A lot of people will simply place a pentacle on their front page. Some people simply put their name (usually Craft name). Others will draw a picture, or find a picture of the Goddess (or a patron Deity if they have one) that particularly speaks to them.
Don't use something "just because", especially in your BoS. If the rune means nothing to you, it's pointless and not right to put into your BoS, regardless of what any book or anyone else may say it's meaning is. Don't include runes just because they're "magical", same with random goddess pictures, tarot cards, or any symbol really.
There is no RIGHT symbol or wording... only what is right for YOU. But think carefully about it.

Sickly Psycho Ash Sahara Sweetypop MrsBHavin you dont always have to title it right away if you wait, in time the book should tell you its name in some way. because if you name it,and the book doesnt agree with the name, then you thing wont go right if that makes any sense at all But I had it all planeed out already, I knew for sure I wanted to have a beginning symbol when I picked out the Chines one. But then I looked into the runes and couldn't decide. Besides, it's not the title of the book, it's just the first page. The thing is that I'm never gonna put an ending symbol, to show that it ill always be continued. that is kinda what I was gonna do, but I'm gonna use the rune and the arabic form of the word. Good luck with your book! I've noticed everyone seems to want to use runes for their book of shadows. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what could represent you or your book? the goddess symbol.celtic triad, the triquetra, the triquetra knot, star of david, the power star, the pentacle, egyptian hieroglyphs, BOS, celtic knot, pentagram, a cauldron, a bosom, a chalice, a bat or plain and simple a black cat... it is after all what you make of it... biggrin

My ideas were to just wait a while it just seems that there arn't many differences among the ideas for the book of shadows covers and what not. I just wanted to see what other ideas were out there. biggrin

Galdrea i know i'm discovering this way late, but what if you don't really do spells? do you need a BoS? could you even have a BoS on the computer? just wondering A BoS isn't only for spells. It's basicly for writing down what you learn concerning your belief.

I have a book set aside for a special project, green leather bound with a celtic knot silver button that a black leather thong wraps around to bind the book closed. When I feel comfortable enough to start a personal BoS, I'll most likely use it unless it's jumped out at me screaming to be used for something that comes along before that. 3nodding Book auras screaming always weirds me out o.o "READ ME!" Damn you, I just wanted to walk to the kitchen! >.<

I'd use the one I thought was prettier in a case like that... redface
My first page is covered in protection symbols and runes and such like, and the actual copy is a binder, and it is purply pink (I have to disguise it from prying little brothers and parents).
