every Taboo letter. I super win." Maia began to laugh, her trickery knows no bounds! Boyce joined in their laughter. The two of them sat there, enjoying that moment.

Oh, yeah, I'd forgotten about the part where Maia suddenly gave a loud, violent cough, sending a spatter of blood onto her legs. The coughing continued for a little bit before Maia settled down into a loud wheeze.

Boyce cried out, stammering in gibberish. It was probably some old language, but Maia's three quarters dead brain was nowhere near a point to decipher it. He picked up his rose and shook it.

"I knew it! You're sick! S.. Stop! Stop being sick! I don't want to be alone anymore!"

Maia barely had a grip on the rose. "I don't have a choice... I'll stay here... I'll just be real quiet." Her rose hummed.

Boyce began pacing around. He looked at Maia, then around at the trees. He began to whimper. "Nonono! Please don't go! We have more games to play! I.. I didn't get to show you the big trees! No! Please!"

Maia wheezed a bit more. Some part of her yearned to stay with Boyce. She knew how it felt to be alone. To be in a place with so much life, but still somehow alone.

Boyce spun around, looking at Maia's rose. Apparently, it had begun to make a sound like soft piano keys. Boyce rushed over to Maia and put a hand on her forehead. He turned and began running around the trees, feeling around on them too. After a second, he rushed back to Maia with an armload of twigs and leaves. He dumped them on Maia's lap and pressed his hands on Maia's face. Little droplets of sap were making their way down his face! He was crying!

Suddenly, Boyce began to shake Maia's head! This was some pretty weird alternative medicine. All it really did was make Maia's lap dirty, and then make her a brain smoothy. A gentle hum came from somewhere, but Maia's vision was clouding over, and her hearing was on its way out.

Maia shut her eyes. For a last day, it'd been pretty cool. She got to see some sights, fight off mortal terror, and had fun with Boyce. In the end, she'd forgotten why she'd even come out here. It was just nice to have her final moments be happy......
.........

.......
.....
...
..

Maia awoke with a start. there was something on her. Light seemed to come through thin breaks in whatever was covering her! Maia threw off this covering, and found it was just grass. She'd been wrapped in a grass cocoon... nearby a lake sparkled in the sunlight, and several fruit bearing trees surrounded the area. Maia sat up. She was in the shade of an Evergreen. It must have been, as pine needles made up the bed below her. A bed of needles, and a blanket of grass.... Not exactly her idea of what heaven would be like. Do clones even go to anywhere?

Maia took a whiff of the air. Ohsnap the smells were powerful. It was like having a whiff of fresh air after having your nose professionally cleaned.

Suddenly, a wild Boyce appeared. He poked his head out from behind a nearby tree and rushed over. "It worked! It worked!!" His rose sang. "I was afraid you wouldn't wake up... I.. I... I'm so glad."

Maia looked at him. What was he talking about? what worked? A hand wandered to her collar bone, and found the smooth touch of a rose! Maia gasped and shot to her feet. She was a bit wobbly, as if her legs were longer. She made her way to the lake and took a look. Her Millennium rose was resting in the middle of her collar bone. Its roots ran along the bone and under the skin. It looked a bit gross, but it seemed to be keeping her alive! Aside from that, a little flower was in her hair... which was green.... Why was her hair green? Not only that, but her shoulders and upper arms had a layer of green fur on them! They were ringed by a yellow border... It was like she was part Deerling.

Maia spent the next few minutes coming to grips with her new appearance. By "Coming to grips" I mean sitting around with Boyce and having a nice breakfast of fruit and roots.

"So, I'm part pokemon now?" She asked, picking apart some kind of beet.

"Boyce nodded, his mouth full of lemon. "I put the rose on you to help you live! There was so much Chi that it overloaded and kinda made you into more than you were... but either way, you're alive! We can play again!"

Maia nodded. "Yeah, we can! I'm sure you could show me all about being part pokemon, right?"

"Of course! And you'll show me all the new stuff from outside right? Like the mean thingy?"

Maia rose a green eyebrow. "Mean thingy?"

GRAY spoke up from her SNAG. "He means me. When you died last night I was trying to confirm your death, and he kept making noises at me. It took me all night to decipher the way you two have been chatting, and I have to say.... you two are pretty immature. Then again, what do I expect from you?"

"Oh! Yeah, sure! I can show you that stuff no problem. In fact, My househouse isn't far from here, so I can visit all the time!" Maia said, biting into the root. It was definitely some kind of Beet. "But for now, I gotta let my friends know that I'm ok, ok?"

Boyce seemed a bit sad, but nodded. "It's ok! I'll be here! just come on by whenever!"

Maia gathered her stuff and summoned Claydol. With a final nod to Boyce, she'd teleport off to HQ.

Objective:
---Travel to the Sevii Islands and collect the items required, the first being the Golden Spores of an ancient Parasect deep within the Pattern Bush maze.
---The next item is either a Starf Berry (for hybrids) or an Enigma Berry (for Channelers) growing deep within Berry Forest, protected by either the Oddish line (For hybrids) or the Bellsprout line (for Channelers).
---Once you have both items head to Cape Brink and till the soil at the top of the waterfall, mixing into the soil the ground up remains of the Golden Spores and the berry you gained. You are then to plant your Millenium Rose in this prepared land and guard it from wild Pokemon for twenty-four hours, giving it time to undergo change and become the De Novo Rose which will grant you your power.

Opposition:
---The wild Pokemon of Pattern Bush will surely get in your way as you make your way through the maze. Various Bug Pokemon live here, enemies to Grass types, they consist of Spinarak, Ariados, Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Caterpie, Metapod, Butterfree, Heracross, Ledyba, and Ledian. This also include the Golden Mushroom Parasect, which will not allow you to take its precious spores without a difficult fight, it's incredibly old and wise, having fought many battles its self.
---The wild Pokemon of Berry Forest will also prove to be a problem, these Pokemon include Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Venonat, Venomoth, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Drowzee, Hypno, Psyduck, Slowpoke, Exeggcute, and Exeggutor. There is also the leader of the groups of Oddish/Bellsprout, a powerful Vileplume/Victreebel, the alpha male of the packs which will not allow you to take a berry from their precious trees, not without a fight first.
---Finally you must also deal with the wild Grass Pokemon which will be attracted to your Millenium Rose as it slumbers, these Pokemon include Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Oddish, Gloom, Hoppip, Skiploom, and Tangela.

"I won't fail you, Boyce!" Maia said. After days of trying to play games with Boyce, and failing miserably at all of them, Boyce decided to even the playing field with his playmate. He'd given her strict instructions, and she was determined to succeed!

From atop Hawk's Wailord, Maia stood proudly against the wind! The crashing waves and the sounds of Wingulls calling were the perfect background music for this epic journey!!

"...So.....I hate to bring this up again.." Hawk said. He was sitting down and directing his Wailord with his hands. "..But the last time I saw you, you were kinda dead... or dying.... whatever. You disappear for a while, then next thing I know I get a call saying to needed a ride to these islands. So, This brings up a few questions. You can't push me and tell me 'not now' now, since we're in the middle of effing nowhere."

Maia flicked her tail slightly and turned to look at Hawk. "Fiiiiine. Gosh! What is it?! I don't even understand why we just can't sail in silence."

"One, surf We're Surfing. Ten isn't a Sail boat. Two, Why. are. you. green?!"

"Wha-?! I'm not green!! My Fur is green." Maia huffed a bit, stomping her foot on the Wailord's back. A very angry Wail song and a puff of air from Ten's blowhole made Maia stop stomping. In fact, she even bent down and patted the pokemon. "er.. Sorry, girl. Uhm.. Anyway, Boyce, the guy that stabbed me with this Rose." She indicated the sparkling white rose embedded on her collar bone. "He kinda put too much chi in me when he was trying to keep me from dying. So, I've been becoming more and more pokemon like... or I'm becoming a pokemon? I don't know."

Hawk snickered a bit.

"What? What?! What is so funny?"

"You really are another Chirp!"

"....No I'm not!"

"Yeah, you say 'I don't know' the same way she do-"

"WE'RE NOT THE SAME!!" Maia shouted.

Hawk, a smile still on his face, said, "says the person who spent the greater half of their existence trying to replace her."

Maia, at a loss for words, turned back around.

To say that the rest of the trip was quiet would have been an understatement.
