Z4 scrambled to his feet, positively trembling as he juggled his mace from hand to hand before finally catching his grip. Z8 had rushed off to the side, thankfully having missed his horribly embarrassing battle cry. Well... well, he'd just have to impress her by doing a better job the next time. He nodded to himself, but was still shaking as he stormed closer to the heaving monster. He just... needed to get closer to get a better shot, that was all! He could DO this!
His head still smarted.

[Zeta Eleven is Entering the Thread and AttackOHMYGODWHATTHEHELLISTHAT?]
By the time Zeta Eleven had made his way to the fight, numerous members of Zeta and Alpha had already formed around the monstrosity, flailing at the beast with varying levels of futility. The scene was akin to watching gnats swarming a viscous looking dog, except the gnats were people and the dog was a twenty-foot high horse breathing fire and inspiring in Eleven the desire to run very far away.
Which is exactly what he would have done if not for the faintest glint of light dangling from around the creature's bulging neck. A pendant. No, survival, inches away from teeth built for the express purpose of rending flesh and bone. How appropriate.
Once again bag was flipped over shoulder and unzipped, though this time the small handgun was actually pulled out from within its confines. As his pack hit the sand at his feet, he lifted the weapon, staring down the barrel and lining the beast up in his sights. It briefly occurred to him that he wasn't entirely sure how to use a gun. He had always assumed the knowledge would just come to him, but standing there with the hunk of metal feeling so unfamiliar in his gloved hands, he realized misfiring and accidentally hitting a fellow squad member was a distinct possibility. Which... wouldn't be detrimental, per se, but perhaps a little embarrassing.
His lack of confidence in his own abilities made him hesitate, but so too did the realization that he was about to fire a gun without saying something clever. That's not how these kinds of things worked. There were rules. Standards to uphold. Eleven could not for the life of him explain why, but he knew that he could not fire a single shot without spouting at least one cool line. Yet his attempts to think of anything proved fruitless, his wit not exactly as sharp as his ability to calculate odds and situations.
All he could manage to do was to grab onto an errant strand from the blank recesses of his memory, a glimmer of something he may have spent many hours of his life watching.
"MY GUN IS THE GUN THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!" Finger pulled the trigger, the recoil of the shot reverberated through his arm, and eyes clenched shut. When they reopened, he blinked, realizing he had not so much as even accidentally killed one of his teammates.
Huh. So it really was possible to miss the broad side of a barn.

Still pissed that his efforts to retrieve the pendant single-handily failed, Alpha Eight made his way to the sidelines and surveyed the area once more. Both teams seemed to be doing more damage to themselves than the large horse demon, but it couldn't be helped. They would continue to amuse him with their Saturday morning cartoon antics while he was stuck cleaning up the mess. A amused grin formed under his gasmask and he tried to remain as stoic as possible. As he continued to gaze through the crowd, he thought he saw Alpha Three watching the others as well. That was one to watch. Too serious and definitely too quiet. A very bad combination in Alpha Eight's book. However, he would leave that be for now and focus on finding Alpha One. The boss of their so-called team. Though in his current state, Alpha Eight continued to be amused by his usage of the nunchuks. Adorable effort, really. He deserved to live a little longer.
"Hey Alpha One, you okay?"
Rushing over, Alpha Eight figured he needed to play this one cool. Too much confusion for him to feel safe amongst the crowd of people. Never knew who was up to what, especially with the other team mixed into the battle.

[SRY OVEREXCITEMENT FROM JUST WAKING UP, ignore the attack part <3]
Most of the rest of the team had made it (YEAH FINALLY), and were working together to bring down the boss. α X, though... had her own problem to deal with. Not as big as the boss, but.. big enough.
A problem that had just wrapped an arm around her waist, IGNORING her attempt to be cool, and pulled her back. What gave, man? Sure, he was big-sized, but that didn't mean he could hog the spotlight.
"It's nice to know you're serious about something at least."
"I like guys who are serious."

Z12 ran from the spot he had attacked and as far from the Apocalypse Pony as he could. He turned back again, looking around at his team mates.
What... were they DOING?! Almost all of them seemed to be attacking themselves. He stared in horror for a moment, his bottom lip shaking. This was just awful. Would they be okay? There isn't time to be staring! Right, right. The horse from Hell was still there. 12 took a shaky breath, gathering his courage. He had to fight. He needed that pendant. He needed to live.

Zeta Six moved back as far as he could and ducked under the firing of several guns... many bullets straying. He was getting grumpier. "It's not like it's small of a target!" he muttered loudly, though to himself.
Over the wind he could hear Zeta Seven's voice. God that guy was loud, but he had a point. He scanned his eyes over the chaos to watch the various members of both groups attempt to bring down the beast. With a glimpse up he stared at the pendant. It meant freedom, safety... Was that another bullet?
He ducked and made a fleeing motion towards him. At least he had a gun.

The creature finally shifted, just slightly, dark vacant eyes staring at a point beyond its attackers. It did not even budge an inch at the onslaughts: were the attacks even effective, how the heck were they supposed to beat it?
It pawed against the ground, restlessly, before its mouth open, a wide gaping abyss of serrated fangs.
"So you want this pendant."
It probably took even the brightest of squad members a good few seconds before comprehension dawned in: the creature was actually talking. The pendant still shimmered around its neck, as if to emphasize a point.
"I will give it to you, willingly, but not without a price. My price is simple: I need a sacrifice. Kill someone, kill anyone here and I will give you the pendant. Just one person. One person. And everyone else will be free as well, I will leave peacefully."
Just one person and someone else could be guaranteed safety. (( OOC: THE AFTERMATHPART 2- ??? is waiting for a single sacrifice to be made. They will drop the pendant at the next GM post (ETA 12 hours) if a sacrifice has been made - ie: a student's HP has dropped to 0. - IT IS NOW FREE FOR ALL PVP. You CANNOT LEAVE this battle, the ??? creature simply WILL NOT LET YOU LEAVE. You will die instantly. - Anyone can attack ANYONE, but make sure your attacker responds before you post again. - Example: I am person A and I choose target B. I cannot attack target B Again until target B has responded. - Example 2: I am person A and my friend is person C, and we attack target B. Both of us cannot respond until target B has responded. - Example 3: I am person A, and my allies, person B, and person C and person D come in, more can come in to attack target B, just not the same people in one turn. - Target B will be docked activity points for evident failure to respond. Please do not be a poor sport and pretend to be "afk" the entire boss fight. We will instantly KO anyone who tries this. - Please also justify in your attack an IC reason to attack said person. People can even debate and argue about w ho should be attacked first, before swinging the weapon wildly. After all, the squad members aren't wild animals, maybe they should reason with each other first.... - You are free to exit the thread once a GM has made the appropriate post ETA: 12 hours - The same battle rules apply, make sure to post accordingly thank you and good luck! ))

A11 was still trying to figure out this whole gun thing when the giant dragon-horse thing started speaking. It could talk?!
It's words sent a shiver down her spine. A sacrifice? They had to kill someone? Everything that A11 had been hoping would not happen was just laid out before her. This is crazy! Why? Why are we here? Why do we have to kill each other? She looked around at the others nearby. Suits of red and orange, two teams who had formed the shakiest of alliances. What would they decide?
Alpha Eleven had only one question:
"Is it worth it? Why...Why do we have to kill one of us?" Alright, maybe two questions.

"Another test," A-One said into the silence that followed the horse's pronouncement and A-Eleven's question. "Are we going to turn on each other without thinking, or do we make a calm decision?" He looked around the group. "If we fight it out, more of us will get hurt; you get hurt, you won't be able to deal with this place as well. Fairest way I can see is to draw straws." He grimaced. "I don't like this one bit, but we haven't made a dent on it. Only on ourselves."
He looked to Z-Four, the corners of his mouth pulling down under the mask, though the other man couldn't see it. "Sorry, man," he said. "Better one down than all of us."

Clearly it was necessary for those pendants to be in play, A-Three noted, and scowling faintly (though a tad astonished at the creature's sudden desire to communicate), he glanced over towards A-One. That one always seemed to have the ideas, and A-Three certainly wasn't planning on potentially villianizing himself this early in the game. However, if someone made a stand that actually seemed to make some sense, then he could just as easily join with them, and make it a cause.
However, he kept his eyes open, glancing around at his teammates, and those who had come to join them, his fingertips tightening ever so subtly on his dagger. Whichever way this was decided, he was going to side with the way that had the highest chance of survival for himself. It was all a risk, but...
...ah yes, drawing straws, now there was an idea...and what? He had less than a 1/20th of a chance of dying? There. Those were betting odds. "I concur with A-One." He spoke up, eyeing the others, and most notably A-Five. Hell, the upstart had best not go to question him now. "If we do this...then the pendants will be in play, as is necessary, and we will likely no longer have to deal with this creature." A gesture to the nightmarish horse, as Three moved closer to their self-titled leader.

Fiver just stared at Bossy. For a good minute or two. Draw STRAWS? Was he for ********' serious? "You have got to be crazy. I don't even know half of you well enough to trust you not to cheat, and I'm not about to leave my personal goddamn survival up to CHANCE," he growled, glaring at Three. How the hell could he AGREE with this?
"I say we just beat that thing's face in," he muttered then, pointing his mace at Death Pony. "Or else I'll just kill a*****e, how about that?"

Z4 staggered as he backed up to join their growing troupe, "K-k-kill? Is... is that really necissary?" He couldn't remember if he had any personal experience with horses, but as far as he could wrap his head around they always seemed like such NICE beasts, pretty and serene, interested in grass and playing with little girls.
This one seemed to have missed that memo.
At least it seemed a giant, thundering, monstrous talking horse was enough to convince him that perhaps there was more to those mysterious text messages than he wanted to believe.
"S-straws? I... I suppose but... but I mean, there's an AWFUL lot of us!" The invisible soapbox was back, perhaps out of sheer desperate self preservation, "An AWFUL lot! We have a whole able bodied army here! We could take that creature if we all try our best! I am with Mister Fiver!" It was better to die defending your principals, he had always felt. Although actually facing putting that theory in practice... made his voice wobble around the edges.

"Yeah lets play games with people's lives and watch someone die unwillingly, brilliant." As much as he hated following in Kitten's steed, he had to glare at A 1 as well. A sacrifice was called a sacrifice because it chose to die not it being decided for him.
This was a damn Kangaroo trial.
You want to draw straws and fiddle around with peoples lives fine, but it said to kill someone, kill anyone here." he said out loud to those around him and pointing his gun at the four legged beast. "And I choose that." he wouldn't bother commenting on the kitten's comment because, well...
it was a kitten, who gave a rats a** what it was talking about, just shut up and try to look cute.
