"Oh, kind of like a Poketch?" Luke looked to the device on his wrist as he drew the comparison. The little device was simple enough to use and was capable of a number of functions, one of which was storing map and position information. The touch-to-use feature sounded similarly familiar, though the thought of inputting words raised another concern. "Does it work with other languages too?"

"Ah, yes," Frost nodded as he spotted the device, "more or less like that... So far as I am aware, however, it only works in English. It is possible that there is a way to input other languages, but if there is I have not noticed it before, and I am a very observant person in general. I am not, however, infallible so it is worth checking if you do not read English." He certainly spoke it well enough if it wasn't his native tongue.

He frowned at this. It was a small inconvenience, but it was still an inconvenience. "I can read it okay, I guess, but I'm no good at writing unless the words are already similar," he said with a shrug, fiddling momentarily with the aforementioned Poketch. "I think I installed a translation app, though, so it's not too much of a problem..." The fact that it was a problem at all was mildly frustrating, but oh well... Not like he could walk up to someone and demand they translate the entire machine for him. Or could he...? No, that was probably a bad idea.

"Mmmh, well that is good," Frost nodded slightly, "so long as you will be able to -" A sudden jolt from the list made Frost pause mid sentence. A moment later, however, the lift began to move upwards once more and the small man nodded again, this time in satisfaction. "Faster than I expected. Mmh. So long as you will be able to manage. I will show you where the map it though; it is quite prominent, but not knowing what to look for you might walk straight past it." He wondered what had been wrong with the lift. No voice came from the speaker, which he found a little rude, but he was not put out enough to press the bell demanding an explanation. Chances were whoever was on the other end of the line didn't actually know in any case.

The sudden movement caught Luke completely off-guard, and for a moment he suspected that one of the buttons he had pressed on the Poketch was the cause. He reached the proper conclusion in short order, though, and gave an approving nod at the closed doors as though they were the responsible entity. Not hours. Damn good that it wasn't, too.
"Okay," he accepted with another nod, tilting forward slightly so that his weight no longer rested against the wall in preparation to disembark. Before he forgot to do so, he checked the proper spelling for his desired item in the Poketch's translator. He frowned slightly at the word. 'Sword.' What an awkward way to spell something.

Though there was no visible change in his demeanour, Frost relaxed internally somewhat as he stepped out of the lift. Thank goodness that was over. It could have been a lot worse, the young man hadn't been smelly or dirty and rude, but he still hadn't like being trapped with him. "There," the small man gestured at a wall ahead of them, into which a screen was set. Walking over to it, Frost pressed quickly through a few simple options until he reached 'search', and a keyboard came up on screen.
"Now you just need to type in the item you are searching for, and it will tell you if it is available here. If nothing comes up you could try to be less specific, more specific, or to use a synonym. Mmh. Is there anything else you require?" He hoped not, he had his own errands of attend to. If the boy did need anything more he might have to polity decline to assist, especially if it sounded like it would take a while. Politeness went both ways after all; it was rude to ask too much of a stranger.

"Wow, like a huge Poketch," Luke observed as he regarded the wall-mounted screen. Glancing at his wrist once more to assure he had the correct spelling in mind - why in the world did the word 'sword' need a W in it anyway? - he inputted the letters with only the slightest hesitation, noting the names and locations of the items that the search returned.
"Huh. Cool." Well, that was simple enough. The mall was a pretty convenient place, as long as one avoided the elevators... "Uhh, no, don't think so," he replied with a partial shrug. "Ah, well... Luke." He folded his arms, turning his attention elsewhere. "'Smy name." Now he had only to hope that the guy didn't ask why he was giving his name - because it certainly wasn't due to any feelings of camaraderie or gratitude. He just liked his name. Of course.

"Oh. Luke. Right." Apparently he wasn't going to get away without giving the boy a name to call him by in return. At least he had planned for this. "You may call me D... A sort of a 'nickname', not really my name, but I dislike my name so I never use it. Anyway, I am glad to have been of assistance. Enjoy the rest of your day. Perhaps I will see you around the city again sometime."
Right, that seemed to be all the social niceties dispensed with, time to head off. Giving the red-haired youth a polite nod, Frost turned away and set off in search of the hardware store; Team Rocket provided all of the tools he needed to do his work but... Well, he just liked having his own, knowing that nobody else used them. That was probably odd, but no odder at least than not knowing what a lift was. It was quite nice not to be the only strange person in the world.

D? Like the letter? Or maybe it was Dee, or Di, or... something. Well, whatever. It wasn't really any of Luke's business or concern how the man spelled his name of choice anyway. "Right. Uh... Later, I guess." It was still kind of weird, meeting and parting with strangers. He was used to dismissing people from his company and then speaking to them again alter that day. He was used to seeing the same set of faces from day to day, week to week. He was used to consistency and familiarity, and he wasn't sure he would ever be able to get used to anything else.
But that didn't matter for now. For now, he had a destination to reach and a purchase to make, and he started off towards that destination at a confident pace, knowing just a little bit more about the world around him than he had when he had entered the mall.
