Claire felt the need to stretch as well, though not because she was used to motorbikes instead - no, she was only used to riding on Odette everywhere. It was so much easier, so much simpler than driving a car. So much safer, too. The amount of trust she placed in cars and the people that drove them was extremely limited, while she trusted Odette absolutely and put her faith in the bird's flying abilities more than her own in a car.
Anyway.
"Hm? Oh." Honestly she was a little surprised he remembered, but then again, why wouldn't he? He'd been pissed as all hell when he'd found out that wasn't her real name - it was a nickname, but it still wasn't her real, full name - so it actually seemed likely that he would remember it. "Yeah, it makes things easier." It was a precaution of sorts, one not all Rockets utilized when coming out into the city, but then again Claire considered herself an extremely careful person. Which brought up the thought... "What about you?" The question was asked as she caught up to walk next to him, peering at him curiously out of the corner of her violet eyes. If he wanted to still be Aulus in the city - since he had been for.. how long? She wasn't too sure - that was his business, or if he wanted another name or something. Either way it didn't really matter to her. Right now, the only thing that was of any sort of importance was the matter of lunch. Mmmm, pasta...

Right. Lucy it was; Lucy with casual clothes, a goofy pikachu, and no sinister motives. Claire with the uniform, the web of deceit, the coloured contact lenses. Who did the hazel eyes behind them belong to? What colour was her hair? Why had she set herself on this course in life?... Why should he give a damn? She was just a colleague, nothing more. "Might as well stick with Aulus," he said with a shrug after a brief pause, "I mean it's not like a different name is going to stop people finding me if they're looking for me. I kind of stick out in a crowd."
At the corner of the street the red-eyed man paused briefly before turning to the right and setting off once more; this was right, the restaurant was just up ahead. "The place we're going is on the corner of this road," he said aloud, "hopefully it won't be too busy." By all rights it shouldn't be; the time it had taken them to drive here would have taken them past the worst of any lunch rush the place might have... Still, when did fortune ever favour him? Knowing his luck, the place would be closed or something.

There was a time when Lucy had more casual clothes than crime uniforms, when she had an energetic little Pidgey rather than a vain and protective Pidgeot, and when the most sinister motive in her little head was playing tricks on her elder sister. Times, however, and people, do tend to change. "Alright," she agreed, oblivious to his thoughts. "And you do stick out a little bit, don't you?" She teased. Why did she act this way again? Originally it was because she wanted to get a reaction out of him, to figure out why he was so abrasive and wanted to come off as some very masculine person, but he didn't seem too bothered by her teasing anymore. He was probably just getting used to it or something and could ignore it now. Yes, that was probably it.
"I doubt it'll be that busy," she said with a shrug. It was.. what time again? Probably pretty close to 1pm, if not after. No, it shouldn't be too busy. Hopefully not, anyway. Either way they'd see for themselves, because just a few more moments of walking brought them to the entrance. Claire reached the door first and entered ahead of Aulus, holding the door for him absently as she studied the interior. There was a sign on some sort of podium that asked them 'please wait to be seated', so she took the time to survey the inside of the restaurant. As if she wasn't hungry enough already, the scent of a variety of pastas, spices and herbs wafted to the front and made her mouth water and her stomach grumble in anticipation. Since when was she this hungry?

"Hu, yea, just a bit," Aulus muttered as they approached the restaurant, "and I'm glad you agree, or noticed, or whatever." He was too hungry to quip properly; he was sure there had been a good comeback in there somewhere, but nevermind. As Claire opened the door a bell tinkled cheerfully, and a moment later a tanned young woman appeared with a welcoming smile on her lips.
"Welcome back!" she said cheerfully to Aulus, gesturing for the pair to follow her. "Two is it today then? Good to see you with a friend this time! Here," she gestured to a table for two, "menus are on the table, specials are up on the board there. Can I get you anything to drink, or would you like a couple of minutes to decide?"
Oh yea, the cheerful girl; he'd nearly managed to forget about her. "Orange juice for me," Aulus responded before picking up his menu and beginning to read; he just knew that if he made eye contact the overly perky girl would try to chat to him more... Or wink at him. She probably thought this was a date. Just what he needed.

Yes, he certainly had gotten accustomed to her teasing. She wasn't quite sure if this was a good or bad thing, however, but she was much too hungry to pay attention to that at the moment. The tinkling of the bell overhead distracted her for a fraction of a second before the cheery waitress arrived - and she seemed to remember Aulus, which begged the question just how often he came here for the waitstaff to remember him.. actually no, as they'd just finished commenting about a few moments ago, he was most certainly a hard person to forget.
Anyway, food. Drinks.
"Cola please," was her choice as she slid into the booth - it was a relatively small booth, to be sure, but there were only two of them, she probably wanted to save larger tables for larger parties - and picked up her own menu. Briefly she wondered if Aulus already knew what he wanted, because if he did she might have to feel a bit bad for taking more time deciding than he, but swiftly realized she wasn't supposed to care. No, it was no skin off her nose if it bothered him, if he even knew what he was getting... why did she care again? That seemed to be a recurring problem, her being much more concerned than she should be. It really didn't make any sense at all.

"Okay," the waitress chirped, beaming at Claire, "I'll be right back with those!"
As the daft woman vanished Aulus looked up from his menu and rolled his eyes, making a motion which said 'I'm pretty sure she drinks heavily'. "Anyway," he shifted slightly so as to be a little further away from Claire, "their pasta's really nice; it's all hand made from scratch, she was telling me all about it last time I was here, same with the sauces and the pizzas and... pretty much everything on the menu except some of the desserts from what I could gather... Mmh." Pizza or pasta? Maybe gnocchi. Well, it wasn't like he had to rush to decide, if Claire knew what she wanted right away she could just wait for him to choose. He wasn't going to let her hurry him.

Why was she looking at her like that...? Claire quickly directed a concerned, mildly confused look to Aulus, but he'd already given her a look in regards to the waitress. Crazy or something, so clearly she'd behaved this way previously. It seemed he wasn't the only person that wasn't easily forgotten. Oh well, no matter.
There was so much to choose from... Pizza wasn't really appealing to her at the moment, so that was out.. Definitely some sort of pasta, but which kind? There were tons of options. Violet eyes passed over the word 'manicotti' and instantly a displeased frown flickered over her face, but just as quickly it was replaced with a completely neutral expression. Now was the time for good food and company - did that imply good company? Possibly, Aulus wasn't too bad. He was buying her lunch, after all - it was not the time to think about Lucas and how much of a jerk he was being, or how she needed to try and talk to him to figure out why he was being a jerk, or how she would manage to do this, or why...
Anyway. Food. Spaghetti, ziti, lasagna... Damn, they had a lot of choices.

So many things with meat in them. They all sounded delicious. There was a pizza with seven different kinds of meat on it. Seven!... The wild mushroom risotto sounded nice, and it was a proper vegetarian one, no grass types slipped in there to fool you like that salad he'd got half way through once. "Want a bowl of olives or anything?" Aulus asked idly as he continued to scan the menu for something that sounded delicious, but that he could eat without his conscience stabbing him. Seven kinds of meat!
"Hia! Here's your drinks!" The waitress beamed at the pair as she set down the two glasses. "Now, are you ready to order, or should I give you a while longer?"

Hmm? Oh, olives. ...they could order a bowl of olives? Was that as some sort of appetizer or something..? Weird. "No thanks, I'm good," she said idly, not taking her eyes off the menu. What to get, what to get...
And then the peppy waitress was back with drinks. "Thank you," she said in an attempt to be polite to the overly-happy woman - seriously, why did she look so... happy? Egh, it was more than a little disconcerting - before pulling the drink over but didn't take a drink yet. At the mention of ordering now or waiting, her violet eyes finally left the menu to direct a questioning look at Aulus. "Are you ready, or..?" She most certainly was not. Not at all. Waaayyy too many choices...

"Not yet," Aulus glowered at the waitress, "we've barely sat down. Just bring me some olives for now." If Claire didn't want any that just left more for him, and he was paying for the whole damn meal anyway so she couldn't whine about bill splitting.
As the waitress vanished with a cheerful 'Okay!', Aulus sighed and shook his head. "Definitely something not right with her," he muttered, "nobody is naturally that perky, she must either be pissed or heavily medicated. Hell, maybe both." In order to minimize contact with the crazy woman he probably ought to work out what he wanted by the time she got back... The risotto did sound pretty good. He hoped Claire didn't order the meat pizza, he'd probably either die of jealousy or steal and eat it; he wasn't entirely sure which would be worse.

A slight sigh escaped the dark-haired young woman as the overly-cheery waitress left, and she agreed with a small nod. "Likely heavily medicated, though I don't think she's pissed. I'd lean more towards having been dropped on her head as a child or something," she commented quietly, violet eyes still perusing the menu. Definitely not lasagna or manicotti. Especially not manicotti. Hmm... Regular spaghetti, ziti, fettuccine.. what did that last one look like again? Tortellini... Arceus, there were so many things that ended with an 'ee' sound it made her head spin. Seriously, it seemed like everything on the menu ended in that or included it at least half a dozen times in the name.
"Do you have an idea of what you'll get?" She asked casually, sparing a glance at the man across from her. Maybe he'd give her an idea of what she should get... Or maybe not. Either way she'd better figure it out before the creepily cheery waitress came back.

"Uh... Yea, I think I'll have the wild mushroom risotto," Aulus said after a brief pause, pushing all notions of pizza from his mind. It would be delicious and he would be very glad he'd chosen it; he usually was in the end, it was just reaching the decision that was hard. Why did meat have to be so delicious?
"Olives!" Announced the waitress, appearing abruptly once more. "Be careful, they do have stones in, I wouldn't want you to crack a tooth and spoil your dat... your day!"
Oh great - Aulus avoided Claire's gaze - the dumb b***h did think they were on a date... So what was wrong with somebody thinking he was on a date with an attractive woman? Claire couldn't be called the most stunning woman alive, but she was certainly a fair cut above average: fit, silky-haired, quite a pretty face... Anyway. "Wild mushroom risotto for me, what about you... Lucy." The pause before her name had probably sounded a bit odd, but at least he had stopped himself from calling her Claire. Maybe the waitress would just think he had loads of girls crawling around him and had temporarily forgotten this one's name.

Before she could reply with her own choice - which she still wasn't sure of, at this point - the cheery waitress returned with olives and... oh. She thought this was a date. That wasn't very surprising, and it wasn't of any consequence, though she felt the sudden urge to sic her golden Pidgeot on the idiotic girl. Her eyes briefly flitted to the girl in question when she spoke before returning to the menu held in front of her. While she didn't look at her company across the table, it was easy to see he hadn't looked at her either, and it also occurred to her he might be having similar thoughts.
Claire waited until Aulus had finished ordering, giving the irritating waitress a few moments to take note of his order before she spoke. "Baked ziti with bread sticks, please." She really was much too cheerful.. It was a little disconcerting still.

"Okay, no problem, enjoy your olives in the meantime!"
Aulus harrumphed vaguely as the woman headed off to the kitchen with their orders. Great. She was probably going to go gossip about them now... Claire hadn't looked at him since the implication that this was a date. He didn't want to be the first one to look back. At least he had olives to preoccupy himself with, and it wasn't like he'd promised witty conversation. Lunch. That was all she was getting out of him.
The food came before too long luckily, and it was indeed very nice. Some idly chatter about the quality of the food passed between himself and Claire, along with further questioning of the waitress' state of mental health on his part. It didn't take too long to finish the food up (they had both been rather hungry), and as soon as Claire set her cutlery aside Aulus signalled for the bill. He should be vaguely smug that the waitress thought he was on a date with a pretty girl, but for some reason it just made him uncomfortable.

Aulus wouldn't have to worry about being the first to look back or not, since Claire had no issues with that. Not that she even knew he had no desire to look back first, anyway. Then the food came - delicious, glorious food - and before long they had both finished. She had no issues with the amount of conversation they'd shared, and as he signaled for the bill she leaned against the back of the booth, lifting her feet to rest them on the bench next to Aulus. Not too close though, of course.
"Mm, that was good," she said, picking up the last half of one of her bread sticks and tracing lines through the leftover sauce on her plate with it. Violet eyes peered up at her company curiously. "Where did you want to go next? I really didn't have anything definite in mind." It wasn't exactly like her to wander around with no set goal or destination in mind, but it had become more of a habit ever since Lucas had decided to distance himself from her.
